Continuation of book 1. Not a standalone.

"You should have never been born."
Getting told that daily has a way of messing with one's head.
But I didn't let it.
I had my siblings. I had a secret best friend who understood me.
I had hope.
Until I didn't.
One by one they all left. Abandoned me. Betrayed me.
One by one they turned me into who I am today.
The monster bearing the stench of death, blood—rot.
The bringer of vengeance—of pain and suffering.
And no one will stand in my way.
Especially not her—the girl with the unspoiled innocence and beguiling eyes.
Never her.
At the end, I will reign as I was always meant to—a king among corpses.
My name is Michele Guerra and this is my war.

War, Unjust is the second book in the Arte de la Guerra Saga. It can only be read after the War, Unfinished as it follows the same main characters. The book ends in a cliffhanger. Please be advised that this book is much darker than the first. Check the Author's Note for a comprehensive list of triggers and warnings.

Continuing from War, Unfinished, Michele and Raf Guerra are revealing so many tragic and unbelievable events. It left me speechless at times and devastated at other times. These brothers have been through so much but the hate between them is profound and felt so real.
Rafaelo and Noelle's relationship is dark and so very secretive. This couple has a past and they are definitely meant for each other.
Venezia is an innocent, and Michele sees himself as her protector, but Michele is a monster and over the top in his approach.
This story was dark, much darker than the first one as the background of these characters lives are divulged and painstakingly described to us.

Michele is just in his Reputation/Look What You Made Me Do era 😭😭😭😭

I’m definitely a Michele girl! In this book, we really get to delve into who Michele is and why he is the way he is! It’s truly heartbreaking 😩 and just makes me want to take him home with me!

Veronica does an AMAZING job of weaving together an entire world and backstory to go along with each character.

There is a lot of flashbacks in this book, so go into it knowing you’re going to be getting a lot of what happened before the first book started. Also please check trigger warnings!

Now, Raf and Noelle…hmm, I do like them but for some reason I’m just so drawn to Michele that all I want to do is read about him lol.

Things are definitely going to be getting spicy with them in the next book. With all the characters really. There’s so many twists and turns in this book, so many unexpected things are revealed and I’m SO excited to see how they play out in the next book.

You can just tell when an author has spent so much time and effort in their characters and makes everything flow!

Definitely pick this book up and give it a chance since. If you haven’t read the first book, go read that one now and then this one!
So excited for the next one !!!!!

I really don’t know how to start this review… first of all: THIS BOOK IT’S EVERYTHING THAT I IMAGINED AND SO MUCH MORE. I cried, smiled, cried some more, yelled and felt lost when this book was over. I already say that sometimes, but Veronica Lancet turns the concept of ‘mafia books’ to another level, definitely the best book so far (even better than Morally Ambiguos with my imaginarius husband Vlad).
Here we have the continuation about Raf and Michele’s story, with the first part of the book abording the past- mostly how Michele turns into this 'bad guy'. And i need to say: it’s so sad (seriously sad and disturbed). With the whole background and past, I came to a conclusion: I just wanna a happy ending for him (and of course, I forgive him for all the mistakes that he did and will do, I don’t care, just need my baby smiling again). With this book I surrender to Michele more and more and start to hate (a little more kkkk) Raf and Noelle (this may be my heart full of revenge talking right now, of course). I don’t need to say this book it’s dark- because it’s really dark, more than other books. Also, Veronica always writes in such a wonderful and addictive manner that swallows me in the story and I couldn’t stop myself from immersing myself in this world. Obviously, I love this book and I can't wait for more in this series. If you never read anything by her, just do it, it’s perfect.

I swear the only time i ever come on to Goodreads these days is to review books by Veronica Lancet.
I'm glad we finally unpack what happened between Michele and Rafaelo, it was utterly heartbreaking, I find my face all scrunched up by the end of their flashback.
ALOT of things happened between them, and though I feel there is still hope for them to reconcile, it also felt like too much time has passed for it to happen.
I felt that the actions that Michele took to cast aside his feelings for revenge was extreme, but I understood that he was child at the time, and the onslaught of incident after incident that keeps happening to him was so traumatic as a child to teenager; it can really fks with ur mind, and feel like "whats the point"

The incidents that happened to Rafaelo wasn't easy either, especially since his past as a slave has not been uncovered yet, but damn reading Michele's past was not a walk in the park.

Rafaelo and Noelle honestly felt like a filler couple the whole time, until something is revealed about their past in the end. It got interesting, but I was still drawn and looking back and Michele and Zia interactions in the book

I definitely prefer Michele and Zia, the dynamic at play is more interesting; especially when you find out this horrific past about Michele, and Zia seems to be the only solace he could still have in his life.

AND DAMN I love Zia, she is getting more feisty with Michele, their whole interactions was a re-read for me, and honestly i am glad the next book will wrap up Rafaelo and Noelle story.
BECAUSE WE NEED MORE ZIA & MICHELE.
AND I HEARD THE GROVELLING IS GOING TO LAST THE ENTIRETY OF THE SERIES.

The way he try to convince himself that he was just using Zia AND his heart is not ALL IN was such a face palm, but you can see how broken this man is that he destroy any happiness he COULD have.

I love that Michele finally saw a different side of Zia, and he was like who was the person beside him in the past.HE MISSED OUT SO BAD.

But i do hope that the fact that he shared that personal video of them will be addressed, and talk between them, it was so personal, and I find that really hard to forgive, because while i could understood why Michele wouldn't want a baby between them, the personal video of them together being shared felt like a personal attack against her and a slap on her face after all the love and compassion she gave him, though i know it is to smear the reputation of the family.

ANYWAY, can't wait for Book 3, until V.L come out with another book i probably won't be reviewing any other books any time soon

War Unjust- And the injustices were many!

I was lucky enough to beta read this book and after a long debate with myself, whether to rate it 4 or 5 stars, I finally decided on 41/2. I’ll give my reason later for taking off half a star. This is book 2 and a continuation, so book 1, War Unfinished, must be read first. Please read the author’s TW, as there are many, and when she says that this book is dark, she really means it. Like the author’s other works, this too is a long book so patience is definitely required😁
There is a lot to unpack in here, which made it difficult for me to review without giving spoilers, but I’ll try my best.
In book 2 we go back to both Raf’s and Michele’s childhood, and to say that they each went through their own hell would be the biggest understatement ever. The book opens with where book 1 ended and we are soon introduced to Michele’s childhood. He starts off as the purest of souls- deeply caring, innocent, artistic, supportive of Raf, and full of immense love and understanding. All he ever wants in his young life is love and acceptance from his father and stepmom (Raf’s mother). But all he gets in turn is loathing, and mental, emotional and physical abuse from both his parents. But for years, Michele let’s these things slide because he knows that he has the love of his brother Raf and older sister Gianna. However, continuous abuse and neglect keep chipping away at his pure heart and sunny disposition. Then something truly horrific happens to him, and instead of getting his brother’s support, Michele is left dealing with the aftermath on his own. This is the first major blow to his positivity and innocence and the belief that good will always triumph over evil. The trust is broken irrevocably and a dark web of hatred (for others and himself), disillusionment and utter misery starts to slowly spread in his heart and psyche. Soon he takes over the family business, having ousted Raf, and once again he comes across a little ray of sunshine, in the form of another character, and he ends up showering this person with whatever love and devotion that remains in his almost shriveled up heart. But the moment that sunshine is snatched away from him in a most brutal manner, is when the dark web is completely woven, covering his heart, mind and soul. Michele brings out a lot of feelings in me as a reader. He refuses to be put into any one specific mold. I hate him, but there is also a tiny kernel of sympathy for him, because what he went through was nothing short of walking through hell’s fires. He comes out of it completely broken, changed and not even a husk of a human being. There was so much potential in him to be good and do good but it was squeezed out of him one abuse at a time. Michele dies and is reborn into this person that has a deformed psyche. He has no sense of right and wrong; just this demon inside him, that is constantly hounding him to get revenge. And he gleefully feeds this demon; reveals in his monstrous actions.
Which brings us to Zia- the quiet, timid, observant, neglected, almost a doormat like character. After what Michele did to her in book 1, she’s lost her faith in him, but he is more obsessed with her than ever. He keeps hammering at her and she keeps bending, but surprisingly, she never breaks, which suggests that she has a hidden core of steel that even she’s unaware of, since she hasn’t yet grown into her own, and which flummoxes Michele, every time it peeks out. Their’s is a text book example of a toxic relationship. This is where I debated with myself whether to take off half a star or not, when she goes through another horrific ordeal by Michele’s hand. I could not, in all honesty, see a way out of it, but I’m sure he’ll have an equivalent of a Mount Everest to climb, to get her forgiveness. Where she is concerned, it almost feels like he’s living in some alternate reality where she loves him and he can do no wrong. His delusions are so strong than he thinks that all crimes committed against her-but only by his hands-will be forgiven. But no other can touch her and he will skin anyone alive, if they even breathe on her wrong. Zia, however, is a character to watch out for in later books.
Another character that goes through tremendous change, is Raf. Just like Michele, we see the childhood and teenage experiences that shape him. Unlike Michele in his early yrs, Raf is introduced to blood and gore from a very early age, and absolute perfection is required from him by his parents, especially his mom. Raf has this darkness inside, unlike Michele, that he is always trying to hide, and shows a side of himself to the world that is perfect and good. He also has this misplaced devotion and blinders on, where his mother is concerned. He knows what she does to Michele, and he keeps apologizing for it- acts like a buffer between them-but he loves her unconditionally as well. And this is his ultimate downfall. He fails to stand up with Michele in his darkest time, and chooses wrongfully -though he doesn’t know at the time- his mother. This betrayal breaks the bonds between brothers, and Michele’s revenge against Raf begins. However, once Raf finds out what his mom did, he’s ready for any punishment that Michele wants to hand out. This is an ongoing struggle between brothers which I’m sure will be explored more in future books. In the present, after Noelle’s rescue, Raf and her relationship looks ideal-full of romance and constant affirmation of their deep love. But things are not as they seem and they are about to face one the biggest hurdles in their relationship.
Which finally brings me to Noelle- who finally remembers what exactly happened in the hacienda, when she was married to Sergio. She finds out things about herself-things that she never wants Raf to know-for it will break them apart. She finds out that she is not the innocent, naïve girl that she thought she was when she had lost her memory, but something totally opposite. So she chooses to hide the fact that she remembers. She has these almost Michele-like tendencies running through her character, but unlike Michele she’s more self aware. She knows what she has done in the past and what she is doing now-hiding the truth from Raf- is wrong, but she is so in love/obsessed with him that she will do anything to keep him by her side. They knew each other in the hacienda, but he doesn’t have a complete picture of her. She however, knows what she did wrong, and is scared of losing him. Before marriage and the hacienda, she was just a young girl, enjoying her success as a pianist. But one wrong decision made by her brother, Cisco, to marry her off to Sergio, changed the trajectory of her life for the worse. She was forced to embrace the darkness and reinvent herself as a ruthless girl to survive the horrors of her life. And it is this ruthless girl that will no longer be put back in a box and she wants what she wants.
The book of course ends in a cliffhanger, with Raf, finally learning that Noelle lied to him about her memory among other things, and we have Zia finally deciding to break all ties with Michele.
This is a well written and a well thought out book and though it is a long one, every detail has been carefully crafted, so that it shows the progression of how Michele and Raf turned out to be who they are today. The past and the present is seamless woven together and the reader doesn’t feel this jarring change from past to present and vice versa in ever other chapter. I personally feel that the abuse and trauma that some of the characters went through, was needed to be shown to emphasize the dramatic and life altering changes in their personalities. Nothing is black and white here. None of the characters are exactly what they seems to be.
This is essentially Michele’s and Raf’s book. However, there are still tons of experiences that each of the characters will be going through in their future books, but as of right now they each seem to be standing on the precipice of some life altering changes that will force them to either reinvent themselves once again or fall victim to their past. Either they will embrace the darkness, or try to embrace the sliver of light in the darkness.
As a reader who is heavily invested in these characters, I cannot wait to see where the author takes us next in her future Guerra books!

I was introduced to Veronica Lancet by my friends. I began my acquaintance with the series (Morally Questionable) and I have already fallen in love with the author, her style, the characters and the characters.
I want to say right away that the triggers in this series and in this book are not for everyone, so please be sure to read them and decide if you can handle them.
This book is not a single book , it is a series and you have to start with War,Unfinished.
If I thought I was reading Darhk before, Veronica totally proved that before this book Darhk was too cute.
This book is so dark that I went through all the emotional swings
There were tantrums and heartache for the characters, it hurts to even imagine what they were put through , heart breaking every time.
Rafe and Michele caught my attention in Vlad's book and I'm glad I started this series and now I'm looking forward to part 3.

What I like about the second installment is that half of it is about the past and we can get to know the characters better than the first. You don't have to judge the actions of the characters right away, they're not as easy as they seem at first glance. I want to see when Michele understands how much Zia means to him. I guess I'll have to have a lot of patience to wait for that.

War Unjust picks up right from it's older sibling War Unfinished and heads right into the midst of all things drama. A tale about two brothers (& their respective partners) at war, Raf & Michele have so much unresolved history between them and it all comes spilling out. Sibling rivalry, heavy trauma (i.e., abuse and neglect), intense drama, you name it, nothing is held back. You feel for the characters as all their dirty laundry comes to light even for the ones who we thought were innocent...

As much as I adore the Guerra brothers deeply (perhaps one more than the other, not naming names *cough* Michele), it's the girls who stole the show for me and this was clearly their era.

Ms Noelle Deville, what a character you are. Very debut Veronica Lancet-ish, Noelle's character is just bewitching and she had me by the throat from the start of the book right till the end.

Ms Venezia Lastra, our little kitten who's on her way to becoming a lioness one page at a time. She's growing claws and fighting back and she's such a sight to behold. You can tell there's so much more to her than the meek little pushover she was in a book one. I can't wait to see what the rest of the installment holds for her. Michele definitely has his work cut out for him and my blood is singing.

Overall, a really enjoyable second part to the series. Definitely recommend for fans of dark reads with little to no triggers and if you want something on the heavier side with less smut.

First I’ll begin with heed Ms. Lancet trigger warnings VERY SERIOUSLY!!
I absolutely love dark reads, they are my favorite. I’m not ever triggered nor back off a dark story.
But I have to say while reading this book I had to at some many points and time back off and take a breather.
This story absolutely gutted and devastated me. I was truly shattered and devastated in mind, heart and soul.
Michele that poor baby suffered so much. Every single adult destroyed him bit by bit.
They are absolutely vile disgusting pieces of crap! Most especially that witch Cosima.
She needed to be burned on a stake! What an evil devil that woman is!
Raf also didn’t have it easy and I was sad for him. But what he went through did not even compare with what was done to Michele.
I was an emotional wreck while reading. I absolutely ugly cried. And was traumatized with what was taking place.
At some point and time I hated every single character in the book!
Does no one have a conscience?! Does no one feel shame?! Does no one take the time to think through the consequences of their actions?!
Even Raf flabbergasted me with his freaking actions! I don’t care that he was fourteen.
Fourteen is old enough to know right from wrong and old enough to know what the outcome of his decisions would do.
I wanted most of these horrid people to be put in front of a firing squad and shot in different places of their bodies for maximum pain and to die a really slow painful death.
And I was absolutely giddy to what was done to Antiono. I just wish more was done especially to his backside!
To say I’m excited or looking forward to reading the next book after that stunning cliffhanger is unbecoming.
Yes I most definitely will be reading the next one but with trepidation and uneasy.

This was my most expected book of the year and it did not disappoint, Michelle's back story is even sadder than I expected and this just cemented my love for him, needless to say he deserves the world and I forgive him for whatever inane thing he decides to do in the future, I can't wait to read more about him and Zia, I felt like that's the only thing that was lacking in this book, their relationship didn't have a big advence compared to the last book, and that's understandble considering what he did to her, but considering the book has more than 900 pages they could have had more "screen time".
Anyway 60% of this book is backstory for Raf and Michelle, and honestly If Veronica wasn't such a good writer who makes everything so compelling I would've probably been a little bored, but since she is just that good I couldn't put it down, just needed to know what happenned. This had a lot of Noelle and Raf I admit I am not as much a fan of them as of Michelle, sometimes I like them sometimes I hate them, especially Raf I hated him a lot because of what he did when they were kids, even tho his actions were understandble I could not forgive and forget. Noelle felt a lot like Bianca in this book (not nearly as compelling though), she's obsessed, I don't particularly hate her, but I don't care that much about her either, even though she proporcioned some funny times with how much people underestimated her, including Raf, I'm genually excited to see how their relationship is gonna turn out now that he knows the truth.
I really liked Zia and can't wait to see more about her true self I loved how she finally stood up to him and is ready to do anything to protect their child from him, and Andreas doing everything from the background uh just love him (gotta a feeling his feelings for Michelle run a little away from the platonic, but in a totally selfless just want him to be happy way, not sure though, anyway stan their relationship a lot, I like that kinda loyalty), want to see Zia know more about his backstory and reasons, specially in regards of Solomon and why he would feel that way towards his child, I felt so sorry for him in regards of Cami and Solomon, they deserved so much better, I had conflicted feelings towards Nico, he used Michelle's feelings for him a lot, but he was just a man obsessed with his dead love, I can aprecciated that type of devotion, he was a deeply layered character (just like all of her characters) and sometimes it's hard to decide how you feel about them considering all their conflicting actions. Anyway the book is amazing, I loved the little bit we got of Vlad and Sisi (my favorites after Michelle of course, seeing him flabbergasted in regards of their relationship was everything, the shock in seeing Vlad being vulnerable just chef's kiss), can't wait for the next one.

PLEASE READ THE WARNING BEFORE READING THE BOOK!

This book is darker than the last one!

My emotions are all over the place!
The book starts off, where the previous book ended... and I am not the same! I thought the previous book killed me, but now I am completely destroyed.

I have no words for how to describe this book. It is a roller coaster of emotions and it has completely wrecked me! All the characters are GRAY! No one has a set personality but their identities are gonna be revealed. You will meet the real and rawest form of the characters in this book, so be prepared.

Michele and Rafaelo were once close friends and brothers but life had other plans. Their innocence was taken from them, and the only thing left is the emptiness of what once was their relationship.
I have no words to describe how much I cried for both of them, and how I watched their innocent and happiness be taken away from them. This book covers serious topics and it was heart-wrenching to read. I just love both of them and now that I have looked into their past, I can only hope they have a better life...
I read Frivolous and loved the boys in that, but now reading it from their perspective and what happened afterward. Both Michele and Rafaelo were perfect and what both of them had to endure and go through was absolutely soul-crushing.

Noelle and Pet are going to fight for what they want. Noelle wants to be Raf's only choice and Pet just wants to be free from her pain.
Both the characters are gonna surprise everyone! They truly are the boys' equals in their own way! If anyone can support and help the boys become better is them... if only the boys would open their eyes.

I really loved this book and I hated the cliffhanger! This book is to tear you apart and give you hope at the same time... Nothing is what it seems but I could not help but fall in love with every individual character and not have my heart crushed.
I cannot wait till the next book!!
Thank you Veronica Lancet for this arc and for allowing me to review this book!

War, Unjust by Veronica Lancet is book Two in the Arte De La Guerra Saga. This is the story of Michele and Rafaelo Guerra who are two brother that hate each other due to their past. Rafaelo was sold and treated as a slave and he had came back for his revenge. This book continues their story but this one focuses more on Michele but we get more into the brothers back story along with the women they are falling for. This book is not a standalone book so you will need to read the previous book: War, Unfinished before starting this one. In addition, this book does end setting us up for the next installment in this saga.

As the story continues we are learn about Michele and Rafaelo's younger years. My heart broke for both of these boys especially Michele. The verbal, mental and physical abuse. The loss of  loved ones and the betrayal.
Words and actions have the ability to warp a person’s mind. With added pressure to their thoughts and their  insecurities one could completely change their perspective. You could alter lives for the best or destroy their views or self-esteem for the worst.
As Noelle's memories start to come back she worries that Rafaelo will learn the truth about what really happened at the hacienda. She love/obsession with Rafaelo grows. She is locked in a web of deceit and betrayal. Some truths are better kept secrets. Some secrets are better off buried.
Rafaelo begins to realize that some of his illusions of his time at the hacienda aren't what they appear. The truths that we're once blurred come to light. Now what will happen to his love/obsession with Noelle?
My strong, lovable Michele. So much pain. So much loss. He may seem cruel and ruthless sometimes but in reality what he does is for the good.
Zia. That poor woman has suffered so much heartache in her young years. Little does she know that she is the only one who can turn Michele around before it's too late.
"There's a void inside here that only you can fill. Just like there's a void inside here that only I can feel."
I'm so hooked on this series! Can't wait for next installment War, Profane!! (Dec. 5, 2023)

I went back & forth the whole time trying to figure out my star rating because Michele was even worse in this book in my opinion. See, he went through literal hell when he was younger & that hell transformed him into the monster only set on revenge that he became, and while I truly did feel for him & even understood him, I felt like he went too far this round when it came to his "pet". Venezia (the "pet") has been underestimated, and I've never been so delighted by a heroine standing her ground & not accepting the toxicity. Michele's brother, Raf, is having his own set of issues as Noelle has secrets that are coming out with the power to destroy everything. This story is super dark, and I mean DARK to the point that it even messed with me despite the fact that I don't have any triggers. That cliffhanger ending is the reason why I decided on the 5 star rating because it felt like Michele has his work cut out for him & I'm here for it. So yeah, I CANNOT WAIT for the next book to drop & HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I want to start by saying that Veronica lancet never lets me down. She always gives me many adventures with her stories and this one couldn't be different.

“The truth is, he is scary – very scary, you might say.”

Since Michele appeared I was fascinated by him, I knew he would be my favorite anti-hero, I knew I needed to know more about him. And I confess that I cried practically the entire book when I learned about his story, it was something so painful to read, knowing that everything could be different if he hadn't gone through these things. I saw a part of Michele in this book that was nothing like Michele from the other books and this book explains why he is the way he is...you find yourself wanting to protect and care for the character. The question remains: can we tolerate it knowing its history? I say yes. I forgive you. I'm here to defend you. No one can judge him after knowing everything he's been through. The raf too my God I just wanted to hug him in so many moments. What Michele and Raf had to face here I can't even put into words, there were so many horrible and sad things. Talking about Venezia and Michele, I found myself in very bittersweet moments with them, especially a scene from the last chapter, it was absolutely my favorite scene of the two. Gianna and absolutely everything, the way she always had Michele's back and always put herself in front like a mama bear makes my heart warm. About raf and michele I know they need to resolve so many things, so many misunderstandings that remained between them, I'm here with my fingers crossed that everything works out and that despite all the pain and the ghosts of the past they manage to forgive each other. I loved, cried, smiled and mixed emotions with this book, if you feel emotions in a book you should already know that it is perfect. You find yourself wanting to devour the book in one sitting and when you least realize it, it's over. Reading was fluid.
It's amazing how with each book we notice an evolution in the author's writing, how much she manages to overcome herself with each book she writes. The story is amazing and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Looking forward to the next releases! ❤️

I rarely, if ever, am at a loss for words. However, after finishing this book last night I am still trying to process everything that I read. This is a BIG book. It is also intense. The fluidity and continuation of the previous book continued. Questions were answered and new scenarios and questions took the place still leaving me needing the next book like I need air.

This book has triggers—a LOT of them. However, none of them are just for a shock value but more as a way of layering the story and giving the interactions of the characters that much more depth. The book focuses on four characters. This time the emphasis is on Michele instead of Rafealo but that doesn't diminish the story. I wasn't sure how I could like Michele after the first book. However, after reading this book, I wasn't sure how I could have ever felt that way because after getting insight into his reasonings for acting the way he does, I found myself empathetic and rooting for him. I could see how this war started between the characters. I won't lie, this hurts. Like HURTS. These two brothers went through HELL.

There are twists in this book that I didn't see coming. It had me in a chokehold, the like of which I rarely experience but that I live to discover in books. This author was one of my favorite discoveries of 2022. I went back and read her backlog and am so very glad that I did.

This of course ends on a cliffhanger but that is to be expected as I believe this will be several more books. I can only suggest for anyone wanting something dark that they buckle in because this ride is going to be bumpy. However, it is so worth it.

In this second installment we finally get to know a bit more about a few characters. Noelle is not that innocent girl we thought we knew, but at the same time I felt like she deserves the chance to explain herself.

This book was perfect at explaining how bad and good people are just two labels, but there are a lot of shades: what we might consider a good choice can be perceived as bad from someone else. I loved this.

Finally, we get to explore Michele's mind a little more and I love the LGBTQ+ rep. As always, pay attention to the two, these books are emotionally difficult to read for a number of reasons, but I think the author was great at handling all the themes.

veronica's writing is immaculate. this shit is darker, darker than first. i wouldn't take those trigger warnings lightly.

about half the book is in the past where we see michele and rafaelo growing up and what each of them went through. michele's part had me FUMING. i was ready to throw hands for this dude. but it was almost horrifying seeing the way he changed over the events that took place. it definitely didn't justify is actions but there are valid reasons to why he's a complete obsessive, narcissistic psycho. zia and him when they first met when they were young, they were so cute. and then to see him so madly obsessed with her is kinda heart fluttering (i'm not weird i swear). yet the things he's done to her in the first book and this one are unforgivable. BUT i adored the last chapter where michele followed her to the park and we saw a glimpse of the good michele and what he will be like with zia once he realizes that she's just not his pet but much more. i particularly loved when zia started to stand her ground against michele. getting a taste of his own medicine is what michele needs.

noelle and rafaelo, these two are madly in love and i can't help but blush and smile like an idiot everytime rafaelo opens his damn mouth. the mans a sweet talker. their cute little moments were fun. what happened with him in the past was unfortunate and i hate his mother with utter passion. i'm super intrigued to know what happened with him in hacienda and to noelle. how they got there? why were they there? i'm especially dying to know the reason behind that confession noelle dropped. like i need it NEED it NOW. i felt so bad for rafaelo in that moment but TO BE A FLY ON A WALL IN THAT SCENE lmao.

Where to start I don't know, after one week starting the first book and now finishing this one I'm completely with no words. After starting Fairytale i find that Veronica Lancet foe sure write amazing story's and decided to divine into this one to and oh my goodness what a experience!!!

This book is about two brothers Michael and Rafael Gulera, who hate each other and are in war and they path to the love with they love interes Venecia and Noelle, but not all is what it's like the story have so much pain, secrets and heartbreak that get me one rollercoaster.
I will say that the book is so dark and is not for everyone, because no matter what I also was struggling to continue to read some scene, but in the same time was wanting to find more and more about the characters.
I've never read a book with so many Pov for now ,but definitely I like this one,Veronica absolutely slayed with every scene and the cliffhanger that she left me with .

The book that will rip you apart raw. Where secrets are unraveled and the most tragic and darkest truths come to light. It’s a book about love. ALL types of love.

I used an entire box of tissues. Then I figured, why don’t I use face towels to wipe my tears. Well!!! I had almost an entire load of laundry full of face towels because they were all soaked with tears. (I’m being sarcastic….barely… so be warned and get ready for one hell of a journey) If you want all emotions unlocked, read Guerra 2. That being said, READ ALL TRIGGER WARNINGS!!!! Veronica puts all those trigger warnings there for a reason!!!! I am trying to be careful and not give spoilers, trust me you want to go into this as blindly as you can.

I would say to read when you are alone. Because not only are some scenes VERYYYYYY HOT!!! (Especially with Raf and Noelle 🥵🥵🥵they burn these pages🥵) But there will be moments when you are cursing out loud and some where you’ll be screaming and bawling your eyes out.😭😭😭

YOUR HEARTS WILL BE RIPPED APART😭😭😭 Veronica did not hold back with Guerra 2😭😭😭when you think the pain is going to end, there will be more coming. Trust me, I’ve read War, Unjust a few times, and each time I’m transported so deep into the Guerra world that I don’t come out of it’s trance for days.

I don’t know what it isss😭😭😭there’s something that Veronica does to her characters that makes them soooo freaking addictive. I CRAVE to know about every single aspect of their lives. I CRAVE their every single thought. You feel their love bleeding through the page and you automatically become addicted.

This is going to be one of my shorter reviews for this series. It’s so hard to not say a lot, but you NEED to go into the book as spoiler free as possible, and you just need to experience every single “What the fuck” moment and have your minds blown and your hearts played with. It is worth it, ten thousand times.

But again, be warned of all the darkness ahead, and let it consume you.

This is not a mere annihilation of your hearts.
Be prepared for the ultimate mindfuck.

QUICK MENTION: Let’s not forget about tiny little lovely!!!!! That little guy is sassy and adorable. Of course we’re going to see more of that tiny fur ball of adorable little cuteness.

OKAY!!!! IT'S DONE!!!!
I WAS SO DREADING TO READ THE BOOK AND now that it's finished, i don't know how to feel. I am buzzing with excitement to read the next book and at the same time i am happy it's not released yet. I will be pondering over each and every detail of the book for quite few days😜

So anyways, the book was Awesome!!!!
About 40% was past. Honestly I was somewhat annoyed with past chapters in the beginning but later on they became intriguing. Past chapters actually give a lot of insight in the life of the brothers. Some parts were really really heartbreaking. I hate Cosima with capital H. That bitch was so on my nerve the entire time.
Anyways, somewhere between the lines i started to like Michelle and felt sorry for him at the same time. His past interaction with Zia was really cute
Onto present, Noelle annoyed me the most. I was like Bitch just tell him the truth. What is so bad that you can't tell him??? And when the truth was revealed, although everything was building upto that revelation, but in my mind i was like
' it can't be true...like there must be some other explanation right?!!! Author is just distracting us and it will lead to something else'
BUT NOPE!!!
IT HAS TO BE THAT, i still think there is other explanation though. My optimistic mind and heart ❤️💓🥺🥺🥺

Venezia's new attitude was refreshing but sometimes she behaves like she thinks only with her hormones. 1 touch from Michelle and she is putty in his hand. Like girl grow a backbone. He killed your child!!!!. But no!!
She even dress like Michelle told her to!!!

But i think Michelle is growing on me. I know his bar is in hell. But he accepted that he r*p€d Zia!!!
Like i was most shoked at that. I thought he would just assume that everything is right. But no he accepted that he hurt her now and in the past too when she was in love.

Andreas surprised me the most, and epilogue like THAT i don't know what he has in store!!!

OMG my guy Michele (yes an awful human being but you don’t read Veronica Lancet dark mafia for rainbow butterflies sunny skies and golden retriever characters or maybe Vlad can be one when he’s not on a spree) HIS BACKSTORY and chapters had me sobbing… I feel for Raf too but when Michele said he was going to get revenge at all costs my boy was not playing around. AND VENEZIA my baby grew some claws and scratched Michele LOL. Also I cannot bring myself to hate Noelle, i love her honestly, and do think there’s much more to the hacienda backstory and how she became that way when she was the complete opposite before. I could go on and on but I am too lazy to, but this is one of my 2022 standouts books👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

War, Unjust is book two in Arte De La Guerra Saga by Veronica Lancet. This follows straight on from War, Unfinished and continues the story about Rafaelo and Michele Guerra. This is a
very long but riveting story of revenge, full of amazing twists and turns. Be aware the author doesn’t hold back so read the trigger warnings as there are some very upsetting scenes. This is an extremely dark and emotionally exhausting story of sibling rivalry, unresolved issues, family drama, traumatic events and complex connections between the different mafia families.

Book one ended in a cliffhanger with Michele shocking his brother with an astonishing revelation. Now we get to find out the truth about their lives as they grew up and what changed their relationship. Be prepared to grab the tissues as this section of the book is absolutely heartbreaking and tragic at times. Michele and Raf’s childhood is full of mental and physical abuse which has deeply affected their adult lives. I found it extremely emotional and had to keep taking break as some parts are very traumatic. They are all victims of their own circumstances.

These brothers experienced some horrific events and they dealt with them in their own distinct ways. What I found interesting was at some point in their lives they both want through the same things. We get an insight into what happened to make them the way they are and I liked that every now and then we got a glimpse of their old personalities. Both certainly went to hell and in some respects didn’t come back ! Both are now totally different people to what they were like when they were younger due to their life altering changes. We find out why Michele feels Raf betrayed him and why he blames Raf for making him the monster he now is.

I felt sorry for Raf who always tried to be the perfect son, love his mother and protect his siblings. His side of the story is just as heart breaking as his intentions were good even if his actions let him down. We learn more about his time at the hacienda, however, it turns out there is more to be revealed but who is telling the truth. We know that Raf and Noelle have some history but slowly more about their complex relationship is revealed and everything could change when the truth comes to light. Noelle’s memory gradually returns but will she really want to remember what she did. Her true character is slowly revealed and we see how she will do anything to keep Raf. She is one ruthless woman when crossed but what did she really do to survive her arranged marriage to Sergio.

My heart went out to Venezia who started as an innocent in this twisted story. Michele is mean and manipulative towards her. He is totally obsessed with her but it is a toxic relationship. There is far more to Zia than even Michele realises. Just when I thought Michele had found some peace in his life, the author broke my heart again. Michele has suppressed his emotions for years and now with Venezia it could prove destructive. He is in denial over her feelings for him and I loved how she slowly stood up to him. I think I’m going to enjoy him grovelling to get her back. It is sad that he is so broken that he couldn’t see what she brought to his life. How she loved him when all she was to him was part of his revenge against her family.

I thought Andreas was a great character and his loyalty to Michele is admirable. Hopefully his actions will not come back to haunt him. All the new information about the brothers does make you question if Michele’s form of justice and revenge is right or wrong. He is definitely a character to evoke a range of emotions, I had a lot of empathy for what he went through but does it justify his actions.

It ends in a cliffhanger involving both brothers and their partners. Will they both stay in the dark or will they find some light in their lives at last. Will they ever reconcile? Will the past always dictate the future. What will happen to Noelle and Zia, can they get what they want while dealing with their men. To me these guys both just want to be loved but I am sure there will be more tragedy and heart break to come. I can’t wait to see how it is all going to come to a conclusion especially as it looks like there is a new villain entering the story.

War, Unjust is the dark, gritty, heartbreaking second book in the Guerra Saga. Veronica Lancet takes her readers on a twisted and deeply emotional journey as more revelations come to light and more intentions are revealed in this book. The angst is on another level in this installment, and there are so many moments that are as emotional as they are unforgettable. This story was a long one, yet it flowed so smoothly and felt as though I was watching a movie that I did not want to end. Obsession, regret, betrayal, guilt, and lost chances were all recurring themes throughout this story and the author handled all of them brilliantly.

"I'm coming for you anyway, pet. To the grave or beyond, I'm coming for you."

This author is so good at delving into the nuances of the human psyche, showing the reader how the lines between good and bad, right and wrong, are constantly blurring. The characters all have their own driving forces in this story, and the information regarding their motivations and intentions is slowly laid out for us. There are so many facets to the war being fought and so much happening at once. We are taken back into the past where the rift between Rafaelo and Michele first took place, and there were so many disturbing and heartbreaking moments along the way. The way things played out was unexpected yet explained so much about the characters and why they ended up the way they did. I really enjoyed being shown and not told about the events of the past, as that created an even stronger understanding of the characters and made me connect with them on a new level. I especially loved the way we were brought back to the present and able to see both Michele and Rafaelo through a new lens. The level of obsession and possessiveness that they both had for their heroines was so delicious and made for some incredible scenes. There was no line that they wouldn't cross to keep them and I loved that.

"I may not deserve her. Not with the blood on my hands and the demons that still plague my mind. But I'm keeping her, regardless."

The plot to this story is perfectly done, with so many moving parts that the author somehow manages to play against each other perfectly. The transitions between the two couples' stories was seamless, as was the component of the danger that tied them all together. There were so many amazing things about this story, from the fluidity of the writing to the twists and turns to the relationship dynamics between the characters. There were some great romantic moments as well as some very well written actions scenes that balanced out the story. There is so much yet to come and I am so anxious to see what the author has in store for everyone next. There are some secrets that I am dying to see come to light as well as some reactions that I can't wait to read. Veronica Lancet has created an incredible series with this story and I am so excited to read more.

OMG, this book absolutely shattered me over and over again! The heartbreak, the pain, and the angst turned me into a complete mess. My heart broke for all the characters and the lump in my throat had me crying and feeling suffocated.

In this book, we get to experience Michele and Raf's points of view from their younger years. It's a dark romance, so if you're not into that, this book may not be for you. There are multiple and graphic scenes that can be quite intense, and I had to take breaks to compose myself.

Compared to your usual romance, this book delves into a much darker and tragic love story. Michele's life turns him into a monster, and though he wanted to be a hero, he ends up becoming a villain. But is he really a villain? Only time can tell.

Raf, on the other hand, is torn between his mother and brother, and as a young teenager, he struggles to make the right choices. I hated Raf for not backing up Michele and lying to save his mother.

Michele's character is the most unhinged and psychotic villain/hero, and there's a very thin line between the two for him. Vlad from previous series, in comparison, at least had some redeeming qualities and declared his love to Sisi.

Reading Michele and Raf's POV from their younger years was a roller coaster of emotions. Just when you thought the author would give us some happy moments, everything would turn darker than before. Some scenes felt unnecessary and only served to stomp on our hearts.

As for the heroine, she's the epitome of a damsel in distress, pathetic, and lacking backbone. Regardless of the cruel life thrown at her, I wish she had shown some self-respect and not let men dictate her life. She's the worst heroine out of all Veronica's heroines.I couldn't understand why the author enjoys making her heroines so stupid. When the man you love hurts you, you don't just have a normal conversation with him afterwards.I wanted Venezia to be stronger, to stand up for herself and push him away,SCREAM FOR GOD SAKE and try to survive. Instead, she remained meek and weak, and I truly despised her 😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫.

One final matter that I simply cannot forget is the moment Michele committed an utterly dreadful act. I cannot fathom how he could ever redeem himself. To me, he appears as nothing more than a soulless, pathetic vessel of a man. The sole reason for the star I granted this book is due to my empathy towards his past tragedies and the presence of other characters. But deep down, his actions fill me with seething anger and resentment.

What Michele had DONE:🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
Misogynistic act
Degrading
Objectifying
Defiling
“R WORD”

One simple question can he really redeem himself????????? IM FUCKING DONE

This is the second book in this series and this story continues straight on from when the first book ended. This story gives a background to Rafaelo ad Michele’s childhood, and what has shaped them to become the men they are today. Michele endured so much more than Raf, and all he wanted in his life was love and acceptance from his father and stepmother, but instead he endured mental, emotional, and physical abuse, which was soul destroying leaving him a broken shell. When Michele needed Raf the most, he was not there for him. Noelle has regained her memories, but is keeping this to herself, in case she loses Raf, but what will he do when he discovers she is lying to him? This gifted author has taken this mafia concept to a whole darker level, and my word, she has done a phenomenal job in weaving this story. This is a well written story which is dark, raw, gritty, intense, intriguing, and heartwrenching, and with lies, betrayal, angst, mystery, suspense, danger, vengeance, family, friendships, emotions, twists, heartbreak, revelations, tragedy, and love, which leads to a riveting and thrilling page turner, which ends in a cliffhanger, and this is not a story for the faint-hearted.
Be aware of the trigger warning due to the sensitive content!
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

This is the partial truth of the story between two couples. Why partial? The story continues to unravel, secrets continue to be uncovered.

Everyone paints Michele as the monster, someone that is a sadist…but is he ? Villains are the culmination of their trauma, and to read this book is to get to know Michele. I am team Michele personally, and no one can convince me otherwise. Every step of the way, Michele finds his choices may be lacking. It’s hard to believe yourself to be superior to everyone else, and then realize you’re the cause of suffering too.

Noelle seems so sweet, innocent, but there’s a tale there too, so be careful to read between the lines. Every one of Veronica’s stories are intricate, and you can’t skip over things. This isn’t a story of just Michele, or how he treats Zia, or Noelle’s view of her memories, or Raf’s harsh treatment of her. Every storyline builds on each other until you finally have a new part of the truth.

The Guerra saga is romance, the truths of how mafia families handle their dirty laundry, and what perfection means. Machinations of life, love, and death wind through these pages, as everyone has a secret agenda, secret sometimes even from the reader.

I am super excited to see the next part of the story. Please know this is NOT a standalone and these books must be read in order.

𝑶𝒉. 𝑴𝒚. 𝑮𝒐𝒅.

Yup, yes, this confirms it. Veronica is indeed my Author of the Year, this series is indeed the darkest I've read, Michele is absolutely the darkest character I've fallen in love with. The abuse that takes place within this story, although different from what happens within the first book, was enough to make me need a break-- and I was barely 25% through. Once I was able to work through that 5%, I again couldn't put the book down and let me just say that I have never needed to take a break from a book before. So bravo, Veronica, for doing that to me you dark and twisted woman.

It is so, so easy to love and hate everyone within this series. I will say with confidence I need much, much more of Michele-- he is my favorite, of course. I would love to know more about all of the side characters and their personal stories but and committed to the Guerra brothers and needing to know this outcome. Some of the twists I had a feeling about but the others that took me so outta left field I was left blinded made up for that fact (which I wasn't even mad about to begin with).

I've said it before about Veronica but her writing style, the way she ties literally everything together, just absolutely everything with her stories is incredible. She never misses the mark.
