How free would you feel if your feelings didn’t get the final say in your life, but God’s Word did? Many of us allow our feelings to be the engine in our lives instead of the caboose. We are run by our feelings when we run away from them. But as Jessica Hottle teaches, we no longer have to run and hide from our feelings. Our feelings can lead us into a deeper relationship with God. Whether you feel too busy to slow down; believe you are not worth the time, the effort, or the fight; feel so overwhelmed with where to start; or have no idea how to take your thoughts captive, question your thoughts, or renew your mind, this book helps you create space, step-by-step, to heal the tender places of your soul. This book teaches you how worthy you are of love and healing because of our good Father in heaven. Writing from her own journey, Jessica shares simple, tangible actions steps for readers to take as they work through the process of healing,
Jessica does an incredible job of showing her readers how to hold their thoughts and feelings captive. It is so much more than just ignoring them, or pushing them aside and focusing on the Cross. She encourages you to walk through these feelings and take them to Jesus, while constantly reminding her audience that feelings are NOT truth.
I enjoyed reading what she had to say because all too often these female Christian authors have a “just be positive” attitude and hope for healing. Instead, Jessica uses Scripture and her own story to coach others on how to process feelings, ask hard questions, and turn to Jesus over and over and over again.
“Therefore, faith, time, and patience become our friends and allies. As those who follow Jesus, we continue to stand for truth, regardless of whether the Word matches what we are experiencing.” - Jessica Hottle
In Face Off with Your Feelings Jessica shares step by step how to take painful trauma to the Lord and allow Him to impart His Truth over the lies which come out of difficulties circumstances and experiences. The process Jessica teaches promotes growth in a relationship with Jesus. She shares the importance of taking our wounded experiences to Jesus first. She teaches about the connection between body, soul and spirit. The entire book is a guide to the healing process. Her workbook provides space to answer questions promoting the healing process. The content of Face Off with Your Feelings is full of advice I want to continue to put into practice for it does not teach 1 or 2 action steps rather a shift in the way one processes emotion.
This book is power packed! As you turn the pages, you know you're holding more than just a feel good book on self-care. You're holding a prescription to breaking chains that hold you back from wholeness and healing, whether emotional, physical, or spiritual. But as with a prescription, you have to pick up the meds, take them, and let them do their work. Jessica's book is like that. She has not only filled the pages with inspiration and explanation, but also the "how to". Excellent balance! Best of all, it's Scripture packed and Holy Spirit driven. I'm confident that so much healing is waiting for the reader that not only reads the book, but also applies it.
If you have pain in your past (doesn't everyone to some extent?) and want to experience true healing, this book will help you do just that. Through sharing her own life experiences, Jessica gently and compassionately teaches how to process the feelings and pain of our pasts and break cycles of negative thoughts and emotions going forward. Each chapter's concept is firmly rooted in Scripture and she gives practical steps to use on our own journeys to emotional freedom. I have highlighted and made notes on so much. This book is a teacher and companion which I will be going back to over and over on my own healing journey.
Never have I read a book that seem to speak to me like the author is looking at my life and wrote a book on it! Every thought, struggle, or circle I been brining myself through was touched on in this book! Jessica's stories come from the heart, and explain in simple details different ways to look at life and understand the feelings/thoughts we experience moment to moment. I highly reccomend this book to all of us whom look for answers in everyone but the one that matters!! If you're like me and have walls up than peace, I'd say you may want to put this one as your next read. Worth every moment!!
