About the author

Heinrich Christian Wilhelm Busch was an influential German caricaturist, painter, and poet who is famed for his satirical picture stories with rhymed texts.

After initially studying mechanical engineering and then art in Düsseldorf, Antwerp, and Munich, he turned to drawing caricatures. One of his first picture stories, Max and Moritz (published in 1865), was an immediate success and has achieved the status of a popular classic and perennial bestseller.

Facile à lire et histoire drôle.
Il y a une blague anti-sémite dans le cinquième chapitre, mais l'auteur est un allemand du 19e siècle, époque pendant laquelle l'anti-sémitisme était déjà à la hausse.

The story about the two naughty puppies may be familiar to some of you. However, the depiction of the Jew "Schmulchen Schievelbeiner" contained in the plot is so openly and stereotypically anti-semitic that children should no longer be expected to read the picture story nowadays.
