A Very Bossy Christmas

This book was almost exactly the way I expected it to be. A light breezy feel-good read.
Kate is Damon’s secretary, and he is a nasty and inconsiderate boss. At the time of her interview, he tells her that he sees nothing unique in her capabilities, which he cannot find in any other candidate, but still ends up hiring her. Kate gives it back to him on and off, and yet she is limited by her role. On one occasion as her car breaks down, Damon keeps calling her repeatedly, snapping that she is delaying important work & people. She leaves the car on the road in a 15-minute parking slot and rushes to work in a cab, spilling some of the coffee is getting while hurrying to the office. Damon does not care, and insists she pick up her car the next day, as in any case it had been towed and she was to be on leave over the next few days to visit her parents. Imagine her surprise though when he suddenly offers to drop her to her parents’ place for Christmas.
The first 35%-40% of the book is a delight to read – the character development is good, there is a nice touch of humour with the interplay between Damon & Kate written very well. It does go largely downhill after that though with very typical writing you will find in tons of romance books & movies. It recovers somewhat towards the end, with a cute little epilogue.
Overall, a charming book, which you can complete pretty quickly.

Actual rating 3.5 stars.
Last year, I read another Christmas story about a woman falling for their jerk of a boss.
That one was like 300-something pages. I think this one did well enough for only being less than 200 pages.
I think Damon and Kate felt real enough. They definitely had real issues they needed to work through.
I enjoyed the fact that we had Damon’s POV. His actions would’ve been SUPER confusing (or frustrating) otherwise.
They did the classic confession through a letter thing.
It was made better though with the decision Kate and Damon made after they started a real relationship.
There were a couple of funny moments plus sweet moments that had me smiling.
The epilogue was very sweet. Probably my favourite part?
Glad we were able to turn the Christmas reading around… although, we really couldn’t have gotten much worse…

Hot mess
Go read the other A Very Bossy Christmas instead, this one is a hot mess. The hero is a steamrolling jerk whose thoughts and personality change from one moment to the next. I'll give you an example:
"It’s probably good her personality instantly kills my raging hard on whenever she walks into my office"
20ish pages later...
"I fell for her a long time ago and now I just do it to try and remind myself that I don’t deserve her."
Those are literally both things the hero thinks to himself, not words he speaks out loud. So... yeah. Whiplash. He also "forcefully" grabs her a few times, doesn't wait to see if they're on the same page sexually, has tortured her at work for the last few years, and decides he knows what's best for her constantly. I didn't find him attractive at all, and there are not enough pages in this novella to convince me that he's worth a chance.
That's all unfortunate, because the blurb sounded right up my alley. I love an enemies to lovers, holiday novella. This one features a boss and his employee taking a Christmas road trip to see her family. Our insensitive jerk of a hero, Damon, ruins Kate's plans to go see her family for the holidays. He won't let her take time off work and doesn't pay her enough that she can afford repairs to her car. When he hears that's the reason she'll be staying home for Christmas, he feels a little guilty and decides that he'll take her himself. He also decides that he'll act as her boyfriend, and if they end up hooking up in her childhood bedroom... even better. Classy guy.
Anyways, obviously I didn't love this one. It's a quick, sexy read that probably would've worked better with a likable hero. And that's coming from someone who adores a lovable grump. Every time I started to get into it, Damon would do something to get on my nerves. By the end, I just wanted to be done with it. It's got the foundation of a decent read, but the execution isn't there.

If this was supposed to be funny, I wasn’t laughing. The F-word was overused in a unrealistic way, the MCs gave me whiplash from their personality switch-ups and the cheesy storytelling was not it.
“H&R Towing, this is Jake,” a guy’s voice booms through my speaker, his over-the-top Chicago accent making him sound like a character from a movie.”
“Yeah, ma’am. You can’t park there. It’s fifteen-minute parking.” I bite my fist, reminding myself not to snap at him; he didn’t do anything wrong.”
“I slide my phone back into my bag before raising both hands toward the sky. “Why me?” I yell just as a cab comes screeching into the open spot in front me, spraying me with slush from head to toe.” 🙄
End of the year tbr clean-up 🤸🏻♀️🤸🏻♀️🤸🏻♀️.

Hikaye daha çok ilk görüşte Kate'den etkilenen ama bunu anasınıfı çocukları gibi aksi şekilde gösteren Damon ve değişme çabaları ile geçiyor. Loved this!
Even though I kind of wanted to smack Damon around a little bit in the beginning I ended up loving him so much. I just wish he had suffered a little more for making her cry at work all the time. No matter, he was sweet and sexy and I need to find someone like him to be my fake boyfriend for the holidays!

I am officially in the cozy holiday vibes after reading this novella. Boss and Employee have a rocky/interesting working relationship that becomes.. so much more with a trip home during the Holidays.
"Thank you for being an amazing friend to me, even when I didn't deserve it. You are the most wonderful person, Kate, and I hope you NEVER doubt that."
I was pleasantly surprised in the amount of emotions that were evoked from a short novella. The female and male mc had me in disbelief, had me laughing, had me crying and best of all - had me swooning over their spice!

I enjoyed this Christmas romance between Miss Flowers aka Kate and Damon. A lovely Christmas holiday book to read with believable characters, a touch of comedy and sexy romance. Highly recommend if you want a book to enjoy that gives you a laugh and that romance feeling.

A very bossy Christmas – Alexis Winter
¿Cómo decir esto sin ser tan rudos? Damon es un imbécil. No uno de esa a los cuales puedes sonreír y deshacerte de ellos. No, él es más como… un grano en el trasero.
Se supone que Kate y Damon están sumergidos en una guerra terriblemente agotadora como jefe/secretaria. Hasta ahora nadie ha sido el ganador, pero cuando un día del asco se convierte en el principio de unas navidades desastrosas, Kate no tiene de otra que emborracharse luego de que su jefe imbécil haya destruido sus últimas esperanzas por llegar a casa para navidad.
Emborracharse no fue el error. El hacerlo en el bar favorito de Damon fue el error, ¿pero quiénes somos nosotros para juzgar? Y así, el jefe Grinch termina siendo el conductor designado para llevar a su archienemiga a casa de sus padres.
Se supone que sería algo de entrar y salir. Nadie quería ver el horrible rostro del ex de Kate y que la terrible mentira de que eran novios saliera de la boca de Damon. Mucho menos, que el comentario sobre la forma en como follan como conejos saliera en medio de la cena familiar, pero… Bueno, puede que al menos la primera parte si fuese deseada. La segunda, definitivamente, no.
Quiero decirles que no pude dejar de reírme con este libro, la forma en como la autora manejó la química entre los protagonistas, los giros en la trama y el osito de chocolate oscuro que tenemos como protagonista, hacen que quieras llorar en un rincón. Ni hablemos de las escenas hot… ¡Me encantaron!
Mis respetos para esta mujer y su manejo de la trama.
¿Tienes que leerlo? Por supuesto que sí. No importa si es navidad, tienes que hacerlo y punto. No dejes pasar la increíble oportunidad de leer esta nueva joya navideña.

Me esperaba algo más por lo romántico que por lo erótico pero en general estuvo bien para una novela corta. Es una lectura rápida para estas fechas y la lees en un par de horas. Si te gusta el romance erótico y te gusta el romance navideño, entonces esto es para ti.
Aquí tenemos a Kate, una secretaria que todavía no descubre exactamente qué quiere hacer en su vida y tiene una pésima relación con su empleador, Damon, desde que se conocieron.
Pocos días antes de Navidad, Kate debe ir por unas donas y cafés para unos ejecutivos con los que Damon tiene una junta, sin embargo, en el momento en el que iba a dirigirse de vuelta al trabajo, descubre que su coche se ha averiado. Damon le marca exigiendo que llegue en 10 minutos o se va de patitas para la calle y ni le deja explicarle la situación, Kate, entendiblemente enojada, con el poco dinero que trae encima en ese momento pide un taxi y llega a su trabajo, pero con las prisas se le cae uno de los cafés encima y una vez que Kate le cuenta a Damon lo que pasó, lejos de tener empatía, le urge que encuentre algo para cambiarse y entre en la junta en menos de 15 minutos porque es inaceptable que su secretaria esté impresentable.
Naturalmente, yo quería arrancarle los testículos con una navaja poco filosa y oxidada a Damon en este punto de la historia, incluso cuando pasamos a su punto de vista.
La cosa es que Kate iba a ir el día siguiente a casa de sus padres a pasar Navidad con sus asquerosamente ricos y privilegiados padres, ah, y con el añadido de que su ex que muy probablemente la había engañado con su actual pareja estaba ahí, pero no se atrevía a decirle a sus padres lo mucho que le incomodaba la situación ya que Chad y ella estuvieron juntos por un tiempo y se habían encariñado con el tipo.
Damon se encuentra a Kate un poco tomada en un bar después del trabajo y ahí ella le cuenta que como Damon no la había dejado salir un poco antes del trabajo para ir al remolque a recoger su carro (porque claramente eso le pasó con su suerte) ahora muy probablemente no podrá pasar la Navidad con su familia. Damon se siente como un idiota y se ofrece a llevarla a su casa.

Me esperaba algo más por lo romántico que por lo erótico pero en general estuvo bien para una novela corta. Es una lectura rápida para estas fechas y la lees en un par de horas. Si te gusta el romance erótico y te gusta el romance navideño, entonces esto es para ti.
Aquí tenemos a Kate, una secretaria que todavía no descubre exactamente qué quiere hacer en su vida y tiene una pésima relación con su empleador, Damon, desde que se conocieron.
Pocos días antes de Navidad, Kate debe ir por unas donas y cafés para unos ejecutivos con los que Damon tiene una junta, sin embargo, en el momento en el que iba a dirigirse de vuelta al trabajo, descubre que su coche se ha averiado. Damon le marca exigiendo que llegue en 10 minutos o se va de patitas para la calle y ni le deja explicarle la situación, Kate, entendiblemente enojada, con el poco dinero que trae encima en ese momento pide un taxi y llega a su trabajo, pero con las prisas se le cae uno de los cafés encima y una vez que Kate le cuenta a Damon lo que pasó, lejos de tener empatía, le urge que encuentre algo para cambiarse y entre en la junta en menos de 15 minutos porque es inaceptable que su secretaria esté impresentable.
Naturalmente, yo quería arrancarle los testículos con una navaja poco filosa y oxidada a Damon en este punto de la historia, incluso cuando pasamos a su punto de vista.
La cosa es que Kate iba a ir el día siguiente a casa de sus padres a pasar Navidad con sus asquerosamente ricos y privilegiados padres, ah, y con el añadido de que su ex que muy probablemente la había engañado con su actual pareja estaba ahí, pero no se atrevía a decirle a sus padres lo mucho que le incomodaba la situación ya que Chad y ella estuvieron juntos por un tiempo y se habían encariñado con el tipo.
Damon se encuentra a Kate un poco tomada en un bar después del trabajo y ahí ella le cuenta que como Damon no la había dejado salir un poco antes del trabajo para ir al remolque a recoger su carro (porque claramente eso le pasó con su suerte) ahora muy probablemente no podrá pasar la Navidad con su familia. Damon se siente como un idiota y se ofrece a llevarla a su casa.

New to me Alexis Winter, "A Very Bossy Christmas" was a nice and comfy read. I always like frenemies to lovers trope and this one was just kind of novella. Enjoyed very much.

I LOVED it! This one is one of my favorite Christmas stories for 2021! I really enjoyed it and it was kinda sweet. The epilogue was perfect and when it comes to the cover, just wonderful! I'm so happy that I didn't pass Damon and Kate's story.

I always speak too soon when I say I'm going to enjoy a book. The first chapter opened up strong, and then it proceeded to drop off a cliff and fall flat immediately in chapter two. This book definitely would have benefited from being even 100 pages longer. And the guy definitely gave off creepy stalker vibes so there is that. I may have to try the other Bossy Christmas book as I've heard that one is infinitely better.

I didn’t really connect with Damon or Kate. It was a light read, but I don’t know there was something missing, so it was just an ok read for me.

This was the perfect Christmas read to start off my December!!!!
Everything is going wrong in Kates world. Her family invited her cheating ex to Christmas, her car broke down, etc etc. and of course she has an awful boss who makes her life hell. It all turns around when said boss offers to drive her to her parents house and pretends to be her boyfriend! Read to find out what else goes down!!

The premise was there but the execution left so much to be desired. The MMC was a total dick without any redeemable qualities. The FMC was annoying. There was a tiny semblance of a plot but none of it was written well enough for me to enjoy.
Let me get this straight: they hate each other at work, he’s a total dickwad who is actually secretly in love with her and even though she doesn’t show any signs of liking him in the least, she’s suddenly falling in love while he’s still being a dick. And the Chad plotline? There was potential for that to be explored more, especially in regards to how it effected her relationship with her family and yet it was just forgotten. The “dramatic” end fell short and just felt lazy. Suddenly there’s a happily ever after? The end?
I wish I could have liked this.

Woooow me encantó!
Es fácil de leer y te atrapa super rápido en los primeros capítulos. Un poco tóxicos los dos, pero en fin me encanta que alguien se le ponga fiera a Damon. 5 estrellas super bien ganadas.

Christmas is in the air
A nice read to get into the Christmas spirit. I found Damon a bit immature especially for a man in his position but he was still well paired with Kate.
A bit rushed overall for me but still entertaining if you like fake relationships, sweet family drama, a decent level of steam and some Christmas cheer !
