The Hate-Love Duet #1-2

The Hate Love Duet: A Bundle of Books 1 & 2

Rate this book
Laila: I've tried to like Adrian Savage, the mercurial frontman for Fugitive Summer, while serving as his band's opening act on tour. But it's proved impossible. Global thirst trap that he is, however, I can't resist having some fun at his expense. Specifically, I've decided not only to give Savage the sound tongue lashing his cocky ass deserves--one nobody else has the balls to deliver--I'm also determined to bring that brooding bad boy to his knees. Savage: I'm totally obsessed with Laila. I tried to step aside when my bandmate said he was crushing on her. But it's proved impossible. She's too gorgeous and talented for me to resist. Not too mention too big a pain in the ass, which has always been my weakness. Unfortunately, though, in trying to do the right thing by my best friend, I've done the wrong thing by myself. I've pushed Laila away so hard, she hates me now. Which I guess should make me happy. But it doesn't. In fact, I'm finding it harder and harder to resist going after what I've wanted from the second I laid eyes on Laila. In fact, I'm finding it damned near The Hate Love Duet is a bundle of two 1) Falling Out of Hate With You, and 2) Falling Into Love With You.

After reading Smitten, this was the perfect accompaniment to it. It is the same timeline with a focus on Savage and Layla who are also musicians that runs in the same crowd as the characters in Smitten.

Savage and Layla are like oil and water. The hate is strong in the story and as the walls are broken down, the love story is so good. They are forced to fake date and the chemistry between them is just perfection.

Savage is truly a rock star asshole but he grew on me with his relationship with his grandmother.

There is so much miscommunication between these two and they had me frustrated at times.

Seeing the characters from Smitten was like coming home to a group of friends you know.

Jacob Morgan and Andi Arndt's duet narration was a 5 star performance. They angst, the tension and the desire was brought to life.

The bonus songs truly made this book a full experience.

Thank you @hambright_pr @laurenrowebooks for a copy of audiobook.

I had such a good time with this enemies (ish) to lovers rock star romance.

They’re at a party and rock god Savage has his eye on up and coming star Laila Fitzgerald until his bestie, Kendrick, stakes his claim. That’s fine. He’ll be able to avoid her- it’s a just a party. Oh, what’s that? She’s joining their tour as an opening act. Well hell.

There are a lot of immature shenanigans here for sure, but somehow I enjoyed them. They lie, they try to make each other jealous, there’s an incredible miscommunication. But I loved it.

First there’s the tour, then they end up being involved in a singing competition show which leads to a fake dating plot. Fake dating happens a lot in these celebrity romances. Does anyone know if there’s actually that much fake dating going on in the show biz world?

Oh, and the narration was perfect for these characters. That cocky, but secretly sweet tone for Savage and the sunshiney Laila. If you read this one, I must insist you listen to the audiobook.

My friend said the cartoon cover guy looks like Bob Dylan and Harry Styles’ baby boy and now I can’t unsee it.

Highly recommended for lovers of rock star romance, fake dating, singing competitions, and songwriting!

✨Thoughts✨
𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 story was an absolute riot! The Hate Love Duet, consisting of Book One: Falling Out of Hate With You and Book Two: Falling Into Love With You, follows the wild and tumultuous relationship between Laila and Savage. These two were like two peas in a pod, constantly at each other's throats and causing all sorts of trouble. Sure, their relationship may have been a tad toxic, but that's precisely what made it so engaging to listen to!

𝐈𝐭 all kicks off at a party thrown by their record label, where Laila and Savage meet and sparks fly. However, there are misunderstandings and mixed signals aplenty, leading to plenty of sabotaging and jealousy between the two. But as they navigate through their issues, they begin to see the real person behind the fame and glamour.

The audiobook, narrated by 𝐉𝐚𝐜𝐨𝐛 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧 and 𝐀𝐧𝐝𝐢 𝐀𝐫𝐧𝐝𝐭, was top-notch. Their dual narration truly brought the story to life, making it easy to get lost in the drama!

𝐈𝐟 you're a fan of rockstar romance, this duet is a must-listen. Big thanks to 𝐋𝐚𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐧 𝐑𝐨𝐰𝐞 and 𝐇𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐏𝐑 for the audio copy. All thoughts shared here are my own.

I loved this one! I received Audio and it was so good and the story was great. Rockstar romance, enemies to lovers, slow burn. All the angst, banter, spice and even emotion with this. I enjoyed the characters, the growth, and everything about this one. I can’t wait to read more by Lauren Rowe!

This was my first rockstar romance, and I loved it.

Laila is opening for Fugitive Summer on their world tour, which means she'll be working closely with Adrian Savage. From what little she knows about him, she’s aware he’s a cocky asshole—but also an undeniably talented musician. What she doesn’t know is that Savage is actually obsessed with her. However, one of the bandmates from Fugitive Summer, Kendrick, has already called dibs on Laila, since he’s been crushing on her too. This puts Savage on the fence about making a move on her.

They expressed their interest in each other through hate and aggression throughout the book. Their back and forth exchanges were extremely toxic but also quite entertaining. The chemistry between them was sizzling! Savage was the first to suggest they sleep together to get the tension out of their system, since they’d be touring together. Laila initially turns him down but changes her mind shortly afterward—she couldn’t deny her attraction to him

I loved Laila! She doesn’t take any shit from him, so they clash a lot throughout the book. I also really liked Savage as a character. Despite his bad-boy rockstar persona, he’s actually really sweet to the people he cares about. He bought his cousin Sasha a house so she could live with their grandma, Mimi. He also stepped aside at first and didn’t pursue Laila out of respect for his bandmate.

Their relationship was extremely toxic and often lacked communication on both sides. But, like I said, their interactions were entertaining—especially when they used other people to try to make each other jealous. And the hate sex? It was hot.

Without spoiling too much, my heart did break a little for Adrian towards the end of the book. He was an amazing character, and I loved his character growth.

The narrators fit the characters’ personalities so well, and the audiobook includes original soundtracks, which I thought were cool.

My favorite soundtrack from the book:
🎵 True Love High by Laila

What To Expect:
• Rockstar Romance 🎸
• Enemies to Lovers
• Fake Dating
• Forced Proximity

This rockstar romance was everything I never knew I needed and more. I listened to the audiobook of this and Laila and Savage's relationship from enemies to lovers was such a wild ride. Jacob and Andi's narration brought these characters, their chemistry, bickering, angst and love story to life.

Laila was a perfect blend of a sweet and caring pop princess with a no-nonsense, fiesty woman who knows what she wants in life. As someone relatively new to the industry, it was cool seeing it through her experiences and contrasting them with veterans like Fugitive Summer (her favourite rock band). As she opens for them on their tour and becomes friends with them, we're exposed to the witty, goofy and bubbly person she is, but she also clashes with the band's front man, Adrian Savage.

Although I loved Laila, Savage was my favourite character. He goes from being this misunderstood playboy with no regard for others outside of his inner circle to someone who learns to open up, be vulnerable and admit to his mistakes. He lets the version of himself that he portrays to the world reflect a little more of the good person we know him to be (beneath his self-sabotaging tendencies).

Laila and Savage had me hooked from their first interaction. Reading about how Laila and Savage kept trying to one-up each other because of their miscommunication was so entertaining. It was great to read about how their snark and bickering became a mutual understanding and then developed into something softer and more vulnerable once they were forced to live under the same roof.

The audiobook was immersive in so many ways. The industry felt real, the characters felt like real people, artists and bands. The music and original soundtrack all added so much to the story (I've had Hate Sex High on repeat since I've finished this book🤭).

If you're in the mood for a fun and angsty rockstar romance with a lot of tension, spice and heart between its main characters, definitely give this duet a read and this audiobook a listen💖

Thank you so much to Hambright Pr and the author for an ALC of Laila and Savage's story💖

"I've got a savage love for you
I’ve lost count of all the ways you’ve made me a slave to you
There’s no doubt my love is here to stay,
I’m addicted to you
I’ve got a savage love for you
Infinite and everlasting"

The audiobook for The Hate Love Duet, by the amazingly talented romance author, Lauren Rowe, is just under 18 hours, filled with mind blowing original music and sinfully sultry scenes. The ebook is 556 pages with links to hear the swoony love duets by two stubborn rock stars. If you love romance and music this is the love story you should be swooning to right now.

Laila, perfectly portrayed by voice actress Andi Arndt with her mix of sweet and salty, is thrilled to be an opening act for her favorite rock band Fugitive Summer. What she doesn't expect is sexy front man Adrian Savage to be such a diva. "Savage is a tough nut to crack...I just so happen to consider myself an expert at busting balls and cracking nuts."

What she doesn't know, is Savage, performed with finesse by voice actor Jacob Morgan with a fine line between snarky and vulnerable, is so confused by his attraction to Laila that he's the boy who pulls the pigtails of the girl he likes in class.

When they are forced to pretend to be a couple on a singing talent show and live together, all bets are off on their volatile relationship.

The songs are written or co-written by the author, produced by David The Optimist, and performed by Aiden Chance as Savage and performed by Jessica Schneider as Laila. Savage Love is a must listen to song!

The Hate Love Duet is a bundle of 2 consecutive books:
Book 1 - Falling Out of Hate With You
Book 2 - Falling Into Love With You

This enemies to lovers to fake dating rockstar romance let me escape for a bit. I hated when it was over but I loved every romantic note.

I received copies of this book/audiobook from Hambright PR for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

Lauren Rowe writes pure PERFECTION!! I have become obsessed with her writing. The Hate Love Duet Bundle was absolutely amazing! I had such a great time getting to know these characters. I loved that we get guest appearances from some of her other characters we have come to love in other books as well. The other thing that makes me obsess over her books is that as you listen to her audiobooks she adds actual music to it. The song in this book were so GOOD!! I couldn't stop listening to Hate Sex High!

The narrators Andi Arndt & Jacob Morgan did a phenomenal job telling Laila and Savage's story. Their voices were so entertaining and held my attention throughout the entire book. They make you feel a real connection with these characters.

Laila is a sweet character and of course Savage is your basic grump rockstar! When these two meet it's instant banter! These two try everything they can to make each other think they can't stand each other but it's all a lie! These two will frustrate you so much but in the best way. Even though you will want to smack them in the head sometimes you know what the out come is going to be.

Savage may be the grump rockstar on the outside but that man has a heart of GOLD!!! There is nothing he won't do for the ones he loves or cares deeply for. I love the relationship he has with his sweet Mimi. That relationship will have your heart melting!

This book is long but it's worth every minute you spend reading or listening to it. I seriously didn't want it to end. I just loved Laila and Savage. You will laugh out loud, smile like a fool, swoon, get emotional at times, get mad but in the end you will get the BEST ending!!! I HIGHLY recommend this book! I would also recommend anything Lauren Rowe writes.

Thank you Lauren Rowe and Hambright PR for allowing me to listen to this ALC for my honest opinion.

This duet had me hooked all day! The hubby had to do a wellness check because I bunkered down in my reading corner and just couldn’t stop. Savage is your classic troublemaking, emotionally wrecked rockstar who’s convinced no one sees the real him. After years of being used for his fame, he’s guarded with major trust issues—but that doesn’t stop him from becoming immediately obsessed with Layla, a rising popstar and the band’s new opener. Before even exchanging one word they go from eye-flirting to throwing silent daggers from across the room, so when they’re finally stuck working together, you just can't wait for these two speeding trains to crash into each other. It’s enemies to lovers, but make it secret pining with MAJOR denial—so painfully delicious—and banter so funny I laughed out loud. This story had so much chaos, chemistry, and all the Pride-and-Misunderstanding goodness my messy-romance-loving heart lives for.

I devoured both books in a single day—thank the romance gods there was no series hole, because that cliffhanger in book one would’ve had me feral. The audio version was great, though I do wish the narrators had done more true duet-style back-and-forth instead of voicing both parts. But the original music totally earned back those points—“Hate S3x High” is gonna be stuck in my head for days. Layla and Savage start out toxic and messy, but their growth—individually and together—is what makes this story shine. Yes, there’s miscommunication. Yes, they hurt each other. But watching them mature into a love that’s earned made this ride so addicting. This duet is perfect for anyone who doesn’t mind the miscommunication trope, loves chaos and chemistry, and wants a love story that evolves. Savage and Layla are truly an unforgettable rockstar couple.

Title: The Hate Love Duet
Author: Lauren Rowe
Genre: Romance
Pages: 568

Rating: 4⭐️/5

“You’re falling in hate with me / I’m feeling something I don’t want to feel…”

Adrian Savage is the kind of rockstar who’s used to getting whatever—or whoever—he wants. As the lead singer of Fugitive Summer, he’s all tattoos, bad attitude, and way too much confidence. But when Laila Fitzgerald joins the tour as the opening act, she completely throws him off. She’s calm, kind, and nothing like the chaos he’s drawn to—but that only makes him want her more. Laila, a rising pop star and new mentor on Sing Your Heart Out, knows Savage is trouble. He’s rude, moody, and clearly used to playing games. But when they’re forced to spend time together on tour, all their banter and arguing turns into serious chemistry. Savage might be a grump with a bad reputation, but he’s never met anyone like Laila. And even though she tries to fight it, she’s starting to see there’s more to him than just the headlines. What begins as an annoying work relationship quickly turns into something messy, hot, and real.

The Hate Love Duet is an absolute blast—funny and fiery. With enemies-to-lovers vibes, fake dating, forced proximity, original songs, and a hero completely obsessed with his girl, this duet is impossible to put down! If you’re into grumpy rockstars with hidden soft sides, sunshine pop stars who can hold their own, and banter sharp enough to draw blood, this is for you. It’s emotional, hilarious, and seriously addictive—the kind of story that leaves you smiling long after the last page!

A big thanks to Hambright PR and Lauren Rowe for providing me with a digital ARC of this book!

Released 10/21/21 on Amazon, KU and paperback.

Thank you @hambright_pr and @laurenrowebooks for the free book and alc 💖.

✨What is is about:
When rising music star Laila joins mega-famous band Fugitive Summer on tour, sparks fly between her and the arrogant lead singer, Adrian Savage. She can’t stand him—but she also can’t stop messing with him. Adrian, meanwhile, is completely obsessed, despite trying to stay away for the sake of his bandmate. What starts as fiery tension turns into undeniable attraction…✨

💭My thoughts:
This book is a combination of two titles: Falling Out of Hate With You and Falling Into Love With You by Lauren Rowe. It’s a steamy, enemies to lovers rockstar romance that will leave you swooning. I loved the progression of the romance, as well as the original music woven throughout the story. The tension and chemistry between the characters were undeniable. Lauren Rowe truly knows how to write a compelling love story and make it feel completely believable.
One of the standout features for me was the original music woven throughout the story. It added a unique and immersive layer, especially in the audiobook version, which was brilliantly produced. The inclusion of full songs, complete with music and lyrics, made it feel like a movie soundtrack come to life.
There were so many sweet moments that melted my heart, sad moments that pulled at my emotions, and steamy ones that definitely turned up the heat. Overall, it was an addictive, emotional, and thoroughly entertaining read. Highly recommend if you love romance with a rock ‘n’ roll edge and characters that feel real.

The Hate Love Duet is a rockstar romance featuring two consecutive books, Falling Out of Hate With You and Falling Into Love With You.

This was another unputdownable read from Lauren Rowe!

This book follows the MCs Savage and Laila. They had an interesting start, a complicated middle, and the sweetest HEA. Savage definitely received some side eye initially. I'm always cautious of bad boys. However, he eventually got his act together. He had the cutest relationship with his grandma and seeing his vulnerability with her, ultimately won me over. Laila is a spitfire and I enjoyed how she didn't just give into Savage. She made him work, work, work, work, work ( in my Rhianna voice) for her heart.

The audiobook is a MUST listen. It's dual narrated by Andi Arnot & Jacob Morgan, plus it features music! The narrators did a great job with these characters. Andi brought the full extent of Laila's personality, vulnerability, and wit to life. Jacob fully seduces us bringing to life Savage's charm, lyrical skills, and determination. This book includes great banter, steamy chemistry, a hiddenish name written in a song, and a great mini concert at the end of the audiobook. The songs at the end were my favorite part. They were 👩🏾‍🍳💋.

Rockstar romance is one of my least favorite tropes and Lauren Rowe is turning me into a Rockstar romance girl. I highly recommend her books on audio, especially the music themed ones.

This Duet deserves all the stars and then some!! The story was incredible I LOVED this audiobook!!

Lauren Rowe writes the best romances, her characters, her plots and how she interconnects her stories are PERFECTION! This was one of the best audiobooks I've ever listen, the narrators Andi Arndt and Jacob Jordan were perfect and do you know that Lauren writes the most amazing lyrics and that they are actually sang in the audiobook, What could be more perfect than that.

Adrian Savage is the most sexy and grumpy rockstar who is the lead singer for Fugitive Summer. His reputation of a bad boy follows him everywhere. When Laila joins his tour for his band opening act he becomes obsessed with her but for different reasons he can't be with her so instead he makes his mission to annoyed her. Laila has had a crush on Savage but his attitude makes her see red. So their push and pull game begins.

After they need to work together in order to achieve different goals that are benefitting for them they kind of make an agreement and this agreement leads them to all sort of sexy moments. When they collide this couple is explosive.

Now this is a duet and the story is a bit long but honestly I didn't mind at all, I completely enjoy all and I wish I could get more.

Thank you Lauren Rowe and Hambright PR for this amazing ALC. I highly recommend it, it's a must listen or read, which ever you prefer.

Oh, Mr. Savage... I really didn’t want to like you in the beginning! But of course, I have a soft spot for the wounded bad boys—especially the ones who act all hard and tough on the outside but secretly sing their grandma to sleep every night. I mean, how freaking sweet was that? My heart melted.

I was so frustrated when Laila didn’t come clean about Malik and Charlie—especially when Adrian was opening up to her about his family and some of the reasons behind his past behavior. They were an absolute toxic mess in the beginning, but I was hooked from page one and rooting for them the whole time. The banter between them? Hilarious. Their chemistry? Off the charts.

I was thrilled we got a little glimpse of Fish and Alessandra too—they’re my favorite couple. This is why I like to read interconnected series, each book gives us a little piece of this great big world that Lauren has created, but then when they come together we get this overwhelming sense of found family and true friendships. It makes me want to crawl into the book!

The scene where Laila and Adrian visit Mimi absolutely destroyed me. I SOBBED. Seeing that vulnerable, raw side of Savage was gut-wrenching in the best way. It added such depth to his character.

The spice in this book was also done so well. You could feel the exact moment the dynamic between Savage and Laila shifted—from ‘I can’t stand you’ to ‘I’m falling for you’ in those steamy scenes. It wasn’t just heat for the sake of it; it was charged with real emotion and character development, which made it all the more intense.

And can we talk about the audiobooks? The music element is a game-changer, I’ve replayed these songs multiple times, I just think it’s such an incredible addition to the books. Nobody does it like Lauren Rowe! Her books have me in a chokehold, and I’m not even mad about it.

I don’t just recommend this book—I recommend everything Lauren Rowe has ever written (and will write). She’s in a league of her own.

This book took me by surprise in the best way possible! I devoured it like catnip and now I’m left wanting more lol. The cover made me think it was going to be a fluffy, sweet read. But nope, what I got was hot angst and toxic relationship that had my blood pumping because, tbh, I’m all about that angst and toxic romance (in books, obviously!!)

Laila and Adrian’s relationship is a rollercoaster. Absolutely tumultuous, complicated, and toxic. But that’s what made it so compelling. It felt raw and real in a way that hit deep. Just because two people are compatible in bed doesn’t mean they’re compatible anywhere else, and their dynamic proves it. Their banter is straight-up chaos, and their exchanges are pure toxicity lol. Like fire and gasoline together. The hate, the aggression—it’s all there. It is infuriating, but it’s addictive as hell.

And the spice?? Oh my fff god. You know how there is hate sex, and then there’s HATE sex. This is the latter. It was so well written, I was physically feeling it. But it’s not just the spice that had me hooked. The story itself was beautifully written. Lauren really pulled all the emotions out of me. I swear, I wanted to bite my Kindle at some points because of how intense everything was. I was so mad. I was emotional. I was swooning. I was mad again.

This book deserves ALL the stars and then some. Lauren, I am officially a HUGE fan!!

The Hate Love Duet - Lauren Rowe

5/5⭐️

📚📚📚
This book was such a great read! I was lucky enough to be able to immersive read with the audio and ebook and that truly made the experience such a 10 out 10! You get original songs from the artists and truly I wish I could add every single one to my daily playlist. I am obsessed with Savage and Laila but what a journey you have to go on for them to finally get what they both deserve. The banter between Savage and Laila was just too good, some serious hate to love. While reading and listening this book had me giggling to blushing because of the spice and having tears in my eyes for both of these characters. The narrators really did an amazing job with this! I will forever be thinking about all the songs throughout this one because the smiles I got when I heard them was everything. Overall I highly recommend grabbing this duet asap!

This duet is everything I love about hate-to-love—angsty, messy, and so hot. The Hate Love Duet follows popstar Laila Fitzgerald and grumpy, tortured rockstar Adrian “Savage” as they go from enemies to something way more complicated (and way more addictive). He’s convinced he doesn’t deserve love, and she’s done dealing with hot-and-cold behavior. But throw them together on tour and the tension? Unreal.

Laila and Savage clash from the start, constantly sparring, daring each other to feel more, while pretending they feel nothing. The emotional push-pull is frustrating in the best way, and once things finally explode—yeah, it’s as steamy as you’d hope. And just when you think it’s all heat and chaos, this duet punches you in the gut with vulnerability, character growth, and a whole lot of heart.

Savage’s relationship with his Mimi? Beautiful. The final show scene? SWOON. And that Disney comparison? Perfection.

I listened to the audio and read along, and it was honestly one of the best audiobook experiences I’ve had. Jacob Morgan and Andi Arndt nailed it. You feel every ounce of Savage’s anxiety and love, and Laila’s sass and fire. Plus, the original music included? So good. It really brings the world Lauren Rowe created to life.

If you love a messy, emotional ride with unforgettable characters, top-tier narration, and music that adds another level to the story, this duet is a must.

SO IN LOVE WITH THIS DUET 😍😍😍

Okay, simmer down. When picking up a Lauren Rowe book, I know I’m going to love it, I’ve read three now and they’ve all been sooooo fun! But this one? This one topped all others for me.

I’m obsessed with Savage and Laila. Their banter, their hate, their love, their stories, all of it. Adding original music on top of all that and I just can’t tell you how much fun this story was! If you decide to give this one a go, I HIGHLY recommend doing audio. Nothing hits better than feeling all that emotion and angst and lust like these narrators can give you.

I devoured this duet. I laughed, I teared up, I cried, I got mad, and swooned like crazy. Watching their relationship blossom from beginning to end was so poetic. So beautiful. I loved seeing them grow as artists and seeing more of the characters I read in previous books! This definitely gives you found family vibes! I love their relationships with their band members and other bands under River Records 🎶🎶

I normally don’t enjoy rockstar romances, but when Lauren Rowe writes it, I’m gonna listen (DEVOUR) asap.

If you love a reformed playboy MMC, sooooo much lust, a man obsessed, witty banter, original music, fake dating turned real, and so much swooning, I recommend this duet. 100% cannot recommend it enough.

Thank you to Hambright PR and Lauren Rowe for the audio version in return for my honest review 🫶🏻

Savage and Laila are a pair of wild artists, and the "enemies to lovers" trope is executed so well it’ll make you sigh with satisfaction.

In the first book, they go back and forth—there are misunderstandings and confusion, both in their feelings and the situations they find themselves in. But they’re the kind of problems that feel fixable (in a way). There's a bit of miscommunication, which fuels the conflict, but the tension, chemistry, and especially those forbidden glances are all there.

The second book is an emotional and musical reward. Here, we get a more vulnerable Savage and Laila. Their personal growth is so satisfying to read, and their connection? Still intact—if not stronger than at the beginning.

My favorite part is when Laila replies to Savage’s song with one of her own and sings it to him. That moment felt incredibly intimate, and I truly loved it.

This was such an incredible experience thanks to the audiobook. The five original songs were all I needed to solidify my rating. I loved every single one, and I have to say—I highly recommend both reading and listening to this duet. The narrators did an amazing job bringing the characters' voices to life.

The Hate Love Duet was an incredibly entertaining, angsty, and passionate story - I couldn’t get enough of Laila and Savage! The tension and chemistry between them was electric, and I loved how they battled their feelings as their walls came down and they fell in love. I listened to the audiobook for this one, and the narrators did an exceptional job, really bringing the story to life. I could feel it all!

I liked the animosity and verbal sparring between Laila and Savage, they gave as good as they got. Their banter could be sharp and cutting, but also playful and fun. It was definitely engaging and entertaining. Misunderstandings kept the conflicts high, and I couldn’t wait for the truth to come out. Underneath it all, I could feel the building sexual tension and when everything finally exploded, it was smoking hot. I loved it when Laila and Savage started to let their guards down, share about their pasts, and the truth about their misconceptions started to come to light. I loved Laila, she was strong and determined, and I admired how hard she worked. Adrian stole my heart. He seemed hard on the outside, but deep down he was a sweetheart. His relationship with his grandmother was especially touching and added a lot of emotional depth.

I thought this was a great story. I liked the details and development, and loved the growth of the characters. I loved how the audiobook brought some of the songs to life, adding another layer to my listening experience. I found this to be an addictive and sexy read with flawed and feisty characters. When the hate turned to love, it was awesome!

🎸🔥 I finally finished The Hate Love Duet by Lauren Rowe and I am officially obsessed. This duet delivers the perfect harmony of drama, banter, music, and heat—all wrapped up in the glorious chaos that is Savage and Layla.

From the start, the storyline hooked me with its classic enemies-to-lovers setup. Savage (aptly named, by the way) and Layla go toe-to-toe in the best possible way—snark flying, tension crackling, and chemistry sizzling louder than a guitar solo at a rock show. Their push-and-pull dynamic was addictive, and watching that hate morph into something deeper (spoiler alert: lovers!) had me grinning like a fool.

One of the most unique aspects was the original music woven throughout the story. While the style isn’t exactly my usual vibe, I still found myself appreciating the creative layer it added. It felt immersive, like I was part of their world on and off the stage.

Also, major kudos to Rowe for combining both books into one long audiobook. No awkward cliffhanger or waiting—just one smooth ride through all the angst, spice, and swoony sweetness. Speaking of spice: it was raunchy, no doubt, but it also had this saccharine undertone that made the intimacy feel meaningful and emotionally charged, not just hot for hot’s sake.

This was a passionate, music-infused romance that hit all the right notes—loud, messy, beautiful, and unforgettable.

Thank you to Lauren Rowe and Hambright PR for this ALC. My thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Hate Love Duet is a bundle of two books from Lauren Rowe : Falling Out of Hate With You and Falling Into Love With You. In this story, Laila and Adrian are both famous musicians. They see each other across the room at an industry party and both are immediately attracted to the other. Some misconstrued signals cause them to start a “love to hate you” kind of relationship that extends through Laila’s stent opening for Adrian’s band on their tour. But that chemistry? It never quite goes away.

I am such a sucker for a rockstar romance. I mostly listened to this one and I really think it’s the way to go! I actually gasped when the first song started playing. I thought that was such a cool touch! The chemistry between Laila and Adrian was off the charts from the beginning and I loved the behind the scenes musician drama. They both were super frustrating characters that made me want to toss my phone and AirPods across the room a couple of times 😂, but I loved them both as separate characters and together. And everything with Adrian and his family was just so sweet! I adored all the parts of him interacting with Mimi and Sasha. It added so much more depth to his character. Overall, I really enjoyed this duet and devoured it in just a couple of days!

Read (or listen to!) The Hate Love Duet if you enjoy :

▫️Tons of chemistry and spice

4.5 ⭐ 3 🌶️ 5 🎧

I loved these two.

FALLING OUT OF HATE WITH YOU
4 ⭐ 3 🌶️ 5 🎧

This was a lot of fun. So much banter and I loved the fact that they went from crushes to hate to frenemies over the course of this story. I'm sooooo looking forward to watching them fall in love in book two.

For a book centered around other people drama, I found this book to be low angst. I think it's because they're both just trying to make each other jealous? It doesn't feel like actual drama so much as it's this game of chicken between Layla and Savage.... And watching them lose and fall into bed together is an absolute highlight.

FALLING INTO LOVE WITH YOU
4.5 ⭐ 3 🌶️ 5 🎧

What an absolutely perfect end to this duet. I loved these two so dang much and I loved watching them fall in love. Both of them had a past of hurt to overcome and skyhigh walls to break down... But they did it and they did it together.

There's a touch of miscommunication and other people drama in book two, but mostly this book is just joyous fun with outer influences causing the tension. I really enjoyed Savage's motherly influences, and Mimi about broke my heart.

The audio was great. I absolutely adore Andi Arndt, she always does such a wonderful job bringing characters to life. This was such a wonderful listen.

Thank you so much Hambright PR for the advanced copy!

The chemistry between Laila and Savage is OFF THE CHARTS. Their push and pull is addictive and I couldn’t get enough of it.

I love Laila. She is stubborn, she is down to earth, she is kind, unless your name is Adrian Savage, and she is full of fire and passion. She isn’t afraid to go toe to toe with Savage and call him out on his Rockstar clichés. Savage, how can you not love him? He may be a Rockstar, but there is more to him. His love for his Mimi is absolutely adorable. He has caring side, even though he doesn’t really let anyone see it. Seriously, the chemistry and the tension…there is just no words to describe it. It oozes off the pages with these two. I love the journey that these two characters take you on from the first half of the duet to the second.

There is so much tension, love, sweet and emotional moments between them and their journey was well worth the wait in the end.

I previously read this story, but listening to it is a whole different experience. Both narrators brought Laila and Savage to life. Plus, adding in the actual songs? Chef’s kiss. I loved being immersed back into the world that is Laila and Savage. There is just something addictive about these two.

If you’re looking for an enemies to lovers, rockstar, forced proximity romance check this one out.

Wow, so much happens over the course of these two books, and I'm SO very glad that I didn't have to wait to find out what was going to happen in book 2. It was super binge-able, and I listened to the audio along with reading the book for a super immersive experience. If you can get your hands on it, I highly recommend listening, because in addition to the great voice work by Jacob Morgan and Andi Arndt, there's music. Fitting, because both of the main characters are musicians, and hearing the songs gives that extra bit to make it a phenomenal listen. I seriously had the songs stuck in my head! Not to mention, Lauren has music videos on her website... *not me replaying H&te S3x High again*

The story is angsty, spicy, sweet, and intense, and I loved every minute. The spark between Laila and Savage combusts into pure fire, and all I could do was hang on and enjoy the ride. There's also surprising bits of deep emotion, mental health representation, and secrets slowly revealed over time. Definitely don't miss this if you love a rockstar romance with endearing characters and lots of tension.

Thank you so much to the author and to Hambright PR for my gifted copies. I am voluntarily and happily sharing my honest review.

I listened to the audio of The Love Hate Duet. It feature rockstar MMC, Adrian Savage. He was living the typical rockstar life until a mishap with a groupie made him rethink the lifestyle. FMC, Leila Fitzgerald, is a pop star opener for the rock star. She has a secret crush on Savage but creates this lie about a fake relationship to pique the interest of the rock star. Throughout the story they engage in lots of back and forth banter. Soon, they realize that their feelings were mutual. The hot tub scene during Savage’s birthday was hot!

I absolutely LOVED their story. The audio was easy to follow. One thing that intrigued me was that the author actually wrote some of the music. How awesome is that?! Very, very talented writer.
