Okay, i failed at reviewing right after I read this, but I am trying to fix that now! I loved this book, but the first half was not my favorite. The second half sucked me right in though. Let’s get into the review fr now!

Content warnings:
Sexual content: Leo is seen in his room with a lot of (naked) women, and at one point one pulls a shade pill from her breast and it’s honestly slightly disturbing… though considering it’s Leo 🤷🏻‍♀️. A character thinks of being younger and his girlfriend trying to sleep with him. They don’t do it… he doesn’t even take off his shirt. Leo is the main issue and it is all non-descriptive.

Drugs: Addiction to Shade

Gore: Not much. People are shot or blown up, but it’s not graphic.

Language: None (i don’t count words like Heck, Crap, or Gosh as cussing).

Leo, it’s safe to say I am conflicted. His POV shows how… insane he is going and it’s so pitiable. I want to hate him, and I REALLY dislike him… but a small part of me feels so bad for him. He’s falling apart, but he is obsessive when it comes to Clora. Buddy, it’s not healthy.

X5 is going through a lot and I feel like he can’t catch a break! He’s so sweet, and he tries so hard, but he always gets hurt! 😭🤧 Can I just say though, those little forehead kisses are so sweet and innocent! 😫

Clora is growing in her faith and I am proud of her! She’s definitely growing in me. I love how understanding she is about all that with Annie too.

I also am conflicted over Sunder. I like her… but I can’t tell who’s side she’s on at this point.

Anyway, I can’t wait to get on to I AM BROKEN!!! See you there!

Having escaped the Vale, Clora and Code-X5 are far from safe. Trying to keep Prince Dimas vital work safe and continuing his legacy to free the Skel, Clora is assisted by the junket people in getting Xfive back up and running, or at least in part. When Cloras brother Helios finds them, they are saved by the Grace Rebellion but with Code-X5 behavior changes, will he be able to keep Clora be safe? Book 2 in the series that draws you in, with suspense, action, twists, mystery and more! The characters come to life and have you captivated from the start and I can't wait for their journey to continue.

A Seriously Good, Unputdownable Book

Yup. I'm sold on this series. It's exactly what I needed to bump out of the romance genre for a bit and refresh my mind. The author is writing from a Christian perspective, but I think any sci-fi/post-apocalyptic fan would have no trouble reading this series. It's clean, but there are some heavy undertones which make me want to suggest this to readers 16 years and up. I'm definitely purchasing book 3 when it's published. No matter how long that takes, it should be well worth the wait.

3.75 star rating. finished this end of April

It was an okay read. It definitely suffers from middle book syndrome. I def liked book 1 better.

I still love Code X5. Favorite character so far and I really liked getting Helios's POV. He is a very intriguing character. I do feel like book 1 and 2 could have been condensed together.

all in all I liked the worldbuilding the most. Action scenes need more depth.

Hope book 3 gets better in those areas.
