At least, that's what her friends think. After years of crimes a little too close for comfort, this part-time sleuth has earned a terrible reputation: invite her to dinner at your peril.
Shut out from an engagement party, Delilah is forced to rely on backup. But will she be able to prevent a murder at arm's length?
"Till death do us part" may come sooner than later.
The first half of the storyline was kinda humorous, but it got tiresome towards the end of the book… (I think it’s challenging for a male author to write about the thoughts and emotions of a leading female character, just because of the way we’re wired.).
Banned from Pearl and P's engagement party, Delilah LaRue has a feeling her services will be required there anyway. With her trusty cohorts, Mrs Cooper and Mr Flint, she stakes out the event and her suspicions are met.
A quirky tale that was just a little too over the top for me.
The story is worthy of a 4 star, but every character had at least 2 names. One minute they are addressed by their first name, the next their surname and sometimes a nickname, which I found very confusing and annoying.
Two stars for being able to put something out there. Very strange and disjointed. I think the conversation was meant to be funny banter but made little sense.
An attempt at Sherlock Homes that left me a bit confused, but not necessarily out of my wits and I managed to finish reading it. Certainly didn't expect what I read considering, that this time, I read the summary for this book.
Okay, I'll tell you, it felt flat. The plot was nice, but the execution wasn't all that much. An elder (54y), it felt like we were dealing with elderly people over the age of 50; so this woman attracts death wherever she goes. So, when she ain't invited to an engagement party, she sends a couple on her stead. Also, the author seems to have a hard time sticking to the MC name. On the same page it would switch to her nickname, and it wasn't even someone else mentioning her. It made the whole thing difficult to plow through the end. Not to mention, everything felt like a mess. Sherlock Homes on the low.
Dang, I liked the summary. My hopes were high, but ... you know.
I guess I'm surprised but not in a good way. It felt like a mess from page 1 till the end.
