These boys weren’t born cruel, savage, and merciless. Someone made them that way.
The boys who started out as my tormentors saved my life.
From who? None of us are quite sure. But when I wake up, somehow alive and mostly in one piece, I wake up to a changed house.
Cayde and Dean seem to have turned over a new leaf. Instead of hurting me, they want to protect me. Instead of terrorizing me, they want to make me feel safe. And instead of punishing me—well, actually, I’ve learned to like that part.
But even if they think the game is over, I know it’s just begun. There’s still people out there who want me dead, and secrets I need to uncover. Secrets that will shake the very foundations of what I’ve always believed—and if I keep going down this path, Blackmoor itself.
There’s just one more piece I need in order to win.
Jaxon King.
Merciless King is the third book in the Blackmoor heirs series. It contains material that may be sensitive to some readers. There are no heroes in this series, and it will get much darker before the dawn. This book is for those who like their men cruel and damaged, their romance dark and questionable, and their emotions toyed with until the very end.
Ivy Thorn's motto is the more hero's the better. She writes dark, delicious, romance with kick but heroines and the ruthless anti heroes who fall for them. Her books will leave you on the edge of a cliff begging for more, but a happily-ever-after is guaranteed every time—they’re just going to have to fight for it.
She lives for the sleepless nights of New York City, writing until dawn in efforts to express her darkest illusions and cheeky personality. Accompanied by her favorite cocktail, she finds herself consumed by her novels, ready to take on a new persona. When she’s not writing, she enjoys her evenings off, exploring the late nights of New York City.
This story continues from Book 2. Cause, Dean and Jaxon has seem to turnover a new leaf and it only took for Athena to be kidnapped, beaten and brutally raped for the guys to treat her like an actual human being.
Cayde and Dean are trying hard to treat Athena better since they were raised to treat women as objects. Jaxon is still dealing with demons from the past.
This book is the beginning of Secrets, Lies and Betrayals revealing themselves. The town of Blackmoor is full of deep dark secrets that the Founding Families meant to keep hidden even from their descendants. Athena is on everybody's radar because she has been the catalyst used to thwart the games played by the Blackmoor elite and is beginning to become a problem.
It is up to Cayde, Dean and Jaxon to pull together to keep Athena safe because she is on a path of uncovering the truth about Blackmoor that may just cost her; her life.
As much as this story is really coming along, full of lies, secrets, truths, normality, and plenty of hot sex, this book about Jaxon wasn't really that much about him until the end. You only get a snippet of Jaxon in here. I wish there was more in the sense of what she's trying to accomplish. Her end game is dragged out in these books, and not in a good way. I think it could have been written better when she got Jaxon on board towards the beginning, so these characters can plan out their take down, but of course it wasn't written like that. It is a good story, and I did enjoy it, but there has got to be more to it. This whole plot is just getting boring with nothing good happening but sex.
The first two books of this series had some inconsistency issues but this book is so full of them that I almost DNFed because it’s so frustrating and distracting. Then there’s the issue with the fact that Athena and Jaxon discover who the girl is that kidnapped Athena halfway into the book and never do anything about it. They don’t even tell Dean or Cayde that they know her identity. It’s never mentioned again. I’m left very frustrated an annoyed with this book. The one thing I did like was starting to see Cayde and Fran treating Athena with some basic human kindness and affection.
After all the games and secrets, Athena can't take much more!
This is book three in the Blackmoor Heirs series and ends on a cliffhanger! Athena finally got Cayde and Dean to come to their senses and realize this whole game their families are making them play is ridiculous. Now she's just got to get Jaxson to stop thinking there is nothing anyone can do to change anything because she's about to shake things up and become the queen she was meant to be!!
Merciless King is book three in the Blackmoor Heirs series.
Woah! How the tables have turned. Athena's journey continues but the game has changed. The secrets that revolve around both the town and MC's slowly start to unfold.
Just when you think you know whats happening, the plot twists. That cliffhanger though! Looking forward to wrapping up this series with the final instalment Wicked Queen.
I swear each book in this series just gets better and better! I loved the character growth we get from Athena and the guys in this book and seeing how all the mystery around the town is starting to unravel the further Athena digs into it.
I think my favorite thing about this book was seeing the relationships grow. Dean and Cayde are really changing for the better and working on their relationship with Athena. I don’t want to spoil some of the stuff they do but it is soooo swoon-worthy! Jaxon was getting on my nerves in this book though which was odd as he had been my favorite but the other two guys knocked him out of that ranking. I don’t know, he’s fighting his feelings for Athena so much and his constant hot and cold attitude was driving me nuts!
Athena is finally learning more about the town’s history, the rituals, the boys’ past, and even things about her own family. I love how it’s all coming together now and I can’t wait to read the next book to see how it all ends!
I was looking for the HEA for these characters, after all they've been through, and when I reached the 80 percent mark, I knew I wasn't going to get it in this book.
I am thankful that this one is not too dark, as the last book was brutal. I appreciate the author's writing and the situation she left, at the end of this book.
I will certainly keep my eyes open for the next one in this series, and hopefully read a happy ending. As difficult as it was for me to get through the situations/problems Athena faces, this author has definitely written an interesting, gripping, dark story. (One that had me turning pages.)
Wow. This series is Hot As Heck. Such a fast read from the first page to the last cliffhanging page. So so many emotions. If you like force yet I like it sex scenes and LOTS of hot as h3ll DIRTY Talking alpha males, well you NEED to get to reading this series pronto!! Dirty Talking men who don't mind crossing swords, tongues, or fingers as long as they are on their pretty, feisty pet. Plus there is suspense and a tad of drama. Told in all 4 lead characters povs.
This series has seriously gotten so so much better. Thank you consent! I definitely enjoyed this book, so far, the most of the serious. There is some seriously hot smut between Cayde, Dean, and Athena. Also JAXON is seriously my favorite character and we get to see a lot more of him in this book. The spice with him is definitely chart topping. This book ends in a cliff hanger and involves lots of triggers so please read those beforehand!
I have to say I have felt better about this book as the boys are caring for her and I suppose in their own way loving her especially after her attack. I will say in this book Jaxon was repeating his internal thoughts way too much. If that ending is a deadly one I think she may go ballistic with those involved, I am still trying to think which father is responsible for the Pixie attack or if it is Romero so that Dean is free for Winter. Let’s see what the last book brings.
I liked the book overall, but I scanned quite a bit of it. I feel like the story could have ended with a trilogy rather than four books. One of the issues I have with this whole series was that everytime one of the guys found out something with Athena, it was never discussed. They said they would protect her, but then they would just let her go off and do whatever. I was completepy over Jaxon and his back and forth by this book.
I haven’t binged a series straight through in ages, but this installment of The Blackmoor Heirs was impossible to put down! The spice level was off the charts, with plenty of swoon-worthy scenes to gush over. Who knew chess could double as foreplay? I absolutely loved seeing this side of the Heirswatching them unravel for Athena made every moment worth it. And Jaxon's storyline is unfolding in such an intriguing way; I can’t wait to see where it goes next! This book truly delivered
Hmmm… I’m reading this right now and honestly, there are way too many inconsistencies. Either Athena has a terrible memory or the author keeps forgetting what’s already been said. Something nice will happen and she’ll go, “that’s the first time he’s ever said that,” when… no girl, he literally said it last chapter. It’s been happening throughout the whole series and it’s kinda throwing me off.
Also, Jaxon is really starting to get on my nerves. He better pull something major to redeem himself before I finish this book…
Too many sex scenes, not enough plot. I gave it 2 stars for that reason only. You know the drill...sex,sex, sex...something happens, then, sex...sex...sex..., then something happens. I'm a person who likes closure, so yes, I will be reading the final book.
This book was really great. The guys are starting to change for Athena. After the incident at the end of the last book and beginning of this book they realize just how important Athena is to them. They begin to show a softer side towards her and start to show protectiveness towards her. We also start uncovering some history of the town and some of it's secrets. The guys also start taking a stand towards their fathers. This book was definitely intriguing and kept me hooked from the first page until the last.
I felt like this was more about Athena and her boys sexying it up than about discovering past truths, and buried secrets. I will say I love the boys and how they're treating now, especially Jaxson and him coming to terms with how he feels. Now with a cliffhanger like that I can't wait to see how it ends.
Never thought I’d see the day where I said there was too much steamy scenes… but there was. I wanted more plot, more story. I wanted more action, more sleuthing. I got bored of all the steam that I just skimmed the book.
Cayde loves her.. Dean loves her.. Lastly Jaxon loves her took him long enough.. Athena has been too much so far… She is a beauty, loves hard and fights harder.. She deserves all that life can give to her..
The way this series just keeps bringing the twists and turns! And let's not forget the SPICE because the chemistry between Athena and the boys is HOT! Can't wait to wrap up this series and see what happens next!!
These books leave little breadcrumbs throughout the series making us follow along. This plot is seriously too good to just walk away from; I just wish it was a little faster paced. Now knowing the back story of our men, we need to know our future!
This 3rd book gets 5 stars. It was still a little dark but we are now understanding what's happening a little more. I cannot wait for tomorrow for the 4th book to come out
Steamy and mysterious, I am grateful that all of the books were published when I starting reading the series, because I have moved right from one book to the next!
