Most of the time, the choices we make in life deeply affect our future, but some of life's downfalls are completely out of our hands. We have to allow ourselves the time to grieve in order to properly heal so we can, eventually, be able to live again. Every Star in the Sky by Danielle Singleton is a much-needed historical romance book that picks us up and sweeps our hearts and senses into the story, traveling abroad and back through generations, carrying us through the powerful emotions of love, heartbreak, joy and ruthless politics.

The story begins with Rebecca Lewis, our level-headed and strong-willed heroine, attending Harvard Business School. Richard Arrington is not the kind of person Rebecca Lewis wants to talk to when she meets him on her first day at Harvard Business School. Unimpressed with his slick and smooth talking manner, she brushes him off, wanting nothing to do with him. Aside from being snobby and English, he is handsome enough to distract her from her goal of graduating first in class. But for Richard it was completely opposite. The moment Richard meets Rebecca, he falls in love. The two embark on a whirlwind romance, but they face obligations from Richard's family. Both of them have fallen for each other, and must decide whether or not to hang onto what they have, or let it go forever.

Thirty-five years later, Richard is Prime Minister of Great Britain, achieving his lifelong dream. This handsome and popular English aristocrat has everything he's ever wanted. Then a scandal breaks accusing Richard of stealing and lying, forcing Richard to face a secret past that has shaped his life – and a love that will never die. Although this story was heart-breaking throughout, it didn't remain tragic or leave me feeling depleted. The heartache actually intensified its sweetness instead of reducing it. What I loved most about this story was its example that true love is strong enough to forgive and withstand any element that threatens to break it.

Every Star in the Sky is truly an emotion-driven masterpiece and ultimately full of love. This story and its characters draw you in so deeply that you will feel their trauma, fear, pain and happiness. As a story, it attracts and satisfies because we are all emotional creatures, and able to identify, to varying degrees, with the strength of feeling evoked. It's so well written, and that's the true gift, that, while you're consciously following the characters' lives, you're subconsciously absorbing the story through the filter of your own life experience and emotions.

Danielle Singleton excels at setting the scene. Amazingly, she manages to find beauty even in the most horrific scenes, which is one of the things which set her apart as a writer. Danielle has a knack for taking her readers deep into her characters' minds, letting them share their most intimate, most uncomfortable thoughts and feelings. Sometimes these thoughts have the effect of completely drawing the reader into the story. In Every Star in the Sky, Danielle provides the reader with a complete and engrossing view of a life-changing event and its aftermath. All together she tells a marvellous tale of perception, loyalty, anger, secrets, lost love, guilt, obsession with the past. And about writing, for more than anything else, Every Star in the Sky is about the difference between fiction and reality, the power of the imagination and the human urge to write destiny.

Every Star in the Sky is an intensely romantic story of the power of true love across time, across social conventions, and ultimately conquering all. The story is very simple and easy to read, but it captivates and touches the reader in a profound way. The love between Rebecca and Richard, from the time they first met to the end, is overwhelming. I highly recommend this book as a quick read for any hopeless romantic. The story may be sweet and simplistic, but it is also dynamic and poignant - a beautiful story of the strength of true love.

Every Star in the Sky by Danielle Singleton is a story about powerful love, loss, family, second chances, secrets that test the strength of family and relationship bonds, overcoming prejudices, but most importantly it's about a very beautiful and sweet love story that start when Rebecca Lewis and Richard Arrington were young and never lets go throughout all the years of hardship.

Rebecca and Richard's story spans over a long period of time and the only thing that we are truly certain about throughout the book is their love for each other. I really liked Rebecca as a character and as a woman – she followed her heart and truly did what she thought was best. Not just for her but for everyone she loved.

Richard is truly as perfect as you’re ever going to get in a leading man, in my opinion. At no point did I doubt his love for Rebecca but I did question some of his actions. He made mistakes but he had his reasons.

A beautifully written book, an elegant and experienced writing style, a delightful story that you will carry in your heart for quite some time. I would whole-heartedly recommend Every Star in the Sky to anyone who enjoys romance because truly I think anyone will find this a lovely read.

"Love in general is a wonderfully miserable phenomenon. The object of one's desire occupies all of one's thoughts, even when one doesn't want him or her too. Love drives people to do and say ridiculous things, and rather than being embarrassed, be proud of their lunacy. Love fills a person with incredible joy and infuriating irritation; a warmth unlike any other and a pain worse than the human heart was designed to endure."
.
Every Star in the Sky was a nice break from my usual fantasy reads. I was craving a good love story to read and that's exactly what author Danielle Singleton delivered.
I loved it from start to finish. It was so heartbreaking and amazing love story, and just so much more than I thought it would be. We follow the journey of Richard and Rebecca from being the students at Harvard Business school in 80s to becoming the state leaders in present, for over 35 years of ups and downs, relationships, sacrifice, and heartbreaks.
Rebecca is a charming young woman who longs to find one true love and to prove herself a capable woman in the patriarch society of 80s, Richard is trying to escape family drama while still trying to fulfill his duties. When they met, they fell madly in love but....
Rishard is a British Lord and Rebecca is from American south, his family wouldn't accept her and she doesn't want him to ruin it all for her. But life has some other plans for these two.
The characters are so real, it was amazing to see them grow over the years.
It was an easy book to go through, the writing style is fluid so you didn't get bored at all. The story unfolds itself beautifully. The plot was engaging and interesting. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the story of Richard and Rebecca, the chemistry between these two was amazing, I loved them so much, rooted for them, I laughed and cried with them, felt their pain and grief in my heart. And the ending left me sobbing.
If you're looking for a good love story then buy this books and get ready to hug it when you finish because it will give you all the feels.

**SPOILERS AHEAD**

Fuck. This. Book.
Fuck. It.

NOT A ROMANCE
A romance has a two simple rules:
1. The couple’s love story has to be the focus of the book
2. There has to be an HEA or HFN

Argh!!! I’m so angry at the is book. It has been sitting in my kindle since 2021 probably. It was the first book I won in a giveaway before I really knew much about giveaways. I didn’t pick it up for a long time because I was intimidated for some reason, but then I finally decided that it was time to put the “READ” stamp on this book. And after the first chapter I was hooked! It’s well written, engaging, compelling. There’s pining, it gave me butterflies, I ate it up because I needed to know what would happen. I loved the protagonists and couldn’t wait to read about their long-awaited and deserved happy ending.

At about 90% I wanted to DNF. At almost 100% I willed myself not to cry because, at the risk of being redundant, fuck this book. It didn’t deserve my tears. A few did escape, but I forced the rest back because this LOVE STORY — because that is what this is, NOT A ROMANCE — duped! bamboozled! hoodwinked! me into thinking it was a romance when it broke the most important rule of them all and did NOT leave the reader with a happily ever after or even a happy for now.

There is a reason we romance readers are drawn to the genre. Whatever chaos is going on in the world at large or in our personal worlds, we take comfort in knowing that despite the ups and downs, the trials and tribulations, any hurdles that have to be overcome, that love will prevail and the MCs will live happily ever after.

But not in this book.

So let that be my warning to anyone who might pick this book up thinking everything will turn out right.

CW: surprise! it’s cancer!

I am not ok right now.

Every Star in the Sky is a love story, of course, and a very beautiful one, but it doesn’t have the ending we’re used to see. This doesn’t make the book less beautiful or amazing. Happily ever afters are different for every person, and this book shows it. Rebecca and Richard met each other when they needed it the most, and I loved how life kept putting them together when they least expected it.

Danielle Singleton tears your heart open wide and rips it to shreds on multiple occasions with this story. One of the strengths of this book is certainly its characters. And the emotional content – and there’s rather a lot of that – is sensitively handled and has a particular authenticity, which I think might be why every low point hurts so much, as you feel what the characters feel. But there is plenty of lightness and joy too – and gorgeous romantic moments that make you ache and glow from within.

The unforgettable story in Every Star In The Sky spans nearly four decades, allowing us to follow Rebecca and Richard's relationship from the very moment it begins. The overall theme of love and loss, to me, felt like a perfect reminder during the holiday season of what in life is truly important. I loved that this book went far beyond being a typical holiday read or even a love story. Highly recommended.

Our lives may not always be fairy tales, but we can experience them in books every day. We can feel the fantasy; we can live the dream. Danielle Singleton whisks you into a heart wrenching tale in Every Star in the Sky, where you feel that you dive into one delicious dream. There's something deeply moving about this story of love that endures despite the passing of time.

Rebecca Lewis is an idealist, a dreamer, a mercurial creature who alternated between childlike whimsy and shrewd intelligence. On her first day at Harvard Business School, she meets Richard Arrington. In addition to being snobby and English, Richard Arrington is handsome enough to distract her from her goal of graduating first. Every Star in the Sky is a story of these two and their hardship.

Every Star in the Sky was engaging and steady paced. I was able to read it in one sitting as I was drawn into the lives of Rebecca and Richard. Danielle Singleton has created a poignant story about two people who try to recapture the love they once shared despite the passage of time. This is an unforgettable and heart-wrenching account of love, family, grief, forgiveness, and life. It's also one of the most compelling stories I've read recently. Highly recommended.

Every Star in the Sky is a beautiful heart-whelming story about love, loss, redemption and second chance love. Things are never what they seem in this story. The story-line follows Rebecca and Richard in their youth to adulthood. It's the beautiful slow churning progression between these two characters that ultimately wins your heart. As years progress, unimaginable things occur resulting in life altering consequences. But unbeknownst to them, forces have been reeking havoc between to two from the beginning leading them in different paths.

Danielle Singleton is an outstanding writer with an incredible gift for making the reader feel so completely entrenched in her story and her characters. Even if this book wasn't a beautiful love story (but it absolutely is!!), just the remarkable way in which Danielle Singleton shares the story had me wholly impressed.

Every Star in the Sky is an emotional, gripping tale of a love so raw and bittersweet that will leave you breathless. This will grab your heart and take it on one fantastic ride. If you're in the mood for a gripping, emotional roller coaster love story, then this is the book for you.

I read a lot of love stories and romance books - but I have never read something like this.

Richard and Rebecca were always meant to be together, but it just never worked out that way.

From business students in the 80s to Prime Minister and presidential CFO in the present… they spend a life time working their way back towards each other.

Some people you meet and you just KNOW. No matter what happens, what path your life takes or how much time passes - they are still your person. That is Richard and Rebecca.

This book ended with a really big ugly cry for me but it was oh so beautiful. Even a small amount of time with your person is worth it, no matter the sacrifice or the ending.

I highly recommend this book for fans of real love stories that don’t always end with a big smile on your face - this is raw, and painful but oh so amazing.

4.5 stars.

I want to thank Danielle Singleton, author and Goodreads First Reads Giveaway for the eBook Kindle copy of Every Star in the Sky that I won in the Giveaway.

Rebecca Lewis, is a strong-willed heroine and level-headed attending Harvard Business School when she meets Richard Arrington, another student from England. He falls for her immediately and she can't stand him at the beginning of a emotional love story that continues for years. The ups and downs in this story kept my attention right to the end. I enjoyed the story and keep thinking about it.

A beautiful but realistic love story

Every Star in the Sky is a romance that takes you through Rebecca and Richard's meeting until their last goodbye, and everything in between. A beautiful story of how love endures and how the choices we make can lead us to happiness or wishing for a different outcome.

A beautiful reminder to appreciate our romantic partnership and sometimes just to dive in and deal with the challenges later, because tomorrow isn't promised.

I absolutely loved Every Star In The Sky. Having been a fan of Ms. Singleton’s books for years, the story of Richard and Rebecca is as heartfelt and compelling as all of the other characters. I smiled and cried and rooted for the couple to realize and share their love through the many obstacles that stood in their way. Thank you for another wonderful novel!

A solid read. I wanted so badly to be more invested in the characters and I couldn’t quite get there. The ending went so much faster than anticipated and felt abrupt. I enjoyed it as a quick, easy read, but wanted just a little more

This romance is both beautiful and tragic! A few laughs are thrown in to round it out. A wonderfully written romance spanning decades.
