Shinsuke Yoshitake is the author-illustrator of many award-winning picture books, including New York Times Notable Children's Book of the Year There Must Be More Than That!, New York Times Best Illustrated Children's Book of the Year The Boring Book, I Can Be Anything, I Won't Give Up My Rubber Band, and I Can Explain. His books have been translated into more than 10 languages. He lives in Japan.

Really nice read, poetic accompanied by simple illustrations. It’s about a parallel world made of the options you didn’t take. I didn’t really understand the ending, but enjoyed what I read and saw up to that point.

I learned Mandarin as a kid and wanted to start learning again. Some pages were really short and some really long. I got 56 new words from this 48 page book. The subject matter and sense of progression kept me motivated to read.

如果的世界 is a voted favorite by primary school students in Malaysia and I’m glad I picked it up! I’ll be checking out the MOE list’s other books.

或許每個人都曾為過去的錯誤和遺憾而後悔，腦海不斷上演揮之不去的畫面，雖然現實世界中，時間是不可逆轉，但正因為每個人內心都有一個「如果的世界」，令我們能夠從這裏進行回溯，思考如果當時做出不同決定，結果會如何。吉竹伸介並沒有鼓吹逃避現實，他提到「如果的世界」和「現實的世界」是同時存在的，「如果」不僅是對過去的反思，更是對未來的期許，重新思考並得到啟發，對減輕心理負擔有幫助，期望你讀畢此書後，能夠隨意穿梭兩個世界之間。
