What do you get when you cross a witch with a world she doesn't know, thanks to her lifelong imprisonment, and four attractive men who had a calling to save her?
Me, that's what. You. Get. Me.
Running for my life has been going pretty well so far, but then I land in Penny Falls and it all just had to smack me in the face. Don't get me wrong, I can roll with the best of them after the life I've had, but when my ex catches me in town, and the four new guys roll up to save the day...well, things aren't quite so simple anymore, are they?
I have secrets to keep if I want to stay alive, but these men- bar the one who hates me- are making it almost impossible to keep my distance- and it would seem that they have some dangerous secrets of their own.
So, what do you get when a witch with deathly secrets, who can't handle her magic and is on the run, collides with men who want to keep her safe and won't leave her alone?
Me. It's always blooming me.
This is a medium-fast burn, why choose RH romance where the FMC does not have to pick between her many men in the end. Due to the burn level, the relationship may move quicker than some readers are comfortable with. Please note that this series contains scenes that some readers may find triggering, which includes (but is not limited to) sexual content- both consensual and non consensual (from outside the harem)-, foul language, abuse and violence. Due to mature content, this series is recommended for ages 18+ only. It is written in British English, with a huge emphasis on tea etiquette throughout.
Eileen Waite is an English author based in the U.K. She has a supreme love of tea and chocolate, and spends her days looking after her gorgeous baby boy. She most enjoys reading and writing and spending time with her husband and baby.
Eileen broke into the reverse harem world as an author in 2020, after reading the genre for 3 years prior. Eileen has always had a love for writing all genres- from horror to fantasy, to contemporary romance to paranormal- and adding reverse harem to the list was a no brainer! She enjoys the group dynamics that can be explored in RH plots and has many ideas for future releases, which include witches, shifters and the devil for paranormal, and gangs, second-chances and more for contemporary!

White/non black authors need to stay away from using Black spirituality/religion in their books. ESPECIALLY if the MC is not black themselves.
The author prefaces the book by talking ab Voodoo & the history of it & it’s been demonized bc of racism. That’s fine bc that is true & accurate.
The author lost me when they said that it stems/takes from Roman Catholicism…….no it doesn’t lol. The enslaved peoples of Haiti got it from their native land/ancestors….Black religions/spirituality is NOT based on any abrahamic religion what the h3ll???
How are you gonna talk about the racism & colonialism & how it was demonized because of that & white wash the history of the religion in the same breath??? AND the character isn’t even Black…..you do know you have to have the ancestry (direct meaning you have to be Haitian and/or Black, specifically a descendant of enslaved Africans) to participate & do the magic????
Anyway the author should have spoken to an actual Haitian or ADOS for the actual history instead of using google *eye roll*. The only people that will enjoy this & other books like this will be white women that just like their male counterparts don’t really care about or respect minorities.
** beware ** Lack of communication used as a plot device.
This book was ok ... I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either. The MFC, Isla, was not a really likeable character. I get it ... Her life experiences made her prickly, but what made the guys like her? The writing and pacing were well done minus my #1 pet peeve (see above).
This look was a bit different then anything Ive read before, it doesnt really focus on religion despite it having some, while it does have the abuse trope going on it's also nice to see the MCs delight at things and makes you think things like how would u react if you'd never watched TV before. The book was entertaining and while there were some typos and stuff like that, and I predicted the end, it did keep me entertained and I will be reading the next one.
So I stumbled upon this little gem. It was a wonderful find on my part and can't wait for the second book. There were a few typos but nothing major. All in all a wonderful story line to get your heart pumping and throw in a little anxiety and it hit all that I needed. Spoiler: * * * * * * * * * I really REALLY hope she does some major groveling on one particular character with whatever comes after the cliffhanger because omg I don't care if it's a true mate his ass needs to rectify his actions.
I picked this book up while waiting for yhe next book in one of my fave series, just looking for something to get me through. I ended up so deeply involved with these characters and the storyline that I couldn't put it down. I read hours after I should have been asleep and even after I set it down, I couldn't stop thinking about it. And, man, talk about a cliffhanger...going to go in search of book 2 now and if it's not out yet, I'll be looking for more by this author. What a lucky find: new series AND a new author to fall in love with
Isla is on the run after being captive for all her life. When she meets 4 men who want to help her, we’ll 3 with a 4th who is pretty grumpy and an @ss a lot of the time. I liked seeing Isla figuring out the world. She has been through so much but she is resilient. Nix, Ember, Blaze, and Ash are interesting. The ending is heartbreaking - I kind of expected it, but it was still heartbreaking. I am definitely hooked and can’t wait for book 2!
It is a good storyline. Some issues with editing, especially towards the end. I will read the next book in the series. I'm hoping the second book is better, and the characters are more...
With that said, overall it was kind of boring. And the characters were cliche. Also, for a FMC that has had all the trauma she has suffered, she didn't shy away from physical touch very much. There are other issues too, but I don't want to do any spoilers.
Isla is on the run from not only her coven but her ex as well. They want her for her power and they need it for there leader. Who happens to be her father but no one know Isla exist because there are no records of her. While on the run she ends up in a small town Penny Falls. There she meets the guys Nix, Blaze, Ember, and Ash. All are excited to get to know her except one and that bites him in the butt.
Just wow!!! Not too often do I get a book that just grabs you and holds on. It was a great start with much potential. I was confused but pleasantly so for the most part. The only thing keeping this a 4/5 is that I would have loved more about the guys. They were a bit 2D at times... I needed more from them to get to know them. Ash had the most personality. I kept getting Blaze and Nix confused at points and Ember was almost forgotten at points too.
Romance, suspense, violence. What more could you ask for. Although I felt it dragged a bit with the whole will she tell them or won’t she tell them why she’s running, I’m mad the it ends on a cliffhanger right when she does. Left me wanting more! Hurry with book two. I’m gagging to see what happens next.
This book broke me. Poor Isla she deserves so much. Not trying to give any spoilers away but her men need to do some much needed groveling in the future. I’m dying for the next book. I read this one twice before leaving this review. I can’t wait to learn more about her guys and her magic in the next book. 10/10 would recommend
I had a really hard time getting through this book. I really wanted to love it but I felt more annoyed then anything else. The guys were annoying and massively childish. Ash was horrible the entire time because he got cheated on so he now punishes all women now. It was utterly ridiculous.
I really enjoyed this. I had it on my tbr for a while but I wish it I read it sooner. The character development is great and watching her grow and learne the little things in life. I think Ash needs to grovel and I don't want her to be the only one trying to understand how the other one if feeling. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.
I thought i knew what to expect in this book but the world building and the characters were something knew and I was sucked in from the beginning. I read it in one sitting and I absolutely cannot wait to see what happens next
Baseline story was good. But Ash ruined the book for me. His character was a joke. There was no need to have an asshole who carries out like a toddler. Story could have had the same ending without him. I knew early on that the book would have him as the cause.

Okay. Dragged on. Not sure why she didn't explain earlier. May or may not read next book in series, but planning to pass on other books by the author (tried two others after this, and DNF'd them both.
Borrowed from Kindle Unlimited.

This was such a good story, I adored Isla and her unique mix of innocence and snark. Although I saw the ending coming, it was very well executed for maximum damage to all of the mmcs and isla.
Seriously, freaking amazing! I love it! I can't get enough, the cliffhanger was painful because I don't want to wait to find out the rest!!!!!!! It's killin' me!
It's always about the execution... Just putting it out there if I was running for my very life and I bumped into someone linked to my past I would not hang around a hotel room going "oh well they are so handsome they won't let me leave!!!!" The characters are one dimensional, couldn't tell you who is is who except the grumpy one.
This story lacks depth which is sad because the plot had me excited for a read.
Crazy weird ride. The story line was a bit hard at beginning to get into but after few chapters I loved it. Didn't like how dismissive the guys were but they eventually listened
An interesting take on witches, black magic, and voodoo. I was hooked for page one and couldn't put it down. And the ending? Yeah, I'm going to need to read the next book ASAP!
