What are two alien Thresher mercenaries to do when their next assignment involves a beautiful human woman with hair like clouds and daring brown eyes? They have some ideas, and it's a well known fact that Thresher twins share EVERYTHING.
Get lost in this new series featuring serious #blackgirlmagic and sexy, edgy alien heroes from the author of your favorite Lyqas.
Nikki Clarke is a poet and writer who’s always loved a good love story in books and on film. Her favorite on screen love declarations in no particular order are: Darius and Nina under the viaduct, Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth in the field (Knightley and MacFadden version), and Dwayne and Whitley at the wedding. Nikki doesn’t mind a little weird (or raunch) mixed in with her romance and hopes to contribute to more happily ever afters of all shades and styles.
It was lackluster to me. The concept wasn’t bad, but while reading I found myself wanting more. It feels like a first draft. I wish the author opted to take a second look at this prior to releasing. Some aspects could have been built out a bit more to add more depth and layers to the story. In comparison to her Lyqa series, this was a bit underwhelming.
Look! I always know I’m gonna get a good time with Ms. Nikki Clarke. She has not disappointed. Love the continuation of world building from her wonderful Lyqa series.
Sci-fi Black Romance is firmly in the grips of Ms. Clarke. Her world building is on point. Her relationship building is well paced and her action sequences are thrilling.
I’m partial to blue aliens. Lol. It is what it is. So I was stoked to see her moving in that direction. Cat like warriors with a fancy for unapologetic Black women. Yes, plz!
This was a really fun story. Short and sweet, but left you wanting more. My only gripe and it’s a big one. The editing in this story was awful. So awful it was like my brain tripping on a crack in her sidewalk while taking a leisurely stroll on a foreign planet. Jarring and irritating. It threw me completely out of the fantasy. Annoying.
I will always recommend Nikki Clarke to those who enjoy reading sci-fi Black Romance. She does it well. She deserves a better editor.
If you want your Black romance to be more otherworldly, then Nikki Clarke is the author for you. This book is set in the same universe as her excellent Lyra Lovers series, but there is a lot more “runnin’ and gunnin’”. That isn't necessarily to my taste, but it fits with the story.
I appreciated that the heroine was recognizable as black and American by her actions and expressions instead of the author giving us a lot of explanation. I like being able to read a story where the heroine's ethnicity isn't the main focus, yet it isn't ignored, either. There aren't a lot of authors that give me a heroine that I can relate to in an alien romance. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!
This is the first book I’ve read by this author and it was really good! I would have given it 5 stars but the edits weren’t there. You would be reading so smoothly and then hit bumps after bump after bumps. Whom ever did here edits was wrong for this. Other than that I loved the book. I love how we got learn each person personality. I also love the we aren’t twins bit! The author keeps a lot of the story and information close to the chest to keep you on your toes and wondering why something is the way it is. It was also a very spicy read! Like really Spicy! It also has action, and some laugh out loud moments. It a slower burn too. I hope she makes this series into audiobooks cuz I would buy them up!
Nikki Clarke is for real carrying Black Alien Romance on her shoulders, because how did she make me fall for two aliens at the same damn time *in my future voice* . Fola is incredible, and she continues to show the many reasons why. I loveee her “I’ll figure it out” mentality. Syree and Hail are a lot to take 🙃 The way they protect, feed, encourage, and love her so boldly and openly. 10/10 definitely recommen!
I absolutely loved this story and you are carrying black girl alien world on your shoulders. I am always looking for a new release from you. I have read all your books and I am so excited for this series! Keep em coming!
I enjoyed this book and the writing was decent. The passion was great as was the peek into the world of black hair in space. However, the characters were a bit 2 dimensional. I didn’t feel like I knew who Fola was besides the girlfriend of the threshers, a BD$M connoisseur, and a pop singer by the end of the book. I didn’t get a good picture of what drives her to make choices, what attracted her to the threshers besides their looks, or who she was on earth. The threshers had a little more personality, but it felt like they were just assigned a quirk each and the rest of their personality was being a warrior.
I absolutely LOVED this story! I can not wait to read more! I thought I wanted me a Lyqa but I think a pair of gorgeous alien cats would do just fine! Lol I am so excited to travel the galaxy’s with Nikki! She is the absolute best at bringing black girl magic and Aliens to life!
Nikki’s books are always so much fun to read and this one was no exception. I loved getting to see a different part of this universe that Nikki has created. And I can’t wait to see what else she has in store for this series.
Imagine Beyoncé (pre kids and Mr Beyoncé) gets kidnapped in the middle of a concert, luckily we have a pair of mercenaries/alien threshers to save the day. Full of adventure and lots of twists and turns and the steam is just right. She’s not kidding when she says Black women are off the world, there’s not a second that’s on Earth and the world building is immersive and it’s insane how Nikki is able to come up with all these creatures and bylaws and it’s pretty easy to get into.
I loved getting inside the heads of Hail and Syree and seeing their brotherly bond. Yes they do share but it’s so smexy-if you like someone to be a director, please believe Haile is ready. Their mother was a trip…mother in laws are mother in laws no matter the planet.
Fola is a great mix of vulnerable and strong. We meet her after she’s been kidnapped so you’re not getting her at the beginning and when she’s most scared, now she’s ready to go home but after meeting the “twins”, is she really ready?
I always know I’m in for a good time with a Nikki Clarke book.
(If someone could invent a machine that takes out knotless braids in 10 minutes, please let me know)
This was a great book of black girls off world. I loved that it was a black woman enjoying her time out in space with 2 aliens worshiping her🥵.
There is a lot that happens in space and the book had plenty of action, drama, adventure, and yes alien sexing. The Thresher alien twins Hail and Syree took their job as mercenaries seriously and protecting the human. I enjoyed the aliens silent conversation about how Fola effected them and their struggle of holding back their desire😜.
The Threshers mom was one tough lady😆. She loves her son’s fierce and took it to a level I was not expecting. The same goes with who ended up being the villain, like holy crap😱. I’m hoping there will be a story about Karissa.
I love anything sci-fi so this book was right up my alley. This happens to be my first book by this author and I’m looking forward to the other books in this series🙌🏽.
As usual Nikki delivers when it comes to a spicy stories involving hot aliens and badass black girls being magical. I really loved Hail/Fola/Syree's relationship dynamic. Especially the sex(God bless her uterus 🤐). The only complaints I have are the constant grammatical errors. I don't know if she had an editor or not. If she did, she needs to get a new one and if she doesn't have one she really needs to get one because the constant careless errors got annoying after awhile. Also throwing suspenseful drama in when the story is 20 pages from being over is never the moves. I really need authors to stop doing that. Imo it was lackluster and wrapped up too quickly and easily. Truly it was unnecessary and shouldn't have been included. Besides that it was a solid story overrated. 4/5 for my rating.
Nikki Clarke doesn’t miss. It’s amazing to me how people write books about space and there are no Black anywhere to be found. Seriously though they can imagine complex alien cultures where the dudes have 3 penises but they can’t imagine any Black people making it space? Anyway I’m so glad I found Nikki. Her skillful storytelling and vibrant nuanced portrayals of diverse Black woman are so important and enjoyable. My only critics are that the editing should match the level of the story and the back door love scene needs a bit more detail and fluidity. I know she will improve if she does another multiple partner. Don’t pass this book up. Thanks Nikki!
I was just scrolling around Amazon, hoping for a rare, not-bland, and slightly funny if I could get it romance despite the races of the characters. Well, it's when you're not looking that you hit the jackpot apparently. I don't know how this author managed to make me feel my culture in the pages of an alien tale but a beautiful, exotic and unmistakably-melanated read I hadn't dare hope for but found anyway and enjoyed down to my melanin immensely while reading it it was. That's a whole lot of rare in one place. #hookedforlife #cannotfindareadlikethisjustanywhere
Started out great, then dare I say too much sex. Too much rough sex with huge male junk and I am sore reading the book. Girl can take a lot and it seams like she got thrashed and came back for more. The skirting the line of consent in one area of the book may be an issue, but for what this book is, I didn’t have a problem with it. Nice plot twist at the end. It also had funny and shocking humor. Just because of the cheese and too much sex, especially in the nasty ass dirt, I don’t plan to continue the next book. Kinda wish I would have read book 2 first.
"But I Am Not Afraid. I Am Not Afraid." Season 3 Episode 10 - "Plato's Stepchildren" LT. Uhura Like the notion of being in the future and being desired the fact this type of books are made makes me want more. I plan to read as many of Nikki Clarke's work as I have access because sci-fi and monster f^ck are black girls too. Sad that the twist resulted in one less hot alien for a sista to enjoy but trade of bonding yet take it. Cannot wait to see if we get contracts spin offs.
Another great story by Nikki Clarke. I was so excited to read this book and it didn't disappoint. I loved the relationship between Hail, Syree and Fola. Would have bee to have a bit more background on the characters but I still really enjoyed it. I was hoping Miko would get a story next but fingers crossed its in the works. Can't wait for the next one in the series.
Ok first of all let me say, this story was AMAZING. I love how descriptive the book was…as if I could envision all of the scenes. Still trying to figure out why Fola was so important to earth…but with the element of surprise towards the end, I could have cared less. DEFINITELY was not expecting the villain to be who it was. Can’t wait to read other books in this series.
I love alien romances and this was a good one to read. Fola is abducted into what is essentially human trafficking ring that spans the universe. Before she is given to her buyer she is rescued by Hail and Syree. I loved how they made me brave without making it seem like she was some kind of assassin and the twins, who aren’t really twins, didn’t suddenly change who they were for her. Great read and I can’t wait to read more from this series
Syree and Hail share everything, but they are not twins. Fola Jones is just trying to survive her very public alien abduction. The universe forces these three to collide, literally.
I really like Nikki Clarke. This is my favorite book of hers. 5 stars all around. Even the reveal was good.
If you like triads, space adventures, and Interspecies romance, this is for you.
My, my, my goodness I was hooked from beginning to end. Hail, Syree and Fola were fascinating characters to read about. The brothers were so funny and sexy. I loved how they already had claimed Fola before letting her know they were interested. The adventures they endured awesome. There was equal amount of super sizzling hot loving between them. I loved every minute of it. Thank you Ms Clarke, I’m looking forward to the next book.
The author is very talented. I read alot of her books and was pleased. But I don't know what happened with this story just disappointing and boring! I stopped reading several times wanting a refund still I read to the end. Still it didn't get any better. I'm so mad it is not worth telling other readers about it.
I love everything about the books the characters whether they were good or bad and I love the details as you read the book you could actually picture what’s going on not too many people can write like that what I will not give anything else away I will say this if you haven’t read any of her books why not start here you won’t be able to put it down
This Is book one of a new series from one of my favorite authors Nikki Clarke. Much like the Lyqa and Somii series, this series is about other world dwellers and Black women from Earth. It should be just as entertaining as those books. I have noticed that the heroine in this book has a snarky sense of humor as does one of her love interests.
Absolutely loved this book!! Mercenary Aliens, abducted human, great world building, all the action, and 2xs the smexy times y’all!! Loved this book and I cannot wait for the next one in this series!!!
This book was nothing short of amazing! I love Fola and her threshers! Who knew aliens could be hot like super hot in all their weirdness lol! I’m ready for the rest of the series!
This story was soooo good. It was a random purchase for me and I'm so glad I decided to buy it. The writing was impeccable and the storyline was engaging. I highly recommend!
It was a great story. Lots of action and some silly moments. But there were a ton of grammatical errors that sometimes took me out of the story. The spice scenes were good. I enjoyed it all around. Good palate cleanser.
I really enjoy reading Nikki Clarke. The beginning of this one had me thinking this was going to be a no. I am so glad I kept reading! I LOVED this book! I hope there are more because I am so invested in Fola, Hail and Syree’s story! Amazing read!
Outside of some typos, there was not a word written out of place. There was meaning behind words I had some curiosity about but did not think it would be significant until revealed. And I loved the dry humor. A definite great read.
