Army sniper Noah Myers wants a second chance at love...
Noah Myers has never been one to play by the rules. He works hard and plays hard and can generally talk himself out of trouble. He met and married the woman of his dreams, and when his son was born he thought his life was damn near perfect. But then things began to unravel, and one night it all went horribly wrong...
Detective Sergeant Amy Wendell is over it. She's been battling to hold down her job on the St. Breaca murder investigation team while bringing up a toddler alone because her crazy ass husband got himself locked in military prison for two years. She hasn't seen him since and for all intents and purposes their marriage is over...
But then Amy is called out to a murder scene one morning and what was a bad situation becomes something much, much worse. Noah is released early on a black ops mission to take out the serial killer responsible for the crime.
The problem? Amy's brother is the prime suspect.
---- Author note
Cross Current is a standalone military romantic suspense that is the second book in a series set in Cornwall. Each book features a different hero and heroine. Book 1, Ebb Tide, is out now.
I enjoyed the mystery aspect but wish we would have gotten more villain in the story rather than the last 1/4ish. It was a little hard to stick with the story but good read(:
🍁 Who knows what? And when did they find out? Leah Murray's "Cross Current" will have you on the side of your seat till the end!
🍁 The twists and turns of this story kept me on my toes, a little longer than expected. We start out with the troubled soul of an Army Sniper Noah Myers. He thought he had it all but one night things went wrong and he ended up held in military confinement for an altercation with his commanding officer, but from the rest of his personality you cannot help but feel he was set up.
🍁 His wife Amy is a well thought of police detective, who gets mixed up in a case that has connections to her vanished brother, a respected but troubled former-addict doctor.
🍁 Nothing is as it seems and to the last minute you are left wondering which of the other characters knows more than they are saying? Who can you trust? Who do you trust? I challenge you to find the twist coming!
🍁 Does the boy get his girl back? 💕 You will just have to read and find out! I am thankful for my complimentary ARC and all thoughts and feelings expressed here are my own.
Amy Wendell is tired. Tried of trying to prove herself at work, tired of being a single mother and tired of the drama in her family. Things get even more messy after she's called to a murder scene. Soon after, her brother suddenly disappears, and her husband is released early from military prison. What started out as just another investigation quickly turns dark as Amy tries to figure out what is the truth, and what isn't.
This was a roller coaster of a book. There were numerous twists and turns and the author had me guessing until the very end. For the most part, I liked Amy and Noah - I thought they worked well together, but there were moments I felt they were being childishly stubborn. Still, the action more than made up for it and I was excited to see how it all wrapped up and who was behind all of it.
Thank you Voracious Readers and Leah Murray for my copy! All thoughts and my opinions are my own.
I was kept on the edge of my seat to find out what happens next in this book. It was a little rough with the editing (thing/think, if/of, additional/missing words etc) and logistics of the storyline (eg. When Amy gets a text from Caroline and suddenly the story continues that it was a phone call or when she takes the newspaper outside to read and suddenly she flipping the ‘screen’ and remote.)
The ending felt rushed with all the confessions at the last moment but I really wanted to know what was in Tim’s belongings and what info Bill could shed on the items that were discovered.
I gave this 4 stars because the story itself was engaging enough but with all these issues with the story, I think I should take half a star off = 3.5 ⭐️
I gave it 3 out of 5 stars. It was well written. The tension and plot progression were excellent. I didn’t see the villain until towards the end of the book, am not sure if that is because I have little experience with mystery or that it was well written by the author. I would like to think it was a little of both. I felt sorry for Katherine, losing both her son and her husband was very difficult and she seemed like the kind of person that needed taking care of. I started this book in April and I kept putting it down to finish other stories because it took a while for me to be pulled into the plot but am glad I persevered, it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience to venture into the mystery genre.
