Stripping has to be better than living under the control of a ruthless crime lord, right?
I may have hung up my knives, but Lapland is not the fresh start I’d dreamt of. Darkness lurks under the neon lights in the form of the three panty-melting assholes that run the club.
Zander, West and Rocky are exactly the types of dangerous men I’d sworn to avoid.
They want me to play by their rules, but I’m nobody’s puppet. Sexy smirks and inked muscles won’t stop me from getting what I really want. Revenge.
Everyone better watch out because my name is the only sweet thing about me…
Killer Candy is a full-length gritty reverse harem romance featuring a sassy stripper who isn’t afraid of sticking the knife in - quite literally. Contains violence and mature themes, so reader caution is advised. This is book one of three.
Holly Bloom has a degree in English Literature, but don't let that fool you... she would pick a steamy romance over a Shakespeare play any day!
Holly writes contemporary romance - the dark, gritty and twisty kind. She loves creating badass babe characters, who aren't afraid to speak their minds, and writing about the men who can handle them - often, there is more than one! Why choose, right?
When she isn't working on her next project, Holly spends an unhealthy amount of time watching true crime and roaming around the woods near her home in the UK. As well as gooey chocolate brownies, Holly’s favourite thing in the world is hearing from her readers.
Everyone treated Candy like shit, but she just took it. Honestly, it was annoying that she was such a doormat when the description made her seem badass.
What a thrilling ride!! I seriously could not put this book down and immediately wanted more, I can’t wait for the next book. This is Holly’s debut book and it was phenomenal, she didn’t play any games with this book’s release I seriously loved everything that was incorporated in this book. Candy, is a stabby Heroine which is my favorite kind! You seriously don’t want to underestimate her but I loved when characters in this book did it was so awesome seeing her kick butt and her dark sense of humor with her sarcastic remarks had me laughing throughout. Her men are pretty amazing too. Zander is the classic domineering a-hole but I love it haha. West is the silent broody beast who you can’t help but love. And Rocky there’s definitely that funny softer side of him that I love to see. I can’t wait to find out more about the guys in general. I’m just so frickin excited for this series. It seriously is one of my favorite RH’s and easily a favorite read of the year for me. It’s book 1 in a series and is slow burn RH with tons of action and dark elements throughout but if you love all of that like me seriously read this book!
So I’ve had this series on my TBR list for a while, the eye-catching covers on the paperbacks caught my eye at a book signing earlier this year and I just had to have them. Well, it’s safe to say I bloody loved this and I read it in record time. Candy is definitely my sort of heroine a take-no-prisoners, capable gives zero fucks psychotic dynamo. She can be a total bitch, makes no apologies for it either but also still possesses a heart buried underneath all of that armour.
Candy has a tragic backstory but it’s shaped her into who she is today. She’s a stone-cold killer who does what she must to survive. After attempting to cut ties with her past she finds herself at Lapland a strip club run by three dangerous men who go by the gang name the Sevens.
Zander, West and Rocky as well as Vixen who is in charge of the dancers are the sevens, from day one they definitely all underestimate Candy making so many assumptions and not recognising the predator that hides beneath her skin then there’s Rocky a blast from Candy’s past who she holds accountable for all of her past pain. But with Candy’s past swiftly catching up with her these men are much better to have onside as allies rather than enemies.
I had a bit of a girl crush on Candy as for the men well it’s early days but they’re all so deliciously intense and offer something different, this is a reverse harem and this first book was all about building the chemistry and connection which it managed fantastically. It’s a slow burner though the language used throughout is definitely explicit and I loved the raw gritty realism this managed to portray.
This is sole POV Candy’s, was incredibly well written and I was engrossed throughout. I definitely recommend it if you like your heroines a lot on the crazy side and your hero’s dominant possessive and very morally grey. An excellent start to this world and I’m looking forward to learning more.
Candy is the kind of dark-twisted heroine you cannot help but root for. After all the horror she's been put through she is a woman out for herself, simply trying to survive. But her past refuses to stay there and old habits die hard. Soon she finds herself entangled in new dangers and under threat by both new and old enemies. Luckily, our girl does not walk away from her fight. And the new men in her life? Well, they all want a piece of her as well. But Candy isn't about to surrender herself without a fight.
Another thing I liked about this one was that the female lead actually made a friend in all this mess. Meiko is a sweetheart and survivor as well. Their quick friendship made me happy and I also foresee a secondary romance between Meiko and a certain member of the Seven.
Anyways, I finished this in one sitting and can't wait to see what craziness happens next!
Killer Candy just abso-bloody-lutely nailed it!! Candy (FMC) isnt as sweet as her name would suggest but what she is hard as nails, strong willed, opinionated and completely bad***. There are so many plot twists and backstories that keep you guessing big time. More so when Candy starts a new job as a stripper/cleaner/or whatever shes told to do and her life collides with the people working there. Especially Zander, West and Rocky. Its a slow burn but my word does that burn steam between all of them. I cant praise this book up enough. I just loved it! A cracking read
3.5 stars Soooo…I’m kind of feeling just meh about this so far. Candy is sort of a badass but mostly it’s just bluster unless she’s forced to act. The guys are all assholes in one way or another and I don’t really like any one character. This is also single POV so that’s not helping.
I don’t know…maybe the next book will be better?…based on the reviews I skimmed over, I don’t have that much hope, but we’ll see.
Not gonna lie - I came into reading this with a little chip on my shoulder thinking this was going to be the usual reverse harem gang troupe.
NOOOOO-PUH
Color me surprised. I thought I was going to get one of those whiny MC bitches that is like 100% up her own ass. Wrong. Well okay - she might be a bit conceited but you know what? She totally can be. I like the way Candy holds herself and doesn't take shit from anyone.
Ugh. I always wish that a MC like Candy would be in all these novels. But you know that isn't the case.
The men on the other hand? Assholes. The lot of them. And I'm totally here for that shit. West is my teddy bear and fuck you if you take him from me. Red is - fucked up. Lol. And Zander - Zander is a cunt and no one can change my mind.
Would I still have him rail take me to his man cave? Yes. Yes I would.
And Vixon? Ugh. I love that bitch 20/10. She can boss me around any day and I'd crawl on my hands and knees for her. ["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
This book was fantastic, Candy is not only a fighter but a survivor as well. She fights for everything that she has and for the ones cares about. Candy is fearless and feisty and does take the BS of anyone least of all the 3 gorgeous and drop dead sexy men that not only run Lapland but are part of The Seven. This is one of those slow burns with all the angst that bleeds through the pages and has you not only panting but begging for more. There is plenty of action. Drama, sexual chemistry that is oh so explosive and some LOL moments that will have you begging for the next book once you reach the end. I am really looking forward to seeing how Candy’s relationship with the guys develops especially with a certain someone (Zander boo I’m looking at you) This was a definite must read.
Plot ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice 0.5🌶️ (so far, I hope it picks up in book 2) Vibes ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1st person POV
Tropes: why-choose, stripper/strip club, mafia undertones, sassy FMC who's constantly underestimated, second chance (with one of the guys), slow burn
Honestly, the plot and the characters were just alright to me but for some reason I am still enjoying it. The FMC has a traumatic past and is currently working as a stripper - she finds a new club in her new town she's just moved to and immediately makes enemies with the HBIC there. All of those scenes were just so angsty they could've been ripped off from any teenage high school movie. There were also a touch too many exclamation points, further making the dialogue and overall vibe juvenile.
The MMCs in the beginning are honestly super misogynistic and I hope it's a character arc but I think the author is trying to pass it off as alpha and hard to get like our FMC is "the one who will change them" because "she's not like the other strippers chasing after us, she has spunk and talks back and therefore has value." Sigh. I don't really like any of them except for Rocky/Red (the second chance love interest). He's the only one, so far, who doesn't treat her like a bimbo from day 1 - obviously bc he knows her from before but still. And what is up with Zander going from 0-100? He's a complete asshole but then sees her getting the tiniest of attention from another man and claims her as his? He gets super possessive and usually I find it hot but with along the other MMCs (except Rocky/Red), he has almost no redeeming qualities and I'm just not feeling the chemistry/tension. A lot of the chapters end with some overdramatic, evil mastermind-esque statement that further shows the FMCs inflated sense of self and became a little annoying because she's so young (21). But like I said, for some reason I am enjoying it and will continue on with book 2. I'm looking forward to some truth bombs and what the aftermath will look like.
This was a phenomenal read, filled with so much action packed scenes!! Ate this book up in just 2 days! Omg the fmc is such a hard badass with dark humor and sarcasm that will not disappoint! This is a very intense story from the first chapter to the very last chapter. it’s filled with lots of gore that they do go into heavily detail so definitely not for the squeamish of heart &major warning for cliffhanger at the end. If you do end up reading this book, please make sure you read the trigger warnings off of the authors website
This book is amazing!! A fierce female lead and excitement, violence and intrigue. All of the characters are likeable and the ending leaves you wanting more.
This is definitely slow burn. I love the badass killer FMC and the plot is exciting. I didn't really connect with the men. They were assholes except Rocky whose groveling I am looking forward to. I hope the relationships get better and realistic and that Candy doesn't become a pushover. Vixen and Candy's new camaraderie seems fun. That ending? Things are finally changing.
This was not as spicy as I'd expected, but it was definitely fun and a great build-up for things to come. I think there were maybe a few too many bitchy stripper moments for my liking, but this book really set things up to go down in the next book (at the time of writing this review, I've read the next book and it definitely delivers).
DNF....yet? Most likely ever but who knows? The creativity it takes to sustain the virginal trope in a book presenting a character with "hoe" tendencies is astounding. Truly. Even if the female character has had sex or participated in sexual activities/behaviour, wouldn't you guess it? She's "pure" and valuable to her male counterparts because of it. You're still a virgin if it's only butt stuff or you had REALLY awful sexual experiences right? Just as long as you didn't do the deed. It's the ONLY way she could be taken seriously or treated with respect. Nevermind that one of the male characters LITERALLY had his dick in another woman's mouth in front of her. I already know everything in this story because I've read it before so I'll just say this. Women are not more valuable when they're "pure". Men don't DESERVE purity in their partners. Fictional FGM doesn't make your book more interesting. It's creepy and offensively UNORIGINAL.
I loved this book! The female character is strong and badass, but still welcomes and owns her own flaws and short comings. She isn’t perfect and I found it much more relatable!
This is superrrr slow burn (no spice in book one 😭) but good lord the tension is building! The prequel and book one laid so much ground work for the next book that there’s not a doubt in my mind it’s going to get good quick!
I loved the book and am super impressed with the authors debut novel! My only complaint I have is that I felt like the book was climbing, climbing, climbing… then it ended. I understand it was laying down the ground work for book two but I kept waiting for something big to happen that never really did.
I cannot wait to see where the Lapland Underground is headed!
This was an okay start to a new RH series dealing in secrets, organized crime, and tortured pasts.
I enjoyed all of the characters for the most part but I think Candy, the female main, irked me a little bit. I think it’s stupid when the argument of why “most girls don’t like me” is because she has pink hair and big tits.
This is a slow burn - there was zero spice, however there was a small amount of tension which I’m sure will grow in the next coming book.
I do have one complaint and it was this quote right here: “The fallout from his arrest would be worse than the Chernobyl exclusion zone.”
I’m sorry but no. Thousands of REAL PEOPLE died during this and comparing an arrest and whatever subsequent arrests happen to a travesty was in poor taste.
I'm not sure how to feel about this series. The beginning of the story did capture my attention and I was enjoying it but towards the end I was just starting to lose interest. I liked West and Zander in the beginning of the story but towards the end I started realizing how unlikeable they are. I didn't like how possessive Zander was of her. Half of the story focuses on the drama in the strip club between one of the girls named Bella and Candy. I didn't really see a reason on why Bella was wanting to bully Candy so badly other than just to be a mean girl. The scenes between them made me feel like I was watching Mean Girls. I'm still planning on continuing with this series because after reading the ending to this book I am curious to see what will happen in Book 2.

It took me a chapter or two ro get into it, but once it was rolling, I really enjoyed it. I love a book that flips the script and gives a strong heroines who can be just as Ruthless as any dark hero without being loud, annoyingly brash, and in your face to an eye rolling degree. Candy was we) written in that aspect.
Star Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 Spice Level: 0/5 Darkness Level: 💀💀/5
⚠️: bullying, murder, body disposal, 🍆 removal
This was my first book by the author. Killer Candy is a slow burn (nothing happened in this book) darkish (everyone is subjective, but I didn’t find it that dark...but I have the feeling it will get darker as the story continues) why-choose novel. Although there is almost zero relationship development in the first book (it's more plot based), you can see the interest the men have in her.
I quite enjoyed this, it started off with a bang, and kept me interested throughout. I love a strong FMC that isn't afraid to get her hands dirty, and Candy certainly fits the bill.
Love a RH and had hoped I would love this too, but have ended up DNF after a few chapters. The FMC just is constantly on about being a "baddass" and for people to not mess with her. I don't mind a strong FMC, especially if an assassin too, but I don't enjoy when they have oversized egos about it..."play with gasoline and you're going to get burned...her days were f*cking numbered". Nope, not for me. I just don't enjoy characters written like that, and prefer a little humility thrown in. It also felt weird that everyone she met was just cruel to her? And what does 'trailer trash' look like? Everyone just called her that instantly and I have no idea why. Every female took an instant dislike to her, and I just wasn't prepared for that much OW drama that early on. I also think that this is all from just the FMC POV, and not from the other MMCs. I do prefer multi POV so you get to know the other MCs a little more in depth, rather than just the FMCS interpretation.
This book was great! The plot is interesting and keeps me intrigued! Candy can’t catch a break but she always gets back up! She has a very smart mouth and a killer attitude! I love her! I did find some issues in fluidity of the dialogue sometimes and was also hoping for some spice, but there wasn’t any! Although, it’s a trilogy so it’s looking like a slow burn! There is definitely sexual chemistry between Candy and the men but their relationships are slow to build, which makes sense considering their dynamic in this first book! Im excited to read the next book!
“But I think you know as well as I do, I get what I want. When I say you’re mine, that means I own you.”
Killer Candy is the first book in the Lapland Underground series by Holly Bloom. This is a full length gritty why choose romance that features a sassy stripper who isn't afraid to kick some ass.
I enjoyed this book so much! I loved Candy, she was such a sassy badass character that didn't care what people thought of her. If I hadn't read the novella before this then I think I'd be a little lost but I loved where this book went, it really set up the rest of the series!! I wanna see more of her and these guys as well!!
I really enjoyed this book. I grabbed it on a whim after seeing an advertisement for it on Facebook and I’m so glad I did. . “We’d already kissed before at the manor. But this? This set my entire freaking body on fire.” — Killer Candy: A Dark Gang Reverse Harem Romance (Lapland Underground Book 1) by Holly Bloom . West is my favorite. F A V O R I T E. I love Candy and her take no prisoners attitude and her back and forth with everyone made me lol a few times. I’m dying to dive into the next book!
This book was an intriguing ride!!! I did read the prequel novella first so I had the background info and story on Candy, Rocky and Hiram. I would recommend reading it so you understand the story line better!!! I can't wait for the next book and to see what happens with the men of The Sevens!! Its gonna be all sorts of nasty and depraved. Candy is badass and I love her. I absolutely recommend reading this start to a great series
Killer Candy was everything I wanted and more! Candy is such a fierce, unapologetic main character—strong, smart, and a total survivor. I loved how dark and gritty the story felt, with just the right amount of heat and danger.
The dynamic between Candy and the three men was addictive and full of tension; every scene had me on edge. Holly Bloom does an amazing job blending revenge, emotion, and spice into one wild ride. I couldn’t stop reading and didn’t want it to end. Absolutely loved it!
Back to back Candy named MCs lol. This a slow start for sure. Romance isnt exactly blooming but the tension is there. My favorite for now has to be West and Rocky (Red), Zander, well the jury is still out. I liked that they kept this book as a sort of building blocks for the upcoming books. The premise was interesting, we see pasts unfolding and an unlikely friendship between Candy and Vixen. The characters are multifaceted and developing. I really liked the addition of Vixen and Mieko as her girl comrades since in Reverse Harem its usually condensed to just the Harem. Pretty exciting start and lots of potential.
This book quite literally hits that “sweet spot” of a main character who is a strong badass that’s not afraid to own her shortcomings. I hate it when there is so much false bravado to a MFC that it doesn’t ring true. Candy is different though and I love her.
This debut author also did an amazing job if developing the characters over time throughout the book. In the beginning, there doesn’t seem to be a redeeming thing about anyone we meet. The way it grows is so delicate and believable that I couldn’t stop reading.
This is for sure a slow burn with lots of potential for how the story develops further.
