Het is nog steeds zomervakantie, maar die duurt niet lang meer. Max haalt zoals altijd grappen uit met zijn vrienden (of zijn het vijanden?). Het begint in de bioscoop. Max heeft zich verkleed als grappenninja (zoals je op de cover kunt zien) en daardoor ziet niemand hem. Toch levert de grap niet op wat hij verwacht had…
Alle personages die je kent uit eerdere boeken komen terug: Bibi, Hugo, Sven, Pip, Eend en de ouders van Max. Maar ook de burgemeester die we in het vorige boek leerden kennen heeft weer een rol in dit boek. De kinderen halen steeds grappen met elkaar uit, maar er blijkt nóg iemand te zijn die grappen uithaalt. Het duurt even voor alle kinderen doorhebben dat er nog een grappenmaker is.
Als ze eenmaal door hebben wie het is, bedenken ze samen een wraakplan. Nu Max en Bibi een gezamenlijke missie hebben, lukt het ze wel om samen te werken. Ook alle andere kinderen (en Eend) doen mee.
Superninja is een super grappig boek zoals we gewend zijn van Matt Stanton. Daarom wil ik weer de vertaler noemen die een compliment verdiend voor het vertalen van de woordgrapjes. De vertaler van dit boek is Angelique Verheijen. Het boek is niet per se vernederlandst, maar de grapjes zijn nu ook gewoon super grappig in het Nederlands.
Ik kreeg dit boek van Harper Collins als recensie-exemplaar in ruil voor mijn eerlijke mening.

Dit deel is duidelijk niet mijn favoriet. Beste Max: nare streken uithalen is niet hetzelfde als grappen maken.
