A heartbreaking new novel, with Greek mythology and romance, perfect for fans of Madeline Miller's A Song of Achilles, Scarlett St. Clair's A Touch of Darkness, or Molly Tullis' Consort of Darkness: Greek Gods Romance.
Every stupid thing anyone has ever done has been done for power, or love ... or love of power. The Gods are no exception.
Athena has been told by the Fates that humanity is on the brink of extinction. Unbelieving in magic or gods, the insidious fear within the humans will drive them to their demise.
Only a priestess sent by the Gods can save them.
Prometheus, creator of the humans and bearer of foresight, is adamant that sending the priestess to Earth will cause more harm than good. He has no intention of aiding the goddesses' plan; Fates be damned. He also has no intention of falling in love.
When he steals white fire, a symbol of the Gods' knowledge, and gives it to the priestess ... the Fates align. Humanity will never be the same again. A new era will begin.
But at what cost to those involved?
Gwyneth Lesley's "Prometheus' Priestess" is the first standalone novel in the Femme Fatale series "that will sweep you off your feet before crashing back down to Earth as it delves into the human condition with staggering accuracy."
"Prometheus' Priestess" is a modern-day Greek mythology retelling containing themes of sexual assault.
Gwyneth Lesley is the author of the Femme Fatale series and the Underworld Novellas, containing modern-day Greek mythology retellings. Expect heartbreaking, steamy romances or cosy feel-good vibes in her books (depending on which series you pick up). When she’s not writing, you can find her cooking in her kitchen or going on bush walks in her home country of New Zealand. You can keep up with her adventures on Instagram at @gwenthegreekmythgirl and her books at www.gwynethlesley.com.
And yet being around her was the most exhilarated he had felt around humans in eons.
Prometheus Priestess reimagines the myth of Prometheus, Titan god of Fire, with a modern twist and a star-crossed romance.
I was intrigued by the premise and the writing hooked me from the first page. It's a fast-paced read for those starved for modern greek mythology retellings.
The story follow Amara, a priestess sent by the Goddesses to humanity to save them as they are brought to the brink of destruction as their faith in the Gods and Goddesses of Olympus begins to extinguish.
Amara is reincarnated as a human female to not arouse suspicions—however as 25 years have passed, her human mind had lost the memories of Olympus and her purpose on Earth: teaching humans the art of alchemy.
The Goddesses found that the only way to unlock Amara's abilities was to introduce her to fear by subjecting her to difficult trials and push her to the point of breaking until she regains them.
Prometheus, the Titan god and known as the creator of humans, knew the Goddesses plan is likely to cause more havoc and took no part in it.
But love always carves an unexpected path.
As I said, the premise is intriguing but I have my issues with some of the execution:
• Prometheus needed to be fleshed out. • I found myself skimming some scenes as I felt not much was happening. • At certain points in the story, I felt a bit lost.
I also have to point out that trauma is a prominent theme in the book and haunts Amara throughout the story as she was sexually assaulted. I just... I wasn't prepared for that scene and it unsettled me.
(If you would like to skip the sexual assault scene, it happens in Chapter VII, at page 76-77 specifically, the scene starts with someone forcing himself on her and the assault happens off page).
I sadly did not feel I was attached to the characters aside from a few scenes that did stir my emotions, but I have to give it to the author for crafting a unique myth-inspired story.
I received this book as an ARC and was definitely intrigued! A Greek retelling with Prometheus, which is hardly ever done? Sign me up! This book gives you knowledge of the Greek gods and goddesses, in case you’re unsure of who is who and what they do; you’re given a little bit of an “adventure” with Amara(an immortal priestess sent to Earth) to help save humanity from brink of extinction and of course a little bit of spice. Very excited to see what comes next in this series!

⭐⭐⭐⭐.5/5
This had mythology and romance. That reeled me in and the storyline hooked me. And I for one was not disappointed. This book was very descriptive, fast paced and it was easy to follow the events. Also, if one didn’t know the Gods and Goddesses, there was a couple of pages that gives the background on them and the other characters in the story (bonus!). The story between Prometheus and Amara were relatable and I love the connection that they had. I would love to see what is in store for them. I am also excited to see what this author has next up her sleeve for her other books.
**I received an ARC of this book for a fair and honest review** This book was a solid 3.5* read (rounded up in my rating) with an interesting premise, solid characters, and good editing.
The Greek myth retellings are done constantly, but I have yet to read another one about Prometheus or Amara. As such, this story already received bonus points. While this book is listed as a romance, I would say it falls primarily under epic fantasy with a twist of romance involved.
The characters were all well-written and Amara and Prometheus were extremely relatable. The experiences were handled well (trigger warning: sexual assault) and not overdone. Even the more morally grey characters weren’t muddied.
I have a very hard time getting through poorly edited books and luckily this book was not one of them. Minus a few switches between limited and omniscient points of view that bugged me, there weren’t any major editing errors at all in the digital version.
Overall, this book was really decent! I recommend it for sure.
*I have received this as an ARC for a honest review* Thanks to the author for offering a free digital copy of her first book. Honestly, I’m so impressed with it. I’m always in love with the Greek Mythology. * But first, here is a quick description of the story: After fear starts digging deep into the humans on earth, some Olympian goddesses decide to take an action by sending their priestess to earth so she could teach the humans so of her alchemist knowledge. However, every decision has its consequences. * Strengths of the book: * Before the story starts, the author listed a whole list of the Greek goddesses and what they are known for. This is a great idea! I used it a lot like a glossary. * The author showed an excellent understanding of the Greek methodology and its basics. * The idea of linking the Greek goddesses to our current era is just something amazing and unique. * The story never stops developing! It gets more and more interesting as you read! As well as it gets more complicated. * The writing was clear and understandable MOST of the time. * The story it’s is so beautiful! It’s was simple, but it wasn’t so heavy. It was very decent.
Weakness of the story: These are not real weaknesses as much as they are my personal opinion. * I’m kinda fine to some extent when coincidence plays some part in the story. However, in one of the most important scenes of the story, coincidence played a big role that made me question if this scene is logical. * As I have said above, the writing was good except that SOMETIMES I felt it’s too descriptive. * Some of the descriptions weren’t clear enough for me. Such as saying something like, “he gave her a look that made her feel like there must be a tomato sauce on her face.” Well, what time of smile is that?

Trigger warning: Rape
“ You will find another mortal body and I will find you. In every lifetime, my love. It may not be in this one, or even in the next century, but I will find you. You must stay strong. You must fight, even when the days seem bleak and the nightmares come.”
I have always loved greek mythology. Most of the times you will find that the retellings are based around hades and Persephone and not so much the other gods and goddess. I was very excited when I saw that this story is about Prometheus.
Prometheus’s priestess is a retelling based around Amara and her mission to help save humans from the path of extinction. Along the way she receives some not so helpful help from some of the goddess always looking to serve their own agenda. In walks prometheus (Theo), to help guide and support her during the hell that the goddess are putting her through. The chapters are short and the story is fast-paced and easy to keep up with. If you are unsure on the gods and goddess there is a list of everyone you will meet at the start of the book that will keep you well informed.
Now while there is not so much a happily ever after for Prometheus and Amara, it does give you an ending that makes you eager for more of their story.

Tw: sexual assault
First of all, this book was, overall, a good and very entertaining read!
What I loved the most about it was the use of Greek Mythology! I was able to get to know a lot of different Gods and Godesses that I wasn’t familiar with😊 The book also includes additional pages with the names and descriptions of the different Gods, which I found extremely useful! I also loved the slow burn romance between the two main characters, and how they got to deeply know each other well in a beautiful way🥰
I will be honest, the cover made me think that this was going to be a very spicy book, but it wasn’t really the case. There was indeed spice and romance, but it wasn’t the main part of the book at all. I would say the book is more plot based, which I definitely like!
The writing was really good and easy to read, that’s why I read it so fast😌
Now, I thought that the main goal and plot of the book were confusing at times and I would forget what the main character had to do and how she would do it😅 but thankfully the author made sure that the characters talked about it enough and I would be quickly reminded. Definitely want to read the next book now🤩 mainly because the ending was pretty good😌
I received this novel as an ARC for an honest review . I have always enjoyed Greek mythology, so when the author inquired, I was ecstatic. A modern-day mythological love story- it was well-written and well thought out. It was easy to get into and it easily kept my interest. Most of the chapters were short, making it easy to follow the events as they went. Even if you don’t know much of Greek mythology, the author gives some explanation as to whom each God/Goddess is and what they represent.
The storyline itself was very intriguing. I am excited to see how it pans out throughout the rest of the series.
Received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Basing my review on that this is the author’s debut novel. I love a good Greek mythology retelling and Prometheus’ Preiestess did not disappoint. Featuring heavily on the original mythology but with a story twist filled with romance and adventure that keeps you turning page and page. I truly enjoyed Lesley’s writing style and ability to draw the reader in with great sentence structure and deep in-depth writing that aids in picturing the characters and locations before you’re eyes.If you’re unfamiliar with many of the Greek Gods and Goddesses, a very helpful feature is the background pages and descriptions.
A fantastic romance that brings the old Greek mythology stories to our modern world today! The story was not rushed, but also moved along quickly. Written very well, and I was attached to the characters and the story the whole time! So well done with bringing in old and ancient histories with a modern setting. The author blends the two worlds perfectly .
(I received this book and an ARC in exchange for an honest review) This was my first Greek mythology book and I wasn’t quite sure how I would feel about it. But I’m so glad I read it. It grabbed my attention fairly quickly and I was eager to continue reading. It was extremely well written and characters were easily relatable. I thought this book was very fun to read and would definitely recommend to people who have never read any Greek mythology and are looking to expand their reading palette.
I was given an ARC for my review and I am a little late on posting it.
I struggled to get into the story at the beginning, especially with all the Gods and mythology. But once I got my bearings on who everyone was… that was a game changer! wow! I couldn’t put this one down and can’t wait for more in the series! Not my usual gente but this was so well written I plan to learn more and read more of this genre.
I absolutely loved this story. It was so close to the original mythology that I could enjoy it and not focus on everything that was wrong, but also had a story that captivates you and sucks you in almost without your permission. This book is amazing. Hands down one of my favorite mythology retellings.

Um, hello Prometheus 😏🤭
This book was SO GOOD. This was actually my first time reading anything based off Greek Mythology 😮 The beginning was a little slow for me to get into and I was trying to wrap my head around the different deities being introduced.
Once I was able to understand more & the book progressed, it got better and better! I loveeee this story of Amara & Prometheus 🥺
There were so many lessons throughout the book that made me sit back and reflect on my personal life/purpose on Earth. I got so wrapped up in this book but then we got to the ending…ugh! I need a book 2 ASAP 😅
This book will be released on December 12th, so exciting 🖤 Give me more Prometheus!
An honest 1.5, but i rounded up. While an entertaining and quick read i found that Lesley’s writing fell flat in many ways. Amara and Prometheus were developed as well as character can be in 255 pages, and the ending of the novel felt rushed. Most of the novel felt rushed. Using third person omnipotent was an interesting choice, and had she had 150 more pages it would have truly panned out successfully. Lesley is a writer with passion. It is apparent that she loves to write and tell stories. I fear one can have passion and be without talent when it comes to writing.
*I received an ARC of this book courtesy of the author
I had to come back and re-evaluate my rating after I cooled down a bit. The ending of the book was a bit of a cliffhanger and while I know authors love to do that, I was not prepared for it, at all. That being said, I really enjoyed this story and the author’s writing style. At about 1/4 of the way through I was attached to the two main characters and emotionally invested in their futures.
I am looking forward to the sequel to find out what happens!

So I'd never read any books to do with Greek mythology before, but I think this has now converted me 😌 there is an element of romance incorporated as well which worked perfectly, with a majority of the story based in Edinburgh, Scotland
The book was so well written that I'd get so invested in Amara and Prometheus' love story, I'd often forget that they were meant to be on a mission to save humanity. Though there was still time for some smut in-between 😉
I actually didn't expect the ending to go the way it did either. And although it wasn't the ending I would have wanted, I was still really satisfied with it 😌
The chapters were small, which I love as it ended up being such a quick and easy read for me. As I'm new to this genre, the list of Gods and Goddess', with added information, at the beginning was really helpful for me as well
I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series! 😄
*4.5 stars* I received an ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. Greek Gods, mythology and romance - yes please! This book was right up my street and I was not disappointed. I loved Gwyn's writing style - it was fast paced with short chapters which kept you reading through effortlessly. I also loved the character descriptions for those who may not be as familiar with the mythology. I would like to thank Gwyneth for the opportunity to read her new book in advance and really look forward to seeing where this series goes!
I love Greek retellings and stories that have Greek mythology at its core so I was hooked right off the bat. Prometheus is such an under-explored character when it comes to retellings. I rarely see him featured so it was such a nice change! The characters, Amara (a priestess sent to earth to save humanity) and Prometheus seem like unlikely heroes. While I wish Amara had a been shown a bit more disastrous and that the seven sins not been explicitly explained each time she encountered one; I appreciated her struggle. The love story that develops within the pages felt a little forced at the beginning but eventually felt a bit more believable. In general the shift from Olympus to the real world felt clunky; and I was curious to know how much money Amara had when she left Paris that she was able to pay for a hotel for weeks before she found an apartment and a job. Prometheus’ love story felt more authentic, and his devotion to humanity (like legend says) was well done. The storyline blended POVs from Amara, Prometheus and other gods; but I found I loved the little chapters in the Fates’ perspectives the most. They were detailed, slightly spooky, and elegant. The Fates are such interesting characters, I do wish we would have seen them a bit more but felt that their presence was perfectly balanced in the story to match their roles.
Quick read, intriguing, and even though we know the legend of Prometheus I still find myself rooting for a different outcome for him.

I really enjoyed this book!! Some of the pros about it absolutely are the short chapters. It’s so easy to follow and the guide in the beginning of the book is SO helpful to those who may not be well versed in mythology.
I NEED more of this story!!! I have so many questions I need more answers to.
Prometheus' Priestess by Gwyneth Lesley is perfect for fans of Greek mythology. The story revolves mainly about a priestess named Amara who was sent to Earth to save humanity from the fear which threatens to consume them. In her human form however, she struggles to remember and fulfill her purpose so she was subjected to an onslaught of trials which could either unlock her power or ultimately break her.
I've always been a casual fan of all things related to Greek mythology so reading this book has been a delight to me especially the bantering between Athena & Aphrodite. This book is not the retelling that I initally expected, but a refreshing take on the relationship between the gods & goddesses of Olympus and the humans.
Moreover, reading about Amara's trials both captivated and made me uncomfortable which is why I think the author really did a good job in depicting fear resulting from trauma. And the scenes with Prometheus in it always had a sort of warmth and coziness which makes me adore him so much.
I just love the overall message of this book about fear, love, and hope. Definitely a book I'd recommend.
This book took me by surprise. I completely devoured this book into the night and finished it into the next day. I was given an ARC for an honest review and that’s exactly what you’re going to get!
Amara is our priestess who has been handpicked by Athena & Aphrodite to carry out their bidding to save humanity from extinction. She then is born into a new world and is expected to save it with no memory, recollection, or even an ounce of knowledge to go about this. They then challenge her by the seven deadly sins to try to awake some memory of her past life. Meanwhile, while all of this is happening Prometheus & Amara are slowly learning to love each other and it’s just the cutest and most desirable romance.
The book will give you different POVS very randomly so hopefully you can detect who they are at the moment. This book has meddling gods/goddesses, BETRAYAL, romance, and definitely some trigger warnings about rape! So handle this book with caution, because this book talks about the journey of healing after.
Hoping there’s a second book, because it leaves you on a cliffhanger! Congratulations to Gwyneth Lesley for an amazing book and thank you for the opportunity to read this ❤️
I received a copy of this book in return for a fair and honest review.
As a child, I loved finding anything and everything I could about greek mythology but since then I've read very few novels in this genre. Because of that curiousity, I immediately fell in love with Amara, Prometheus, the other gods and the unique plot that this story contains. As it has been such a long time and there are so many greek gods and goddesses, the character description at the start really helped to link all the characters together and avoid confusion over names later on.
Another thing that I loved was Gwyneth's writing style. With smooth world transitions and short chapters that keep you entertained, the story was an easy and enjoyable read. I easily became attached to the characters and I absolutely loved the chemistry between Theo and Amara. In addition, the story flows in such u fluid way that I can clearly tell the amount of effort and good editing that has gone into publishing this book, which is something you don't always see.
I loved reading this story and now I can't wait to read book 2.
I have received this book as an ARC for an honest review.
TW: mentions of sexual assault
For those reading would definitely suggest having at least a basic understanding of Greek mythology or mark the page with the descriptions. I found myself having to go back to the pages to remind myself about their specific focuses.
I found the short chapters, and the gods’ perspectives to be intriguing. One thing that I missed was a true tie to the romance. I didn’t feel a huge tie to Prometheus and his love for Amara. However, the end was a great lead up to see what happens next.
*I received this from the author in return for an honest review 4.5/5 stars | TW: SA
Honestly, I really loved reading this book! I’m just starting to get into Greek inspired romances, but I’m really enjoying them a lot. This one was done very very well and reads amazingly. The characters were fun and I loved getting to know them through this book.
As someone who doesn’t know a whole lot about Greek mythology I also really appreciated the guide in the beginning of the book and saw myself going back to it a lot.
"If only we didn't use demons or monsters as crutches"
I had the honor of receiving an arc for an honest review. My rating is based off this book only. I would love to read the entire series for a complete rating.
Let's get straight to it!
Con: (Yep I only have one that is worth mentioning) ■I need more backstory from Prometheus. Although I really liked his character, his story did not feel fleshed out. I wanted to know more of him and the reasons behind his motives. Maybe that will come into fruition as the series progresses🤞🤞🤞
Pros: (Literally sooo many) ■SHORT CHAPTERS 👏👏👏 ■Fast pace from beginning to end ■Kept my attention and it was an easy read! ■The world jumping was smooth! ■Immortals in love.... need I say more?!?!? ■Perfect amount of spice🌶 ■Retelling of Greek Mythology in an unique way!
All in all I am excited to see where this series goes and plan to read book two!

What happens when humanity is in danger and the Gods are forbidden to interfere? Of course, that isn't going to stop them from meddling, no matter how much they might be afraid of Zeus. For Amara though, she is caught in the middle of the plotting and scheming of Olympus. How can she survive when three Goddesses are actively working against her?
Prometheus' Priestess is a riveting tale of human nature and the power of one's choices. Gwyneth Lesley paints a vivid picture from the very first lines, leaving the reader feeling immersed in the story. The characters, though familiar, have a refreshingly new take on their mythical origins. With an ending that leaves you eager for the next installment, this is an excellent beginning to what will undoubtedly be an exceptional reimagining of Greek mythology.
Really interesting read. The story around Amara kept me hooked in and wanting to know more of how she made her way through as a mortal.
I actually don’t know much about the story of Prometheus but this story made me want to look into it more. Greek retellings are done all the time but this paring is one I haven’t ever seen yet.
Amara and Prometheus were relatable and I really liked the chapters in the other gods point of views.
TW: Sexual Assault
I would recommend this if you really enjoy Greek god retellings while there is romance in this book I wouldn’t say that’s the main focus of the story.
This book was really something special. I felt like Amara was someone I’d actually met, and you really fall in love with her. It has rich character descriptions, it’s super easy to read, and i felt hooked right from the start. Do yourself a favour and read this book. I hope you like it as much as i have
*I was kindly given an arc of this book by the amazing author for an honest review*
Fast paced modern retelling of an underrated Greek mythology titan and god in his own right who sacrifices himself for what begins as "for the sake of humanity" his precious creation, but molds into a deeper conviction of love for an immortal soul who likewise sacrifices her very existence for the sake of humanity. Amara struggles to find purpose and belonging in human form with her immortal life forgotten where as Prometheus holds the answers that would unlock the power of alchemy within her which has the potential to overturn the end of the human race. . . Or so it seems.
" 'I think that's why humans chase freedom,' 'I think they know something better awaits them. It causes them to stop enjoying the moment and forces them into a perpetual loop of becoming better. It makes them the greatest creators of all time. And it steals the magic of their lives in the process.' " this line from Prometheus was absolutely beautiful.
I would just like to start off with the fact that I instantly fell in love with Amara and how she has serious feminine energy! Like from the very beginning you can see and feel how her character emulates a side of femininity that almost feels lost in our modern society. Like many, myself included, those peers aspire for great things in their purpose in life and what they do with their time. She desires a slightly altered course than that of her peers and wishes to have her own home. Her curious nature and adventuresome spirit never falter as she begins her task as a human and struggles even there to find her way and understand that inner voice calling her towards destiny, or rather fate itself. This story helped to give me a new perspective on the characters of the Greek gods themselves, like for example in most stories I'm never a fan of aphrodite but I absolutely love her character in this story.
In the beginning interacting between Amara and "Theo" it all seemed a bit rushed and not much verbal interaction took place and gave their character's chemistry to grow other than inner monologues. A few instances took a rather odd focus point for especially Amara's character and "Theo's" POV of her in the beginning. There was a lot of building up to their fist encounter and mert ups but then it all suddenly felt rushed and there wasn't enough depth in their interactions and instead felt choppy and one dimensional and a hard as a reader to connect to either character in these scenes. After half way through the book however, both begin to gain a much more personable connection and the chemistry between them solidified.
I really wanted to and felt like there was a possibility to connect with Amara's character when we first met her and she expressed her inner desires for more of the "stay at home" vibe of femininity rather than to pave the way in a more "career" accomplishments like how it is today in our modern western society. I liked that honestly because it was different yet she still could retain her strengths and talents as a women and not be taken advantage of or shove to the side because of her demeanor to desire something that could be considered "lesser" in the eyes of peers. Half way into the book I struggled to connect with either of the main characters and honestly felt more of a connection and chemistry with Aphrodite than anyone else. Then, half way through I began to understand and like both of the main characters along with their actions.
Also, for someone who grew up in France and spent her entire life there she holds no mannerisms or personality from that culture where as the people from the UK seem to hold a cultural significance in this. It's odd how she views their communication and cultural perspectives yet she herself doesn't seem to hold any after accumulation into Persian culture for 20+ years even if her soul is from the immortal relm. Idk it was just a bit odd given how much the Scottish persona was displayed when she ventured to Edinburgh.
Theres a lot of sudden growth you could say for especially her character without a lot of thought process in how she works through things it's just suddenly, like 'oh I'm broken. . . Oh I don't want him thinking I'm broken. . . Oh I'm all better" in two weeks. . . That being said, you get to see the strength of who Amara is at her core as she faces challenges and like in real life she fails many. But! But you get to see her again her confidence and inner strength encouraged by prometheus's assistance to where she has the ability to challenge the gods of Olympus.
About 55% into the book I finally felt engaged with the characters and got into a groove and the story really picked up and things get very interesting! I'm really glad I continued on because the twists and turns are great in the book! Unfortunately I'm not a fan of the ending but it just a personal preference but maybe you will be. I feel like this was wasn't so much of a "romance" as it was a modern fantasy because while there were lots of themes of romance it wasn't the main premise of the book and wasn't what centered the plot. It was beautifully written and I'm very greatful to the author for sending me this book to review it and give a maybe too honest of review for it. Great read and I look forward to the next book in the series.
