Fascinating. A picture of unconditional love
At last, the girl has a name! The author’s ability to infuse the scene with all the emotions and feelings the characters are experiencing is truly exceptional. The strong bond of love between the Dante and the girl is the gold standard of all bonds, most of us fall short of it. The plot is engaging and the reader must continue until the end, immersed in the adventure and the dangers the characters need to overcome. The characters are well-developed and relatable even though they live and breathe in faraway worlds we can only imagine. As always, the underlying theme boils down to good vs evil. The book ends with a balanced mix of closure and anticipation for the next book. I’m sure there is more to come.

Shadowed Bonds pulled me in from the very first pages and refused to let go. This third installment in the Sunspear series doesn’t just raise the stakes it burns them into your heart. The grief, the longing, the unbreakable connection between Dante and the Girl all feel raw and achingly real.
What struck me most is how deeply emotional this book is beneath all the action and epic battles. The Black Dragon isn’t just an external threat; it feels like a living symbol of despair, control, and the temptation to surrender when hope feels pointless. The ultimatum serve or die casts a shadow over everything, and you can feel the weight of that fear pressing down on every choice the characters make.
Dante is relentless in the best way. His devotion, his refusal to let darkness claim the one he loves, is both fierce and heartbreaking. The Girl’s internal struggle is just as compelling her past, her pain, and the pull of the abyss make her journey feel painfully human, even in a galactic, fantastical setting. Their bond is tested in ways that feel brutal and honest, not convenient or easy.
