I’d messed up. More than once. Now my secret was bursting to come out.
Everything was normal, until Chase drove into Bangor. He was back in our small town, where we’d fallen in love before. I couldn’t believe he was in front of me, my sexy mountain man. This was the second chance I’d hoped for.
Chase had left me, but I was determined to change all of that. We were meant to be together and before long, I was trying to get his attention. Then I got it. All of it and it was just as overwhelming as before. Chase was the only man who knew my body so well. He’d taken ownership of it so long ago, taking part of me with him when he left.
Chase’s old life and shady business came to haunt us both in Bangor. I wasn’t prepared for the violence, or the interference from my brothers that hated Chase. I wasn’t prepared for the pregnancy and the secret baby I carried. It was all wrong, yet felt so right at the same time.
Nothing was as it should be, but I couldn’t turn away from Chase. He was the one for me, no matter how dangerous his new life was. I just wanted to be part of it, but would he ever forgive me?
Lauren Wood loves to read and write about irresistible alpha males who are naughty and dirty. If you like bad boys, sexy neighbors, billionaires, and swoon-worthy romance, you've come to the right place. Her alpha males are strong enough to make the hard decisions in life, but sweet enough to melt for his mate.
She is a big time fashionista, loves trying new hair styles, and if she is not writing, you will find her in a gym working on her body to get the attention of her very own bad boy. *-*-*
Chase left his family ranch his girlfriend Amanda along with his hometown of Bangor fourteen years ago and headed for the city. His life in the city isn't one to write home about it's a life of crime and illegal businesses. He might be rich now but at what cost? Now he is back in Bangor and runs into Amanda at his ranch not realizing she's now a veterinarian and she's there to give the horses their vaccinations. They are both shocked to see each other and things don't go very well. You can feel their hurt, anger, heartbreak and frustration when they see each other but you can feel their connection and chemistry. Even though it been fourteen years neither one of them have moved on and found someone special. Even though he's changed and is darker she can't stay away and decides to pursue him unfortunately his criminal friends followed him to Bangor and chaos ensues. That's not her only problem though her two brothers despise Chase and decide to take matters in their own hands which sets off a domino effect on everyone's life. Chase leaves before she can tell him she's pregnant which causes another set of problems and emotions. Can they get past everything that has happened to work out their problems and become a family or is it already to late? I have to say I didn't like Chase at all and his background was left vague. Her brothers were controlling as well and what they did was totally unacceptable. I just didn't feel the connection or love between them other than the sexual one.
I received a free ARC from Booksprout an I'm voluntarily leaving my review.
This was just not it. I should have DNF it, but I had already wasted my time, so why not just finished it. This story made no sense. You never really found out what Chase did, just tons of illegal stuff. Cops never got involved with all the shooting and people missing. Amanda and her two brothers were just ridiculous. I refuse to believe small town people operate in such a way. Like no common sense at all. Her brothers couldn't protect twat, but had common sense enough to drug Amanda and keep her in an abandoned town. They were so concerned to drug her. What? These two men burned down a barn, almost injured a man who had nothing to do with anything, because they wanted to protect their sister. Their grown sister that still ended up doing what she wanted to with Chase. I have so many thoughts and questions about this book. You want me to believe that this small town man was a major crime boss. Chase was so immature and selfish. He only cared his desires and showed his true self to Amanda time and time again. I giving this book 2 stars because I wasted my time with this tangent.
Where to begin... In the first book I literally thought the hero and heroine were too dumb to live. By the end of the book I didn't care what happened to them; I just wanted them to go away. In this book, I really liked and was invested in the hero\heroine. It was a good storyline and the characters' actions\reactions made sense to me. Parts of it were even funny. So, what's my problem? The hero is a criminal. The author never clearly defines what he does and at first is sounds like petty stuff. By the end of the book it seems more like organized crime... You know, like prostitution, drugs, murder... really BAD things. Stuff that if I read about it in the news I would think that guy needs to go to prison... Forever! So here I am wanting a HEA for a hardened criminal... I'm conflicted! Which is a very unsatisfactory way to end a book. So, while I can't give it more than 3 stars, it is better than the first book.
Lauren Wood’s Second Chance Small-Town Series is definitely one for those weekends that your wanting to getaway from all of the hub-bub. The chemistry between the dream and the reality is like smoke you can always smell it, but you can’t always see it.
I’m looking forward to seeing the next episode of the Small town Mountain Men and the sexy (and multicultural) women that captures their hearts.

I enjoyed this read. It was an entertaining blend of twists, emotion, tension, drama and turmoil. The characters had a lot of chemistry and I liked them together. I thought this romance did a good job of tugging on your heartstrings while also keeping you anxious over what would happen next. This is my Volitional, forthright review.
Chase and Amanda story really gets you going into an emotional heart wrench. He left her when she needed him the most! Family situation didn’t make it any easier on her relationship and now he’s back more danger and family just keep butting in. Can these two face the future together and be a family.
Chase and Amanda dated in high school. He left for the city didn't come back for fourteen years. Amanda didn't want to go with him. They loved each other and started over again but trouble from the city followed him home. Her brothers hated him and cause them a lot trouble too. Great read!😁
Arc review for honest review. Chase kellerman is back at the ranch in Bangor after 14 yrs looking for what he lost amanda samson ,but he also brings the city back with him . Awesome read .
This is book 2 in the small town mountain men series. The characters have a second chance at love but will it all fall apart when danger strikes? I voluntarily reviewed this ARC.
Second Chance is book two int the series Small-Town Mountain Men by author Lauren Wood. Interesting read a bit melodramatic for me- yet still a nice read. Enjoy!!
