The World’s a Mess. Why Should You Care? Our world is remarkably automated. Resources remain in abundant supply. Life should be so simple. So prosperous. And yet the vast majority of people still aren’t making a decent living. America was built on principles of personal freedom, rugged individualism, and self-sufficiency; no country has ever accumulated more power and wealth, abused it less, or used that power more to advance the human condition. However, over the last fifty years our freedoms have been threatened by mounting personal, corporate, and government debt. In this third installment of the Wolfe Trilogy, Jarl Jensen and his cast of deep-thinking heroes explore the shortcomings of today’s global financial system in easily understood anecdotes and analogies. Ultimately, they offer up a vision for solutions that could help enable sustainable liberty and prosperity for all.
We live in a very modern world when most things that are created are made to make lives easier. The ideal life is that of comfort and ease. Humans have perfected the techniques needed to feed, house, protect every person yet this is something we still don’t see as accessible. Right now, especially with the US and with the pandemic, housing, jobs, living wages, and not having our whole lives revolve around our jobs are at the forefront. Our system is broken and for people with power and money, it doesn’t matter right now. So, how do you change a system that needs an overhaul but that change doesn’t have a backing? Jensen talks about how both sides that are fighting can come together to help fix the economy of the US and eventually, hopefully, over time, the world.
Jarl Jensen is not the sole author of this book but a group of specialists wrote this to help combat one-sided bias. The book has a really interesting layout where you could see conversations and brainstorming sessions between the authors. From names alone, it looked like both men and women authors had a part in the book as well as people from different political views.
13 well-organized chapters and epilogue. Has great storytelling with short lessons in economics and history are throughout the book to help readers understand the importance and necessity for a new solution. Each author also talks throughout the book in their area of expertise or viewpoints. Also, there were bits of humor throughout the book which I appreciate.
Really easy to read for all levels and interests. Jensen even says “This book is for everyone, because the Big Solution is for everyone, no matter who they are, where they come from, or what god or political party they pray to.” I would have loved to have this in one of my anthro/sociology or economics courses in college. Enjoyed the book and planning on reading it again and taking notes instead of jumping in as I did. It’s ok to jump right in but there are a lot of things I appreciated in this book and want to write them down.
Jarl Jensen, like many of us, believes that life should be prosperous. We’re living in that fantasized future of robots, automated features, information in a millisecond at the touch of a button, and technology and weapons that our predecessors couldn’t even begin to imagine. There’s plenty of food (we know how to mutate crops), plenty of land (we don’t live on big portions of it), plenty of water, plenty of resources (renewable are always an option). The only things we lack or struggle for are the things to which access is controlled for the profit of others. Why do you have to earn one and a half times the current minimum wage to have a chance at affording a basic apartment? And that’s in the states with the lowest rent averages. The Big Solution is a collection of voices commenting on our financial system, breaking it down while explaining why we all exist in one of two states: debt or fortune.
The Big Solution: Deactivating The Ticking Time Bomb Of Today's Economy by Jarl Jensen gives a different view on how both sides can come together and agree on how to fix our economy. This book explains the economics of the United States and how it measures against other countries. The problems are escalating, and a solution needs to be achieved soon before our great country self-destructs.
I enjoyed reading The Big Solution as Jarl Jensen maps out a plan most can agree. This book would be beneficial as reading material for higher learning classes. I loved the characters the author weaves into the story so you feel as if you are witnessing their conversation. While the book is entertaining, it is very educational. Change is never an easy thing to accomplish, and something drastic would have to happen for people to let go of their securities.
Reading The Big Solution: Deactivating The Ticking Time Bomb Of Today’s Economy (The Wolfe Trilogy) by Jarl Jensen is a before and after in the way I see everything. It's the first time that I read a book of this kind. Who drove me into The Big Solution was Jensen himself. His life and work made me realize that there is a man capable of talking about improving society. This novel deals with economy, politics and everything that comes with them. And most of the time those are not easy talking topics. When someone wants to express an idea should be really sure about facts and that's hard. I have always found it difficult to talk about these aspects of society. Buy I have been always sure of my position. Reading Jarl Jensen helped me a lot to clarify my thoughts and have a better look of the whole politic and economic picture.
The Big Solution is the third installment in The Wolfe Trilogy with an examination of the world's current financial standing and with an exasperated attempt to understand the state at which our economy is hurdling. It's difficult to imagine how people who are living on the most basic, lowest, minimum wage are expected to live in today's economy, specifically with the cost of living only increasing and stretching those dollars more and more by the year. This one reads with an interesting approach, yet it's full of actual information and statistics that affect the people in our world today who feel helpless in their situations. The author's suggestions for correcting these issues are detailed and contain the information to answer questions that those reading would be asking themselves.
I have always remained curious about how the world works and how despite having humongous resources we lag behind in providing the basic 3 meals a day to a large part of the population. This book has succeeded in answering many of my doubts and is teeming with shocking revelations about the global financial system. The thing which I liked the most about the book is how instead of directly putting forth his opinions, the author exploited anecdotes and analogies to put forth his point. This made understanding, even the hard concepts, quite easy.
I am in love with this book and wish I had got this before. The book sheds light on many hidden truths about economies and debunks them elaborately. A must one for all the individuals who wish to learn about the working of economies in depth.
It is fascinating how the author weaves in a relatable group of characters (within the book) to display the inner workings of our economy, today. This book is great if you want to learn how money flows and circulates itself through loans, debt, corporate business or banking. The language is simple and comprehensive which makes it suitable for anyone to read. If you were hoping to find an interesting book that breaks down economics without boring you, this might be it! Jensen also introduces his own ideas and solutions towards the current problems we face. But it is done in a subtle way where the reader ends up learning more about banking than they might have thought they would. By the end of the book, you will realize how much insight you've gained about the world and economy.
“The Big Solution” written by Jarl Jensen is a very interesting book where the author talks about money, economy and society. The author presents “the big solution”, as he calls it, in a very clear and captivating way. He poses this idea as a new way to think about money, businesses, private property, social justice and liberty. What I liked the most about this work is that it introduces a holistic approach to find a solution to the problems and difficulties society and economy are facing nowadays. The way in which it is written, in the form of personalised anecdotes, guides readers through the narrative and makes it very easy to follow and understand the concepts discussed. It is a great read and I strongly recommend it.
The Big Solution: Deactivating the Ticking Time Bomb o Today's Economy (The Wolfe Trilogy) by Jarl Jensen is an exciting book and one that raises many questions about the state of the world. While not political, the book chimes in on the state of current affairs economically speaking. The stakes are high, and there are no easy solutions. The Big Solution breaks down various concepts in economics, making them easier to understand. There are plenty of analogies and anecdotes that back up Jensen's opinion while making the subject matter more straightforward to grasp. With many people struggling today to fit into the world's economy and thrive, this is the perfect book to open your eyes to a new way of thinking. Highly recommend.
I can definitely say that great covers make a good impression, and this book has it! Looking at the cover, you can definitely tell that it is very inviting. The Big Solution: Deactivating The Ticking Time Bomb Of Today’s Economy, penned by Jarl Jensen, is more than just a book that talks about the economy. It presents things that happened in the past, how the American economy evolved into something that makes it what it is as of now.
I have learned a lot through this book. Economy doesn't really interest me much as it is kind of mixed with politics but this book lit my mind with different things and made me curious to learn more about it. Maybe there are things that I was not able to connect to but it was definitely a very interesting read.
The Big Solution by author Jarl Jensen is the third book in the Wolfe Trilogy, from Forbes Books, and it delves with how the global financial system works.
What I liked the most is that it is written in conversational style and it clearly explains economic concepts, including examples, anecdotes and analogies; so, the contents are understandable for all kinds of readers. Also, the main goal of its perspective is to gain sustainable liberty and prosperity for all people, to get a better situation for each one.
All in all, this is a really good reading for understanding more about the economical and finance world situation as well as our domestic economics.
An interesting reading With every book that I choose to read, I learn something new, even though it is fiction. “The Big Solution” is the third book in the series called the Wolfe Trilogy. It´s an absorbing book written by Jarl Jensen. In these pages, Jarl Jensen, together with his team, delves into global financial system´s flaws. Through anecdotes and analogies, readers might understand part of the situation. I was glued to the pages all the time; I found the plot interesting and catchy. I liked the author’s writing style which is simple to follow. In fact, I could follow the thread of the story well and I learned many things from it. I highly recommend it!
Author Jarl Jensen presents us this interesting book, "The Big Solution", where the deficiencies of the current financial system world are exposed and explored. This author has an interesting approach on this subject and his writing is simple and concise. He also offers a vision of solutions that could help enable sustainable freedom and prosperity for all. We live in an automated world, where everything should be easy or at least it is supposed to, but the reality is very different. We still see people struggling to earn a decent living. This book helps us to see from another perspective and it tries to make everyone prosper. I think everyone should read this book.
This is a very down to earth book. The world of economics and politics can be overwhelming and boring sometimes, but author Jarl Jensen managed to captivate not only readers who love this subject but also casual readers who want to get a taste of how everything works in economics and politics.
It is a very simple read; the narration and timing in the book fits nicely with the information the author is sharing. The fact pace also keeps the reader in contact with the amount of information they are receiving.
To sum up, "The Big Solution" is a great read to learn and observe the real life around us.
This book takes us on a journey to understand the past 50 years of the American economy and how it has gradually changed over the years. Globalization, mounting debt, and more are only a few of the topics touched on by the author. The author blends his personal thoughts on solutions to some problems within the individual topics and uses a wide-ranging array of examples to showcase his points. While I found this to be interesting, I didn’t always agree with the solution the author brought forth. It is certainly a thought-provoking book though.
What an interesting book! It has been a long time since I read something that impacted me, such as this reading. The anecdotes shared are very interesting and some even thought provoking. I found the vision shared in this book quite absorbing. This is the third installment in the Wolf Trilogy and a great third book I believe. The book is well written and very well organized, with visuals that invite reading. Chapters are clearly separated. While reading I was completely absorbed and far after finishing it, I kept thinking about it. I recommend it!
Author Jarl Jensen has the courage to place before the public a novel that is not only searingly written as a story, but also points out the flaws in our current society. Jarl is an inventor of multiple patented medical devices, and as a successful businessman and executive for several companies he now turns his creativity to writing this astonishingly fine book of ideas that could change our world. THE BIG SOLUTION is the third volume of The Wolfe Trilogy, and carries the hottest sparks!
To understand Jarl’s stance, the trilogy should be consumed in toto. Before this Book 3 opens, he has stated, ‘A master storyteller is able to tell a story to an elephant leaded with new ideas and change the beliefs and abilities of the elephant. Educated and wiser, the elephant can now simply stand up and break it rope. This is such a story. It is a story for you; it is a story for humanity; it is a story that will break our collective rope so we can stand up and be free.’
Keenly aware that the best way to point our flaws and focus on repair, Jarl continues to tell a story that underlines all of his concepts. Jarl’s synopsis is a fine roadmap to continue his bristling series: ‘Justin Wolfe and his crew have to overcome academia’s fake science, polarized political beliefs, an entrenched financial system and the assertion that growth is progress. To make things appealing and interesting, the heroes don’t just put together a bunch of footnotes, charts and economic papers, they set out to solve the problems of the world in simple language using anecdotes and analogies that anyone can understand. Justin, Evan, Connie and Laz, all take turns making their unique point of view known, debating the pros and cons; all while bringing their colorful personalities into the mix, creating a hilarious atmosphere, while delivering a big solution.’ A quote from Justin Wolfe, “Our world is remarkably automated. Resources remain in abundant supply. Life should be so simple. So prosperous. And yet the vast majority of people still aren’t making a decent living. America’s promise of equal opportunity, a sustainable future and liberty for all has become a distant memory. But I, Justin Wolfe, have a plan to finally change the dynamics that have been holding this country and the world back. Imagine a simple idea that could change the world forever. An idea that will deliver us from this economic train-wreck and prevent further hardships from falling on the shoulders of future generations. Shouldn’t we get started?” ‘
Jarl Jensen, through the voice of his titular Justin Wolfe, bangs the drum for waking up and paying attention to our world as we find it, and in doing so, rev up the changes that MUST happen! Rarely has an author demonstrated that an exceptional story can become a viable, nearly irresistible, force for change! Highly recommended.
