Raised for military duty, the fate of the world rests on the shoulders of Captain Sahara Scholz.
Powerful forces still want the old status quo; where the unchipped were reduced to subsisting in desperate slums, where life was a daily fight for food, shelter, and basic medical supplies, whilst the chipped lived in 'perceived' bliss.
Against this backdrop, a killer, known only as ‘The Leveller’ has been targeting elite VIPs. Yet it is the suspect in the crimes that makes this mystery truly perplexing. CCTV footage points to a man who has been in a coma for three years.
Charged with solving the case, Sahara finds herself entangled in a web of intrigue and treason that crosses parallel worlds and stretches the bounds of reality.
Soon, she discovers she is not alone in her quest. An entity with superhuman strength and an appetite for destruction is plotting against her to achieve a dark and twisted agenda.
Can Sahara save her family and restore peace? Or will her world be jolted back into techno-slavery and the complete loss of human freedom?
Disclaimer: I received an arc of this book before it's release in exchange for an honest review.
It starts off slow as the scene is set and we get an in story recap of the world building from 1st series of books and what's changed in between. However things pick up and become rather intriguing in chapter 3 with the arrival of the American detectives and the questions they bring to the table.
I really enjoyed this book. So that I wouldn't have any preconceptions I went in without reading the synopsis so I didn't know what the focus of the story would be. As someone who loves NCIS, X-Files and anything sci-fi or dystopian this book ticked all the boxes for me.
The story is set in a dystopian future I would say roughly a decade or so from now if I had to hazard guess. Within this futuristic world the characters have developed technology at their disposal so prepare yourself for a fair amount of science and technology jargon that sounds very cool (even though I have no idea of it's accuracy or if it's just fiction).
We get a great mix of characters, some are more fleshed out than others but I know from previous books by this author it is highly likely that the side and background characters here could play a more integral role in later books in the series. They wouldn't have been included if there wasn't an underlying reason.
It was enjoyable seeing some old faces from the first set of books and picking up on references to that era throughout. Even though that is the case I think this book is written in such a way that it isn't essential for you to read the first set beforehand to still enjoy this one. You could always go back and read them after although there would be a few obvious spoilers doing it that way round.
I really enjoyed this - it may be short but it didn't half move along. I particularly enjoyed how the story started, drawing you in almost immediately wanting to find out what's going on. A good range of characters, although I found the police officers rather caricatured, and just enough information being fed to keep you hooked. A good end to the story, explaining a lot, but leaving you wanting to find out more. A great read and I shall definitely be reading the rest of the series.

I did really enjoy this exciting first part from this sci fi techno thriller series! Great ideas, plot line & characters, kept me completely hooked from start to finish! Well thought out & written, great to get lost in! I will look for more by this writer & do recommend!
This is an interesting story with good characters, an unusual story line, and a unique world situation. As a military brat I didn't care for the relationship between the Army father and daughter because no one I know behaves that way. But, other than that it's a good story.

I liked this book in many ways the character were easy to relate to and i did not realize i had finished the book. At the end I was left with wanting to read the next one just to see how the story was going to continue.
Why not 5 stars? this is the start of the journey and not the end so it has so many question at which to answer or hope get answered in the later books but it did its job gave you enough background to understand where the story may go.
I would recommend this book to anyone and to the author thanks i hope lots read your new series

Dark Elsewhere Book 1 A Sci-Fi Cyberpunk Techno-Thriller Series By Luke Davids
The dystopian society of “chipped” and “non-chipped” has been outlawed. Society is returning to the old ways...
Captain Sahara Scholz is in charge of investigating a web of murders by a entity with super human strength with sinister plans that will stop at nothing to achieve its goal.
The investigation leads to extraordinary truths of projects long since discontinued that is somehow connected to a John Doe who has awoken from a coma of three years.
I'll be honest, I wasn't sure this book series was going to pull me in. Book 1 isn't super long, but it starts out with a mystery to be solved, and just takes off from there. I went straight to Book 2, so I think that says a lot for how much it hooked me.
New author to me also, but I think I'll be sticking around to see where the Dark Elsewhere series takes me.

This is a thriller set in the future that has a technology that is superior but has been used for either really good or bad. It center around Sahara who is from a military family and is a hero in her own right. She is the read of an elite group to find out what’s behind the murders of VIP’s. This is the beginning of a terrible adventure that gets dangerous as she’s searching but finds she’s not the only one. Who will succeed to find what they are searching for and what will be the outcome?

Received this book as an ARC. I've read the books prior to this and was very pleased with this new concept of the future. The action was intriguing and I was able to keep up with the characters. But this new book, continuing in the theme of the prior books, I was unable to keep up with the character development. The beginning was really good and thought this was going to be a super good follow up book. About mid-way, I am confused on the characters. It was hard to keep going. Maybe the follow up book with help but I am not as excited as I was at the beginning of the book.
I became totally engrossed in the story. Very interesting twists and turns. The references & characters from Dark Elements leave you wanting to read the next book in both series. My personal opinion is fantastic read. Find a quite place and enjoy.

Received as ARC. A man with no memory wakes up in the hospital. Under suspicion for murders in Chicago, while in a coma. He eventually turns up in Chicago, learns who he is, and some idea of who and why they are trying to kill him. Having previously read the Dark Elements helped with some references in the story, but it is not needed to enjoy the first volume of a really good series.
My first time reading this genere and the way I feel Luke has written this has made it easy for people to understand and I really enjoyed this story. The characters are easily identifiable and the descriptions of people and areas made me feel as if I was there too. Brilliant book and definitely should be on your must read list. I received this book for free and wanted to give honest review.

A good start to the series. A man wakes from a coma with memory loss and is somehow linked to murders and the military. Contains mystery, action, suspense , humour and otherworldly beings. Piques your curiosity as to where this will go next and I'm certainly looking forward to finding out.

Wow! A exciting new book to keep you on edge of your seat. Throughly enjoyed the charters and plot. Looking forward to reading the 2nd book soon. I received a copy to read and can honestly say it worth paying for definitely.
Excellent reading. Sahara is brought in to try and solve the mystery of unrelated deaths. She finds a man who cannot remember anything but he seems to be a double of another person. Wheels within wheels. well worth reading.
This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building. Can't wait to read what the author brings out next. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

If you like dystopian novels involving parallel universe and and the battle between Manc and machine you will love this - blade runner meets terminator sort of.
Good unique short story. Starts well with good characters but a bit slow at first then ramps up nearer the end.. I was left wanting for more so cannot wait to see what happens next.
