This book was actually better than the 1st one so I was pleasantly surprised. Still not something I would encourage a young person to read. It very much has the vibes of "I'm better than other girls because I'm cool and hot and they're ugly", it's cliquey and very biased. I have the capacity to read it and think our protagonist is the absolute worst person throughout the whole thing, but she is clearly meant to have a very long self-discovery journey through the series that has yet to be satisfactorily resolved. I just don't think the book handles any of the flaws in characters with any kind of condemnation that it should. I'm sure it's coming as the series progresses but imo you should be able to read the first few books in a series with the understanding that there is a lot of growing to do.

Editing to add more: The very awful media references are toned down in this one! Great choice there. However the writing is still hilariously bad (at one point a boy's voice is described as "cracking with puberty") and our main character gets the worst of it by fair (she gets mad at her boyfriend for joining football because she hates football, and quote "he's supposed to give her the attention her father never did".). Basically the series could actually go somewhere, but the writing is bad enough to hold it back, and all satisfying plot and character arc resolutions are being held off for later books in the series.

I definitely liked the second book in this series a lot more and it was nice to see Sadie come into her own rather than trying to be like everyone else. I like how the author was able to introduce Amy’s love interest in such a wholesome way. I will say that I’m excited to see where this series will be heading now that the characters are gearing up to confront the main antagonist.

In this, the second in this middle-grade series, Sadie feels on top of the world because of her best friends in the Pack and their place in Charm School where girls with animal powers learn to fit in, become leaders, and avoid the evil scientists at the Institute of Behavioral Science. But then, things fall apart as her grades plummet, her group's spa project exchanging services for chores is revealed, and the secret she is keeping from fellow Pack member Lindsey threatens to unravel. Plus, her relationship with Beak, once so promising, now seems to have ended. At her wit's end, Sadie is ready to give up and go home. But maybe, just maybe, telling the truth and giving a heartfelt apology could make things go right again. Fans of this author will be entertained by the story while finding themselves in some of the characters and ultimately being reminded that being true to oneself is always the best way to go. It'll be fun to see what happens next.

Sadie thought joining the Pack would be the hardest thing but, it turns out the year has just gotten started. Sadie is trying to manage her school work, while working through her feelings for her crush, and managing her powers. Sadie is also keeping a secret from her friends that can alter their friendship.

This was the second book in the series but, I think the first book was better. There were a lot of cringe worthy situations in this book. For example, Sadie is mad that Beak is spending a lot of time playing football and she made a comment that her dad does the same thing. Then Sadie ignores his calls and messages but, gets annoyed when he doesn't respond right away. It seems Sadie keeps slipping back with her growth and making the same silly mistakes over and over instead of learning from them. This wasn't my favorite book in the series but, I will still read the other books to see how the series ends.

Claw and Order is the second book in the Pack series about girls with animal powers. Sadie navigates her classes, starting a cheer squad, taming her powers as a lion, and keeping a huge secret from her best friend Lindsey. This was a fun middle grade read, and I loved the different personalities of Sadie and her classmates as it relates to their specific animal lights. I appreciated how the book resolved itself at the very end, while leaving a loose end to be continued in a possible third book in the series. Thank you to NetGalley for the digital ARC and the opportunity to share my opinions on the book!

Decided to give Lisi Harrison’s newest middle-grade series The Pack a chance after loving her nostalgic series The Clique growing up. Just like her newer series from 2021 Girl Stuff, this just doesn’t come near being as good and to me reads younger than The Clique even though they are in the same reading category. I’m a big fan of Lisi Harrison, but unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend this to any middle-grade readers. Maybe I’m just not enjoying her newer writing style compared to her older books. 🤷🏻‍♀️

This is very good fantasy book for younger teens. My daughter loved reading this series and begged me to read both of the books in the series. I read both and can see her delight for the book. It follows Sadie and her journey to understanding her light in this world. The second book picks up right where the first book ends and end with a pretty big event at the end. I would recommend this for any younger teens and pre teens.

I received access via netgalley, but my opinion is my own.
I've also ready her Monster High books and this has a similar feel to it with the school/friendship drama, but the different powers is fun. However, it didn't quite draw me in as much as her previous ones I have read did. Overall a fun little read though

This book was fun but not as great as the first one. A bit disappointed.

3.5/4? Not as good as the first book but still really entertaining! Cute. Elementary students could read this fine.
