You can tell this is a first time author because there is a few minor typos. With that said I read all the way through the book, keeping an open mind. This book is graphic and violent but it works. Told in three perspectives the author takes her time to establish the story. At first there seems to be more questions then answers and it seems to be super jumbled but then it starts to move together nicely. I was shocked, surprised, disturbed, and glued to the twists. There is a taboo love story, characters that have flaws but you love them by the end. I also like how she took bold moves and risks in her style. I say give this newbie a chance. I can’t wait for the second part to come out. I’m doing four stars because I think it’s a great beginning for her writing career.

Wow! What an interesting book this was… I was told by a friend to read this but I was skeptical at first due to some graphic violence and a rape scene. This book is definitely not for the faint of heart that’s for sure. The story kept me reading and I had a hard time putting my kindle down… (I forgot to pick up my nephew from school). There was a great deal of typos which got on my nerves a lot but I guess that’s expected from a new author??? Anyway, the ending will probably give me nightmares for weeks to come… you’ll see what I mean when you read this book which I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I can’t wait till the sequel gets released! The author will go far in her writing career that’s for sure.

I am not a reader by any means. Any book must grab me and suck me in at the 1st chapter and must keep drawing me to get me to finish the book. Hunted did just that. Chapter 1 starts out with what apears to be a random act of violence. With every new chapter a slight change a new character a new way at looking at the story. At chaper 20 i was already upset that book 2 is not in print yet and just like a tv series i will have to wait to see what is next.
I have shared this book with several people i know and the one thing they all say is where can i get a copy...
LaBrie James will remain on my must look out for list. I can't wait to see what is next.

This was such a hard story for me write. I usually write romance but I wanted to challenge myself. This book will take you places you won’t expect. It’s a mystery and full of questions until the end. Give this book a chance, read at least 100 pages and tell me what you think! It’s my first published book!

Terrifying, Lennox & Juliette facing a terrifying nightmare, one that doesn't seem to end. I was captivated from the start. I love how LaBrie James writes. The twists and turns of this story told through the eyes of just a few characters and yet I felt like I knew all the characters in the story. The ending was great, MORE TO COME!

I would recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys murder mysteries and love stories (as long as you don't mind graphic details). I enjoyed the overall storyline. It was unpredictable, suspenseful, and exciting. If this was a film, there would have been several scenes where I would have jumped out of my seat. I appreciate that the author included a forewarning that this material is for mature audiences only. This novel is violent and includes graphic description of sexual activity (some consensual, some not consensual). What I liked most about this novel was the creativity. There were many twists and turns and never a dull moment. The author is able to elicit images that are dark and disturbing, and in the next few pages, evoke feelings of nostalgia and the whirlwind emotions that come with falling in love, even weaving in humor from time to time. There is a lot going on with the story and each character, so it was perfect that the story was told from the perspective of each character, who revealed something deeper about what was occurring in the moment. The characters were well-defined and each had their unique voice. Overall, I enjoyed reading this novel and finished it fairly quickly because the mystery aspect held my interest.
My primary criticism is the age of the main character (Lennox) in relation to the sexual content. I wish Lennox and her classmates had been in their early twenties, perhaps a college setting, instead of teens in high school, given that a good portion of the novel would fall under the genre of erotica. Due to my career field, I tend to be hypervigilant about anything that may be deemed inappropriate involving youth. Even in work of fiction it's hard for me to see beyond that. The age of the characters and numerous sexual references made parts of the book uncomfortable to read. I struggled to see one of the main characters as a hero since he had an immediate attraction to our under-age protagonist, who is only 17, when the two characters meet. Mid-way through the novel she turns 18, so this detail may not matter to most people, but if I could recommend one change to the story, it would have been to increase the age of Lennox and her friends.
My second criticism is that the most exciting part of the book falls within the last 60 or so pages. I would have loved for the latter part to be told at a slower pace, leading up to the epic finale. There was so much to absorb in the last 60 pages! The author could have written an entire novel from that section alone. I look forward to reading the 2nd installment when it becomes available.
One last note: I only noticed a couple grammatical errors which I thought was impressive for a first-time novel considering the length! Very excited for the 2nd book!

Twists & turns, strong imagery, left me wanting more!!

Wow! I can’t believe this is LaBrie James FIRST book 😳 A few pages in I realized I was going to be putting in a late night or two. What a wild ride, this book had my mind going all over the place!!! And had me yelling, “what in the world”out loud a few times 😅
If you like mysteries with a dark side you will LOVE this book. The author really brings each character to life, you can’t help but feel strongly about each of them. What I REALLY love is at the end I am left thinking, who is the hero?? Hello book club talk!!! Because the best books cause great conversation. Is it the person who’s life was all a lie? Is it the person that stayed strong? The officer that reacted on his “gut” feeling?

‼️‼️SPOILER‼️‼️‼️
I have to point out how much Forty-One. Cory: is so creepy but amazing. The Cory suddenly in his mind becomes a wolf spider, “constantly searching for food things to devour it wasn’t a web weaver but a hunter… but the world giving reasons to let the spider out of the glass jar.. Then I lost Jules, and I began to creepy around stretching my legs.” The imagery is so cleaver and really made me wonder, did the hunted become a hunter 🤔
Patiently reading for book 2!

Wow. I shared this with several of my friends. I am new to this website but I really liked this book. The MC’s have flaws but that’s what makes this good to me. I really dislike books where the main characters are perfect. There are some graphic things in this such a rape, murder, sex, and foul language. But it was really good, very gripping. I read it all in one sitting. I liked that it was told in three perspectives as well. There were so many unexpected twists and turns. Seriously read this book.

If you’re looking for a true crime thriller that dives deep into the darkest corners of the human mind, Hunted by Labrie James will absolutely grab hold of you—and not let go. This book is not for the faint of heart, as it tackles heavy themes like mental health struggles, cheating, loss, death, and abuse. But beneath the darkness is also a found family narrative that will keep you hooked, even if your heart’s racing the entire time.

The story centers around Lennox, who’s haunted by witnessing the unspeakable murder of her best friend. She’s not just trying to survive the trauma—there’s also a madman after her, picking off those she cares about one by one. Finn, a detective trying to protect her, and Cory, a longtime friend with a secret of his own, round out the complex trio of characters that navigate a world filled with lies, betrayal, and secrets that change everything.

James weaves in themes of guilt, redemption, and pain in a way that’s raw and hard-hitting, and honestly, my skin is still crawling from the intensity! This book doesn’t pull any punches, and readers need to walk in prepared for the tough topics it explores. There’s no traditional HEA here, but if you’re okay with that, you’ll be riveted by how the plot unfolds. And trust me when I say—there’s an ending you won’t see coming!

Fair warning: if you can make it through the first few chapters, you’ll be okay, but buckle in, because Hunted is a wild, gut-wrenching ride from start to finish.

Hunted by Labrie James is not only available in print and ebook but also on Audible, making it perfect for those of us who love to listen to thrillers on the go! And let me just say, Labrie is one of the sweetest authors you’ll ever meet. She has such a wide range in her writing style—from the dark intensity of Hunted to the rockstar romance of The Inevitability of Us. Whether you’re in the mood for suspense or swoon-worthy romance, Labrie’s stories will pull you right in!

I thought that the plot was interesting and entertaining throughout the entire book. However, the last quarter of it was really my favourite. And the last three chapters! Ooooh boy! It was great stuff. I loved the end of this book, and I am so excited to get into it’s sequel.

James has this way of breathing life into these complex characters that make them feel so authentic. This is the third book of hers that I’ve read, and I just love her characters! From basically the beginning, Cory was my favourite. I really liked his story and how it all panned out.

I thought the thrills in this book were great, I’m not always the biggest fan of organized crime plots, but I thought things were done in a fast-paced way that it all held my attention. The only real issue I had, and this was probably a me problem, was that there was quite a few minor characters and at some parts I got a bit confused on who was who again so I’d have to go back to re-listen to sort things out.

I did listen to this on audiobook, and I thought that the narrator did a good job throughout the book. She emoted emotions well without being over the top or distracting. I think definitely think that the audiobook is worth giving it a listen.

I'll be honest, I'm more of a romance girl and I hesitated picking this up. Man, was I wrong.
Thrillers are something that have become predictable to me over the last few years, so I strayed away, even in the romance genre. So, I was pleasantly surprised by the twist at the end that shocked me. 10/10 LaBrie, didn't see that coming and I gasped aloud.
This book has a little bit of something for everyone: romance that's a little taboo, murder, mayhem, and a twisty ending that leaves you begging for more. More answers, more book, more all of it.
I would HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who loves being taken on a ride.
There are some triggers for assault, so prepare yourself for that, if needed.
I can't wait to see what else this author has coming out!

What a trip! So dark, so very dramatic, and absolute page turner.

Labrie James isn’t afraid to get gruesome with this thriller. Tackling topics of rape, murder and human trafficking this book will keep you up at night, because you can’t help but continue reading.

Definitely check the trigger warnings. Although the main characters are teenagers, for the most part, this is an adult book. One I recommend to fans of the horror/thriller genre.

My one qualm is I would’ve preferred Lennox and her friends to have been sophomores in college rather than seniors in high school. Right now Finn is a bit creepy to me 😅

Who and why is Lennox being targeted? Dark family secrets, suspense, mystery, and grief. This book kept me on my toes trying to guess who, what, and why. The beginning was dark and had me wanting to know more. I could not put this book down. It was supposed to be a buddy read, but I read it with in 24 hrs. I was sucked in and just wanting to know what happens next. This was a really good read!

DO NOT LISTEN TO CERTAIN REVIEWS ON THIS BOOK! One is a lie and I commented on it.

I don't wrote reviews. Ever. I did because I bought the book at a gas station in Montana, emailed her and she asked me to help her out. She seems nice so here I am. I am new to this site and I rated some books for set up purposes but I don't see myself doing this often. But a review. Here it is.

This book is violent, graphic, and sexual. I was not expecting that. Recommending it is hard for me because of how extreme it is. With that said I would re-read it this and tell everyone I know to read if I thought they could handle the content. I don't know why she doesn't have an agent or a publishing deal. She is the next Colleen Hoover. I can't wait to read more from her.

Get past the first three chapters and it calms down a bit. It's told in three perspectives so it really keeps the pace going. The taboo love was a my favorite and I am obsessed with Cory. I want to date him if he was a gay man. I din't think this story would end up were it did. I can't really say what happened because I feel like it ruins the book for the reader. But read it and help her like I am because she deserves it. Best of luck LaBrie James.

This was a great read! Fast paced thriller. This book has 3 POV's Lennox, Officer Finn, and Corey. I am usually not one who enjoys multiple POVs but the author writes with so much detail its impossible to get lost! I have read two of LaBrie James books and the povs are great, really makes the book! Cannot wait to start book 2 in this series!!

From the start I couldn't put this down, I kept wanting to pick it right back up! So many suprising twist and turns at every chapter. The ending was soooo unexpected, I kept trying to guess at things and kept finding myself incorrect, which was great, totally unpredictable.

Steamy crime thriller with dark family secrets, twisted friendships, taboo romance and violence. Perfect spooky season read!

There are some graphic events that could trigger you, please read your trigger warnings before jumping into this!

I followed along with my physical copy while listening to the audio book from audible. The audio was very well done. I did feel like the audio could have been a little more dramatic at times but not everyone likes dramatic! 4 out of 5 stars for the audio version!

I went into this book knowing nothing except that it was a thriller—and wow, the prologue shocked me. The chapters that followed immediately sucked me in.

One thing I’ve learned: Labrie writes some of the best thrillers out there, and she’s never afraid to hit you with the unexpected. As usual, I’m guilty of late-night reading, heart pounding, and barely able to breathe through half the scenes.

I was constantly switching between the audiobook and ebook, which really helped me absorb the story better. And let me just say—I've read some toxic stories in my life, but this one hit a whole new level of toxic.

Thank goodness it was a multi-POV book, because the FMC was such an unreliable narrator. The perspective shifts made all the difference.

Great ending, and I’m so excited to see what happens next! Huge thanks to Labrie for gifting me this listening copy 💜

Twisty Thriller!

Thank you to the author for providing me this audiobook! This was so creepy in a great way! And so many twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. Three stars only comes from the fact that I realized about 9 chapters in that the group of friends were still in HS, not college, and the FMC is still underage when she meets the mid-20s MMC who falls for her. She turns 18 eventually, but I got the ick and couldn’t get past it. If Lennox and her friends were aged like four years, it would have been an easy four stars for me. I was really impressed by the smooth storytelling and very few errors for a self-published book! Well done! Will definitely check out more from this author in the future.

Have you ever picked up a book that you assumed you were going to enjoy only to love it more than you expected! Or thought to yourself, this person was meant to write books? This is how I feel about this book and Labrie! I love a good thriller and this one kept you guessing the entire way!😅 so many twisty turns to keep you on your toes! When you think you know what’s coming next….guess again! This one also comes to you sprinkled with a little romance and some moments that pull on your heart strings whether it be character interaction or trauma from the past. Love multiple POV and the flow of the book. Excited for the next one after the ending!! and future books by her!

This book was a thrill ride from the very beginning, seemed like every turn of the page was a new revelation and something to make you say "what?!" Out loud. I truly enjoyed the writing, the 3 character POV, the slight romance and occasional spice. The story, while incredibly tragic, kept me on the edge of my seat wanting more. Labrie captured my attention and the ending blew me away. I can't wait to dive into captured, next! 🎉

Omg! This book had so many twists and turns. I’m not into thrillers because they barely keep my attention but I LOVED this book. LaBrie is such an amazing author (this is the second book I read of hers) and I’m about to start the third one. This book was able to hold my attention and there was a little bit of romance so I enjoyed it so much. I can’t wait to finish the second book of the series and see what’s next!

Definitely different then the first book I read by the author. But nonetheless amazing!! The story grabbed me from the get go. The multiple points of view were amazing and really drew me into the book. My heart breaks for what was happening to Lennox. Not only Lennox but the whole group. Finn came in and started helping her and helping her the way she needed. Now to get the 2nd book and finish reading this series. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who needs a good book.

Hunted is my 2nd LaBrie James book that I've read and she sure knows how to pull you into the story from the start! I like how she pieced together the events that happened "that night" throughout the book. There were parts that were very hard to read so make sure you check your triggers. Onto book 2!
