Amazon Ads can be complex to navigate, particularly for books. This guide will teach how you to simplify your approach, free up your headspace, and get back to writing.
Great book to do a deep dive into Amazon ads for writers. As a new author I need some guidance and this book delivered. Great insight not only on the mechanics but also on how to monitor and evaluate your campaigns. Loved the part on how to talk to Amazon help, that is probably going to be very useful. In short, very useful and relevant.
This was a helpful AMS ads book as it didn’t get overly complicated and was specific about the things other books gloss over. I like the how-to and when-to steps for ad creation and ad checking and optimization. Handy!
I’ve read a fair number of these books. Along with being invested….as an author looking for insights which are few and far between in this genre.
Margot delivers some decent ‘stick and rudder’ insights sorely missing in other works. Most volumes are to ‘set up’ ads, this title provides some level of diagnostics. A solid glossary.
This work would be a 10 star if Margot invested in dropping in images that clarify her textual description. Her insider insights show through, but she really needs greater use of screenshots for newcomers.
There are typo’s, not the biggest deal, and sloppy editing. Doesn’t impact the overall value of her insights, but does detract from readability, especially for newcomers.
Since most readers are going to be ‘cold start’ self published authors, she doesn’t provide enough ‘guidance’ or what I call ‘stick and rudder’ mentoring. For instance what are recommended click thru rates, and more of the excel tables. Only one in the whole book. There should be 10’s more.
Anyone who's tried to promote a book on Amazon (or anywhere) will tell you that it's a complex and mysterious process that requires skills in writing, design, business, and more. If you read the many books out there and watch the videos and listen to the podcasts and take the courses, your head will spin with all the conflicting bits of advice. Here's the book we've been waiting for. Janet Margot was an insider at Amazon who helped develop the advertising platform. So this book is essential reading for anyone who wants to understand how to promote a book on Amazon.
This book is written in plain language and formatted with short chapters in bite-sized chunks that are easily digestible. I love the way this book succinctly pulls in all pieces of the Amazon ad platform puzzle and builds on each piece, one by one. There are lots of golden nuggets in the last couple of chapters of this book- nuggets that aren’t found anywhere else.
I have taken Janet’s course, but this book added to those lessons and answered some questions that were niggling in the back of my brain. Highly recommended.
This is definitely an insider's guide. Sometimes Margot lands on the side of Amazon (promoting auto ads), and sometimes on the side of the author (the dashboards are confusing). I don't think the book is complete, though. She doesn't cover the topic of ad copy, except to say don't use it.
Some parts are simplified, and some parts are confusing and depend on a lot of acronyms. I think this book is just one part of your education in Amazon ads.
I'm publishing my first book soon, so I'm learning about Amazon advertising. This is the third book I've read on the subject, and the only one that gives a clear step by step procedure. Margot teaches this subject for a major self-publishing school, so I feel comfortable trusting her. Don't just settle for the free books on Amazon book ads on Kindle Unlimited. It's worth paying a few dollars for this authoritative information!
There are many books on book marketing and many courses and books on Amazon ads. This one was thorough, specific and useful. I mean it, every word was useful, and I am no beginner. I believe both would benefit, complete beginners and advanced authors. Thank you!
An expert level deep dive into a very complex matter. Will it help? Too many variables to know for sure, but lots of details. Grab it and dig in, but you may need to read it a few times.
Love this book, couldn't have been written by a better author. Janet Margot obviously knows the intimate details of Amazon Ads and has a passion for supporting independent authors, so glad someone could transform Amazon ads into a tool for the average person.
The book goes into great detail about the nuts and bolts of Amazon ads. As a new author contemplating one book, I found it overwhelming. But if you are an author with multiple books and ad campaigns, I think you would find this very useful.
