Just when Lily’s settling into life in Westerham and making new friends, the Paranormal Investigation Bureau needs her help again. A witch has been misappropriating millions from unsuspecting retirees, but she’s destroyed all the evidence. Lily’s unique witchy skills are the only thing that can uncover the past and get the PIB the evidence it needs.
Lily has her own plans, but nothing seems to go right. Her fun day in London turns into a devastating collision with her past, and super-hot Agent Crankypants is annoying as hell. He knows all her buttons to press, and she’s not sure if she wants to kiss him or strangle him, or maybe both. Then tracking down the PIB’s suspect puts Lily’s new friendship at risk, and, if that’s not enough, it finally brings Lily face-to-face with death.
Can Lily solve the crime before someone dies? And will the universe give her a break before she loses what’s left of her sanity? Unfortunately, coffee alone can’t fix things this time.
I love reading and writing. I'm a mother to two teens and two Siamese cats. I've got an associate degree of creative writing and am a full-time author. I write paranormal cosy mysteries with heroines who are quirky, kind, and love to right wrongs and get justice. I also love to make people laugh and give them an awesome escape, which is why I tell stories.
An enjoyable , cosy paranormal mystery. This is a fun, light read with interesting characters and plot. Lily, a witch in training, snorts when she laughs and finds it hard to keep her thoughts from the hot guys around her, but has a unique special witch power which comes in handy when working for the Paranormal investigation bureau. This is the second book in the series and there’s an overarching mystery concerning her missing parents.
I love this series! I finished the first book a few days ago and already missed the characters especially Lily! I finished this one in one sitting! Like the first, I was on the edge of my seat the entire time and couldn’t stop reading. I love the characters even more now! I just preordered the next book and can’t wait to read it too! I love the writing style and the funny, witty, sassy character Lily! Looking forward to more!
I have trouble seeing this as a cozy mystery because it deviates from "The formula" with such rich characters and edge-of-the-seat action that THE PIB series should have a category of its own! Perhaps it does, even with the supernatural aspects. The plots are beyond the usual whodunit of cozy mystery norms, the characters richer and more real. The settings beguiling and yet very real. This is a page-turner, wish I didn't have to put it down from beginning to end.
Witch Swindled had me on the edge of my chair for the whole book. I loved Lily and that she is taking her talent seriously! Plus she has a new best friend in Olivia. I could tell the author put her best work in this book. Looking forward to the next book!
I absolutely love her books, I've read 2 on the series now and need the rest 😂
They might not be everyone's cup ot tea but I love them.
So the story follows lily, a photographer who lives in Australia, her brother James went missing in the first book and this posh, straight laced English woman turns up and tells lily she's a witch and has to move to the UK... Read book 1
So in this book Lily had gotten used to her magic a little more, Beren and William are the 2 guys who follow her to make sure she is safe at all times.. (Ref book 1).
So Lily makes friends with Olivia, she works in Costa and serves Lil her coffee everyday and helps her with a pretensious, uptight, thinks the world should bow to her.. Kind of woman.. (a Karen) lol
Their friendship starts to grow and Olivia asks her to take photos of her engagement party 🎉
But all is not what it seems! Does Olivia know? Is her fiance actually a good man? Who is this "Karen"?
You will follow Lilly as she gets more involved with the PIB... (paranormal investigation bureau)
Do give her books a read, go follow her on social media..❤️
After reading the first book, I had to immediately jump into this as soon as I got it on my Kindle app. I think I'm falling... for a series.
Lily is an absolute gem of a character; I love her personality, how she values herself and her work, how she knows where to draw the line. Her inward struggles with balancing a secret career and a new friendship highlights a lot about her character.
Having now settled into a new home, job and continent, Lily has just gotten her first new client and is quickly forming a bond of friendship. Until Lily's witchy investigations hit a snag - her client's fiancé; now Lily has to find a way forward that won't bring everything crumbling down around her.
Absolutely loved this and definitely getting the next one as soon as I can!
This is the second book in the series where Lily is discovering her powers as a witch and gets pulled into an investigation where she would really rather not be involved.
Lily is learning to use her powers more and because she has that ability that is so rare to be able to see the past, she finds that she is being called on to use them for the PIB. After her first experiences with the PIB by being put in jail and almost killed by one of their employees, she really doesn’t want anything to do with them or ever go to their headquarters.
But they need Lily to help with investigating a witch who is stealing from old people and with the help of one of her employees. Unfortunately, that employee turns out to be the fiancée of someone she just became friends with.
The story is fast paced and full of action. There is something going on between her and William, a PIB agent, but it is very subtle and you get little tidbits of it from time to time. It is fun to watch them interact. This is the second book of the series and there is a lot more that will happen I am sure.
Great fun to read. Lily has moved permanently to Westerham to be close to her brother and new friends. And of course to learn from Angelica. In this installment she’s brought in as a consultant which turns out to overlap with her non witchy friend Olivia. Lily and the gang are on the case to uncover the evidence and stop the swindling witch.
I really like this series. Once again the characters sprang to life on the pages in a fun an entertaining story that I couldn't put down. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.
I'm loving the story and character development of this series and I've just bought the next book. Thank you for writing these wonderful and exciting books, Dionne.
I read these books and they just were sp refreshing. I laughed till I cried on some parts. It's always so good to enjoy s little laughter when you're raading. I would recommend them to anyone.
Second in series, but could be read out of order, a few things might not make total sense. Very British or Australian slang, so I had to look up a few words. Fun, light read.
Love the interplay between Lily and Olivia. This is an exciting development of Lily's powers and the growing friendship between the human Olivia and the witch Lily. There is a side story that appears to be bringing William, the best friend of Lily's brother James, as a possible love match for Lily.
Lily's new friend, Olivia, is getting married! Finally, as a wedding photographer, Lily has a chance to earn her way that doesn't involve the PIB (Paranormal Investigation Bureau). But when her brother's case goes sideways, Lily is pulled into another investigation.
I've been charmed by this series. Lily is a fun character who's slowly developing her witchy powers. These books are the modern form of cosy with a lot of introspection and a touch of angst. Normally I'm not too crazy about paranormal series, but the woo-woo aspect of the books is believably integrated without being too "in your face".
Loved the second installment in this series! Lily’s awkwardness and antics had me laughing and the story kept moving to where I couldn’t put it down. I’m ready for the next book to see what happens next with Lily and her friends!
Very entertaining. Characters were fun. Storyline was good and I managed to read in one sitting. Will definitely buy next book and sure to enjoy it as well.
After reading the first book in the series, I just to see what happens to Lily lol. In a way she reminds of a kid who is adulting, but underneath she is dealing with learning and understanding her powers, facing her fears and learning to trust. All in all, it was a pleasant book to read, there is humour and of course adventure, with a plot that is well developed and you get a better understanding of the various characters. Of course, I have just started to read the third book... :-)
So glad my daughter recommend this author. Story is great and characters are fun and interesting. Highly recommend. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
This was a completely new kind of mystery, quirky and really enjoyable. Lily is a delightful character, I came to like her immensely, she is such a happy uncomplicated character.
This second novel in the series is just as good as the first book. A most enjoyable read. I'm looking forward to the next one to see how Lily develops, what more she learns and what adventures she has.
