Moonstone Bay is a paranormal island with an attitude, and Hadley Hunter is a heroine with a heart only equal to her mouth.
Hadley never knew she was a witch but she’s more than happy to learn on the job. Her boyfriend Galen Blackwood, the local sheriff, has her back at every turn. That’s on top of her half-demon best friend, a prickly cupid with a romance problem, and the local siren who wants to fight rather than make friends.
Hadley might be a novice but she’s powerful, and her friends are going to need her on an island like Moonstone Bay. She’s more than happy to serve, and together they are strong.
Note: This three-book omnibus includes Long, Hot Witchy Summer, Great Hexpectations, and The Joy of Hex.
When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail. Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.
I enjoyed all three books and would have given it a five but once again the author seems to have forgotten what she wrote. In book eight the mage's (zoe)'s daughter heals Lilac. She can now turn the magic on and off without a problem. In book 9, once again Lilac needs the Cupid to help her? What happened to her being healed? In the book with the incubus, Hadley is pushed up the cemetery wall and dropped into the cemetery. Lilac goes in because the zombies ignore her because she is a demon. They get out when Hadley manages to repeat an earlier spell? Where she made a protective bubble. In book 9 Hadley again is in the cemetery with Lilac this time Tilly is with them. Lilac fights the zombie s, Tilly freezes them and Hadley freaked because her mother got close to her? I know that the author writes a lot of books but I was so happy for Lilac in book eight and confused and disappointed in book 9. I do like the series with Bay, Landon and Aunt Tilly too. If HADLEY becomes Harley again it's auto correct being a pain.
Book Seven is an entertaining read and worthy of five stars; the characters are engaging, the mystery is well-developed, and the humor is a delightful. Book Eight is a four-star romp with a mystery that includes a couple of twists and strong female characters; it's a pity that Hadley isn't one of them. Book Nine has a fine mystery, but Hadley is less than impressive in this four-star tale.
This series is so much fun. I fly through the books and can't wait to find time to read them. The characters are wacky and I like how she brings in other characters from her other book series to visit the island. These didn't showcase the main character's powers so that was a little disappointing. The endings not as dramatic. .
Landon and Bay are heading for Moonstone Bay for their honeymoon. Two whole weeks alone with sun, sand, and pretty drinks with little umbrellas . What could possibly go wrong? There is a writers conference going on, plane doors opening up willy nilly, strange creatures coming through them, and... Aunt Tillie. It's going to be a memorable honeymoon; one for the books! New friends and new adventures draw our Moonstone Bay gang even closer, as they fight to protect each other and their Island home. If you haven't been reading this series, you are missing out! Grab the first book and dig in. Be sure to read them in order!
