Each year, precisely two naturally red-haired women disappear in Vancouver.
Greta Morel was the first victim ten years ago, followed by another nineteen women until today. The mysterious people responsible for their disappearance left no trace while staging every abduction to look like each woman willingly left everything behind.
The lack of evidence of the potential crime had the Vancouver Police prioritizing the other cases.
However, when a piece of information regarding all the missing women gets passed on to Cliff Mason, an old-fashioned Chief of Police is forced to work on it with Buster McRoy, a devious Miami Detective whose celebrity career is built on lies.
But all hope shatters like a glass vase as yet another redhead gets abducted in front of their noses.
Wow, that was a great read. I love the uniqueness of the story and the writing style. It’s a fast-paced thriller with many unexpected twists. The unpredictability of what will come next made me read this book in a day.
Improbable plot. The lack of contractions in dialogue was extremely irritating. It was like listening to someone for whom English is a second language.
This story seems plausible with the recent United Kingdom and USA news coming to light - wealthy men taking advantage of young women. Present-day, a prince, pays twelve million dollars to a woman for his indecent acts while on a junket to a wealthy Hollywood producer's compound.
In this story, Buster, a Miami detective, is asked to help solve a crime in Canada with no details about the crime.
It is a secret that his new Canadian partner Cliff advises him of the sex trafficking of redhead women by wealthy connected men. And, Billy is doing what Billy does well in another part of town - interesting and strange happenstances with his new friend Albert.
The four men evolve in thrilling events that keep the reader waiting for this page-turner to end. When it comes, THE REDHEADS will be grateful, and the reader will be glad they read this well-written novel.
The plot was good and the characters were well developed, if a little quirky. I kept reading because I wanted to know what was going to happen next. A few twists and turns (some of which were ruined in reading the author's biography). However, it was very obvious that, for the person writing this, English was a second language. The text was clunky and did not flow normally, and the phraseology in the dialogue was unnatural. I found myself skimming because the words were distracting. This could have been a really good book (rating 4) if an editor had reviewed and made the language more realistic. People just don't talk like that. It was stiff and forced. The whole book (not just the dialogue) needed tweaking by an editor. What a shame. Example: "It does not sound like a bad idea." Cliff responded. "Then why are you not excited?" Buster frowned. Who talks like that? Also, there are a few places where people use information they could not possibly know. GET AN EDITOR, QUICK! Fix it and you will have a MUCH better book!
Being a natural redhead, I was immediately interested in this book. I love mystery and I love being in the perspective of the police and the perspective of the victim and the perspective of an outsider.
I loved Billy before I knew who Billy was to the case. I loved Mona before I knew why she was the way she was.
They dynamics between the girls is very interesting. They help each other. They grieve together. They love together. They understand each other.
The story follows Billy who finds his way helping to solve a crime. The story also follows a detective who is trying to make his name known in the cop community as a case he has actually solved. The story follows the redheads that are the reason there is a case.
I cried. I laughed. I hurt. I loved.
This book was many things for me.
Then that ending.. Man, I didn't see that coming!
Note: This book does read like it belongs on Dreame or Readdict but the storyline is very good.

As a natural redhead, how could I resist a book by this title? The premise: a human trafficking ring has been kidnapping natural redheaded women in Vancouver, Canada, for a decade, exactly 2 per year (an explanation is provided for why only 2/year), and selling them for millions of dollars to rich men from around the world. Somehow, a detective from Miami is brought into the case, which is top secret because the Canadian officer working it believes powerful people in government and the police force are working with the traffickers. Meanwhile, Billy is a loner living in Whistler, B.C. who finds a stray dog that he realizes seems to have a "sixth sense" that enables it to identify killers. Through the dog, Billy gets involved in the investigation to find the redheads. It was fairly obvious that this book is self published: it could use editing for language (the writing is a bit stilted, although I got used to it) and content as there were quite a few inconsistencies and inaccuracies. It was an "ok" quick read.

Detective Cliff Mason in Vancouver Canada suspects 2 redheads are kidnapped each year, but made to look as if they left voluntarily and just disappeared. Recruits Detective Buster McRoy from Miami FL because he doesn't trust any Vancouver cops. Billy, a loner, saves a blind man Albert from being killed, and adopts a dog Mona. Together they solve the case. Very good mystery. Each chapter has a cliffhanger, and story alternates between 2 different viewpoints, so it's 2 chapters before that cliffhanger is resolved.
I enjoyed the story, but found some things implausible. I was very suspicious of Arthur when he suggested getting rid of a body. Arthur would have been a victim! Why not call the authorities? And, he knows exactly where to dump the body! How could he possibly know the van logo? It was prepared the day before the abduction. The editing is poorly done. The ending is far fetched. The storyline flowed well. Does bring awareness to sex trafficking.
An intense and multi-layered story of multiple kidnappings and s*x trafficking. Treachery and deceit on many levels kept this case open for ten years. The ending was satisfying. This reader initially thought this story had very poor editing. This reader realized this story was not written in English and was likely translated electronically, and poorly. The story may be better in it’s original language.
The mystery is done well, but the writing would embarrass my elementary school students. There are two many simple sentences. Compound and complex sentences would add to the variety as well as the readability. I received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher and voluntarily provided an honest review.
This is a great crime mystery with sex traffickers, a stolen dog, awkward people and a couple of great detectives! So many twists and turns with a big surprise ending. I highly recommend it if you like murder mysteries! It was especially frightening to me because I am natural redhead. Boy oh boy! 😧
Awesome book. Would have been better if there hadn't been so much cussing. I honestly think people take it to far now a days. But I also acknowledge that that is how the world talks most of the time.
Well written story about the kidnapping of 2 redheads every year for the past 10 years and the detective who puts together a small team to find and rescue the women and capture the kidnappers. Great read
Can't say what this story was lacking in. It just seemed soulless. There didn't seem to be that "edge of your seat" vibe to it. Decent story just lacked that certain feeling.
Wow! Thought I had the plot figured out, like the current television shows, but was I wrong!! A couple of twists at the very end made this a very nice read. The literary editing could have used a little more finesse, but the story itself stands tall & proud!
An excellent. Didn’t see that ending coming. Having been to Vancouver it’s lovely to be able to visualise some of the locations in the story. I can definitely recommend this book.
This book was terrific!!! It was a book I didn't want to stop reading & yet did not want to get to the end. The characters were very unique. They all fit into this story very well. Plot kept me guessing at the way! Glad I did not pass this one by!
This is the second of Aleksandar's books that I've read and I'll be watching out for the next! The book was full of suspense with a big surprise at the end so if you like your thrillers with a twist in the tale this is the book for you.
As a natural redhead I was intrigued when I read the promo for this book. I'm glad I read it. Scary in a criminal way, great characters (including my redheaded sisters) and great detective work. Also, a great dog!
Quite enjoyed this easy to read novel even though the story was full of implausible events. Wasn't at all graphic which considering the horror of the subject matter was a pleasant surprise.
