In the nation’s Capital, someone is re-enacting the murders from a series of grisly horror books, and all the evidence points towards the author as the perpetrator.

The big problem with that? He died a year ago.

In suspicious circumstances.

There were rumours of murder, but no arrests followed the original investigation. Now the victims are those who were closest to him, and it looks like the author has come back from the dead to exact his revenge.

Hired by the author’s wife, who fears she may be next, Amanda and Tempest head to London for a case that will challenge the premise on which their business is built: that the supernatural does not exist.

You’re going to want to sleep with the light on.

The paranormal? It’s all nonsense, but proving it might get them killed.

Let's start this off with an invitation to get some FREE books. No, you didn't read that wrong, we are talking about multiple free books. I love giving away free books because once people delve into the fast-paced mystery thrills I write, they go on to buy lots more.

All I need from you is an email address to send them to. Here's the link you need - https://mailchi.mp/fd47a6eb4ae5/patri...

When I wrote my first novel, Paranormal Nonsense, I was a Captain in the British Army. I would love to pretend that I had one of those careers that has to be redacted and in general denied by the government and that I have had to change my name and continually move about because I am still on the watch list in several countries. In truth though, I started out as a mechanic. Not like Jason Statham, sneaking about as a contract killer, more like one of those greasy gits that charge you a fortune and keep your car for a week when all you went in for was a squeaky door hinge.

At school, I was mostly disinterested in every subject except creative writing, for which, at age ten, I won my first award. However, calling it my first award suggests that there have been more, which there have not. Accolades may come but, in the meantime, I am having a ball writing mystery stories and crime thrillers and will claim to have more than a hundred books forming an unruly queue in my head as they clamor to get out.

Now retired from the military, I live in the south-east corner of England with a pair of lazy sausage dogs. Surrounded by rolling hills, brooding castles, and vineyards, I doubt I will ever leave, the beer is just too good.

I Ain't Afraid of No Ghost Writer

Has Simon Slater come back to life to take vengeance on those who wronged him?

Amanda Harper does not think so. That's part of the deal of why she works where she does, Blue Moon Investigations. There is no paranormal, just a person in a suit. Or something like that. Many of their cases are slightly more than a guy in a suit, but there has always been a rational explanation.

Things are not looking up to continue this streak.

Another stellar outing for our intrepid investigators. Twists, turns, and temperamental characters take readers on a tantalizing trip.

the best series I’ve read in a long time

Thank you Steve Higgs! I absolutely love your writing and this entertaining series. This book was full of twists & turns. I’ve never read so fast, I wanted to get to the next page to find out what happens. The Only very sad part is finishing each of these books. Absolutely takes your mind off all else & you dive into wondering, thrilling entertainment. Please keep these fantastic characters going. I loved read this book & all the previous ones.

Best Blue Moon

One of the most action packed of all the Blue Moon novels w twist after twist of plot. Most all the Blue Moon characters play prominent roles except Jane. I love the Jane books. And thankfully one quarter of the book (or more) is not taken up w Tempest's diary of his eating and exercise habits and choices. The first 10 books or more are easily put down. Ive read all 21 and going on to 22. All the other Higgs series (Patricia, Rex, Felicity) are exciting, attention grabbing treats like this one.

Ghosts, Werewolves, and Vampires.....Yikes!

If you have never read a Blue Moon Investigations story, I'm SO sorry! A wonderfully likable cast of characters. I started with book 1 and many books later have finished book 21. Each story is a carefully plotted puzzle of whom is portraying the monsters and why. The dialog is often funny, but the problems are serious and the investigators are diligent. If these books were turned into movies, they would be blockbusters. I'm not giving away any of the plots, because I don't want to spoil any of the fun for you. ENJOY!!!

This is a wonderful addition to this thrilling series!
Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable.
Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story.
Such a thrilling read that I couldn't put it down.
Can't wait to read more of these.
Recommend reading.

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

A Blue Moon story filled with tricks, twists, and turns, that will not be easy to figure out because Mr Higgs has used his magic once again to create a whopper of a story. The addition of Hilary and Basic had me wanting more as I laughed out loud and thought "what a great spin-off these two would make." I just adore them and their antics. Remarkable characters, dangerous situations, and well-written scenes with an ending you won't see coming. Very Highly Recommended.

Just when I think I can't be surprised by Mr. Higgs, he drops something new on me. This one isn't as funny as the first few Blue Moon books, though it does have its moments. The action is hectic and the situations follow. His dialogue is good; but, lately I've been thinking that his characters need something more. The plot was well done; I never suspected the second murderer, or should I say I discounted them as being too obvious. All in all, a good read. Recommended.

Ghost Writer

Amanda is hired by the wife of a horror fiction writer named Simon Slatter who was murdered but she thinks he has come back from the dead and is killing his enemies and posing them like the murders in his books 📚. Patience invites herself to London with Amanda for a girls weekend even though Amanda is working a case. They get into trouble with some twenty something guys who don't like to be rejected.

I enjoy this series and the characters but this particular book was a little slow to take off with many plot threads and much weirdness all wrapped up in the blink of an eye at the end. I suspect some of the sluggishness at the beginning was due to the length of time it took to write. When Steve Higgs can just power through writing a book uninterrupted, it flows better. Still enjoyable.

I received an arc copy of the book.

Wow, this book had me on the edge of my seat! I read it in one day...just couldn't put it down.
It was almost scary; I don't really like occult books and freak out at the idea of devil worshipers. And two of my favorite characters almost got killed. But all is well that ends well, Tempest and Amanda solved the mystery with help from their friends. I would rate this in the top 3 in the series...a must read.

Most characters are rather two dimensional but an interesting read

I don't like Ben being all about sex with nothing else...ok his parents are dead but grandparents or cousins? None?

Constantly taking cases they don't get paid for is silly. So is driving a lambourgini Porsche or MG for a stake out. Surely they'd have a standard car like a volvo Toyota or Vauxhall to be less visible?

It's wonderful to have a new Blue Moon book and this one is the best! All our favorite characters show up, as well as a couple of crossover characters,  and that's one of my favorite things. It makes the book more fun, seeing another aspect of a character from a different series.
There were some outright hilarious moments and a few that had my heart racing. An excellent book!!

What a doozy!!!
All I can say, without giving anything away, is that this story had a bit of humour, but mostly it was an edge of your seat story that had me holding my breath right to the end! I lost loads of sleep over the 2 days I read it because I just couldn't stop reading it! Another hit right out of the park for this author!

Great Adventure

Amana has a case to solve, but it certainly isn't going to be easy. Lots of twists and turns. Fun times with Patience. A stalker who looks like it has a goat's head and hooves. Satanic cult? The whole gang eventually comes together with Big Ben, Tempest, Basic, Hilary & Jane. Lots of crossovers to look for. Must read!!

Another good story in this series. The paranormal detectives bunch up to find out what's happening. Even if you're not a great fan of the genre you'll enjoy reading Ghost Writer! There's a good plot, mystery, and fun!
I received a free copy of this book from the author and this is my honest opinion.

Stop with the Americanisms!

I genuinely try to like the series, but ever since I first started noticing an increased creep of Americanisms (around book 3) a lot of the enjoyment has gone. These are British characters, set in a real world Britiah context, by a British author. Stop it!

While Tempest is finishing up a call for help from Patricia Fisher on her cruise ship, Amanda takes on a new job in London, where people are murdered in re-enacted scenes from a horror series of books whose author himself was murdered a year ago. Patricia has a few days off her police job so announces that she will join Amanda for some nightlife in the big city.

Holy catballs Batman!!!

I found me a new (for me) author!!! You really need to start the series with book 1 to get some of the references they say. I'm gobbling these up as fast as I can and thoroughly enjoying every case!!! Join me in making Mr. Steve Higgs a household name on any continent!!!

21 books and each one a total winner!

Omg, I started with the Patricia series and then Blue Moon. This is really an amazing storyline with exceptional storytelling and characters that evolve into the most spectacular magical group of interesting, intelligent, innovative, crazy and lovable beings ever!

Ghost Writer

I very much enjoy this series! This story involves a writer of horror fiction, his wife, his publisher, a Satanic cult, plus appearances by most of the secondary characters we have come to know. It was a bit fraught at the end, and I did not figure out the solution, but then I like to be surprised!

Good series

Fun series about investigating supposedly paranormal crimes. The characters are well developed, fun and often quirky. The plot and subplots move quickly, with twists that keep you glued to the book. I can't wait for their next case.

Has Simon Slater really came back from the dead to seek revenge on people using plots from his books?? Amanda investigates this case and it leads her down some very strange paths. From weird co workers of the deceased Simon to devil worshipping. Another brilliant story by Steve Higgs.

I loved this story which had Amanda taking the reins. She and Patience did an excellent job. With Higgs’ customary twisty plots and excellent humor, this book hit all the notes. I was pleased to read this book and definitely recommend it. I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion.
