Well that didn’t last long. 😆
After that second story just NO. Ugh, that was awful…
Oh, boy, where do I start? Let’s start with the very first story, which I liked, and that is Project:Seize by Angela R. Watts. This was really good without too much descriptions of blood/gore/zombie-body-horror (is that a thing?), a compelling and thoughtful plot with characters that were struggling but choosing to fight on for a better tomorrow despite the world having fallen to pieces. A solid, good story I would give four stars by itself.
Unfortunately it’s NOT by itself.
So, so far so good, I start the next story, Undying Love by Ben Black, and right away the descriptions of blood/gore/zombie-body-horror (yeah, let’s just call it that, lol) skyrocketed to TOOOOO much TMI for no good reason. So I IMMEDIATELY started skimming and I’m so glad I did because to cut a long story short it ends with this woman killing the man who helped her by beating his head with a crowbar and then stabbing said crowbar into his skull. In detail. (at least from what I skimmed)
Oh, MY GOSH. Just…I see and hear about enough horrible things people do to each other on a daily basis, I don’t need this to be reinforced in my fiction.
If you can’t already guess I bailed right away feeling totally sick and still am as I type this out. I want stories of people who overcome and fight the odds, not fall into evil traps of the worst humanity has to offer. Also it had four F-bombs in it and one use of Jesus’ name in vain. I’m sorry, NO, if you allow that in your anthology I’m sorry I just can’t, nope, goodbye.
This has been rage deleted from my Kindle and aside from the first story I DO NOT recommend.

Drugs/Alcohol: mentions of experimentations on humans; a guy smokes
Other: zombies and zombie-body-horror (not to very detailed); dead bodies (not to very detailed)

Great anthology!
This is a greatly entertaining collection of short stories about one of my favorite subjects: zombies! The variety of zombie types and their situations are deeply satisfying to those who have a hunger for such ;-) I highly recommend it!

I read this book for the first story, and the first story was the only one I really enjoyed. Some of the others were entertaining, but none of them stuck with me. This was an overall fun read. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it, but it kept me engaged.

This was very mixed. there were two stories, popping the cork, and gifts from the sea that were easy five stars. most of the others were pretty average, with a couple coming in at one or two stars. overall, I’m glad I read this.
