GALAXY RUN:
Extremely well written sci-fi adventure tale with a villain of horror. It was easy to become immersed in the story. The protagonist, Gunn, and his partner, Salvo, are well developed and Gunn in particular has many levels. I would have liked a more definitive ending.
FRIENDLY FIRE:
Another great space adventure as Gunn, Salvo, and friends careen from one disaster to another. An indestructible mod is chasing them, the villain, Grey, is causing horrifying havoc, and Gunn is running out of good ideas. Exciting story with tight plotting and wonderful characters.
Warning: cliffhanger.
CALYPSO END (Book 3)
This is an action packed story with battles to the death and surprise after surprise around every corner. Gunn, Salvo, and Regency try to stay alive while continuing their desperate search for a way to contain and defeat Grey. This book is exciting, sad, emotional, and brutal with a truly evil, horrifying villain and likable protagonists.
BYGONE STAR
Another action packed installment in the Gunn and Salvo fight against the monster, Grey. It’s exciting, well written, and has wonderful characters, but I miss the humor of the first book. I’m ready for this story to wrap up now and move on to a fresh, new Gunn and Salvo adventure!

Audiobook: I really enjoyed this box set which included the first four books of the series. Each story flowed right into the next one, and I was very glad that I was listening to the box set as each book ended on a cliffhanger. I admired the worldbuilding as there were many intricate details which worked together to create a universe in space. I liked the characters as they were fun and complex. I am looking forward to the next books in the series. I was entertained by Paul Heitsch's narration as he provided different voices for each of the characters, and his performance enhanced my enjoyment of the story. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.

In all the years flying around the world I have never once read a book on the plane. That was until I picked up this page turner and fell into the world of adventure, action and amazing characters. Imagine skipping all the Hollywood movies and reading a four book collection from start to finish.
The writing was excellent, the characters well designed and very believable. Their interactions with each other and how they evolve over time drew me in. The story was good too and had me guessing until the end. I'm looking forward to reading the rest.

When I read a book the worst for me is having to pause my reading and going back to try to remember what this or that character's role is in this book, then going forward to where I was to continue reading only to find myself in the same situation further along in my reading and having to repeat the move again.
This is a recurrence that I found reading the first half of this series. 3 Stars.
However, imagination and creativity such as this could appeal to another crop of readers, but not this reader.

Great series, love the characters
This is a really great series and I love the characters. Watching the story unfold as they work through the challenges was very entertaining. Lots of action, adventure, chaos and more in these books. It will definitely be interesting how the story continues to expand as the series goes forward. I really enjoyed this series and recommend it.

Awesome story
Loved the storyline and all the great characters...the main characters are very complicated and work together to stop an unstoppable enemy by using surprising methods!!!

Mech evolves.
Killer mechanism gets sorted out. Girl points it at Grey. A villain. Gen Black plots a greater evil. Much going on.

Great Characters
The key thing I enjoyed about this set was the variety of main characters.. Loved their interactions and differing personalities.

False advertising
I thought this was the complete series but it is only half at most. I won’t be buying any more of his books.

Loved this scifi collection. Wherever there’s Gunn and Salvo, action is sure to follow. Ready for the next collection.

Another series from a prolific series author, this sees a pair of bounty hunters suddenly thrust out of their comfort zones (and any semblance of normal life) into the path of a murderous force sweeping through the darkness of space. James has crafted interesting characters and lets them grow a little amidst all the action. The plot twists and turns, staying fresh even as the mayhem accelerates and the page count soars.
Good entertainment, easy to stick with even if it was a little short of compelling, but let down a bit by cliched language. Closer to 3.5 or 3.75 stars, if we could do fractions. One of my personal pain points, which is on show here, is overusing the word "smirk" -- it shows up here 25 times in 846 pages. Our heros are people who probably do smirk a lot, but there are other words for most of the things "smirk" is used for here.
Reading the next three depends on how pricey the individual books are.
