A playboy in his own right, with the weight of the world on his shoulders. A past that affects every moment of his present. Having a controlling father use the family business as a bargaining tool, can Josh keep his life in check to save the future he rightly desires and deserves?
Lux...
A small-town girl, drowning in the big city lights of London. After her friends convince her to have a celebratory night on the town can she keep the past that haunts her away from the man who has every chance of stealing her heart?
Can Lux and Josh Trust in each other to save themselves from the forces hell-bent on breaking them?
When Josh and Lux first meet, they are on the same page about how they want their relationship (or hopeful lack thereof) to happen. But it doesn’t exactly work out that way.
Their relationship is spicy and fun, has a good amount of drama to it, and was a good read. I couldn’t put it down, so much so that I didn't get much sleep that night because I had to see how it ended! The end of this was so crazy, and not in a bad way.
Make sure you have a good chunk of time carved out to read this because you will not want to put this down either!
This was a great debut novel for Carly Woakes. The storyline was great and I enjoyed her writing style! I look forward to reading more from her in the future!
My favorite character was Amie. Mostly because we have the same name - different spelling, but that doesn’t matter.
Carly's debut book was unlike any other book I’ve read. The characters were written in away that kept me interested. It’s not easy to write a story that is so different from others out there, but this one is. There is instant attraction, family drama, workplace conflict, two people with different backgrounds, and a lot of twist and turns. For a debut book, I felt the author did a great job and can’t wait to watch her grow as she gains more experience and finds her voice. I look forward to reading her next book.
When we first meet Josh he comes across as your typical rich kid playboy. For the most part it’s a facade it’s built up to protect himself from getting hurt. His mother died under suspicious circumstances when he was little and his father wasn’t the most nurturing. Josh only has himself and a couple of friends he trusts. And then he meets Lux. She was supposed to be a one night stand but there’s something about her that keeps drawing him back in.
Lux grew up in what can only be described as a complicated home. Her father is controlling and her mother takes “yes, dear” a little too seriously. Even with that toxic example, Lux believes in love. What she doesn’t believe in is a guy like Josh actually being interested in her.
I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. It isn’t a typical romance. Both mains are damaged in similar yet different ways and the mystery surrounding Josh’s mother’s death could have easily pushed this book in the thriller direction if the author had chosen to focus on it more. All in all, I like the book and will definitely be reading the next installment of the series.
Well what a great opportunity I was given to not only be the first ever to read this amazing book but to also Alpha read Trusting in you by Carly at Love, Lust and Bloody Good Books.I can tell you, she has written you guys a really fantastic read. I really enjoyed this book of hers and she has also written another book Always and Forever that talks about characters within this book but also picks up on the characters in this storey I have also had the pleasure of reading this book.
Lux is a young 21 girl eager to pursue her career and make a better life for herself so she moves to London away from her over baring parents and closer to her sister Liv. Josh is young playboy with a turbulent life with his father. His father is a cruel and manipulative man and Josh has seen through him and is ready to take him down for his wrong doings.
Lux and Josh cross paths in a chance encounter and Josh‘s playboy ways soon disappear when he falls inlove with Lux.
Fantastic read and great character progression within the storey. We also have some amazing lines and steam.
This is my first Carly Woakes book and I was asked to give it a read without really knowing much about it. But I like to give new to me authors a try when asked and I was really glad I did. This was an emotional story that had me asking so many questions trying to find out what lay behind the character's actions. There was plenty of drama and suspense to add to the mix. All in all, it was a book I was able to get absorbed with and enjoy the highs and the lows.
The chemistry between Josh and Lux was hot, even though I felt at times I wanted to knock their heads together so they would just get out of their own way it was easy to understand the reluctance they both had to share their secrets.
Great story, look forward to book 2.

Josh might be rich, have any girl he wants for a night, and about to inherit his father's company but life is never as clear cut as all that. Dear old dad isn't really what he seems. He's planning to sink the ship and all on it as he hands it over to Josh. Josh has no idea why his father hates him so much and really he doesn't care, but he does care about the company and the people who work for it. So with the help of some friends, he plans to do everything he can to take his father down before his plan goes ahead.
Lux is trying to find her footing in London. She's never been happier than now being away from her family and the small town that suffocated her. She has her older sister Livvy and friends, Amie and Amanda. The only problem is if she doesn't get the job she's interviewing for on Monday she may have to go back home and she would rather live anywhere but there.
The girls drag Lux out for the night so she can let loose for a change and despite her reluctance she does join them. When she bumps into the very sexy Josh at the bar she's never been so drawn to a guy before. It seems he can make her feel things she hasn't felt in a very long time.
Josh doesn't know what it is about this woman but he wants her more than he has ever wanted anything. It might only be one night but he'll have Lux because he can't walk away. The two share an amazing night and while Josh usually has them gone before the sun comes up he doesn't really want to let Lux go. He broke all his rules with her and he'll do it again when he gives her his number and takes her home.
Lux doesn't expect anything more from Josh despite him saying he wants to see her again, she knows a playboy when she meets one plus she has bigger things to worry about. Lux is not so sure of the man interviewing her but she wants to job and when he offers it to her she's happy but just hopes she won't have to deal with him much.
Josh is summoned to his father's office to deal with the new hire when he walks in and finds Lux he's happy and terrified at the same time. If his father knew Lux and him had any connection he would use it against him for sure. Lux is surprised to see Josh in front of her and plays along with the 'just meet' routine, it's clear something is going on between father and son.
Lux intends to keep their relationship purely business but Josh can't let Lux go. It's the first time he has wanted more and he won't let that feeling pass him by. Having Lux in his life could put her in danger though and he has to be smart about what is going on with the business. Lux and Josh can't deny the chemistry too long and end up giving in to the desire. Lux knows he's keeping things from her but she has her secrets too.
When Josh's dad escalates it scares him and Lux causing her to run. When she returns she plans to make things right but only makes them worse. After her over-controlling parents step in while Josh is unaware Lux could be in danger of losing everything she's ever wanted.
Josh somehow has to save Lux, finish off his father and survive it all at the same time.
Trusting In You is a steamy read by @cwoakeswrites coming at you on 12/31.
Lux is a seemingly straight-laced gal who is trying to make her way in London. Her friends convince her to let loose and take her to a club to get crunk. And get crunk she does. She meets Josh, who pepper sprays her with cheesy pick up lines and her good girl persona as well as her panties immediately dissolve. Josh’s mom died when he was a kid and his dad sucks ass, which means in book fantasy world that he is a fuckboy with commitment issues. Josh and Lux leave the club and have dirty hot sex and then proceed to have chapters of sex which is fine by me. Lux cures Josh’s chronic fuckboy syndrome with her amazing vagina and they spend the rest of the book calling each other horrible pet names (princess and beastie boy…zero stars, do not recommend).
Josh and Lux both have lots of skeletons in their closets and as the book unfolds, their secrets catch up with them. When they aren’t ferociously boinking they are spending equal amounts of energy keeping the truth of their lives from each other. Lux also passes out repeatedly in this book and I wondered when someone was gonna do a thorough cardiac work up on her, thankfully she eventually gets some proper medical care.
Overall the first half of this book is delicious smut with the plot thickening and story picking up more in the second half as we learn more about Josh’s and Lux’s pasts and they deal with all the repercussions in the present.
Thanks Carly for this ARC

Can the playboy & the shy workaholic break each others walls down without even meaning to?
The immediate chemistry between Josh & Lux was a massive hit, neither one wanted anything but fun. They definitely had fun. Who knew the devilish minx would be hiding behind an amazing mind, but no one could image the horror she was hiding.
The parents in this are disgusting in every matter. It's actually heartbreaking. The unconditional love that's suppose to be there, clearly never was
Absolutely can not wait for this story to continue.
This was such an enjoyable read for me!! It was well written, the characters were relatable and the development was good too!! The spicy scenes were 🥵🥵🥵🥵. Also the their chemistry was soooo grttt and the ending was good too. overall a fun, fluffy read. This is the kind of book you read sitting in a your balcony with hot chocolate/coffee getting your romance book fix on a Sunday morning 🤍🤍. The thing that didn't work for me was the pet name Beasty boy :( but i could over look it. Also many thanks to the author for sending this book to me as an ARC in exchange for an honest review
I could not put my Kindle down. I needed to know what gonna happen with these 2. The chemistry 🔥🔥🔥. Josh was the typical play boy but there was something with Lux that made him live. Both had issues from the past but it was intriguing to find out what they were hiding. Loved the friend group that they had and the characters were so good. I didn't expect to get choked up at points but their love won ❤ I love Josh and Lux. Can't wait to see more of them in book 2.....
I could not put this book down! I loved the instant and very steamy attraction between the two leads Josh and Lux! Where are the Josh’s of the world hiding!?! The added mystery and twists just made it so much better! I did not see that ending coming at all! So good! I cannot wait to read the rest of the series!
This is a story of two lost souls finding one another and the bumps in the road that try to tear them apart. The plot and characters were strong. Unfortunately I did have to take away a star for grammatical errors throughout the book that tended to pull focus from the story. Otherwise, this was an excellent read and I plan to read upcoming C Woakes books.
