DCI David Garrick faces his most difficult task yet with a serial killer hunting people on dating apps… and a brutal arsonist punishing their victims in the most horrific ways imaginable.
As the two cases begin to overlap, Garrick and his team find themselves on a twisting path where nothing is as it seems, and nobody is to be trusted.
Recovering from a delicate operation, Garrick begins to wonder if he’s really up for the job… and doubts if he is really cured from the paranoia and hallucinations that seem to have been dogging him…
I've read all 5 books in this series and on the whole the stories are pretty reasonable. I'll just echo other reviews by saying to the author: for heaven's sake get yourself a decent proofreader! There are so many errors, spelling mistakes, swapping of people's names and completely wrong words being used e.g. "subscribed" instead of "prescribed", someone screaming "obesities" instead of "obscenities"... I could go on but it's the same in every book. No excuse really, especially in Kindle editions. It's irritating enough to break up the flow.of the writing.
The only reason I gave this a 3⭐ (generous in my opinion) is because I've enjoyed the series until this book. This book was kinda painful to read through and it felt drawn out. It was easy to guess who the killer was and there wasn't very much here that went with his sisters case except the look back. The best part of the whole book was Garrick's dream and the clothes he woke up in. SPOILER: at the ending when Wendy told Garrick she's pregnant felt like a predictable step to advance the plot for the next book 😒. Hopefully the next book is better.
I’ve given this a 2 star rating for two main reasons. As the series has progressed I feel that the plots have become more formulaic and predictable; the villain in this one was obvious from the start. Endless product placement and Americanisms jarred but what I found really grating was the huge number of typos and content error.
Another excellent story by M G Cold in the DCI Carrick series. Quite a complicated set of incidents for the team to try and unravel whilst he vs also had to deal with changes in his personal life. Good characters.Looking forward to reading more in the series.
There were typographical errors on almost every page. The constant use of Americanisms grated. I had to look the word commissary up only to find it means canteen. Three pages later, the word canteen was used.
The story itself was good and I am warning to the characters, but please use a proof reader before publication. And stop using so many Americanisms.
Another great book by m g Cole in the dci Garrick series keeps you guessing right till the end have already downloaded the next in the series to my kindle and will start after IVE read another book in anew series IVE seen
Enjoyed all the books in this series but guessed early on in this one who the killer was. Please get a proof reader as there were so many little errors and it niggles a bit
As his usual he is on his back foot in his personal life and thinks he is struggling with his professional life. A good mix of police procedure and life
