Autumn was coming to an end and the New Year’s Ball was drawing near. The back and forth letters exchanged between Aris and the male lead caused him to develop feelings for her. Every fiber of his being seemed to gravitate toward her.
The male lead decides to attend the New Year’s Ball with hopes of seeing Aris in person, unaware that she was expecting his presence. Aris knew she had to look her best. That man was her future husband, after all.
In many ways this series is not very quick, its a slow, contemplative amble towards the evitable romance. Obstacles presented are little more than gnats and both Aris and Roy are remarkably level headed (despite protestations otherwise).
In this volume they deepen their feelings, with Roy admitting that Aris meant a lot to him because of how sincere her letters were. Aris' feelings never wavered, if anything they made her bolder.
Hiel, the Crown Prince, attempts to make waves but they peter out at the very obvious regard the two have (not that Hiel feels romantic towards Aris). I kind of wonder of Thurwin (Roy's right hand man) and Lucine may end up together.
This volume seemed more focused on romance without any other overt tension or plot twists. This kind of made it feel incomplete to me and makes me wonder if volume three will be more of the same or if the couple will have to fight through non-stop trials in volume three. I am slightly less inclined to get the next volume as a result since I might find the next volume either too boring or too tragic! I also wish the publishers would either combine volumes to meme the stories fuller and more satisfying for the U.S. market. I may be alone in that desire though. Lol!
**STAR BREAKDOWN - WEBNOVEL EDITION** Cover: ★★★★☆, though I wish each volume had a different cover, like the translations of MXTX’s webnovels Story: ★★★☆☆ Characters: ★★★☆☆ Enjoyment Level: ★★★☆☆ Easy For a Beginner?: Yes One-And-Done?: According to Amazon, it will be 4 translated volumes. Bonus?: Vol 1 is free on KU Support the Author Through: Amazon? Unsure where else… Overall Rating: 3 out of 5 carefully sealed letters
This was on the shorter side compared to Vol 1, but it’s roughly $6 on Amazon, so the price to length ratio isn’t too bad. This volume focuses mostly on Aris and Roy meeting, and the start of their official relationship.
Volume 2 in the series, and I found their interaction just too cute! This volume focused more on their romance with minimal tension between other characters, especially now that Roy and Arisa have met face to face since their letter exchange began.
I found Roy a lot more innocent and a little more awkward in this volume, which for me added to his charm.
I look forward to the next volume, to not only see their relationship solidify, but also the trials they will have to face.
I brought the first volume on a whim....after reading it I immediately brought the second book. I couldn't wait to read the next volume that I would re-read the first from time to time, lol. Of course, I have already brought the third volume.....I loved the first two and I know I will love the third!
I'm not the right person to criticize a book for its editing quality, but I think editing obsessed readers would have a lot to say. To me all the errors don't matter much because I love the story, I love how romance slowly burns me 😆🙈💕
