I Adopted a Villainous Dad, one of the most popular Korean novels, is now available to read officially in English. I Adopted a Villainous Dad is a heartwarming and comedic medieval fantasy of the child saintess who only wants to live a peaceful life with her father. The only issue? He's the novel's villain.
Amelia has a new goal in life—world domination. It was the only acceptable method to save her daddy aka the novel's villain from annihilation from Kais, the little boy who would eventually kill her daddy later in the novel. To do this, she'll have to rule the world. The servants around her seem to find it cute and not at all serious. She'll just have to pay them no mind.
Between eating and planning world domination, she suddenly meets Arianne, her second favorite character in the novel. Soon she finds herself unable to look away from her. Meeting your favorite characters? It was a dream come true for little Amelia.
This is my second read through as I'm rereading volumes 1 through 3 so that I can read four and five with a fresh memory. I dropped the rating from 5 to 4 stars because I felt this volume didn't have any particular moments that stood out remarkably in my mind. Well I enjoyed the read thoroughly, I find myself hard pressed to remember a specific moment in this volume that stood out in any particular way to me. A lot of the stuff going on in this one feels like it's important to the development of the story and yet at the same time feels intensely like filler. I still very much enjoy the interactions of the main characters but the story itself doesn't feel like it's having much development. On top of that, there are some inconsistency in the formatting of the book. There are a lot of moments where the story switches perspective between characters and when this happens it goes from first person to third person inconsistently. In addition to that there are the occasional poor word choices and misspellings. It feels to me like it was not edited by someone who speaks English as a first language. I don't think there's anything wrong with having someone understand the source language, Korean, well but I do think that after translating it someone who is an avid English speaker should read it for a quick editing as well. There's just some moments that feel really off.
This story just gets better and better. I really like how the characters are growing and the relationships are changing. The father daughter dynamic is too cute and I like that the emperor is now actively trying to be a better person and wants Amelia to help him do so. It really starts to grow the relationship with the rest of his relatives to make for a fun development. The devious plots still surround them as well as the mysteries of Amelia being the saintess and what that means. Can't wait to read what comes next.
Further adapting to her new life, we see how everyone close to her is basically wrapped around her tiny fingers, and it what lengths they would do to help her. Not only that, but by using her 'cuteness' everyone also adores her.
In this volume, we see interactions with characters who had affected her (as Pricilla) in the past, and the impact it still has on her due to her past memoires.
I need to do my homework yet instead I binge read this novel because it’s so good. The saintess is a cutie pie and her father is just so awesome. I want photos of him and I want to build a shrine just for him. He deserves to be worship. As you can see Amelia made me a believer. In short, we all stalk Amelia and her father so hard!
So I just left It in the background for a whole year... It was fun but unlike the first volume not much happened. Best parts are when irksome assholes get their lifes ruined 😆😇 I do keep forgetting Amelia Is tecnically only 6 tho, but It does make It More fun if you imagine a little kid being the mastermind behind all the random new business and weird magical events.
i think it’s so cute how almost everyone adored our little amelia. especially her daddy who is so soft for her. i tried to read this one as slowly as i could because i didn’t want it to be over. but alas… how will i survive until the next volume?
Good continuation! But i think that the series will be very long because the female lead is still 7 years old. Still, does not take away the fact that i liked the book
