Wickham believes life is cruel to him until he comes face-to-face with an irresistible pair of dark brown glinting eyes and falls in love.

He is bored with his wife, Lydia, and his lot in life. She drives him as mad as a hornet’s nest, and he does not give her the attention and respect she demands. They both yearn for change.

When Wickham leaves England to fight against Napoléon’s army in France, they both get their chance. However, what they want is dangerous, foolhardy, and could wind up killing Wickham and ruining Lydia’s reputation forever. Lydia’s wicked neglect of their infant son in favour of her own desires and need for attention could lead her into very hot water. Wickham’s desire for the Frenchwoman he yearns for could be his complete undoing.

We are immersed into the world of Wickham and Lydia, which really is a case of "who is more self-centred?". Aminadra does a great job of keeping them both in terrible character and they are generally unlikeable and I did question the fact that I was reading a story about two characters that are horrid and deserve each other. Both characters show some growth in terms of their feelings towards their son, but still have a long ways to go. A looonnnngggggg ways to go. I don't even know if they can be redeemed. The story ends on a huge cliff-hanger and I wonder how it's going to pan out, which means I have to read more about Wickham and Lydia, hahaha.

Love the cover. Lydia and Wickham. I don't know what to say. Not my favorite Wickham alternate ending story. Lydia is something else.

I kept picking this book back up, hoping that it would be become more enjoyable. I'd read two other Pride and Prejudice-based books by Aminadra, so I was hoping for this one to be fun. However, although Wickham shows some very small signs of character growth and a tiny conscience, overall both he and Lydia are so self-centered as to be thoroughly unlikable. The insta-love between Wickham and Helene was ridiculous and I found the ending contrived and lacking in major details, such as Helene and Wickham not mentioning whether or not they'll be leaving her young daughter to be raised by the man that's been abusing her since they first married. I wish I would have skipped this one.

Wickham: Pride and Prejudice Continues - Book 3

My feelings about this book are torn. Story started with Lydia and Wickham's military regiment in the north of England in Scarborough having moved from Newcastle. Relationship between the two of them were exactly as expected - bitter and argumentative. Lydia is in confinement with their second child, the first being stillborn. She delivers him a son and he is absolutely in awe of his son. Lydia not so much. Wickham's regiment is called to France, and Lydia travels home to Longbourn arriving almost at death's door, she and the baby. In France, Lieutenant Wickham and his two lieutenant friends are sent on a surveillance mission to check out the nearest village when a villager is sighted. They find the village occupied and realize that some French soldiers were posing as villagers. Kill four not realizing two escaped. One the way back to camp, one of the lieutenants is shot. For a brief moment in time it looks like Wickham is going to change for the better and grow a conscience! But Wickham has to be wicked Wickham, and his foolishness gets him to big trouble for treason. Ended with a twist.

It is impossible to explain why I didn’t enjoy this story without spoilers.

I didn’t care for the cliffhanger ending. What became of Lydia? I was more interested in her journey than Wickham’s.

Does a good job with story, makes Lydia and Wicham more complex

I have read the books in this series and this one is by far the most interesting and exciting, even though the characters are less likeable. The author does a great job of developing them into more complex characters while still sticking to canon. At times I had a hard time putting it down. I'm still a little taken out of the story by numerous contemporary idioms and less attention is paid to style of speech but nonetheless worth reading and I'm looking forward to the next one.

Lydia and Wickham have always seemed utterly unredemable and deserving of each other. They are still both terrible people but now more can be understood of their character. I still do not like either of them, but Wickham is not without a conscience and Lydia at least loves her family in her own way. However, it does seem like this story has more to it with how it ended. Wickham is off in France with his love hiding from both armies and Lydia is at Longbourn barely a step away from adultery as well and now thinking her husband died. Oh the drama!

Very good

Well written. As it is mostly about Wickham and Lydia I didn't find it as interesting as those with the main characters. I found that towards the end it felt rushed. The following book explained what happened.
I didn't notice any typos or grammatical errors. I had hoped that it would end better, though, it was obvious where it was going.
I believe I only played .99 while it was on sale, worth that.
If you're !pre of a fan with these characters, you'll probably enjoy it more than I did. But, that's because of how it ended.

Exciting but full of mistakes

Exciting story that keeps one interested but disappointing mistakes. Need to review my notes top see if this is the book with all the lax manners,. Vocabulary was good. But also disappointing in that iam unable to recall any changes for the two primary characters. Should either of them get such undeserved happy endings, if such athing were possible. Also too much trashy porno language (any is to much, especially when not well done)

Interesting

Ok story, but Lydia is always the stupid one. I can't believe that Wickham got a break and gets to be safe. Hope the war office tells about his treason a very unsatisfying book

Una lettura molto piacevole che dà un seguito ai personaggi di Jane Austen. L'odioso Wickham diventa protagonista di un capitolo tutto dedicato a lui e a sua moglie Lydia. Letto nella traduzione italiana di Vintage Editore

George Wickham goes off to France to fight Napoleon, and falls in love.

Lydia Wickham takes her son to her family home, Longbourn, and falls in love.

Both characters are still as shallow and morally challenged as they were in Pride and Prejudice. Also, the ending leaves both characters in limbo; a sequel will be needed to tell the readers what happened subsequently.

The story continues with the Wickham's marriage. Wickham's regiment is waiting to be called to join the war on the continent but have either of them changed, where will Lydia go once the regiment has left and does she start to grow up.
Enjoyed, and wondering whether there will be another story told.
