Our Rules by CC MacKenzie sees the return of this lovely author after several years. Our Rules is a Ludlow Nights Romance with cameos of plenty of out favorite characters from previous books. This one focuses on Anders Bergen, a phenomenal photojournalist turned fashion photographer, and a model named Tanith Rucker who is the younger sister of Ana, who is Nico Ferrante's head of publicity and helped launch Tanith's career. She fell into modeling, a career she didn't really want. She really wanted to write books about zombies. They found themselves working together on a shoot in Mexico and living in the same villa as the male model they were working with, Vittorio Thundercloud, with whom Tanith had incredible chemistry with on camera and none at all in real life. The shoot was over and then there was an earthquake. Beyond frightening. The three of them climbed into the jeep and made for safety. It was a nightmare. The worst part was no cell service so she could not let her family know. Vittorio was hurt so he went to the hospital, but Anders and Tanith tried to help. Eventually things got better and they returned to the villa where, several days later they were kidnapped by terrorists (or a drug cartel?) In a vague attempt to protect Tanith, Anders was injured, halting her attempts to free them both. They were saved based on a good deed they had done several days earlier and eventually Christopher Rucker and Nico Ferrante arrived with a helicopter to retrieve them. They were both in love but Anders felt the crippling PTSD from which he suffered kept him from being the man for her so he escaped to Outer Mongolia. She returned home to recover.
Nico Ferrante, his wife Bronte, and the others in this novel made short appearances but are vital to the story. Nico is Italian, as he will mention at the drop of a hat, and can solve and problem, and usually does. Reconnecting with all of these characters feels like coming home. Tanith and Anders are meant to be together, but nothing is ever easy so it takes a while. There is a lot packed into this book, although it flows and makes good sense as the reader is living it. If you love romance, read all of the Ludlow Nights related books. You will never regret it.
Tanith and Anders were made for each other even if it took them a while to get there. Love the chemistry, even as damaged as he was somehow they knew those hot tingly feelings could not be silenced or ignored. As always when reading these books its like visiting with old friends, loved getting a peek of Nico , Bronte and even the feisty Birdie! For fun exciting and thrilling read, pick up this book!
I love CC Mackenzie’s Ludlow series, I’ve read them all, this one was not her best. There were grammatical errors, mistakes with names. Didn’t enjoy this one. It felt like this book was written by someone else, it wasn’t her usual lighthearted/serious (if it makes sense) book.
