Tomas' quest for answers carries him west once again. He journeys toward the town of Razin, growing quickly as the railroads continue their relentless march across the land. There, he hopes to track down a dark figure from his past.
Before he reaches town, a chance encounter with a young man teaches Tomas that Razin is full of secrets.
Plunged into a mystery he wasn't prepared for, Tomas soon finds himself beset by enemies on all sides. The secrets of Razin have keepers, more than happy to send curious souls to the other side of the gates.
Here, though, he's not alone.
Aided by a fiery marshal and her loyal deputies, Tomas fights to peel away the layers of a terrible conspiracy. But their enemies are smarter, stronger, and more ruthless than ever before.
Whether he finds the truth or not, he's in for the fight of his life.
Outstanding trilogy,, Ryan Kirk is at top of his game, strong writing, great story.
Ryan Kirk remains at the top of his game with this stunning, entirely satisfying, trilogy of a series O cab only hope returns soon and quickly. I enjoyed this trilogy immensely! Long time fan and follower of Ryan Kirk, he continues to exceeds my expectations and sharpen, hone his talents, skills and creativity. I cannot wait to read more! Thank you Ryan Kirk, work well done.
This series has the most refreshing and entertaining story that I've read in a while. It does take many elements from things that have already been done but mixes them up in an amazing way. I've been a sci-fi/fantasy reader my whole life, but this made me want to go read old westerns because it makes them look that good.
Obviously shape-shifters have been done a million times before, but this is a whole new way of looking at that from a different perspective. Instead of humans with the ability to access an animal awareness, hosts have an existence where the animal is awakened to human sentience. I love the interplay between them and the philosophical ideas that it raises for the character.
The main character started as the classic, entertaining, but stereotypical roamer with a golden heart, but he develops into a multi-dimensional person that I have really become attached to. Another thing that I love is that this author also writes a great female supporting cast. I'm not gonna lie, I love a good prince charming coming to the rescue. Sometimes you want to read that sort of escapism. But sometimes it's nice when, like in these books, the women just handle their business. Unlike a trash novel that is fun but completely unbelievable, I can actually identify with the female protagonist in book three who just does what needs done and gets on with her life. You know, the way real people do.
All in all, I couldn't get enough. I read all three books in the course of two days and can't wait for more.
Book one of the series was a promising beginning into this tale of a warrior named Tomas, and his somewhat symbiotic partner, Elzeth. Book two, for me, was somewhat disappointing, as mr, Kirk introduced elements to the story that were too out of place and hard to believe. However, Ryan did a fantastic job moving on from the distraction of book to, returning to the elements that made the first novel shine, and made it even better! Thank you Ryan Kirk for bringing the story back to what Tomas and Elzeth do best! And please keep Angela in the story! They have a future together! 😁
This third book was an entertaining read, which is good as I wasn’t that happy with the second book. I was sure I wasn’t going to continue reading the series, but I’m glad I changed my mind.
Can’t get enough of this story, and I’m glad to jump into the next story. Just when you thought there would be peace the rug is pulled from underneath and you’re yanked into more action. Love it seems is beyond reach, but there is hope !
Normally after the 3rd book, a series tends to lose steam. Not this one, my fellow readers. The story keeps getting better and more interesting. On to the next!
This is a really fun series. Super contained in its scale and effective in the setting it carves for each book. While it might not be that super thought provoking and although the dialogue is sometimes wooden, it makes up for it with a really good and fun story. I'm excited to read the next book and I will read this series again in the future.
