I’m a full-time executive assistant. I’m a (secret) romance author. But I’m not a wedding planner. So when my boss suddenly adds planning his wedding to my to-do list, I’m not prepared or happy about it. As if I have time to plan a wedding on top of everything else?
When I visit the wedding venue they’ve chosen, I’m also not prepared for Arthur Wright. He’s the events manager and the person I’ll be working closely with. And he’s too kind, funny and hot for my own good.
Things get even hotter when we end up snowed in together at the honeymoon cottage.
After that night, okay maybe after the second night, we both agree that things can’t possibly work between us. With me living in Denver and him four hours away in Ever Lake, it’s not going to happen. But that doesn’t stop us from staying friendly. Truthfully, probably too friendly.
When the timeline of my boss’s wedding is pushed up, our circumstances temporarily change and I end up staying with Art up until the wedding.
Life feels like it can’t get any better, but it’s not real life. There’s an end date to this fantasy.
And I’m in the business of writing fantasies…not living them.
Jean Marie has been falling in love with characters in books for as long as she can remember. From an early age, she escaped into the worlds created by others. And now she's finally creating some herself, complete with sexy heroes and relatable heroines.
When she's not reading, she's drinking some tea, probably watching a truly tragic medical drama, or reading. Her debut series takes place in the fictional small town in Vermont and features famous garlic knots, some serious steam, and a whole lot of heart.
Even though Natalie spends her days working as an executive assistant, she’d much rather pursue her fantasy romance writing full time. When her boss adds planning his wedding to her list of duties, Natalie panics. After all, wedding planning is not part of her normal job description.
That’s without even adding Arthur, the events manager of her boss’ chosen venue, into the mix. Arthur is hot, funny, and kind, and Natalie can’t help but notice. But with him living four hours away in Ever Lake, how can they ever be?
Okay, so this is my first book by Jean Marie, but I really, truly adored it! Art and Natalie are such likable, realistic characters, and I loved watching their relationship change and grow over the course of the novel. I also loved that even though the reader gets a lot of background information, it doesn’t get too overwhelming or take away from the plot.
Natalie. She’s got a bit of a stubborn streak, but that’s just part of her charm. She’s super sweet, and a bit of an introvert, which is definitely something I can relate to. Art. This man is something else!!! He’s kind, funny, and caring, plus that mouth of his had me putting my kindle down to swoon. I loved the two of them together, and I loved how supportive Art was of Natalie’s writing. All in all, I give this 5 steamy stars!!!
Natalie is an executive assistant by day and in secret an author by night. She has plans to move up in her day job, but her boss has now added wedding planner to her list of duties. Is her hard work being seen?
Art is the event manager for the location of the boss’s wedding. The location is in Ever Lake, a small mountain town in Colorado. As the two plan the wedding, the relationship grows. Will the distance be a problem? The wedding is creating an expiration date for her to be in Ever Lake. She is expected back in Denver after the wedding.
The author has done a great job of setting up the series. We get just enough background to want more. Some fun side characters are introduced. I am looking forward to reading more about the Wright family.
Thank you to the author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.
Through the Storm by Jean Marie was a sweet, small town strangers to lovers story that I simply loved! This was my first book by Jean Marie, and certainly will not be my last. Art and Natalie's love story made my heart swoon and super happy.
I love the chemistry between Art and Natalie. When they first met, there was this instant connection. Art helps run his family's lodge where Natalie is helping her boss and his fiance plan their wedding. Art was such a loyal, charismatic lover that took the time to really cherish Natalie and help her envision her goals. (even if she was a bit stubborn at times.) Natalie is a personal assistant, but on the side she is an author. She dreams of writing full time one day, but thinks there is no stability in it it. Natalie is a determined fierce female but also has several vulnerabilities to over come. When Art and Natalie come together, it is one really good time!
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. If you love a small town romance with a fun flirty hunky man, a brave determined female finally realizing she can have her dreams, a charismatic supportive family, a self absorbed boss, forced proximity that leads to steamy times, and an HEA that will make you smile so big, then I highly recommend this book! I look forward to more from Jean Marie!
Through the Storm is the first book of the Wright Brothers series. Through the storm is a strangers to lovers with forced proximity in a small town. Natalie is a personal assistant and a secret romance author that has to plan her boss’s wedding and meets Art the events planner of the wedding venue that’s also a bed and breakfast. They are attracted to each other and get snow in together in the honeymoon cottage and things get hot. Natalie and Art have to decide if there relationship lasts once the wedding is over. This is a great easy and well balanced book with steam and a little conflict, but not too emotional. Natalie says she likes to torture her readers a bit and I think Jean Marie also likes to torture the reader a bit also since this book does have a happy ending but it leaves a lot of unanswered questions which I am hoping will be answered in the next books of the series. This is a sweet and steamy book. I can’t wait until the next book of the series, I just wish the ending was a little more complete or fewer loose ends. Still an excellent start to the series and looking forward to the next book.
I was honored to receive an ARC and voluntarily leaving a review.
Jean Marie knows how to write small town romances! You are sucked in on the first page, and cannot put it down! A lot of great characters were introduced and I cannot wait to read their stories!
Natalie is an executive assistant by day and a secret romance author by night. She is sorta stuck in her life. She wants the stability that her job brings, but she also wants to make it as an author. When she is put in charge of her bosses wedding, she meets Art. And soon sparks fly!
Art is an event planner at his family's wedding venue/bed and breakfast. Art is super close to his family and does whatever he can to help them. When the two of them get snowed in together, all bets are off!
The chemistry between the two of them is insane! They both know that Natalie is going to leave wants the wedding is over, but what if she stays? What is they give this thing between them a chance?
This is a great book that has it all. Lots of steam, and very little conflict. I cannot wait for the next one!
Oh. My. Goodness. I won this arc in a giveaway and was super excited to read it, I'm a big fan of small town love stories and this really just felt like my kind of love story. And HOLY SMOKES I was so right! What a deliciously fun, torturous, charismatic, and loving story! I immediately fell in love with both Natalie and Arthur, and watching them come together was just epic! This couple y'all, they're DELICIOUS! And now I'm so invested in their family and friends and this town, I'm literally begging for the next book! Get ready to fall in love & find your new dream town, because Ever Lake is where it's at! Now, where's my Ever Lake swag? I neeeeeeeeeed some!
This was such a wonderful story! Natalie is an executive assistant who is roped into planning her boss' wedding, she is also secretly a romance writer. Art runs the wedding side of his family's business and begins working with Natalie. Natalie ends up working and staying at Art's family business while falling for Art. This is a lovely story of finding yourself and your happiness while also finding love. The author did a fantastic job of including enough background for the characters and showing their independent growth and their steamy love story. I can't wait to read the next story in the series!
This is one HELL of a story that consumed my thoughts, seduced my heart and blew my mind. Natalie & Art’s attraction was palpable, chemistry explosive and love was so damn swoon-worthy you felt it deep in your soul. The steamy scenes will melt you. This book engulfs you and drags you into the characters lives. I was so sad to reach the end of the book! Truly a five star read!! I can’t wait for the rest of the Wright Brother’s stories and hope there’s a book for their sister, Mack, too! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
This is a great spin off from the end of Plot Twist. Natalie & Art’s chemistry is instantaneous and sizzles off the page. The steamy scenes are more prevalent in this story, as Natalie and Art work through Natalie’s professional struggles.
This book has a HEA and not a cliffhanger, but leaves it open for other supporting characters to evolve in future books. I am on board with the sexy, supportive partner for both characters. I can’t wait for additional Wright Brothers (or siblings, in Mack’s case) stories.
I received an advanced reader copy prior to leaving this review.
This story had it all! I love the way Jean crafted two perfect characters and had their love story plot out in the perfect timing. Their flow and development was right on point and the struggles they had to overcome were so relatable yet unique. I loved Through the Storm so much and can’t wait to see what comes next in the Wright Brothers series
This is my first book by this author and I quite enjoyed it. I left a star off because it leaves you to wonder what's going on with the parents? I'm happy for the happy ending and the fact that they both end up with their hearts desire. A true HEA. Hopefully, these two will be in the rest of the series.
I saw this Rec from this author in another author go up, and thought .. why not? Sure glad I did. It’s a cute close proximity story. There’s a little drama, but not in an annoying way. Both h and H are mature, which I appreciate. Def give this one a whirl.
I loved the characters in this book. The plot was slow at times, and I often felt overwhelmed with some of the details, but the characters are endearing and sweet and it was a good love story.
-story was nice, sweet and fun -am curious about the rest of the family -from a personal preference perspective: the writing was a little juvenile (not very descriptive, flow was a little choppy) -good dirty talk 🔥
Natalie is going to be the weeding planner for her boss. She meets Art when they have to go to the lodge where the wedding will be held. The chemistry between the two of them was off the chart. They had a few ups and downs but everything worked out in the end.
Loved this book. I have only signed up to follow a handful of authors, and this new author is one of them. I can't wait for the next book in her series.
