Quille suspects it relates to the victim's fascination with UFO stories. But no one who knew him is willing to tell her everything.

Even if it means a killer goes free.

There's a Halloween scene and the story continues on into November so now is the perfect time to grab the book and feel like you are right alongside Quille… either with or without the cold nip in the air.

As the fifth book in the series opens, it's late October. Quille has been considering taking on a challenge that relates to her past in hopes it will bring some closure and bring her family closer together. She wasn't looking for more "on her plate" but it came her way just the same. Can she figure out a way to fit everything into her already crowded schedule? If she does, will it cost her dearly?

I'm always in awe of how much Quille can accomplish in the course of her day. Time management is a skill that not many masters. Yes, I know she is a fictional character but reading these stories, I feel as though I'm in her mind and watching real-life events passing by. That's a true testament to the abilities of the author.

Disclaimer: I was provided an advanced copy of this book, which I voluntarily read, and above are my honest opinions. The published version is now safely tucked in my collection.

Another thoroughly satisfying Q.C. Davis mystery. I started out afraid I would be more interested in Quille's investigation into her sister's death than the main mystery, but I found myself quickly wrapped up in the fascinating world of alien experiencers, class action lawsuits, and of course, the city of Chicago, which is a character in itself.

Quille’s fifth case is an increasingly layered affair, as the long term mystery of her own sister’s murder picks up speed in the background and she has her full crew chasing simultaneous leads on the murder of a class action lawyer hiding an unusual passion project on the side. Fun stuff, and it makes me want to try out the water taxis one of these days, too.
