Reese Turmel has sworn off women. Commitment wasn’t something he was willing to consider again after his wife cheated on him while he was on deployment. However, not even a man as jaded as the former SEAL could deny the instant attraction that sizzled to life the first time he walked into Treats Bakery and saw the beautiful woman behind the counter—and he tried.

Sadie Pierce has vowed never to trust another man—not since the last one she let into her life cleaned out all of her bank accounts. Now on the verge of losing her bakery, she’s more determined than ever to ignore the man who is a walking, talking, dream come to life. The problem is, Reese is of a different mind and refuses to give up.
With a deadline looming, Reese ups his game and makes Sadie an offer she can’t refuse. An offer that comes with consequences neither of them was prepared for.

An·tic·i·pa·tion [/anˌtisəˈpāSH(ə)n/]
noun
the action of anticipating something; expectation or prediction.

That’s the definition according to the dictionary. For me it’s that fluttery feeling in my stomach. That tingling sensation moving across my skin. That’s what I feel when I know I’ll be reading a new story by Riley Edwards.

As I sit here getting ready to write my review of Dangerous Games, the newest book in Ms. Edwards Takeback series, I wonder how many times I can wax poetic about what an awesome writer Ms. Edwards is in my reviews before it’s too much. Then I think a new reader of Riley Edwards may read my review and should know what they are getting. So prepare for epic fan gushing to ensue…

Where to start with Reese & Sadie’s story…these characters. GAH! I love each and every couple that I’ve ‘met’ in Riley Edwards books but I think Reese & Sadie may be my favorite. Is it the snarky Sadie that has so much gumption and strength that you can’t help but admire her? Or is it the way Reese doesn’t want to fight Sadie’s battles for her but just wants to be at her side as she fights them, supporting her and cheering her on? Maybe it’s because the way they fall for each other, are so attuned that words are not needed because actions speak louder than words…

I don’t know.

I do know that this book had me laughing out loud, crying, and staying up super late because I didn’t want to put it down. I do know that the minute I finished the book, I wanted to flip to the beginning and start again. I love Riley’s writing style. I know going in with each and every book the awesomeness that I’m going to get. I know that I’ll be able to relate to her characters, find life lessons sprinkled throughout and come out being better for having read her book. Some may think that’s a misnomer seeing as I’m reading a fictional romance book but read one of her books. You’ll see what I’m talking about.

So here’s my summary of this book: it’s great. Not just great. PHENOMENAL. But that’s not a surprise if you’ve read Riley Edwards books before. My advice to first time readers? Heck to any and all readers of Riley’s? BRACE. Be prepared for all the feels, the angst, the twist, the ups, the downs. But it’ll be worth it. OH. SO. WORTH. IT.

PS: Mrs. S? ADORE HER! I want to be her when I grow up!

4.5⭐️

This is my first Riley Edwards book and I'm loving it. I need to get back to the first two books ASAP. Sadie and Reese's story held my attention from the first page until the very end. I couldn't put it down even though I didn't want it to end. But these two? I loved the two of them together.

Once Reese decided he was ready to pursue his attraction to Sadie, he went all in. I loved how protective he is of her but at the same time, he didn't smother her. He stands by her side and supports her because Sadie is very independent and to some extent, kind of prideful. I can't wait for the next book.

Conflicted

I am so conflicted. I love a Riley Edwards book. She mixes emotion, heart and action in a recipe that usually has a perfect outcome.

But this time, something was off. I am not sure if it was the long monologues or repetitive thoughts that put me off. There is chemistry but I was left a bit cold. Some of the story we were told and not shown which was disappointing as I felt a disconnect with the characters.

Reese and Sadie have a bit of a push pull and yet I was not emotionally invested in their HEA. And the suspense element did not provide enough tension in my view.

In general, the story was good, if not great, the romance had heart and character growth, but the book did not have the same polished feel I have come to appreciate from the author.

Fans will enjoy the story and check- in with previous characters, so don't discard this book from your tbr pile. However, if you are new to the series or Riley Edwards' books, perhaps check out one or two of her other works first, before coming back to this book.

I felt so bad for Sadie at the start of this one. She was hanging on by her fingernails, praying that things would turn out ok after having been screwed over by 2 different guys, one being her brother. I wished that she would have talked to her friends, things would have gotten fixed sooner, because as soon as all of them found out what Sadie was going through they all jumped in to help her.

I really liked how Reese let Sadie know he was interested in her. Sure at first it wasn't all hearts and butterflies, but quickly it turned into that. Reese had no problem letting Sadie know he was all in and in it for the long term.

While things were scary towards the end, they did end in a great way! I love that Sadie and Reese went full speed ahead with their relationship and were living life happy.

I loved Reese and Saide's story. Both of them were so down to earth. I didn't had the chance to read the other books from the series and for me their love was a little bit of slow-burn and little bit of insta-love. The suspense part was made quite good. I was soo happy that the story was equally balanced - love and suspense all together.

Let me tell you about the smut part - it was soo good and literally off the charts. Their chemistry was 🔥. None of them were afraid to confess their love to each other and the most I am glad about was - there was no tug and pull. So happy 😍.

In equal I looved the book.

Holy…I don’t even know! Wow! This book is off-the-charts awesome. Reese and Sadie are explosive together and their chemistry is sizzling hot. They are definitely made for each other. When it all clicked between them both, I loved how it happened – the “no need for words” moments. Total sigh!

Reese and Sadie are most definitely put through the wringer and nothing will be the same for either of them when it’s said and done. Their journey is suspenseful and intense – from the family drama, personal demons, and emotional struggles. Though it balances out nicely with their tight bonds of friendship and includes plenty of laughter, fun, romance, sexy times, and swoon-worthy moments.

Dangerous Games is a fast-paced page-turner that will keep you on your toes.

This book was absolutely freaking amazing!! I laughed, I cried, I spontaneously combusted at a few scenes and then I definitely laughed some more but wow, what a story! My takeaways from this story are this….family isn’t about being blood related. Sometimes family is about who has your back, who is always there for you, who will make it right when everything is wrong. The person or people that will literally put it all on the line for you. That is family.

For Sadie, she has amazing parents and friends but she learned growing up she needed to depend on herself….or did she? For Reese, his work is his life and his co workers are his family. He has loved Sadie from afar, but when her life is in danger? He steps in, along with her friends, and shows her what true love, the ride or die kinda love truly is!! The chemistry between Sadie and Reese is oh so hot but also sweet as hell when his alpha starts to show!! This is an amazing series!! Loved it!!

PS - we all need a Smuttie’s, a Letty and a Brooklyn in our life(and a Mrs S too!). The world would be a much better and hilarious place!!

I adored Sadie so much! I mean, I liked Reese also. And I really liked how he didn’t hesitate in making sure Sadie knew he was all-in, in a way he hadn’t wanted for YEARS. But the best part may be how they complemented each other. They were both strong, yet knew when to bend. They were both stubborn, but could compromise. And when they let their desires run free, they could reduce the entire town to ash with their adult times together!

This series has been a winner to me so far, and this book was no exception. And while I’m used to strong women from this author, the lengths Sadie went to on her own to try to claw her way out of a mess that wasn’t even her own making was admirable. Sure, she should’ve shared her troubles. But I got why she didn’t, and that only served to make her even stronger to everyone…once they finished berating her for not leaning on friends, that is. Add in the danger and the mystery and the twist that Reese said had to be coming and I was hooked to the very last page. And once I hit that page? I wanted more. Yeah. I’m that greedy. Not only did I want more of Reese and Sadie, but I need more of Davis and Wilson and holy cannoli, I need more of Sloane and “Adam” out in a sunny locale with a beach nearby.

So here I sit. Loving Sadie and Reese while hoping for Asher’s story to come fast!

One of the things I love most about Riley Edward's writing is the depth of her characters. Also the time she takes in exploring the range of emotions her characters have. Then when you add in the suspense, action, intrigue and steamy chemistry you get the very best reading experience. In Dangerous Games the true meaning of family and not having to go it alone are wonderful underlying themes. Undercover ops, a vicious MC gang, con artists, a toxic blood relative and so much more round out this story. Ms Edwards definitely nailed it yet again!

Reese Turmel and Sadie Pierce both have reason to be wary of relationships. Sadie's independent nature and natural instinct to trust have truly cost her. Being a protector and provider is part of Reese's DNA but his relationship history is not a good one and as a result he's spent 20 bitter years being alone. When these two finally get past their mistrust of the opposite sex and their
histories they are amazing together. When they finally pledge to be open and honest with one another they find an enduring love that will make you swoon.

Book 3 is as Sweet as Sadie!
In Book 3 of the Takeback series, “Dangerous Games,” Riley Edwards gives us the HEA between sweet (but cocky) Reese and once-bitten-twice-shy baker Sadie. Continuing the human trafficking case that is hitting too close to home, there is danger and intrigue in the story in addition to a healing love story between the main characters. There’s also bits and pieces of the rest of the Takeback team and the significant others who have popped up, giving the series a sense of family that just makes it all better in my opinion. And that’s actually something that I have always loved in Riley’s work - the way the heroes band together as brothers and create a tribe that is stronger together and extends to the kicka$$ women they bring into their lives. Such a special series!!!.

Riley has done it again she has taken my emotions and put them on a rollercoaster and boy what a ride it was. The chemistry between Reese and Sadie was great. Reese and Sadie both trying to figure out what to do and to accept help from each other. This book will have you laughing, crying, and it's full of suspense but watching these two come together and fall in love was something else. I loved all the advice Mrs. Simpson gave to both of them and her character is someone you want in your corner. Along with the guys from Takeback and their women. I'm sure we'll be seeing more of Sadie's brother and what he's gotten himself into.

Another win for Riley Edwards. I love all the guys of Takeback. They are tough as nails with a sweet inside. Sadie is more than capable of caring for herself but let’s her stubborn side get in her way. Reese is exactly what she needs. Someone to break down her walls and supporting her. The story is realistic, emotional, steamy and suspenseful. It checks all the boxes for a excellent romantic suspense novel. I highly recommend this book. Be prepared to read it straight through because you won’t want to put it down. . I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This book really lived up to it's promise. Reese is all things hot and helpful and protective. Sadie is as sassy and stubborn as any heroine. Add in a splash of family drama and some good heart to hearts. This is the kind of book that makes Riley Edwards an instant one click for me.

This is another great book by Riley Edwards! It is action packed, suspenseful, emotional, funny and steamy. Reese and Sadie have not had much luck in love. They have both sworn to never risk their hearts again and when their feelings start to show they fight them. When danger shows itself they will fight together. We have a bakery, a smutty bookstore, great friends, epic advice from Mrs. S, a sorry blood brother, the love of chosen brothers and chapters of life with a twist.

Dangerous Game is Book 3 in Riley Edwards Takeback series. I enjoyed reading this book, however there were times when I just want to wring Sadie's neck. As a longtime reader and a huge fan, I have to say that I almost have no problems with Ms Edwards Heroes. Unfortunately the same cannot be said with her heroines and Sadie is one of them. Sadie's character and personality just irked me, I find her to be too prideful at times. I find that Reese is just too good for her and he's very patient as well.

The storyline is good, not the greatest and I feel like lightning might strike me because I didn't find this series as gripping as her earlier works. Something is missing and for the life of me, I cannot pinpoint exactly what it was.

Having said that I'm still looking forward to reading more future books by Ms Edwards.

Bravo Riley Edwards! Dangerous Games was another thrilling addition to the Takeback series. Not only have I read the rest of the series but I have read all of this author's books. The Takeback series is her grittiest and steamiest to date so prepare yourselves for Dangerous Games. Sadie and Reese have appeared throughout the previous two books in the series and have been dancing around each other for awhile. Reese has his issues for not pursuing anything with Sadie but this lady has a plate full of bad things going on in her life and when Reese finds out about it he steps in to assist Sadie whether she wants his help or not! These two characters have great chemistry together and the storyline had me flipping pages to find out what happens next. If I go any deeper into details I would ruin your reading experience so I will say that it was told from dual POV and had action, heat, drama and ultimately a HEA that you will not soon forget!

Wow! I am stunned, stocked, and all other kinds of adjectives that would say how much I loved this book. Sadie was so sweet and wholesome and in need of a savior. Reese was a badass bachelor that had been kicked in the teeth by love. These two made an amazing pair. They each had so much to give to the other, they only needed to get over past hurts.

Riley Edwards has seriously outdone herself with this story and I really can’t imagine how she could top the greatness of this book, but I know she will. However if you could not make me cry when I’m at work that’s be great.

Page Turner

Wow! This book is a definite page turner. Once I started, I couldn’t stop. It just sucked me in from the beginning!! I absolutely loved how independent Sadie was and how all Reese wanted to do was help her. They were fire together! This book had laughs, romance and oage turning suspense that kept you on your toes. Now, when can I get Asher’s book??

Nope, nope, nope.

This is no way to write a book. At all. I tried. I really tried. This book should be half of what it is. The endless confessions and admissions from the characters over and over and over again is soooo tedious. On almost every page is a huge block of text that is just one character pouring out their soul and intentions. What??? Why does every moment need extreme declaration?? Why? It's so, so bad. Gah, no. This is just terrible. I liked the story. I wanted to see where it goes but the writing kicked me out of it. Very bad, lol. I can't believe it.

Alright, that's all. I’d normally not rate a book I dnfed but I went through so much with this one. I persevered. It should be a one star but the second star is for the story that tried but couldn't hold my attention with the writing.

Reese & Sadie

Another excellent suspense chapter in this series!

I love the writing and story style - no unnecessary relationship drama. The drama comes from the outside suspense elements, and while there are things to work out with the couples, the communication is top notch!

Reese & Sadie are another shining example of this, as well as having top notch communications. I ADORE the conversations they have - with each other, but also with Mrs Simpson, and individually with their friends. I also adore the relationship the whole group builds together. Magnificent!!

This story is steamy, but not overwhelmingly so. It's beautiful and enjoyable, and I'm diving into book 4 right away! This has proven to be a binge worthy series, up there with my favorites by Brynne Asher, Susan Stoker & C.E. Johnson!!

😍😍😍😍😍

There is something about the Takeback crew that is like no other suspense team out there. Every single one of the men are amazing, but in their own way. And the ladies. They are just stellar. No wilting flowers in this crew, all strong, resilient women waiting for the man to stand next to them and face the world. From the very first page of this series I have been a fan. And Dangerous Games is no different. Reese and Sadie have been in the background and with their quick wit and banter I knew this book was going to be fiery.
Sadie is a successful independent business woman. She owns a successful bakery but was taken advantage of and is now paying the price. Sadie is proud and has always done the right thing. She worked so hard to get to where she is at but doesn't know when to reach out and ask for help from friends. Least of all from the hot as sin man that she loves to bicker with!
Reese and Sadie have this intense bickering and bartering thing going, so when Reese overhears just how bad things are for Sadie he steps in. Except, it doesn't go as planned. And as the pair bicker and argue sparks fly. Reese is a man that is honest and protective to his core, but he has been burned in his past. He doesn’t do relationships, but with Sadie can he?
The push pull of Reese and Sadie was so amazing and very realistic. Both have pasts that are impacting their ability to move forward. I loved how Edwards created this dynamic between the two, and the emotions were perfect, they are more mature characters and I think that it showed on the page. There was a lot of communication between the two characters. I feel like sometimes there is almost a sense of manufactured drama in books, but that is not at all the case here.
The alpha male energy is off the charts in this book, and is not only Reese. Edwards did a stellar job showing readers how domineering these Takeback men can be when the safety and wellbeing of one of their own is at risk. While Reese and Sadie were the star of this book, the side characters shined bright. Wilson and Davis were swoon worthy and I am desperate for them each to find the strong woman that will bring them each to their knees.
If you are a fan of romantic suspense this book is definitely a must read. Also, clear your calendar because once you start this book you will not want to put it down! I am so looking forward to more of the Takeback series!

A woman In trouble. A very easy plot to write. You know where it's going to go, you just had to listen along. Only thing is, this is 9 hours long and its Riley Edwards, and that there is the game changer.
So the confidant H gets a dress down from the totally untrusting, man soured h. She's passionate sassy, hurt and irate
I cringed as Reece got slammed especially when, at the start, he didn't even know why. Then as the chapter opens up an old crisis from previous books still doesn't go away and once more danger looms.
I was ready to settle in to puzzle it out but I get a complete suprise as need, steam, hunger, anger and a complete gear changes it all.
Getting to know the H was entertaining, in previous novels he's been funny, witty and totally charming, now I'm getting to know the switched on, serious, passionate Reece.
The plotline unfolds slowly and with emotion as the h maintains her pride as 2 broken souls fight harder against themselves than with eachother.
But when they stopped struggling, the hotness ramped up and for me, one of the best lines Riley has ever written appears in this book.
"Giving my ex free rent in my head" simply awesome and I think a lot can relate.
Then the suspense and action tilts at a dangerous angle. While the alphas get into the scary situations, wonderful learning curves surface, especially from a surprising "bullpucky" source, which was simply delightful and, the "MammaJammer" crew.
The overall tone, for me, felt traditionally romantic laced with loyalty and providing trust.
I started to suspect a twist and Riley didn't disappoint. There was innuendo to start then the plotline changed tact only to swing back in with a vengeance.
Everything came together with action, fear and suspense. I was holding my breath for what seemed like forever And
At the end, I just fell for Davis.
What Sadie endured even when it was for the right motive, was gut wrenching.

All in all, the book revolved around broken souls finding enduring love with past characters making it comforting and police crisis action giving me the jittery nerves. I nearly thought I wasn't going to find out what the catalyst was, but I wasn't disappointed.
Maxine mitchell, what a narrator and my 1 click go to. Her male voice is brilliant and Teddy Hamilton, I've listened to many, many times before, but this performance, for me, was one of the best.

I skipped through this one – barely. Dangerous Games started with promise but quickly got bogged down by melodramatic monologues, long-winded emotional scenes, and entire chapters of drawn-out introspection. It felt like every conversation was stretched out into a dramatic soliloquy - who talks like that. At a certain point, I found myself skimming just to get through it.

Reese comes on strong, and while I usually don’t mind an intense alpha male, the constant declarations, possessiveness, and emotional outpourings were too much, too soon. The chemistry between the leads got buried under all the talking.

The steam was also over-the-top in a way that took me out of it. Lines like “I wanted to drown in her” made me cringe more than swoon. And the way her physical reactions were written – it was like a switch was flipped and suddenly it was Niagara Falls.

There were moments where I saw what the story was aiming for – vulnerability, connection, found family – but it was all wrapped in so much overwriting that it didn’t land. I finished it, but mostly out of stubbornness. On to the next one, which is already feeling like a better balance.

My Rating Scale for Reviews

⭐ 1 – Not for Me: Struggled to finish or didn’t finish. The writing, characters, pacing, or narration (if audiobook) really didn’t work for me.
⭐ 2 – Disappointing: Had some good elements (world-building, action, romance, etc.), but too many issues kept me from fully enjoying it. Either the character choices, writing, or narration pulled me out of the story too much.
⭐ 3 – Good / Solid: A normal, enjoyable read. Glad I read it, and it was solid overall, but nothing particularly standout. Might have had some things I didn’t love, but I still had a good time with it.
⭐ 3.5 – Better Than Good: A strong read with clear standout moments – whether in character dynamics, world-building, or writing. Maybe not a full favorite, but it left a positive impression and I’d recommend it to the right reader.
⭐ 4 – Amazing: A strong read with very little wrong, but just didn’t quite hit that rare, reread-worthy 5. Still an excellent book I’d easily recommend.
⭐ 5 – Flawless / Unforgettable: One of my absolute favorites. A book I’d reread and still love just as much. Perfect blend of storytelling, characters, romance, and action. Sticks with me long after I finish. I don’t give this rating often!

favourite of series so far

This series is a winner throughout so far. We have the story with Rhodes who we fell in love with in Gemini, then River (*swoon*) who we met (alongside his brothers Echo and Phoenix - whose names I cannot type without giving myself heart palpitations…) in Triple Canopy and now the first of the new bunch it’s Reece’s turn.

Wow, just wow. Given the hints in the last 2 books, especially the cold coffee shower mention, this was going to be sparky, set the room alight stuff but it just went to another level….I missed having a proper book because fanning your face with a kindle just isn’t the same!!!!!

Sadie is such a deep, empathetic and loving individual who has all the time in the world for everyone else and yet has carried this burden for so long - partly embarrassment, partly pride and a good dose of not wanting to be a burden too - that she can’t breathe for the stress and pressure of it all. I loved how she had built her shop up herself and through no fault of her own it was at risk and she was going balls to the wall to do everything in her power to save it.
Reece was a man who lied to himself repeatedly. He denied his feelings for Sadie for so long, even after they *ahem* that first time (back to the fanning of faces - I’m definitely accidentally leaving my kindle open on my husbands pillow at that scene…) he kept pushing back, despite doing all the chasing, all the pushing and all the alpha male stuff a man falling in love does.

I loved them together, the instinctual push and pull of the relationship and watching them learn about each other. The give and take between them whilst they found a compromised ground of feeling each other was safe and getting what they needed emotionally was just “sigh.

I loved hearing more about Wilson, and I’ve definitely sat up and taken notice of all his baggage…that will be an epic book right there but in the meantime Sloane and Asher are up and this sounds fun in a sex swing, whips and chains kind of way (hahahaha)

The continued MC storyline is also intriguing and I’m not sure where they will reach another peak or resolve but it’s building nicely in the background there too.

This is book 3 in the Takeback series and while it could be read as a stand alone, I recommend reading the previous books before this one as you see how these two meet and everything starts. In this one we get Sadie and Reese's story! Reese has sworn off women after going through what he went through with his ex-wife. He is jaded about women, and fully admits that he will never look for a relationship again. And no matter how attracted he is to Sadie, he knows that she is off limits to him because he knows she deserves more than one night. Sadie has made a vow to herself to never trust another man, not after what the last one has done to her. After he cleaned out her bank account, she is left on the verge of losing her bakery. And no matter that Reese has learned of her difficulties, she refuses to accept his help or trust him not to want something more. But when he refuses to take no for an answer, they both have to confront their issues and decide if they will let the past control their future.

I am always excited for a new Riley Edwards book, and this one was no different! I loved everything about how these two end up together. From how Reese has to realize just how much space in his head he gave to his ex, to him realizing that he is not only attracted to Sadie but truly loves her. And knows she is different from his ex! Sadie is feisty and funny but so super strong in ways that I wasn't expecting. I loved everything about her! I loved how the story played out and how their relationship truly came together but also showed that his team has his back along with the people they consider family. My only drawback, I know that there is a bigger story going with the MC. I really do, and I know there will be resolution when it comes to them at some point later on. I just wish there had been some sort of resolution with her brother. I hope he gets what is coming to him at some point! Other than that, I loved absolutely all of it!

Dangerous Games by Riley Edwards is small-town, big found-family romance at its best! The way this team rallies for and connects with each other’s significant others is heart-melting. Riley drops some tough love truth bombs that hit close to home and made my heart squeeze. I was on the verge of tears so many times in this wild ride, I lost count. Mrs. Simpson reminded me of my grandmother even more in this book, I love her so much! Duped by a con artist who cleared out her savings, Sadie is struggling to keep her bakery, Treats. Reese Turmel is the quintessential protector, instinctively stepping in to help Sadie at every turn. When the fiercely independent, strong-willed Sadie and the mild-mannered, yet domineering Reese come head-to-head, the chemistry is explosive. I knew Sadie’s HEA would be worth the wait since she was first introduced and it would take a confident, patient, smoldery guy to win her heart. Sorry River and Letty, Dangerous Games is my new favorite book in the Takeback series. Riley Edwards continues to outdo herself in this incredible Takeback series; Dangerous Games is an outstanding blend of suspense, heart, healing, and swoony romance.

I loved the pairing of Maxine Mitchell and Teddy Hamilton for the narration of Sadie and Reese. Maxine and Teddy’s character choices, tone, and pacing complemented each other perfectly to bring Riley’s heartfelt, gritty, alluring love story off the page. Maxine’s emotionally-charged performance of the spirited, resilient, feisty Sadie was outstanding. Teddy’s portrayal of the cool-headed, domineering, seductive smartass, Reese was swoon-worthy. I am loving the takeback series and i loved every second of this fun, fast-paced, and flirty audiobook! If you’re looking for a pulse-pounding, spicy, heartwarming romantic suspense, with plenty of eargasms, snag Dangerous Games today!

What can I say about such a phenomenal book apart from tell you to read it. I shouldn't be surprised though, I simply adore Riley Edwards' books and time after time she delivers - suspense, so much emotion, humour, amazing characters and plenty of combustible heat! Definitely my favourite in the series so far.
The chemistry between Reese and Sadie has been simmering for months and when it finally explodes - wow! Except Reese has sworn off relationships after his ex-wife gutted him and Sadie's last relationship destroyed her business and trust. I absolutely love Sadie, as does pretty much every other character, you just can't not. Absolutely determined not to be a burden to either her family or friends Sadie is desperate to climb out of the trouble she is in and stubbornly refuses to ask for or accept any help in saving her business. Reese is equally stubborn and realising Sadie is it for him, he is all-in and is determined to both help her and keep her in his life. Reese and Sadie were absolutely made for each other and watching their relationship unfold was a delight of laughter, tears and everything in-between, both strong characters, they learn to compromise, they know each other without needing words.
The plot was excellent fast paced with plenty of suspense that keeps you gripped to the very end and the climax is intense and packs a hefty emotional punch! This is truly a great series and I just want more, so thank you Riley Edwards, I can't wait.
I received an arc from the author and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

Sadie and Reese. Sadie owns the bakery down from Smutties, Lettie’s bookstore and all the guys love her baked goods. She's a great baker. Reese loves to push her buttons. Sadie’s going through some hard times thanks to her ex boyfriend stealing all of her money. Plus her no good brother thinks she's his personal loan officer. Sadie is trying very hard to come up with the money on her own and doesn't want to be a burden and ask her friends for help. Her brother is always asking her parents or her for money, she thinks she shouldn't. Reese overhears a conversation and tries to help by leaving nice tips, but Sadie won’t let him get by with it.
All the guys at Takeback love her treats and can't stand the thought of her struggling. Her MC wannale brother starts to blow smoke and Reese puts him in his place and tells him he will pay her back the money he has borrowed. This leads to Sadie and Reese having a big argument where their chemistry gets the better of them. Sadie finally comes clean with the guys and her friends about her troubles. Her biggest supporter besides Reese ends up being Mrs. S. Mrs S is the gram everyone needs. She has no filter but speaks wonderful words of wisdom and keeps all the guys and gals on their toes. Reese and Sadie have a few obstacles to overcome but with the Takeback guys running the show and Sadie's besties at her side she learns that she can do anything and learns that it is ok to accept help. It doesn't make you seem weak and having a circle is important.
