When an Army vet who’s looking for love begins falling for the date planner of the reality dating program he's set to star on, the show’s producers trick the jaded staffer into posing as a contestant for one night to save the show’s tarnished reputation. To keep her job, she needs this season’s star to find love. He needs her to give him her heart to get his happy ending. What can go wrong when she gets a rose? Then another?
Tracy Brody has written a series of single-title romances featuring the Bad Karma Special Ops team whose love lives are as dangerous as their missions. A SHOT WORTH TAKING and IN THE WRONG SIGHTS won the Golden Heart® for romantic suspense in 2015 and 2016. DEADLY AIM was a four-time finalist in the Golden Heart.
She is now working on a romantic comedy series featuring Army heroes and hopes to make you laugh and cry and fall in love with her characters.
She has a background in banking, retired to become a domestic engineer, and aims to supplement her husband’s retirement using her overactive imagination. Tracy began writing spec movie and TV scripts, however, when two friends gave her the same feedback on a script, saying that they’d love to see it as a book, she didn’t need to be hit over the head with a literal 2” x 4” to get the message. She joined RWA® and developed her craft and is still working on using commas correctly
Tracy and her husband live in North Carolina. She’s the proud mother of a daughter and son and now a mother-in-law. She invokes her sense of humor while volunteering at the USO. You may spot her dancing in the grocery story aisles or talking to herself as she plots books and scenes while walking in her neighborhood, the park, or at the beach on retreats with friends.
Former soldier Nate Crenshaw wants two things out of life now that he’s done with his stint in the Army—to start a construction business and to find a wife. Being the bachelor sought after by twenty-five women on “Say Yes to the Rose” could solve both those problems, but when the producers approach him, Nate’s fear of feminine tears generates an automatic no. That is, until the sisters who conditioned him to fear weeping women manipulate him into agreeing. Cecilia “CJ” Ryan arranges the exotic dates for “Say Yes to the Rose” but her dream is to become a screenwriter. After being relegated to the friend zone by every guy she’s ever liked, she has come to terms with the fact that her life will revolve around her career, rather than a relationship. As she and Nate work together via Zoom calls and emails to plan the season’s dates, she can already see it happening again—a totally doable guy who thinks she’d make a great pal. After the producers ask her to step in at the last minute for one of the contestants, it comes as a complete shock at the end of the episode when Nate hands her a rose, asking her to stay another week. She quickly realizes it’s because he’s counting on her to give him the skinny on the women competing to become his bride, like a good friend would do. It is beyond her comprehension that he might have kept her around because he’s falling in love with her, and the show’s producers do everything in their power to make sure that light bulb doesn’t switch on. If you’re a fan of reality shows like “The Bachelor,” or just a fan of fun romance that revolves around two very likable characters shooting for their happy-ever-after, I heartily recommend this book. I received a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
Looking for a fast, fun, feel-good, romp to kick off your 2022 romance reading? Have I got a book for you! Tracy Brody, one of my go-to authors for intense, action-packed, military romantic suspense novels shows off a different side of her creativity with this gem of a story that kept me grinning, and frequently laughing out loud, from beginning to end.
Nate never set out to be the Bachelor - he has his meddling sisters to thank for that - but the fact is, he really wants to find love and the money the show offers him will allow him to start his own business. He's one of the good ones: honorable, kind, there for the right reasons...and falling for someone who is not one of the women cast on the show for him to date.
After years of working behind the scenes, CJ a/k/a Cecilia finally has her shot at achieving her dream of becoming a screenwriter. All she has to do is make sure this season of the reality show she works on goes smoothly and Nate finds the woman of his dreams. That woman was never supposed to be her!
Oh my gosh, I loved these two so much! Brody created two characters I couldn't help but cheer for. They're fun, relatable, good people with layers that give them depth, thrown into a situation somewhat out of their control that offers up a plethora of opportunities for humor, growth, and emotional awakening. I couldn't get enough of them.
If you're a fan of The Bachelor reality television show (I admit it, I'm addicted), you already know that they're a fertile playground for drama, humor, angst, and tears - so many tears - as contestants vie for one-on-one time with that season's bachelor, attempt to sabotage group dates, shamelessly hog camera time, and, oh yeah, hope to find their forever love. Brody incorporates all of that and more into her fictional reality series with impeccable comedic timing, over-the-top secondary characters, heart-tugging emotion, razor-sharp wit, sigh-worthy declarations, awkward situations, and did I mention humor? So delicious. So addictive. So much fun.
Whether you're a fan of The Bachelor/Bachelorette franchise or not, Tracy Brody's Faking it with the Bachelor is a fast, fun, feel-good ride worth taking. I highly recommend it.
4.5 Stars ARC received for fair and unbiased review
I have loved Tracy's Karma series and had no worries tying out her romantic comedy and I have to tell you she hit it out of the park There isn't the usual suspense and drama that she has in her books but she more than compensate with the laugh out loud moments at the actions of some of the contestants you will need a cheat sheet to keep all these crazy woman sorted but don't worry Tracy has you covered
Retired military man Nate Crenshaw may not have been the last man standing when he went on “Say Yes to the Rose” after all his sisters hated the bride on sight but now he has been offered to be the bachelor on the next series He decides not to do it after all he wouldn't be able to stand the tears from the eliminated contestants but once again his sisters manipulate him and the money he would be paid would help him set up his construction business for the next stage of his life so he ends up agreeing. This puts him in contact with Cecilia “CJ” Ryan the woman that will be organising all of his dates Problems arise when he starts to have feelings for CJ he convinces the producer to make her be part of the show CVJ thinks she will be eliminated the first night but Nate keeps handing her a rose Will she be the last one standing and can they have a future together You will have to read to see.
If you really like the show The Bachelor, you may enjoy Faking It with the Bachelor. For me, it did not work because there were too many characters throughout the storyline, unnecessary Christian references, microaggressions, and stereotype casting for many of the characters.
I initially rated this 3.5 stars, which would be rounded to 4 stars but waiting to review, I have to drop it down to 3 stars.

I totally love this book. Especially because it didn't have the typical "YOU LIED TO ME I HATE YOU BUT LOVE YOU LEAVE ME ALONE" stuff. Nate and CJ feel like such real characters and the written chemistry between the two makes me fall in love with the story so much more. I love that CJ steels her will and goes to fight for the man she loves. Her character is smart, fun, passionate, loveable and innocent. She's truly a well written character! OH AND CAPTAIN CRENSHAW. NATE. SIR. The lengths this man would go to be with CJ. I do appreciate his efforts to be truthful to CJ when able. Wish this man was real - I wanna see him on TV lolol

THE BACHELOR meets MISS CONGENIALITY: When an Army vet who’s looking for love begins falling for the date planner of the reality dating program he's set to star on, the show’s producers trick the jaded staffer into posing as a contestant for one night to save the show’s tarnished reputation. I enjoyed this story front to back and hated putting it down when I didn’t have time to read. It’s funny, lovely characters, unexpected events and a happy ending you’ll love. I laughed out loud and was engaged with the story that moved at a wonderful pace that kept me going long after I should have put the book down to go to bed. LOL. I hope you’ll read and enjoy it as much as I did.
I really don’t like reality shows, but somehow I actually loved this book, which takes place within one! It’s a fantastic start to this series, and I can’t wait to see Nate’s friends get their own HEA!
This book was super awesome. I was addicted by the first page. Nate is the perfect male lead. He was kind, caring and strong. Cecilia aka CJ is the sweet girl next door type of female lead. I absolutely loved The Princess Bride reference. I absolutely recommend this book.
When the author takes the time to make a contestant list and warns the readers that meeting them is going to be a bit overwhelming, that's when you know for sure to run. You should never dump that kind of information on a reader unless it is relevant. Sure, these women are all contestants, but other than being a pretty face lined up, what do they individually bring to the table/story? Nothing. As a reader, I had the aggravation of meeting a whole bunch of women who had no purpose in this story other than being a body the MC Nate gets to choose from.
Tracy Brody has written a 5-star book. This is the story of Cecilia (CJ) and Nate. Nate has been offered the lead for the TV show Say Yes To The Rose. It is a TV show where there is a bachelor and twenty-five women and he picks one to marry. Nate agreed to do the show and starts talking to CJ about different things. He starts to have feelings for CJ. When he gets upset over something, she is the one that calms him down. Before the show starts filming, Nate wants to back out because of his feelings for her. He calls Parks and talks to him about what is going on. Nate wants CJ brought on the show as a contestant and Parks said he would check into it with Bryson and see what they could come up with. CJ is asked to be one of the women on the first night and they give her a reason for one of the women getting arrested over drugs. She was supposed to not get a rose on the first night but she does. Things don't go the way CJ wants them to go. Every time she expects to get to go home, Nate gives her a rose. The story Nate gives her is to keep an eye on the different women. She gives him information on the different women and the ones she thinks would be a match for him. She never puts herself in the running. This goes on and on and every time it is time for a rose, she is the last one to get it. Nate is getting worried that CJ doesn't feel the same way about him. There are a few women on the show who have decided that they are the ones who Nate is going to pick and so they try to steal time with him from the other women. It is getting harder for CJ to sit and listen to the other women come in from their dates with Nate since she told him after the first time he gave her a rose that she wouldn't be going on a one-on-one date. There are just three women left and she is one of them. She talks to Bryson and tells him that she quits and they can run it any way they wanted. This is the time where Nate is to meet each woman's family. Cj plans something that she knows he wanted to do but the show wouldn't allow it for them. She could do it for him. When Nate gets to where CJ had told him to meet her, all he gets is a note saying she is being held hostage and he needs to come and save her. He sees some kids and asked if they saw CJ. He ends up getting them to help find her. After she is found, he is told that they were some of her family. They then go on to the next part of the date. She has done something special for him and when he finds out what it is, he is shocked. After they are done with his surprise, they go to her parent's house so he can meet them and the rest of her family. Nate enjoys his time with her family and the talk with her mother. After he leaves, she has a long talk with her mom, and she decides that she loves Nate and she is going to go all in. When she leaves her parent's home and goes to the airport, she is not going to where she had planned for. Something has happened and the location had to be changed. She knew nothing about the change. She almost didn't get on the plane to go to the next location. When she gets to the location, she is told the reason for the change. This is when she tells Bryson that she is going all-in for Nate and she is quitting and he could use her quit date any way he wanted. On the day of the different dates with the women, Nate is not happy. His handler wants to change the order of the dates and he is not having it. The first date is to be with CJ and he is set on it being done just the way he wants it. Will things go the way Nate wants them to with CJ? Will she let him know how she feels about him? This was a wonderful book and I would recommend it to anyone.

A new author to me and a new experience looking behind the scenes of dating reality shows!
A jaded production date planner for the show Say Yes to the Rose, CJ Ryan aka Cecilia lost her believe in love after being friend zoned by countless crushes!
An army veteran Nate Crenshaw who wants to open his own construction company and settle down with his ideal woman enters the show as the lead, as a result of a lost bet with his sisters.
After consulting and discussing the various dates for the show with CJ he realises she is his ideal woman and they have a strong connection!
CJ likes talking to the sweet gorgeous lead but knows she must stay professional as he will be going on dates with various gorgeous women who she cannot compete with!
Nate cannot get the gorgeous date planner out of his head and decides on arranging with the producers to get her on the show as a contestant with the mindset of her helping him weed out the false pretenders and becoming a screenwriter after the show…..
Lots of entanglements and jealousy ensues with Nate being the sweet nice guy he is and the gorgeous fighting for his attention contestants!
Will CJ realize she is not in the friend zone with Nate? Will Nate tell her the truth of why she really is on the show?
A nice sweet, funny page turner with real life characters I can definitely recommend!

I personally am not a fan of the actual bachelor and bachelorette shows but this book was amazing. The cover art first is amazing. I was hooked from the beginning. Nate Creshaw was on a previous season of Say Yes to the Rose when Sienna didn't choose him, so when the show decided to have Nate be the next lead for the upcoming season he was adamant he didn't want to do it. However, Nate wanted to find love, get married and start a family. Nate wanted to start his construction business, however the money he did have some from the 8 years in the military wasn't going to be enough. By doing the show, he would get the money and the possibility of finding his wife. Nate has two sisters Kathy and Melanie. Kathy really wanting Nate to do the show. Melanie the more levelheaded of the two said to Nate what do you have to loss and what do you have to gain? Fast Forward some Nate agrees to doing the show, however he starts to have feeling for CJ. She works for the show and plans all the dates. Nate knew he was in trouble because there was no way he would be able to commit to the other 25 women without seeing if there was any more spark to the feelings he had for CJ. Nate got the producers to get CJ on the show. I am not going to spill all the amazing crazy up and down emotions you are going to feel in the book but wow, I couldn't stop reading. There is a lot of amazing things that happen in this book, i recommend you get the book and read it.
Contemporary Romantic comedy Former soldier The show's date planner "Reality" TV
Faking It With The Bachelor is the first book in Faking It series. It is a fast-paced, fun, feel-good, and charming novel. The characters are complex, and the plot is strong enough to hold the reader's attention.. Faking It With The Bachelor is a delightful and entertaining romantic comedy, making it a quirky and engaging read.
In a twist typical of reality dating shows, an Army veteran searching for love develops feelings for the show's date planner. To enhance the show's image, the producers persuade the skeptical planner to pretend to be a contestant for one night. She must help the veteran find love to keep her job, while he needs her affection for his happy ending. Complications arise when she begins receiving roses. Former soldier Nate Crenshaw wants to start his own construction business but is being manipulated by his sisters into agreeing to become a bachelor for “Say Yes to the Rose.” Cecilia “CJ” Ryan arranges the exotic dates for “Say Yes to the Rose,” but she has always dreamed of becoming a screenwriter. All she has to do is ensure that this season runs smoothly and help Nate find the woman of his dreams. The build up is beautifully crafted. Both are complex and relatable characters that the reader can't help but fall for and root for their HEA. Despite their strong chemistry and unique connection, they must confront challenges and obstacles.
I haven't always watched the Bachelor/ette franchise, but sometimes go through phases when I watch it regularly. I haven't been watching recently, and this book filled that hole for me. I think this is the third book I've read recently that has this sort of framing and I enjoyed this one just as much as the others.
I loved the leading lady in this. Just a super sweet person and good to the core. You really learn about her as the book progresses and she's definitely a friend I would love to have.
The leading man is a doll. Also super sweet and good to the core. He never seemed like a jerk and was likable from the start.
For being in the reality dating world, the drama wasn't super over the top. Definitely some things are stereotypical in these types of shows, but it was pretty entertaining. I liked that CJ was trying to help avoid some of the things that are often the worst on these shows.
The ending was definitely my favorite bit. I could see it all playing out in my head. It was *chefs kiss* perfect, even down to the reunion chapter (because of course there's a reunion special)! Definitely worth the read. Easy, fun, characters you want to root for, however, there is no open bedroom/sexy time (just to note in case that's super important to you, but there's info on a bonus chapter of something on the authors site I believe).
Fans of the TV show The Bachelor will love this romantic pairing! Nate was a fan favorite of a previous “Say Yes to the Rose” season. He wanted to find love and have a family but last season didn’t work out. Now he is the lead of the show!
CJ, or Cecilia, first talks to Nate as she is helping prepare for the show's filming. But he wants to get to know her more and with the producer’s help, tricks her into joining the cast of the show to meet her. That is a story in itself but it felt natural how it kept going and each week she got a rose. Each of the contestants are mentioned and get a part of the story. Honestly, 25 women on the show was a lot to keep track of! The author provided a bingo card to print to help keep everyone straight, which was VERY beneficial, and she was great at differentiating the women as they go through the weeks of filming, activities and rose ceremonies to narrow the women down.
I would have liked Nate to be honest earlier in the story, but there were reasons that didn’t happen until later. The main characters only have short meets but their relationship is strengthened throughout the book in a slow burn style romance. The book keeps the door closed during the penthouse sexy times, but there is a link to open the door and enjoy their night together. The author has a great writing style and I’d love to read more from her.
CJ is a staffer planning dates for a Bachelor type reality show. She videochats with Nate, the lead on the next season, and Nate wants to drop out because he developed feelings for CJ. The producers agree to invite CJ to participate on the show so Nate gets a chance to snap out of it. CJ expects to be among the first to go home but Nate keeps giving her roses.
The reality show format makes for limited chances to interact and somebody always interrupts whenever one of them is about to say something meaningful so that restricts the feels but it was a fun story that I enjoyed reading. Most of the other female contestants were defined by just one personality trait or distinguishing characteristic but that was probably all the reader could handle.
Some plot threads were set up but not really followed upon properly. Nate's friends were invited to give him insights and made a bet about the contestants that was supposed to be and I guess we know who won but I'd have liked to know more about what they said. And Nate put some papers in the safe that he was going to look at later but unless I missed something we never found out what he found.
Steam level: kissing on the pages but there is a three minute extra scene that you can download separately that implies more.

His sisters volunteered Nate Crenshaw to appear on “Say Yes to the Rose”, but he was not chosen as the winner. Now he has a chance to be the bachelor choosing a bride and the offer is tempting. He is a bit uncomfortable with the premise, but the amount they will pay him would go a long way towards the start up of his construction business…and he really would love to find “the one”. He felt more comfortable after talking with CJ Ryan, the date planner for the show. Through the process, she is able to keep him calm and he convinces the show to have her step in as a replacement contestant. A chance to get to know her and for her to know him. As she helps to steer Nate to a possible mate, will her feelings for him get in the way? I enjoyed the clever dialog and amusing situations between CJ and the contestants while Nate’s sisters and buddies added a “family” feel to this most enjoyable romantic comedy! I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation from the author. (by paytonpuppy)
Yikes. Where to start? I wanted to like this book. I like a romance. I watched decades of the Bachelor. The premise was promising. But the subterfuge of CJ not knowing Nate’s true intentions went on WAY too long. Like 80% through the book. They said like 6 words to each other and suddenly were in love? And out of nowhere, CJ is looking for signs from God, follows a youth group to Costa Rica, and makes fun of COVID protocols and quarantines in Scotland, but is willing to go to a developing country with less stringent protocols after a known exposure. There was just so much conservative content shoved into the end of the book that didn’t need to be there. I don’t know that I can make myself read the last 20 pages. Ugh. I’m so disappointed. #jesusjuke

This story fun is about Nate and Cecilia. He has done his time in the military and now he wants to start a construction company and find his forever one. He was on the realty show “Say Yes to the Rose”, and much to the happiness of his sisters, her was not chosen by the bride. Instead he gets the be the bachelor of his own "Say Yes to the Rose" show. After much thought and encouragement from his sisters he agrees. Then he meets CJ (Cecilia), who is in charge of arranging his dates. Something happens and she ends up being one of the contestants. This is a good and nicely developed story. I love the characters and the plot is very interesting.
This is an entertaining book, a bit long-ish but the story moves right along. I'm not a fan of The Bachelor show, but loved this book just the same. I had previously read the romantic suspense series from the author; she made the changeover to a romcom, and did it well! With interesting characters throughout, CJ and Nate have incredible chemistry. CJ is so focused on doing her job that she doesn't realize just how enamored Nate is of her. And his military background has him trying to do the honorable thing by backing out of the show. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a take on the show "The Bachelor." Nate has been asked to do the TV show "Say Yes To The Rose" where the bachelor picks one woman out of 25. Nate finds that after talking to CJ before the show even starts that he really likes her. CJ is only on the show to help guide Nate to the right woman. She ends up getting the first rose. This story starts out slowly but soon gabs you and you can't put the book down. Love the characters and how the story moves along. Will they end up getting a HEA? Highly recommend. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
So I stopped watching bachelor shows as started finding them cringey but as I love this authors other books I gave it a go and really enjoyed it as we not only get a raft of characters to love or hate but also get to see behind the scenes. CJ and Nate are great together and you see them falling for each other while she is helping him get prepared for the show and I cracked up with how things turned out and her having to be on the show and all that happens between the ladies. You get plenty of laughs, fun situations, a few awkward moments as well as attraction that turns into love leaving you with a HEA and a fascination of what really happens on those shows!
3.5 ⭐️ because they have very little communication for 70% of the book. It’s kind falling from afar. CJ is smart, considerate, and loyal. Nate is thoughtful, adventurous, and bold- ready to find love and start a new business. So what’s a guy to do but let his sisters bully him into a spot on Say Yes to the Rose 😘 An undercover contestant and the guy everyone wants. If you’re picky, want realism & high angst, this is probably not your deal. It’s fun, quirky & just a little swoony. Basically 2 big hearted people who find each other, don’t screw up. I do wish we knew who the guys picked
What a great story. It was like a live story of The Bachelor but put you there in the mist of the drama. Nate was so great and down to earth that is was no wonder that he was voted the bachelor on “Say Yes to the Rose”. CJ worked for the show having the goal to be a screenwriter. As she ends up as one of the girls with the understanding it was for one week, watch what happens when things don’t go as planned. Totally enjoyed the story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Basically a book based on a season of The Bachelor. Which I don’t watch, but the hook of a writer on the show being roped into being one of the contestants was interesting. It is set up like a slow burn, but you felt no heat. In places it was more about the “show” than Nate and Cecelia, both alone are sweet nice characters and the two together did not give great chemistry. The one spicy scene was hotlinked to another site (why?) and was very short and stilted- it didn’t seem like the author was comfortable writing these type of scenes.
If you’ve ever watched an episode of The Batchelor then you have a pretty good idea how this story will play out. There is little chemistry between the leads, so the romance is very forced. What killed the book for me were a few occasions where author Tracy Brody directly talks to the reader to explain her thoughts while writing a scene or explain a detail. There’s absolutely no reason for her to talk to us and it completely kills immersion into the story. Those kind of asides are supposed to be in the Author’s notes, not the book itself.
The spin on the bachelor was a fun read to see the people on the other side find love. Very clean and very PG rated, so if you are looking for hot and steamy this isn’t it. It was a nice surprise and once I was almost to the end I realized there wasn’t one love scene which was unexpected and nice. I’m all for the hot and heavy scenes don’t get me wrong but sometimes they are way over the top. Nicely written and light hearted. I could have used some drama though.
