This story gave me the creeps. Which is great.

The Aberration is my first Warhammer Horror read. The style really caught my eye. Jake opens pretty calmly, clearly, no tricks. But as the story goes on, its style begins reflecting Marianne's psychological state. This is absolutely unnerving, by the way.

5/5 for the slow descent into, well, horror. Highly recommend if you're looking for something to read on a wintry night, while strolling through a dark forest, in Shyish, the Realm of Death.

Once upon a time, there was a girl walking alone in the forest ar night...

A fairy tale as told by the denizens of the Realm of Death, evocative, sombre, melancholic. I really like how Jake Ozga commits himself in his stories to strangeness, forgoing simple conclusions and established narrative patterns in favour of stories that blend reality, imagination and mania of his protagonists into tales that range from sad over disturbing to bittersweet.
