We saved her. Now we own her.

Mob twins Luca and Leo Borroni say I’d be dead without them.
That they spared my life.
And that I’m now in their debt.
My payment? I must play their game.
Their dirty, sexy, deviant game.
But games have winners and losers.
And we know who’ll win this one.
It won’t be me.
Because men like the Borronis always win.

Dirty Game is the first book in Mika Lane’s Anti-Hero Chronicles, and it has me curious to see what the rest of the series brings. Although it is not my favourite Mika Lane read, it is certainly one that had me hooked throughout.

A quick read, Dirty Game is a story that is easy to devour in a single sitting. With plenty packed into the story, things are constantly happening throughout this one. Once it starts, it does not let up, ensuring you will be unable to put it down.

As much as I enjoyed the speed of this one, I did want a wee bit more from it. I feel like the emotions between the characters happened a bit too quickly for my liking, and I prefer my mafia reads to be a bit darker. This is personal preference, though, and I’m certainly curious to see what comes next. After all, this one had a lot of unanswered questions and I’m eager to see them resolved in the future books.

Without a doubt, Dirty Game makes for a wonderful quick read. It hooks you, and you’ll be finished in no time, left wanting more.

Hmm

I had a few issues with this book. Story did not really do it for me. The guys didn't come off as mafia, more like rich surfer dudes with how they interacted, calling each other bro, and dude. The title makes it seem like it will be hot and intense but did not deliver. Not really dirty.

Dang my luck stinks

Second book in a row that just left me at a loss. So many unanswered questions and not really the ending I thought it should be. Lots of holes in the story. Definitely hot sex.

Echo caught the eyes of twins Luka and Leo when she first started working at the strip club they visited. She was a waitress but doing her best to help her sister out. When Luka sends her on an errand she comes back to find the strip club torn up and Luka protecting her. Luka moves her into his home with his brother and tells her they will be playing The Game. What is The Game and will Luka and Leo's plan be successful or put Echo in danger?

I don't want to give too much detail about how this story unfolds as I think it is better to read it. Fast paced sexy story that had me guessing. I wasn't sure how things would go but enjoyed every moment of the story. Looking forward to the next book.

I just finished binge reading The Anti-Hero Chronicles 1-3 and I am seriously impressed and super stoked for Foolish Dare coming May 15th because there’s an on-going ARC storyline in this series and I must find out the who/why/when immediately!! LOL

I went into Dirty Game thinking I would get a dark gritty mafia read but what I got was so much more. This story has mafiaelements, but it’s not really a Mafia Family story … I can’t say more on why I say that without giving away the plot #sorrynotsorry lol What I got was The Game instead, and that was gloriously delicious! Well thought out and developed with just enough mafia related elements/moments that it did not read as a #sexfest >>> which it was, gloriously so *fans self*

I really enjoyed the development of Echo, Leo and Luca. All three grew together and as individuals. Their story and The Game are way more than meets the eye. All three of them played well off each other and were developed so damn well throughout the story. I’m seriously in love with this author right now and I might just have to binge every book in her backlist very soon!

This may have elevated itself to a new favorite from Mika Lane.

Twin brothers Luka and Leo have been frequenting the Loaded Dice. A seedy strip club where the owner has managed to get on the wrong side of their uncle. It's time for him to pay the price but first the brothers have to send all the girls on their way. Luka has his eye on their waitress Echo, so there is a different fate they have planned for her.

Really having no choice, Echo moves into the Twin's home. She's still not sure where all this is heading or how serious her situation is.

Plenty of heat as Luka initialized the Game. However, there are those who aren't happy about Echo's place in their home.

A look from the mafia side of things gives this an interesting twist. I loved the feisty Echo and the way the relationship between her and Luka develops.

I can't wait to see what Mika has in mind for the next book.

Twins Luka and Leo frequent the strip club where Echo works as a waitress. She's trying to help her sister. She's also caught the twin's eye and they have plans for her. The strip club owner has gotten on the bad side of their uncle and they send all the women away but for Echo. A steamy, quick read.

Terrific Story & Audible Listen🎧 Intense, Twisted & Steamy!

Dirty Game: The Anti-Hero Chronicles
A Las Vegas Mafia Romance
By: Mika Lane
Narrated by: Laurie West

This is one twisted and intense story and I enjoyed every word of it. This is my first book by Mika Lane and it will not be my last. She is a gifted author, the storylines she created are interesting, they grabbed my attention right from the start and captivated straight to the end. The characters are complex and well developed. I adored Echo Duncan, her dedication to her sister and wanting a better life for her taking a waitressing job in a strip club in Vegas. She catches the eyes of the Boroni twins, Leo and Luca, mobsters in the Vegas syndicate. One night Luca sends her on an errand, she returns to devastation, her boss and others were killed. Luca whisks her away on the premise of her own protection. He sets her up in his home and hooks her up with everything she needs. She is unsure of her situation, Luca gains her trust and he explains all about the game and what he wants. Luca and Leo love their kink, each year one of them choose a girl to bring home for them to play with, they keep them for three months and send them on their way. This year it is Luca’s choice and he did not plan to but he started falling for Echo. I loved how everything plays out in this book, it is well plotted and there is never a dull moment with plenty of drama, some angst, twists, thrilling and suspenseful moments, heartfelt moments and some hot scening and romance. Mika Lane thank you for this great story.

I listened to the Audible edition, Laurie West is a terrific narrator and voice artist. She does a great job portraying the characters and bringing them to life, giving each their own voice and personality. She sets the perfect tone for the story and adds the right amount of dramatic flair which enhances the story another level. She is an entertaining storyteller and pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the great listen🎧

SERIES (BOOKS #1-3) REVIEW.

4.5 Stars!

Mika Lane was brand spanking new to me when I started up this series and y'all I have to say, she definitely has a way with her words and her anti-heroes.

The Anti-Hero Chronicles was a fast, steamy, intense, twisty, suspenseful, unputdownable mafia-ish series (super quick reads!!) that hooked me by the end of book one and before I knew it, I had devoured all three books- Dirty Game, Nasty Bet & Filthy Deal- in one afternoon and I have absolutely #noragrets.

Are you ready to play the game?
In book one- Dirty Game, we meet Echo and Luca. He has had his eye on her for a hot minute and in a moment everything changes and she becomes his, whether she wants to or not. But danger is lurking in the shadows, threatening everything around them. These two will heat you up to your core and guarantee to keep you on your toes until the very last word.

Are you ready to make a bet?
In book two- Nasty Bet, we meet Leo and Maray. When she makes a mistake in a desperate move, it is him that catches her doing it. And now, well he all but owns her. And what starts out as a game slowly burns into so much more. Chocked full of drama, some angst, and a underlying sizzle that'll have your kindle practically overheating... this is another in this series guaranteed to keep you hooked until the very last page.

Are you ready to make a deal?
In book three- Filthy Deal, we meet Nico and Rain. When her sister is kidnapped, it's him she turns to in a desperatemoment. She has to make a deal with him in order to get help and safety. And while danger is lurking in every corner around them, the fire and heat between them is starting to simmer, waiting to combust at any given moment. It's dangerous. It's sinful. You'll never see it coming These two are gonna have you on the edge of your seat from cover to cover and begging for more.

I definitely recommend this standalone series, all three books in this series so far and look forward to the next, Foolish Dare, that is releasing crazy soon!

The cover model doesn't even look like the MMC (Luca) as Luca has facial hair. lol

It really bothers me when there are inconsistencies in the stories.
For this one, in Luca's chapter he mentioned Echo coming over and when she notices her boss, Bob, walking towards them she hurries off to help another customer. Also, before this happened, his brother Leo had already walked off and went backstage.. Bob was coming over to ask where Leo was. But in the following chapter from Echo's point of view, the EXACT scene is repeated only this time, the events are completely different. Bob comes over and greets both Luca and Leo and some other small talk and when Luca asks for the favor some other shit that wasn't said before is now apparently happening. Apparently Bob even walks Echo to the door but in Luca's chapter she walked off and Bob asked about a game.

It is the small details that make the world building within these stories. It's what makes the stories feel more believable and real and makes you feel like you are in that story. So when they don't line up especially from chapter to chapter, it makes it hard for me to stay in the story. I have to go back and see if what I'm reading was maybe misread and when I'm right, and it doesn't match, It makes me dislike the story. It feels like the author didn't care enough to remember what they wrote and the editor wasn't even reading - just a did a spell check and said 'ITS GOOD'. Like did you even read the story yourself to see if it was working out? 'Cause it seems like the author just started typing and whatever came out in whatever order was published.

I'm saying this because the author did this thing through out the book where she would start the scene somewhere in the future like Echo walking to the sub shop. It starts out her walking and thinking about the 100$ bill. After a sentence or 2 Echo will reference some part of her day in the past like waking up and the whole thing starts over from the new timeline and goes step by step, event to event until we are finally back at where it started.... her walking down the street thinking about the 100$ bill. Then it continues on from there. I get referencing some event that happened earlier in the day, but if you were planning on telling us every single detail that happened from this earlier point, WHY start at some random point in the future, then jump allllll the way back to the past and start over only to come back to the same point you originally started at in the future, then finally continue on with the story.

This happened quite a bit.

A lot of the details in the story are missing too and don't match up to what is happening.
So in the car he takes her phone from her. Then when they get to the house and she is left alone in her room, she somehow has her phone and is calling her roommate. She leaves and goes shopping in high end stores with no money. There are other small things too. Like when she hid in the attic in her room, she all of a sudden was at her house packing up her shit and leaving. The details that are provided are just... idk. I can't even begin to describe how I feel about this book.

It shows a lot of chapters, but they are really short. It start's off with Luca's POV but then stays with Echo for the lonngest time.

Now for some shit in the story that I was like.. WTF.

Her sister. IDK what the fuck is up with her sister. Echo is sending her money to care for her because their mom is some fuck up junkie who leaves her wheelchair bound sister in the house alone for unknown amounts of time with no food or any type of care. So Echo apparently sent her sister Dimi a credit card to use to get food and stuff and the mom finds it and takes it. The sister doesn't even have the decency to call Echo to tell her 'Hey mom just found the card you need to cancel it' as soon as it happens. She waits until Echo calls her and brings up sending money for her to be like 'oh yeah btw this happened soo you may need to work on that'
like what kind of ungrateful little shit is she? She said 'I meant to call and tell you' and yet Echo STILL sends more money. Also Dimi is refusing to leave and get a better life with her sister. But when Echo mentions returning home later in the book, Dimi is like 'NO you did it you actually got out' ... like you can get out too.. you are choosing to use your sister. Because that is what is happening Dimi is abusing Echo's love for her.

When Luca brought up 'the game' to Echo. It was really fucking cheesy. He was like 'I saved you so you owe me. you have to live with me and my brother and play the game for 3 months' like ... you serious? I was hoping it was meant to be funny cause I laughed. But nope. it's not a rom com.
I don't get how its a game. Why can't it just be a kink? Why couldn't he just tell her she wasn't safe and to come stay with him he will care for her and then come on to her see if she is down to a 3some. ugh

Speaking of the "spice" in this. The first time they fuck... he gets his dick half way in and she starts to play with her boobs kay? This dude thrusts all the way home which makes her orgasm right? This man says 'omg i'm coming' like WTF?!?! He didn't even last long enough to screw her!!!!! he literally thrusts home and is coming!!!!!! Not only would I be severely disappointed but all the sex scenes are like this. They are 2 or 3 sentences long of just undress, sexual organ is some hole, coming - best sex ever. ....... No one likes a 3 second man.
even if its fictional. Where is the heat? Where is the thrusts? Where is anything that comes with sex???? Have you ever had sex??

Now the spanking.
I absolutely DID NOT like this scene. and I love spanking in my books. This spanking was NOT okay.
So they say she broke the rules which THEY NEVER TOLD HER ANY RULES. So how could she break rules she wasn't given??? Not to mention after all this unfolds Luca says something about what she did not even being a big deal, she was just out with her roommate. So what he did to her was literally just because he felt like it. She begged him to stop and he kept going. He HURT her. Leo got off on it. THEN he didn't even take care of her after. NO AFTER CARE what so ever. Just sent her to her room and locked her in it. Told her to knock if she needs something. like What the actual fuck?

The cheesiest thing (okay maybe not the cheesiest because there were plenty of ' omg this is so dumb' moments) or maybe the cringiest thing??? was when we find out WHY their uncle Sal was so insistent on getting rid of HER. How he knew she was there? We don't know. But we do find out why he was obsessed with them letting her go.... because he was a big baby and claimed he saw her first even though she had never talked to him and had no idea who he was. But HE wanted her So he took her.

This whole book was just ... I don't even know.

I listened to this on audiobook.

So this has been my first venture into a Mika Lane book, but if this book is anything to go by, it certainly won't be my last.

Dirty Game is the first book in the Anti-Hero Chronicles and todate the series consists of four books in total.

When it comes to reading books from the Erotica genre, it is an absolute must that there be a storyline and this book Dirty Game certainly hit the spot there, as not only was there hot sex scenes there was plenty of romance, suspense and mafia mob related action scenes to make for a very entertaining story from start to finish.

I actaully enjoyed this story a lot more that I thought I would, it was brilliantly written and had my attention right from the first chapter.

I'm pretty sure I wasn't the only girl wishing to have been in Echo's shoes, to be wanted by both Luca and Leo, the two hot good-looking  twins, to be protected and lavished with amazing gifts and taken to amazing places, to live with them for three months. What's not to love about that,  although I'd totally skip the being kidnapped by Sal part for sure.

So bottom line, this book was pure indulgence and escapism from the reality of life at it's best.   I'm already looking forward to more books by this outstanding author Mika Lane.

Have you ever been to Vegas? This book is just how I can see it happening in that pressure cooker of a city! Echo Duncan is trying to make ends meet and put some money away to bring her sister to live with her. Working in a strip club, she makes more than the average waitress. But one day when sent on an errand, she returns to work finding nothing but devastation and a debt to pay to her bosses, Luca and Leo for saving her life. Let the Dirty Game begin! This story is fun and steamy, with some action packed suspense to boot! Mika Lane crafts a story of deceit, power and greed with a side of love and passion. Once started, I could not get enough! It's fast and furious and a blast to listen to!

Laurie West is fantastic! I love her as a narrator and she brought this story to life. She has such a great catalog of voices and she finds the best ones to suit the characters. Easy to distinguish, the twins each held that alpha male tone and Echo was a strong, independent woman, all easily heard in the inflections of West's voices. It's a great listen.

OMG...Wow, just Wow! This is the first book I have read by Mika Lane but I'm blown away! It was great! My kindle is still on fire from Luca and Leo Borroni (the twins) and Echo! Echo always got dumped on much of her life. So she finally made the decision to pick up and leave West Virginia and move to Los Vegas to start a new life. She didn't want to have to leave her younger handicapped sister behind with their drunken mom but Echo would make sure her sister was provided for until she moved out to Vegas with her. Echo worked at one of the twins many establishments, Loaded Dice. Luca had taken to Echo and when he goes in Loaded Dice one day with his brother, Leo, Luca sends Echo on an errand. She comes back to a shoot-out that included everyone including her boss with the exception of the twins. She will soon find out who they really were. They spared Echo's life and it was time to pay up with their version of The Game. I highly recommend this book!

Once I started Dirty Game I was entrances and addicted. A fast-paced read that kept me on the edge of my seat. I stayed up way too late reading and had to force myself to put it down. Luca and Echo are opposites yet are great together. "The Game" was totally hot and I liked how Mika Lane redeemed Leo for his story. which I cannot wait to start.

It's a game!

This is a great book! Kudos to the author Mika Lane! This mafia tale is moves fast at times and and it's kind of like a fairy tale. You know you should stop reading because you have to go to work but it's too good. Girl meets boy. Guy has brother, an identical twin. These characters felt real to me not like super humans. Echo is a great heroine with strong beliefs and is hard working. I recommend this book to anyone that likes a mafia story with a lot of hot sex, bad guys and 3 ways! I can't wait for the next book to be published!

Industrious cocktail waitress. Identical, gorgeous, alpha mobsters. A crush. A kidnapping. The Game. What could all of these things put together get you? Well, in the case of Ms. Lane, a what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas fun story. There is some menage, but this is Ms. Lane! LOL. Echo and Luca have some fun, and due to The Game, Leo too. Will it last longer than three months? I read this book in two evenings and I enjoyed each and every minute. Sexy, hot, and even with 'gangstas,' endearing.

Hot!

Really liked this story. Not crazy long. Didn’t take long to read it in one sitting. Loved the characters Luca and Leo and their weird twin dynamic and their kinky shit they like to do. Their version of saving Echo was a little far fetched. Even she had a tough time with it mostly cause it was BS. They just didn’t kill her with the rest of the owners as her former employment. But it allows her to have an excuse to accept ‘The Game’ with is mostly them putting her up and having sexy fun amongst the three of them. Steamy scenes definite page turner.

Wowza!! Dirty game indeed and double the trouble...or fun!! Ok, when I first started reading, I almost put this in the snooze pile - but i SO glad I didn’t!! Even with the ‘family ‘ ties, this is a well thought out and written story. I felt a part of the action while reading every word. I was soooo happy with the way it ended!! My first from this author but certainly not my last!

This is the first book in The Anti-Hero Chronicles Series. The story has action, suspense, and steamy MFM scenes. Echo, Luca and Leo share an instant attraction and a sizzling hot chemistry! Echo is sassy and strong. The two brothers are powerful, ruthless, and hot. Looking forward to listen to the next book in the Series, Nasty Bet, Leo's story. HOT HOT
I really enjoyed this book and would recommend this author to anyone.
It has hot steamy scenes, danger, romance and a HEA but...
I'm not sure whether to be happy or disappointed with the ending. Not because it wasn't well written or anything like that just because I was hoping for a different one.
Honestly Mika Lane is an awesome author who brings her characters to life.

Echo is a waitress in a strip club and saved from a violent shoot out the Borroni twins caused. Now she is in debt and must play their game. Sparks are soon flying between them but will they be able to keep her safe? Fast-paced read with loads of drama and intense steam. I was hooked from beginning to end. I loved it!

I was trying to be open minded

I tried to fall for the characters but there was something missing. The writing wasn’t that great also, it sounded more of a elementary written vs upper class. The way the character supposedly talked sounds like teenager.
