I've built this chapter from the ground up and I'm not about to watch everything I worked so hard to build go down in flames, but keeping this throne may cost me everything I hold dear.
I lost the love of my life years ago, and since then no woman has come close to filling the emptiness that hole has left in my heart. I've pretty much given up on there ever being a second chance at a love like that again for me. I've accepted that it just isn't in the cards.

This was a pretty good book. No major complaints. A few errors here and there as with most books. This was Rock's and Evelyn's book. Rock is the president of his RBMC in Colorado. Evelyns is the club princess of the Iron Deaths MC. while her Dad's the president of his club.
Rock owes the Iron Deaths a big favor and her father is calling it in. Let his daughter come hide out and make sure nobody touches her while they try to take care of some problems.This is a bit of an age gap romance.... not one I usually enjoy.... I love this author but something is missing..... I just didn't feel the spark between them. It happened so quick and felt a little forced.
Rock owes the Iron Deaths a big favor and her father is calling it in. 3.75 stars--KEEPING THE THRONE is the third instalment in Nicole James’ contemporary, adult RBMC: DURANGO, CO erotic, MC romance series, a part of the multi-authored RBMC series. This is fifty-year old, RBMC Durango President Richard ‘Rock’ Rockingham, and thirty-two year old Iron Death MC princess Evelyn. KEEPING THE THRONE can be read as a stand-alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed here necessary.

One year earlier, the expulsion of Evelyn’s then boyfriend Malik from the Iron Death MC placed a target on everyone involved. Evelyn became a virtual prisoner until her escape, an escape from the man about to seek revenge. Fast forward to present day wherein Malik, now the new VP for the Vipers MC, takes aim at the Iron Death MC, and with it, the hunt for our story line heroine. My rating: 4 stars
What I liked: I liked both Rock(H) and Evelyn(h). Rock was the perfect hero. I absolutely loved the part when he kicked Arlene (a club chick that wanted Rock) out of the club in front of Evelyn and the whole club. I also enjoyed how he handled Malik( the bad guy/Evelyn’s ex). I liked Evelyn because she didn’t let the past keep her down. She was still sassy and it was great how she didn’t back down from the club chick.
What I didn’t like: I wished we would have gotten to read Rock taking care Arlene in her part of letting Malik know where Evelyn was.
Descriptive Sex: Yes
***Major Spoilers/ Triggers/Details: h’s dad is the president of MC and he just found out that one of his guys was stealing from the club. That bad guy(om) is also with the h. They beat om up and strip him from his cut. That om goes to the h and forces her to leave with him. h is with him for about a year. During that year he abused her. h finally gets away and calls her dad. h’s dad finds out that the om is now part of a different MC and he is their VP. Worried about his club and the h, he calls in a favor that is owed to him by the H, who is the president of a different MC. H comes and takes the h back to his club to keep her safe. H was married and loved his wife but she died in a motorcycle accident. He hasn’t found any one and isn’t really looking but as soon as he saw the h, he felt that spark. H and h fight it at first (also h’s dad told the H to keep his men and his hands to themselves) but at the H’s birthday party they finally give in to their attraction. One of the club chicks is jealous and says some stuff to the h. Also, the H’s guys got him a stripper for his birthday gift. Seeing the stripper in the H’s bed (the guys told her to get in his bed), the h leaves. H goes after her and she tells him about the club chick. H brings the h back to the club, confronts the club chick and kicks the club chick out of the club for good. H and h start a relationship. h’s dad is in trouble because the om’s new MC wants his club so the H goes to protect them. The om gets pissed because he looks like an idiot and finds out where the h is. The om bombs the H’s truck and while the H is in the hospital he takes the h and sets the H’s house on fire. H gets the h, takes care of om and they get their HEA.
Final thoughts: I really enjoyed this book and will definitely go back to read the daughter’s book Lola.

Rock is an awesome guy. He is protective and fierce. Evelyn is thrown into his world in need of protection. These two are hilarious and this storyline is perfect. Great writing.

Loved me some Rock! ❤ The second I started this book, it was unputdownable. It did not disappoint. With an addictive storyline and gripping characters, it had a great balance of both MC and romance elements all throughout.
This is the third book in James’ RBMC Durango, CO series, and whilst all the books can be read as standalone novels, I still recommend that you read them in publishing order purely for the fact that the first two books helps build-up the anticipation of Rock’s story and of the lucky heroine who wins him over.
After having already read about twenty or so books by James, I pretty much know what I can expect when going into a new one. What I quickly discovered is that James writes older heroes and age-gap MC romance stories so damn well! There’s a genuine feel to her characters’ coupling. I loved the fact that the big age difference between Rock and Evelyn wasn’t even that much of a factor in the grand scheme of things in their relationship. There’s such a strong connection between them that you tend to forget there’s even a gap. It’s one of the reasons as to why I’ve loved (and continue to love) reading James’ books that include this romance trope.
Keeping The Throne has a commanding yet gentlemanly hero in Rock who’s had a well-lived life. There’s always going to be some concern going into a romance story where a leading character has lost their first love and wondering how the author will develop her character through a tragic past. I can tell you this book is emotional at times to the point where I really felt for Rock. I thought his story was emotionally complex but just as equally whole-hearted and sweet.
Evelyn, at times needed a slight attitude adjustment in my opinion but overall she’s a likable heroine who fitted well with the existing cast of characters and couples within their inner circle. What I liked about her most was the fact that she wasn’t trying to replace or forcefully fill the void in Rock’s life after the death of his wife, but understood his apprehension, was a positive impact, and in the end naturally filled that emptiness in him. Their story, and Rock’s more so was beautifully executed. There was a sense of respect, love, and loyalty when it came to Rock letting go, and as saddening as it was to witness, I’m glad there was a distinct closure to that chapter of his life.
This MC romance story was well-paced, told from multiple POVs, and as it progresses there’s a gradual build-up of suspense not only with Rock’s evolving relationship with Evelyn but within his club too. You’ll get your fill of steamy romance, a strong bond of brotherhood, and solid familial dynamics that all add to the overall enjoyment of reading this book. Besides the age-gap trope, Rock and Evelyn’s relationship can technically fall under the “instalove” umbrella as their relationship evolved pretty quickly, but just like what I found with their age-difference, their unplanned romantic interactions still had fairly organic development to it.
I found the overall atmosphere relatively on a light side, but it does contain gritty elements, some of which may be triggering for some readers such as, strong violence, domestic abuse, and kidnapping. Along with strong sexual content this book is intended for readers 18+ only.
But as with all of James’ other books, she knows when to add a little unsuspecting comic-relief to keep the overall vibe from going too sombre for too long, and she did just that with this one by adding giggle-inducing banter.
All in all, it’s another addictive as hell addition to the series, and in general another must-read book by James that I highly recommend! It’s an MC romance story that I can (and will) read again and again. Knowing that Rock gets his second chance at love will leave its readers in happy contentment, but at the same time with his backstory and having to let it all go leaves a bittersweet tinge too.

Summary 🗣
Evelyn's boyfriend, who is in her Dad's MC is caught stealing. Instead of unaliving him her Dad, the MC President, desides to spare him since it's his daughter's boyfriend. The boyfriend then causes problems from there so her Dad calls in his marker to another MC and Rock, the MC President, desides to take Evelyn and keep her safe and this is where our story begins.....

I love ❤️ OW drama! It's huge reason I love MC romance and I was so happy to see that in here. There is no 🚫 cheating by either the FMC or MMC but there is just one lady who causes a bit of trouble 🫣
I liked the plot but I feel like some things could have been edited out ✂️ or just slimmed down 🤏 The ending seemed to drag a bit, I liked the Epilogue but I feel like there were probably 3 chapters that could have easily just been edited ✂️ to one.
I think this was a great balance of dark 🖤 for a middle of the road 🚧 MC romance 🏍 and I liked the angst.
I absolutely loved that Rock came to Evelyn's defense on his birthday 🎂 favorite part of the book for me!
I have read my fair share of MC romances 🏍 and I think this is a good one to read. It had lots of riding 🏍 possisiveness 😻 steamy 🌶 with a man totally in love with his woman 🥰 then you have the dark where they protect their club and women 🖤 and of course a found family 👨👩👧👦 so it's a wonderful mix for a great book.

Richard 'Rock' Rockingham is the President of the Royal Bastards MC Durango, CO Chapter. He lost his wife to a terrible accident years ago and has mourned her loss ever since. He's a strong leader and protective of those he cares about. But he's also lonely, with his daughter pushing him to let someone new into his life.
Evelyn is the daughter of Duck, President of the Iron Death MC. She's tough, smart and sassy. When her boyfriend, a member of the MC is found stealing from the club he's 'cut bad,' stripped of his cut and his bike. He kidnaps her and promises to get his revenge on the club.
When Duck finally gets his daughter back, he knows Malik will be back. To keep her safe, he calls in a marker with Rock's club asking them to keep her safe until the danger is over. From the moment these two meet things start to sizzle. For the first time in years Rock is interesting in a woman and their time together only makes things hotter for them both.
While there's still violence and mayhem in this MC read, this story is mostly about Rock allowing himself to love again after losing the love of his life and Evelyn finding a man worthy of her trust and love. There are many touching moments as well as fun, sassy and steamy ones.
These two are a great couple and I really enjoyed reading about them and loved the peeks into their lives after the main story ended. There were some scenes that were a bit lean for me and I wished the author had given us a bit more to dig into but overall, an enjoyable read.

Richard 'Rock' Rockingham is the President of the Royal Bastards MC Durango, CO Chapter. He lost his wife to a terrible accident years ago and has mourned her loss ever since. He's a strong leader and protective of those he cares about. But he's also lonely, with his daughter pushing him to let someone new into his life.
Evelyn is the daughter of Duck, President of the Iron Death MC. She's tough, smart and sassy. When her boyfriend, a member of the MC is found stealing from the club he's 'cut bad,' stripped of his cut and his bike. He kidnaps her and promises to get his revenge on the club.
When Duck finally gets his daughter back, he knows Malik will be back. To keep her safe, he calls in a marker with Rock's club asking them to keep her safe until the danger is over. From the moment these two meet things start to sizzle. For the first time in years Rock is interesting in a woman and their time together only makes things hotter for them both.
While there's still violence and mayhem in this MC read, this story is mostly about Rock allowing himself to love again after losing the love of his life and Evelyn finding a man worthy of her trust and love. There are many touching moments as well as fun, sassy and steamy ones.
These two are a great couple and I really enjoyed reading about them and loved the peeks into their lives after the main story ended. There were some scenes that were a bit lean for me and I wished the author had given us a bit more to dig into but overall, an enjoyable read.

This book is part of the Royal Bastards MC collection. This is the third book in the Durango, CO series. Rock is the prez of this chapter. In the last book another club helped his out and now they are calling in their favor. Duck is the prez of the Iron Death MC. Duck's club exiled a member who was stealing from them. Said member is now back as the VP of the Vipers and wants his revenge. Duck calls Rock to ask for help. Rock doesn't think he give him what he is asking for but offers to help in other ways. Duck asks him to take his daughter, Evelyn back with him to CO and keep her safe. Evelyn can't believe what is happening. Evelyn and Rock meet quickly before her father tells her she is to go with them. It wasn't a great meeting. But she finds herself attracted to Rock. Rock has felt anything for a woman since losing his wife until Evelyn. The more time to two spend together the more they can't fight what they fell. Rock must decide how he can help Duck and protect Evelyn. Will she want to stay with him after everything is settled. He is fifty and she is about 30. This book was a great read. Evelyn has been through so much. She feels safe with Rock but wonders if he is looking for more than a fling. Rock and Evelyn make a great pair. She keeps him on his toes and feeling young. She also helps him finally start living again after losing his wife. I can't wait to read the next book in this series. Great job once again Nicole.

This is book 3 in this chapter of the Durango, CO chapter of the RBMC and it’s going as strong as ever. This is Rock’s story, the Prez of the chapter. As we learned in the first two books (which were based on his son and daughter’s lives) we know Rock is a widower and had been for quite a while. While he’s no saint, after all the man had needs, he has never found anyone that lit the tiniest of sparks to what he had with his wife. That is until Evelyn. A woman who he had a brief encounter with under the worst conditions, at least for her, and who happens to be the daughter to the Iron Death MC’s Prez, Duck. This is a club that Rock and his MC brothers are indebted to. Image Rock’s surprise when Duck calls in a favor which turns out to be taking Evelyn back to Colorado and protecting her.
From here the storyline takes off and whew what a ride it is. There are laughs, heartbreak, heartwarming scenes that will have you love every minute of Rock and Evelyn story. It’s not all sunshine and roses, after all this is the RBMC we’re talking about. I highly recommend grabbing this one up reading Rock and Evelyn’s journey: you won’t regret it.

Evelyn finds herself doing something stupid and getting caught. She is intrigued by the man who catches her but, little does she know, he is about to change her life. She returns to her dad's club and finds Rock and his brothers in her father's office. She learns that she is leaving Utah and heading to Durango to live with Rock. Her ex, Malik, has been making waves and Duck wants her out of the area so he can't use her against him. Rock agrees to have her stay with him. They are like oil and water at first. Their 18-year age gap is a concern for him at first. She acts kind of bratty for a 32-year-old and it was hard to like her at first. Rock shows great care with her and she soon falls for him. He finds himself ready to move on and start a new life. He has been grieving his dead wife for a decade and still has some hang-ups about it. I liked that Nicole James didn't just have him instantly get over it. I did want him to be more honest with Evelyn and not just sweep his feelings under the rug. They both stepped up for each other when it counted. I liked the ending of their book. Fit perfectly in with their personalities.

I really enjoyed Keeping the Throne. This books follows Rock who’s the President of the RBMC in Durango, Co and Evelyn who is the daughter of the Iron Deaths MC President (Duck).
Rock lost his wife after a wreck and never thought he would meet anyone to fill that hole is wife left. Evelyn just got away from her psycho ex who’s also a ex member of her dads club.
This book has so much angst and it’s sooo good! I really enjoyed that even though the book in pretty much in two POW there are a few others pox scattered in there too with brings more depth to the story! I would definitely reread and this has definitely been on of the best reads I have found in a good bit!

Book three in the Royal Bastards MC Durango. Rock is the president for the Mc. Another president asks rock to return a favor. The favor to keep his daughter safe and take her to his chapter. Evelyn just came back from the worst day experience she can have. Now she’s back with her father. Now he’s asking her to go with rock because she’s not safe. The only problem is that, she has meet him before. She kinda stole his wallet. Not a great way to meet. Now she’s in his chapter and lines are about to be cross. She’s 32 and his 50. Rock lost his wife. So his not ready for Evelyn especially the feeling she’s making him feel. Love love this book. The favor is over now, his now protecting hi Ol lady.

I enjoyed the book thoroughly. I understand that the plot is somewhat redundant but there is something special about how the author incorporated the family, the brotherhood, and the development of the MCs relationship that I find funny and heartwarming. The fact that there were less of what a typical MC romance has like the "club bunnies" and "cussing" was also a breath of fresh air and added to the romantic aspect of the whole MC romance. The age gap was endurable and the angst was there but did not overpower the romance, which I like.

What a comeback!!
Wow!! President of the Royal B@stards Durango chapter lost his wife the love of his life years ago. Never did he think he would find love like that again. But lightning does strike twice. When Rock promises the Iron Death MC president that he would keep his daughter safe, never in a million years did Rock think he would fall in love with her. The twists and turns this book takes are just awesome. You are on your own motorcycle ride with this one. Nicole James did a wonderful job with Rock and Evelyn's story.

Back again to Durango Chapter and I really love Rock.
Rock has really gone through hard time losing his Ol' Lady and in the previous books I really wanted him to find a happily ever after. Being that it is with the young princess of another MC who has had bad experience in previous relationship just happened to work. Evelyn is being kept safe by Rock and though they get off on a bumpy road I enjoyed their dynamic and hope to see them in future books.

This was an excellent read. Rock didn't expect to fall in love again, his first wife, Gillian, gave him two children and she was his first love, but he was thrown a curve ball when she was killed in a motorcycle accident. A debt owed was called in from another charter to protect his daughter and that's where Evelyn comes in. She's in her 30's and he's going on 50. Plenty of heat, danger and starting over. HEA.

I could not put this book down. I love Rock! Oh my goodness… of all people for Evelyn to pick pocket. It was like I could see it happening before I read it. I was screaming no! Don’t do it! Lol
These two complete each other. I love how he protects her. Evelyn is the ideal woman, she’s smart enough to listen to him about things. She doesn’t come across stupid. I absolutely loved her.this book is sooo good!

4 1/2 stars. I loved the support and back up of the other MCs. Evelyn had self-doubt and fear when it came to men. I enjoyed her journey as she found herself and the confidence to live and love as she chose. Rock had been closed off to another woman being in his life until Evelyn. Their connection was steamy and strong, and supported by his own children and club. There were moments of tears as well as giggles, and I recommend this story.

This was an okay read. I guess I was expecting more. Started to lose interest around the half-way mark. And there were a few things about Rock that - despite all the changes - made me think that Evelyn would be coming in second to Gillian (the sainted dead wife) quite a bit. But I guess I didn't like either of them enough to care. Still, if you like this author, it's a decent addition to the series.

So good...
I have read all of Nicole James MC novels and they are marvelous.. Evil Dead series and now the Royal Bastards plus the Jameson Brothers, the sexy tattoo kings. I have my favorite ones that I reread and sigh; but Rock so far takes the cake plus as a long time Colorado resident, I love the Durango location where this chapter lives. Plenty of sugar and spice and naughty and nice between these pages so purchase your copy ASAP.

What a ride. This book will grab you and keep you reading until the last page. It moves along at a pace which is perfect for the story. The characters are so real that you feel as though you know them and no matter what happens you want to be there with them. You cannot help but love them. This book is a must read, that needs to be at the top of your TBR list.

Loved it
This is the story of Rock and Evelyn daughter of Duck of the Iron Death MC. Rock is repaying a marker to Duck by taking Evelyn to keep safe from Malik...an evil man who was a member of Iron Death now VP of the Vipers. I really enjoyed the play between Rock and Evelyn. I really loved the epilogue....

A definite must read book and series!
This was an intense, emotional, and suspenseful story that you certainly won't want to miss! It's definitely a must read book for those who love a fantastic suspenseful romance.
I would definitely recommend this book, series, and exceptional author.

Holy Hell
Nicole has done it again!!! I was captivated from page 1. Her words painted a motion picture in my mind. The heros are strong and imposing until they get their lady. The ladies are not push overs or doormats...Nicole James you have a way about you that I can not wait to read or re read your books
