Cursed Studies #1-3

Cursed Studies: The Complete Series

Rate this book
Three haunted young men. A terrible curse. One girl who could break it... if this place doesn't break her first.

I came to Roseborne College looking for answers. This place swallowed my brother whole. What I discover are sadistic teachers who torture more than teach, unearthly sounds that echo through the night, and a wall of roses that holds the students captive.

To unravel the mystery of this place, I need the help of three very different, unnervingly appealing guys. Guys who might be just as messed up as I am.

Maybe together we can heal each other's wounds. But after the abuse I've endured from the boy who claimed to love me the most, it's hard for me to believe I deserve anything better.

I've got to gather my confidence quick, because Roseborne's malicious spirits want to suck the life out of all of us... and the key to defeating them may be a power I didn't even know I held inside me.

*Cursed Studies is a gothic paranormal trilogy with shades of Beauty and the Beast. If you love snarky heroines, damaged heroes, dark secrets galore, and romance with no choosing required, look no further! Just beware: Once you enter Roseborne College, there may be no coming back...*

This set contains the entire Cursed Studies trilogy: Academy of the Forgotten, Academy of the Forsaken, and Academy of the Fateful.

Cursed Studies

I absolutely loved this series. And getting to binge it all at once was the perfect thing to do. I listened to the entire thing on audiobook and let me tell you the narrators do such an amazing job that you feel like you are at the academy with them.
The storyline is great, just as you think you know what is going on. Nope wrong. And the message behind it all is brilliant. As always Eva Chase I loved it, and can't wait until I lose myself again in your magic

There are certain series’s that would have been rated higher if they were bundled as a whole… this series proves it. The first two books were the slow burn that was done justice when bundled with the insane blaze of craziness the last book offered.

I read and reviewed each of these books as an advanced reader.

Academy of the Forgotten - 5 stars

Man, Eva has done it again. The first book in her new series will keep you on the edge of your seat and you will just fall off it at the end. I am not going to give you too many details as they would ruin it for you. Beatrice, it Trix as she likes to be called, arrives at Roseborne College looking for her foster brother. He came here a year ago and hasn't been heard from since. Not only that but she seems to be the only person who remembers his existence. The students and the staff at this strange school say they don't know who she is talking about and try to get her to leave. Three guys seem particularly interested in her: Jensen, Ryo, and Elias. One harasses her, one befriends her, and one totally avoids her. She is not going to let the strange students run her off, but the strange classes might do her in. Her sleuthing doesn't seem to be getting her anywhere, until it does. Be prepared to kick something when you get to the finale...and then sit back to wait for the next installment.

Academy of the Forsaken - 5 stars

Wow. This was one of those books that I kept having to put down because I was afraid to see what happened next. It took me an hour to go back and finish the last chapter. Trix figured out how to keep her memories as she once again returned to Roseborne College in exactly the same way she arrived before. She can even remember some things from what are apparently several past iterations of time spent there. Times when she grew close to each of the three guys she was drawn to during her last cycle through. Something seems to be different this time. Since she can remember the discoveries she made last time she makes Poland to get back to the evil rose bush in the basement. She also starts seeing visions of things that happened in the very distant past to a group of students in school uniforms. She puts pieces together and discovers her own connection to school's past.

Now that she can remember Ryo, Jensen, and Elias, they all grow even closer. The fly in the ointment is her foster brother, Cade, who spends most of his time in a monstrous form living in the nearby forest. He is a manipulator who works to convince Trix that the guys she likes are only after one thing. Will she believe him? Will she be able to get back to the basement where the rose bush grows and destroy it? Will that save the students? The ending will shock you!

Academy of the Fateful - 5 stars

This is a fantastic wrap up to the Cursed Studies series. If you haven't read the first two books, hurry and do that so you can read this one. Beatrice, or Trix as she likes to be called, has managed to destroy the hateful plant that grew inn the basement of the Academy, but the students still can't escape. Not only that, but angry spirits stalk the students. Spirits that have specific targets. In order to escape then you have to be willing to give them what they need. You have to humble yourself and admit your misdeeds. But if that is not enough, the vengeful teachers and headmaster are determined to keep their games going. It will take everything, Trix, Ryo, Jenson, Elias, and Cade can do to break them all out of Roseborne, and even that might not be enough.

Book 1 in a new series by Eva Chase. This story is a gothic modern reverse Harem. This one will have you wondering what is going on right until 90% of the story . You will keep on going just wondering what’s going on at the Academy.
Heroine is Trix Her 3 mates are students at the academy. Trix goes to the Academy trying to figure out what happened to her brother, strange things are happening. Once someone goes to the Academy people get their minds altered . The dean and the professors say they never knew her brother. She gets to glimpse her brother , when one of her mates take her out to the woods. Trix can’t believe her eyes of what the Academy did to her brother. Can’t wait for the next one

Book 2

You will not forget this story. You’ll love it

This story is different than Evas usually stories. This one is a goth , dark paranormal.
This book 2 continents where book 1 left off . The characters are well developed. The scenes are well written and very detailed.
Trix is the heroine. Trix goes back to the Academy trying to figure out what the rose bush does with all that energy that it gives to the professors. She also tells her guys that this time she didn’t forget what happened and what her plans are. There is one glitch, she wants to help her foster brother, but he plays the on Trix feeling. Trix slowly takes steps to brake the hold the teachers have. Her men help her out . The attraction between them is hot. Can’t believe the ending

Book 3

Wow what can I say about this series. This one will have you listening till the end . Lots of twists and turns . The third book will show how the academy was getting their energy. Trix And her men got lots of answers of all the unusual happenings and how the Rose bush made things happen . Everyone got what they deserved. Grab it and see what happens to Trix foster brother At the end Is he completely a wolf.

I enjoyed each book of this trilogy as the story went further along! The first book was slower than books 2 and 3, but to give the background and solid foundation for this crazy world, it needed to happen that way. I thought the concept was so different, so creepy at times haha, it was a good change of pace to a lot of books I had been listening to and reading. This is the perfect time to be listening, with Halloween right around the corner. Now be prepared for some tough issues/situations in this book, it was hard to listen to some things the students had to go through. I loved the vulnerable moments between Trix and her men, especially Elias. Book 2 was my favorite, it was a rollercoaster of emotions that tried to mangle my heart but Eva did a really job piecing it back together. I enjoyed this darker story from Eva and can't wait to see what she has next up her sleeve on the PNR side of her writing.

The audiobook for this series was really good too. I love everything Jason does, but the only critique I would have is he sometimes had 2 of the guys sound very similar so I had a couple scenes I was a little confused who was talking, but again, very minimal. Jason is great at these darker stories, all the angst he provides in his tone. Fabulous job. I think this is the only series I have listened to Lidia and I hope its not the last. I think she did a good job with Trix and all the emotions she goes through throughout this series. Lots of highs, and lots of lows, but the performances were very believable and kept me in the story.

If you are looking for a different kind of RH series, especially if you are in the spooky spirit/mood and want to be creeped out a little bit haha and kept on your toes, then definitely give this trilogy a try. 5/5 stars for the overall series audiobook and story ❤️

My review is for the Audible edition of this series.

Great story. I loved how Eva took an issue everyone faces and made it into a thoroughly enjoyable story. We have all made decisions in our past that hurt other people. Roseborne College forced people to face those mistakes. I'm thankful to not have that in real life but the story is a good reminder to try to make amends for wrongs we have done others.

The narration was great. Jason Clarke used a super sexy deep voice at times. Yum!

I would have liked to know more about Trix's family history and have her ancestry confirmed. I was also curious if she had any lingering effects of the supernatural variety.

The ending was good. I think it ended the only way it could in order to not have future trouble.

I recommend this series for anyone looking for a paranormal adventure that is a little bit different than most. Enjoy!

Wow

honestly had no expectations going in, but i was honestly blown away by the end of the first book. really love the concept and the world building, characters all have their flaws and were multidimensional, i even geared up at some parts. it’s been a while since i found such a great read. ending wraps up nicely, though i would have loved more answers about what type of curse the staff had gotten into or

spoilers

how exactly the supernatural stuff worked and all (like, why roses and what’s up with the sacrificial magic thing going on?) required some suspension of believe but honestly i think the characters really drove the plot well. there were many twists that happened and i was drawn in till the end.

What a great story full of twists and turns! I love when a story surprises me and this one did it over and over again. I never knew what to expect as Eva slowly peels back the layers of this world, the characters, and the relationships between them! Everything is so well-developed that even though this is a supernatural world, it's believable and really pulls you in. This is definitely one for the re-read list!

As for the narration, I give them both 4 stars. They did good character voices and brought the story to life.

Wow. This series had me hooked from the first page. Trix was an awesome character and the storyline had me guessing all the way to the end. There were parts that were dark. There were parts that made me cry. There were parts that made me laugh and made me smile. This series had everything I could’ve wanted. Yet another amazing series by Eva.

Being able to get the full series with one credit was a great deal. Each book took us on a journey through Roseborn college with Tris and her men. The secrets that were revealed each book got more epic and I enjoyed how things were wrapped up in the end.

Better ending than expected

After several twists, some unexpected, Trix managed to pull off a big feat....all the while, snagging 3 guys that love her. Definitely ended better than I would have hoped.

I generally like this author

But I’m 67 pages in and I’m too bored to continue. I really needed more information instead of vague dark hints in order to care about any of the characters. If I don’t care, I’m not investing my time to get further into a 700 page trilogy.

Starts off intriguing. You keep at it hoping for more detail and magic. Only to end in a fairytale. But a super lame and predictable one, peppered in trigger warnings.
