The Bloomin' Psychic Boxed Set includes the first 3 books in the Petal to the MetalForty-two-year-old Mia Thorne is not living her best life. After a disastrous career-and-relationship-ending event, she escapes New York City and moves to a sleepy river town in Pennsylvania, courtesy of a dead aunt she never knew. Aunt Hazel was the reclusive family nut, a self-proclaimed psychic. Of course, Mia’s dad always told her that she, too, had the gift, but after his death, her mother made sure to squelch the notion. No square pegs allowed! Aunt Hazel’s old cottage is only slightly better than the decrepit gardens surrounding it. Mia doesn’t know the first thing about gardening and expects this will be one more failure on her seemingly endless list. Even Aunt Hazel’s ancient cat seems to have pegged her as a loser. When Mia stumbles over a body in the overgrown garden, the newcomer catches the eye of the police chief and his hotshot detective, Derek Fairfax, and she becomes the number one suspect in the case. Much to her shock and awe, she also catches the eye of Derek’s brother, Dane, a lawyer with a head for what’s legal and a bod for what isn’t—but getting arrested for murder would certainly put a damper on her dating life. Will Mia tap into her long-buried psychic skills in order to save herself or will she end up digging her own grave? Life's A BirchLife's a birch and then you die in a canal wearing days-of-the-week underpants.Forty-two-year-old Mia Thorne is settling into her new life in the small riverside town of Newberry, Pennsylvania. Part of her misses the bright lights of the big city, but Mia is determined to make the best of the cottage she inherited and its surrounding gardens, as well as her blossoming love life. Residents like Scarlet and Patrick have welcomed her with open arms and encourage Mia to embrace her special abilities with the same enthusiasm. Even Ophelia seems to have accepted her presence, although Mia’s convinced the ornery cat would be perfectly content to suck out her soul if she dared to leave the bedroom door unlocked at night. When a body is discovered in the canal outside Scarlet’s house and the police suspect foul play, Mia rushes to her friend’s aid. Between a creepy birdwatching group and an unfriendly neighbor, Mia ends up with a list of suspects as long as Rapunzel’s hair. Unfortunately, Detective Derek Fairfax and Chief Tuck are determined to keep Mia away from the investigation under the guise of being, you know, the actualmembers of law enforcement--but Mia’s specialty is denial, and she’s more than happy to ignore their orders. Can Mia identify the killer before it’s too late or will Scarlet find herself up a canal without a paddle?Drive Me DaisyMia’s biggest nightmare is about to manifest—her mother is coming to town with her husband du jour in tow. Never mind the sorry state of the garden, the hormonal inches insulating Mia’s waist, or the Orca-sized cat that likes to rest her girth on Mia’s head in the middle of the night when she’s too tired to object. Mia has a new job to show off and a blossoming romance with a man guaranteed to win her mother’s stamp of approval—not that Mia cares what her mother thinks. She’s a middle-aged woman with her own life and… Okay, she totally cares. When a resident is killed in the middle of a parade, the whole town of Newberry is abuzz and Mia’s mother is aghast when Jurgen is accused of the heinous crime.

Mia, a forty two year old woman loses her job, her home and boyfriend, all in one day. Homeless, she learns she inherited her great aunt's home in a small town, and moves there until she lands back on her feet. Little does she know she'll have to remain there for the foreseeable future. When a body is found on her property, she decides to find who the killer is, while navigating making friends, dating the hot lawyer, and getting her newly acquired to accept her.
Book two finds her friend Scarlett in the hot seat when she is caught with a dead body near her home. Mia decides that if the police are going to waste time on Scarlett, she'll have to find the killer herself.
Book three features an uncomfortable visit from her mom and husband three, who is caught red handed with the murder weapon at the local festival. Determined to clear his name, and get her mom out of her hair, Mia jumps back into the murder sleuthing ring.
Typical for her, she nearly gets killed in every book, but manages to outwit the killer's long enough for the police to arrive. Love the wit. She is sassy. Not a fan of how her mom has affected her confidence but, love her support system in Patrick, Scarlett, and Dane.
Absolutely love The Bloomin´ Psychic series. Such fun to listen to. Good humor and lovable heroine being the main attraction. Also have to admit to enjoy getting to know the new town with the main character. A bit of suspense added after book two, it is where you realize your heroine could quite end up being killed by her snooping prowess. The really slow burn romance is kinda cute, after book three I am still not sure with whom I want her to end up with. Also I kinda enjoy how little attention the romance is getting in the books, it is kinda like the woman has more going for her than looking for a boyfriend. Still, if this issue isn´t resolved by book four, I am gonna write the author some harsh words of my own. Really, really want to listen to book four right now. Lastly, I like the narrator, but her male voices are still not that advanced. Actually that fact works with the story though. New author to me and I am liking her a lot.
Well, I can't think of anything to say that nearly all the other reviewers haven't said already - I just loved it and am happily working my way through the rest of the series.
I have to add, though, that I found Mia's mother to be every bit as annoying and frustrating as I'm sure the author had every intention of making the readers feel about her. That said, there are some positive aspects of her personality that sort of take the edge off her blatant insensitivity.
And it's such fun watching Mia's magic gradually (and sometimes awkwardly) come to light and grow.
I thought I saw a boxed set of books 4, 5, &6 in Kindle but I guess I was wrong, so I'll have to read them singularly as room opens up on my Kindle. Don't miss this engaging and well-crafted series!
When 42-year-old Mia's New York City life falls apart, she retreats to the charming town of Newberry, Pennsylvania, a somewhat touristy location on the Delaware River across from New Jersey, where she has unexpectedly inherited a house--and a calling? Mia's witchy adventures in life, love, and horticulture (spoiler alert: she's not great at them) will leave you rooting for our somewhat hapless yet plucky heroine! Full disclosure: I know "Newberry," and Ms. Chase has nailed the town's vibe, which only adds to the fun! I can't wait for Mia's further adventures and personal growth!
Cute, witty , charming characters and an easy weekend read
I liked the characters and how the author builds on them in each book. I literally laughed out loud several times. For a bit of a murder mystery meets quirky lively adorable woman going through a major transition in her life . I found myself staying interested and finishing the entire series. Looking forward to reading more books from Annabel Chase.
I love the concept but this boarders on plagiarism
I love books about psychics and the paranormal and this delivers. However, it’s extremely close to another series by Lucy Score and even has the same last name as that MFC. I like that it’s more mid-life than college but I can’t get past the rudeness and blatant disrespect of other states and the plagiarism. No offense but if you’re going to rip off another author at least do it better. This also has 0 spice.
Some reviews suggested Mia to be annoying but I thought she was forthright with a sassy mouth. And I like that. I sometimes get annoyed when there are so many murders in a small village but this town seems big enough to deal with the murders but maybe not one a month lol
I never had so much fun reading books like these. There are fabulous paranormal cozy mysteries but this one is sooo cute and real charming, filled with quirkiness, real friendship, a tinge of sadness, fun, thrill and adventure with a touch of romance. I am madly in love with this series.
With a fat cat and two new friends Mia takes on the dead garden and murders . These books were brilliant with new characters appearing as you went along . There was comedy and serious crime fighting. It took 2 days to read the 3 books but I would definitely recommend them.
I really like the main character. There us just something about her that kept me reading. Enjoyed her new friends also. I loved her quirky answers and saying.
The main character in these stories, Mia, has some great lines. She has a wonderful sense of humor. She surrounded by many colorful characters. Reading these stories was an absolute joy.
...if I was going to enjoy this series however after reading the first chapter or two I was hooked. I definitely recommend giving it a read and get to know the characters and story of the Blooming Psychic.
Worth reading more of the series. My only complaint is that the author is making the 42 year old character out as old and creaky. Forty-two is not old, nor is a 42 year old menopausal.
I love the characters and the style and the plots of these books! I laughed so much, and it wasn't contrived humor just delightfully entertaining! I am so disappointed that I don't have more of this series to read!
I enjoyed reading this funny, emotional series. The words just flowed so well that reading this series was a pleasure. I have never laughed so much from reading a book. The mysteries were great, and in predictable.
Nice starter set. I'll probably keep reading, as the characters are fun, the friend community keeps growing as Mia introduces herself, and the romance is slow enough and believable enough to not get in the way.
A wonderful story, a complete mixture of romance, magic, action, murder, mystery etc.
I loved reading this, funny, interesting, good characters, descriptions of the town, a brilliant story by a wonderful writer. Love these sort of books.
