Batter up! Baseball action and exciting whodunits star in this chapter book series! Next up is Atlanta!
The A-team takes A-Town! Mike and Kate are in Atlanta, where Hammerin' Hank hit his legendary 715th home run. But Hank's historic bat and ball, which he used to break Babe Ruth's record, have been stolen! Good thing Mike and Kate are sleuthing pros. Can the cousins track down Hank Aaron's missing treasure . . . before it's gone forever?
Ballpark Mysteries are the all-star matchup of fun sleuthing and baseball action, perfect for readers of Ron Roy's A to Z Mysteries and Matt Christopher's sports books, and younger siblings of Mike Lupica fans. Each Ballpark Mystery also features Dugout Notes with more amazing baseball facts.

I'm so grateful to David A. Kelly for writing this series that so appeals to my oldest. It was one of the first series that got him excited about mysteries and sparked a love of baseball. It remains one of his favorites.
As an adult reader, it's easy enough to figure out the mystery, but it's still one of the stronger mystery series for the upper elementary audience, it is intelligent without being full of the heavier stuff that comes with most middle grade mysteries. Alibis, red herrings, etc. are mentioned. The kids do enough sleuthing on their own to be heroes but always try to remain responsible and not do reckless things and adults and police are involved to an extent. Both Mike and Kate have their strengths and weaknesses, there is no boy vs. girl rivalry here, no potty humor, nothing feels dumbed-down for kids. We've been looking forward to this new release for months and the timing is perfect for Black History Month as the always informative back matter includes information about Hank Aaron, Martin Luther King Jr. and the Civil Rights Movement as well as notable landmarks in Atlanta pertaining to these individuals. (Fun fact: as a kid, David Kelly actually got to meet Hank Aaron!)
Thank you, David Kelly, for continuing to write this series! We hope you have many more books to come :-)
I loved the Atlanta Braves as a kid so I really enjoyed learning more about their stadium, team, city, and hero Hank Aaron. These mysteries are always fun.
