Title: Yin Ke / Yin Guest

The couple’s dynamics here is a bit similar to Panguan, as in the shou is raised by the gong. But compared to Panguan, this one is lacking in both romance and plot.

There’s hardly any hint of romantic interaction between the couple until the last few chapters. And just like with Panguan, I fail to see why the gong fell for the shou.

The plot is also a bit confusing. Maybe because it’s rather short, so there seems to be less depth. A random character switched from attacking to being in the inner circle without a clear reason. Some things that happened in the past aren’t explained well. And the victory seems to be without/with minimal consequences, while before the final showdown, it was implied that they couldn’t achieve it without jeopardizing the balance, etc. Anyway, I’m left with many unanswered questions.

Imo totally skippable.

Just a sketch.
I admit that after coming from other books of the author I expected more.
This book feels like a sketch, an idea, but it still needs to be cooked and spread.
There is a very wide world, with its own laws, beings and plots but being a novel of only 50 chapters, the plot is fully focused on the protagonists and what is happening at the moment.
The current situation is based on misunderstandings of the past but I do not think this is due to bad writing, if not because when you have no space for development, poor communication is the easiest way to provoke the happenings that make advance the plot.

没看过小说直接听的广播剧,怎么说呢,毫无情节可言。。。就平平的开始又平平的结束了。。。感觉明明可以扩充写篇很有意思的故事,但就算是短小精悍也不是这么寡淡的写法吧。。。

Notes: I am shocked to find a Mu Su Li title that didn't engage me. The premise was interesting, but there's just one detail that had been giving me the ick throughout my entire reading journey, and that has something to do with the MC and ML's initial relationship. This is also probably Mu Su Li's weakest novel, so it's probably one of her oldest ones. (Practice storytelling? Because a lot of events needed more fleshing out, especially when interesting characters were introduced.) This certainly isn't the same kind of Mu Su Li that gave us Copper Coins, Global Examination, and First Class Lawyer. I had to drag myself throughout the entire thing, it was short anyway, and was relieved when it was over.

The plot is intriguing and the story is good. However, it is quite short (compared to other danmeis) and while some might see that as a good thing, the story suffered for the lack of build-up. In fact, one may count this one as more of xianxia than a danmei. So, if one is a fan of danmeis, they might be a bit disappointed with this one.

3.5 !! i couldn’t help but compare this to panguan and noticed that every part of mu su li’s writing had improved in panguan. not to say this was bad, just some underdeveloped characters and plots due to it being shorter and an older story, i’m glad i was still able to read it !
