Becoming an OP mage in the LitRPG apocalypse wasn't the promotion I'd been expecting.
I was there when the Gaia System was first born. The changes were more than anyone could have dreamed of: magical powers, a stronger body, and a call to adventure. It should have been a paradise. Gifted the ability to combine spells with my Meta Bracer, I should have had an easy climb to the top.
Maybe it was just me, Jory Mitchels, previously middle management in a start up from hell. The change was supposed to make life better for the humans of Earth, but something went wrong. An anomaly occurred involving my previous boss, a misguided man child billionaire who believes in the healing power of crystals and essential oils.
On a quest to clean up the bastard's mess, with a beautiful sorceress and a brimstone burping monster at my side, this second life as a glass cannon mage is off to a memorable start.
PLEASE NOTE: Contains unconventional relationships and adult situations.
This story was a slightly different take on apocalypse LITRPG but easy to read. I was surprised by a highly graphic sex scene and the ending suggests a future harem direction. I am just over so much soft porn erotic stories.
A fun 1st book in a System apocalypse series. Not much in the way of crunching numbers there is progression in leveling. The Ramp up until the apocalypse was good To set the stage for the 1st book.I don't know what the second book will bring but If the 1st book is ending indication it will be a lot of fun and a lot of learning and discovery. The Harem and romance is minimalist And really only at the end Doesn't affect the storyline much. The MC is A bit OP Is a glass canon. That's kind of the definition. All it all it looks to be the start of a fun series and I look forward to the next couple of Books.
I saw this book years ago, and didn't touch it because the cover looked like low quality harem shenanigans. I also think I started another series by the author that I might have been willing to read the sequel? We will see.
Yeah. This was bad. I see why I subconsciously ignored it. The entire plot was stupid, and I don't know if this was supposed to have comedic parts, because nothing was funny. Not even when he got a middle management mage class.
I won't be reading the sequel, and I think this dissuades me from continuing to read that other series.
While deciding on tags for this one it occurred to me: is it an "apocalypse" if the world is rebuilt into a game world, but no-one dies in the process?
This was probably the deepest thought I had related to this book. It works well as a "light novel", and is rated accordingly. Quick, diverting and the MC is relatable. That'll usually get you at least a 4, and it did so here. Nothing really special to push it to a 5 however. Still, I'll read another one if it is at least this good.
Solid story, some great combat, some good emotions that are relatable, and just a few errors here and there throughout, but like anything, a good story is worth more than some of the quality. Atlas, if you could get a real editor to go back through this and fix all the mistakes, possibly have you add another few pages of details, this will be a solid 5/5 book!!!!! Now... To wait for the sequel!
This is a light novel so it is suppose to be a fast, fun joyride. Overall it achieves its goals, but it does so in at a slow pace. It limps where it should be running, slowing the pace of what needs to be a fast read. Fix the pacing and the series could be a really good light novel run.
Really enjoyed this! Fun take on the LitRPG apocalypse story. Adult scenes, good character development, humor, and enough suspense to keep me riveted. And the article adds a neat graphic novel twist! On to Book 2!
A truly interesting world creating!!! I as a reader really enjoyed the is of game and fantasy logic used in this story! As always first class adult fantasy action!!!
If you read the genre, you know the type. Beta male mc, cringe dialogue, soulless flat female characters, misogyny confused with chivalry, Disney meets Tolkien protagonist.
I had some questions about the new world, system, powers, etc and the started to be answered about 2/3 into the story. I liked it. Would read the next book (when it is out).
I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next. It is a nice lite read. Nothing heavy, just a fun story written well. A good way to spend your evening.
