I enjoyed the book. Jan and her sister are starting to communicate. These books are easy to read. They are good mysteries, with great main characters, as well as some very interesting side characters.

Amazon synopsis:
Art can be murder.

It was a beautiful autumn evening in Maine. The setting sun played through the changing colors of the leaves on the forested side of a lookout. On a public viewing platform, an easel stood empty and waiting for the painter. But the artist lay, curled seemingly asleep at its feet. But it was a sleep from which there would be no awakening.

Has Jan found herself involved in another murder mystery? And more importantly, will anyone ever get to pet Kitty Jr.?

Very Well Done

Sometimes, you read a book, and it has a depth to it, a hidden, or not so hidden meaning. It makes you think, contemplate, and look within yourself.
This one does that. In spades if you're willing to self reflect. Better yet, it in no way detracts from the story.
It's poignant and we'll thought out. The mystery is decently done and it has a few twists. I'm really enjoying these books and recommend them to anyone who would like a cozy, yet thoughtful read.

Purloined Painting was a very good clean read. This story takes place as the second book in the series. I did not read the first book, but that did not stop me from getting to know the dynamics of Lois and Jan and some of their background. This book made me want to do some research on art in order to understand what was being explained.

art and mystery

Even though this is a cozy story, it has an intro to art appreciation that I loved. I want to learn more, and as a quilter, I want to forsake the traditional and consider the ideas swirling in my head. The wild chaotic music of Mannheim Steamroller describes MY mind and Sara investigates the the passions and lives of the artists in this book. Makes you want to take an art class.

Jan helps her sister (Lois) at her B&B, where a guest dies. The storyline is entertaining and filled with action and myr. I enjoyed how Jan figured out who murdered the victim. I can't wait for more from this author. I received this book 📚, as a FREE ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.

A Deep and Emotional Story

Ms. Bourgeois captures the essence of her characters and draws in the reader from the beginning. She develops Man across the stories, and we also come to know Lois and other basic characters. The mystery is woven well. The reader finds herself emphathizing with Jan over Evelyn. Excellent series and I highly recommend it.

I really like this series

This is the second book in this series I've read. The analysis was pretty clear as to what makes people do what they do and present themselves as they do is worthy of a psychologist. While the story is short I didn't feel cheated in the solving of the murder. I'm looking forward to the next book in he series.

These books are so in-depth; so much more than a cozy mystery or even a murder mystery. This author talks about a number of subjects that are really deep and make you think. Make you question - just like Jan does in the book. I really enjoyed reading these books and I'm going to look and see if there's another one to read!!

So deep and emotional

This one really had me thinking about people and the masks we wear. Such deep emotions in this one. I wasn’t too surprised by who the killer turned out to be, but it was sad as to the why it happened.

So, this is the 2nd book in the series and I find myself hopelessly hooked. So refreshing to have the main female a person that who is not bitchy about being independent. On to book 3 !!

I want to check-in to the Elusive Cat B&B!

For those of us who enjoy cozy mysteries, this was an entertaining read.

The Elusive Cat Bed and Breakfast is hosting a week-long retreat for a group of artists. Jan Cathcart has fun trying to figure out what makes each artist “tick” and learn about their artistic process. Jan’s art lessons are opening her eyes to the creative process and she is curious to see what makes these people into artists. I found getting to know the artists/learning about their artistic process an interesting process. And then someone dies…

The setting for this series is simply divine and I want to go hiking through their wild parklands. We get to know the victim in this story before they are killed. It made me feel invested in finding the murderer who robbed our talented artist of their life. I recommend this story to you.

Everything I said above still holds. But this time I come away with a little melancholy. Jan is settling in nicely, but also yearning for her own identity. Ranger Rick (he prefers Richard), is becoming a regular character. We see his home, and note that Jan is fighting to think of him as “just a friend”. But everyone in town believes they are destined for a closer relationship.

This story revolves around a found friend. A bunch of artists and Jan’s own art classes.

I still recommend this.
