What happens when you decide to get revenge on the scammers constantly in your Instagram inbox? Seriously funny conversations. This book shows how persistent the scammers are and how they will say anything to get you hooked. This author doesn't fall for it. Instead, she gives them outrageous answers and strings them along until they can't take it anymore.
Instascam by Leah Maye is a close-up look at communication patterns of desperate people attempting to steal money via direct messaging on social media. With references to actual direct messages and video chats, statistics and humor, this book will help you identify a scammer for yourself. Author Maye has used her own Instagram account to communicate with real life scammers. And it is these chats that she has included in her book.
While scammers attempt to lure Author Maye with emotionally charged stories of tragic backgrounds, death, lost love, motherless children, and descriptions of honorable jobs, Author Maye’s responses to these attempts keep the scammer engaged and her reader entertained, resulting in her calling out their bluff. This is an excellent book for all who communicate via the internet, no matter the platform. We are all one vulnerable moment away from being the victim to a scam and the book Instascam serves up pages of prevention for us all.
This book is exactly what it says it is, but I was still surprised by it. The conversations with some of the scammers are laugh-out-loud funny. It was eye opening to see the similar methods the scammers had, it's like they all learn from one place or person. The one thing I didn't care so much for was all of the profanity but it was done in an outrageous way to get a reaction from the scammers. This book will give you a good laugh but also teaches us a few things about scammers, and why some of them do it.
A very funny but also informative read! Leah Maye uses her personal experiences to produce a truly engaging, witty, and downright hilarious narrative about scammers. This is a must for anyone who uses social media.
A hilarious collection of conversations with scammers on Instagram. While the conversations are entertaining, it’s the comebacks to the scammers that keeps you reading. Especially funny to me were the responses to the scammers that pretended to be looking for a love interests. I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a good laugh.
Have you been catfished? Lead on by a romance scammer? Leah Maye takes the yellow stuff outta the subhumans who slide into her inbox by pranking them, turning it into comedy gold. Highly recommended; I wish more people would read this severely underrated book.
Wow, hilarious but massively eye opening, especially as a woman living in these current times. But my god did I laugh. What a phenomenal balance. Brilliant, congratulations 🥳
